Solid 3 stars. My fiancé and I stopped in for lunch. We started with the calamari, which was pretty basic. We didn't find anything special about it that would make us want to order it again. Also, no tentacles...just rings. For my entree I chose a boil. For my boil I had scallops, head off shrimp, and black mussels in the cajun claws blend medium spice. It also came with corn and baby potatoes. My boil did not have any spice at all. It was quite mild. I was disappointed in this as I was really looking for that spice. There was no oomph! My fiancé said his lobster spaghetti was flavorless; no taste in the sauce at all. His meal also came with shrimp and scallops. The scallops were not whole, they were split in half. For drinks, he ordered "Bikini" which was supposed to be served in a pouch, which it was not. I had "Tropical." Drinks had decent flavor. Our waitress was attentive. We had the grilled oysters, lobster roll, and lobster bisque. The food was very mediocre. The lobster bisque was a little too cheesy for my liking and the lobster roll wasn't particularly appetizing. The lobster roll had lettuce and some sweet sauce that was off-putting. We also did not get served water for our dinner which was unpleasant. The restaurant wasn't busy so I expected our server to be more interactive and present. In the ever-long search for a good lobster roll on Long Island I somehow came across Cajun Claws for a delivery dinner. Well I'll be as brief as this meal was. The lack of lobster, I really couldn't look past. I've had lobster rolls from a few places and this one took the cake for the biggest skimp job on lobster meat. It wasn't even inside the split roll, just placed on top to make it look "stuffed". It's a shame as the fries were very well seasoned with an old bay type of seasoning and the yuzu mayo was lovely. The lobster roll itself is unforgivable however, I tasted the buttered bread roll itself more than the lobster, and when you have to ration your meat, it makes for a tedious meal. Upon arriving, we noticed signs that the credit card machines are down so we either have to pay with cash or fill out a credit card authorization form that they can use for when their machines are working again. For our appetizer, we had fried calamari. The portion size wasn't too big but that explains the $11 price. While very good, I don't understand why the marinara sauce was served cold while the squid was hot. It was a little weird. I ordered chicken fingers and fries and they were fine. After not dining here for over a year, my boyfriend surprised me on Valentine's Day with dinner here. My expectations were very high, as I had been dreaming about their seafood boils since the aforementioned last time we dined here. I was nervous the food wouldn't be as great because of the holiday and how long it had been since we last dined here, but I was wrong! My boyfriend and I started with their tangy chicken wings which in all honesty, were the crispiest wings I've ever had. The flavor was great and the portion was perfect. My boyfriend spoils he and we agreed we would do the ultimate boil and a smaller boil for us to share. It was the perfect amount of food. The ultimate came with potatoes and corn, for our main we chose the snow crab legs, crawfish and calamari in their original sauce with a mild spice level. The crab legs were phenomenal. Buttery, big pieces and something I'll be dreaming about until next time. The calamari was okay, definitely not the shining star but still cooked perfectly and flavorful. The crawfish were also delicious. Next time we go we definitely wanna kick up the spice level, it wasn't enough for us but you live and you learn! For our smaller boil, we got scallops and mussels in the Cajun claw sauce with a medium spice. That was the best decision we made. The sauce was extraordinary. I couldn't stop dipping EVERYTHING in it. The mussels were a stand out and everything was perfectly cooked. We had an amazing time here for Valentine's Day and I would love to personally shout out our waitress who did a great job for her first day! Not an easy gig taking on a holiday like this. Patchogue in Long Island, New York is starting to really become busy with many businesses opening up in development and main street with plenty to do when you walk around. Cajun Claws if you're in the mood for anything seafood or boil, it sits right on main street and has a different variety on the menu. We came as a table of 13 people. Some of us were in the mood for an entrée or selecting a boil. I ordered the soft shell crab burger. I haven't had it anywhere else and wanted to try something new. Last time I came here I had a boil, but it was way too much for me and wanted to try the soft shell crab burger to switch it up. (I forgot to take pictures and make a review a couple of years ago when I came to Cajun Claws). The food was good, service was immediate and our waitress was attentive and always came back to check if we needed anything. The only part I would complain were the French fries were too crispy. I thought it was just my meal, but a few of us who had fries were also too crispy too. Overall, the food was delicious and fresh. Parking is readily available, whether you're on main street or going to park by the lot near Cajun Claws. We came on a Sunday, free parking was available. We wanted to get Cajun seafood boil for a long time, and we found this place in Patchogue! We started with half a dozen oysters, which were very fresh and plump! We also had the Lobster Bisque, which was ok at best. Then, we got the Ultimate Boil with snow crab, head-off shrimp, and little-neck clams with medium Cajun sauce. The flavor of the boil was ok... not too rich and did not have enough salt. There was also small potatoes and corn in the boil. We would probably try a different sauce if we came back here. I'm not going to lie, I'm floored by how good this place is. I have always wanted to try a seafood boil. Tried many times to test a place out in the city and for years, it never worked? So my family and I decided to try Cajun Claws for a NYE meal. We went for scallops, shrimp and snow crab legs in a medium Cajun sauce. For food that is notoriously messy, the takeout is packaged really well! All the seafood, corn, potatoes and sauce are packaged in bags, which are then packaged in takeout containers. And plenty of wipes and cutlery were provided. To be honest, it was nice to see that even if you weren't dining indoors, you could still have the full seafood boil experience at home! The food though: really fresh seafood slathered in a spicy yet tasty sauce. The crabmeat and corn were sweet. The scallops tender and the shrimp flavorful. Considering this is all seafood, the price you pay is really not bad considering what is given to you. That being said, this is probably the only time you'd want to opt for takeout because when you devour the meal in front of you, the table will turn into a hot mess like 2020. I ordered the King Crab Legs, which were delicious. It was $38 but was worth it because the portion was plentiful. It was made with a garlic butter sauce. Tip: Mix some fresh-squeezed lemon into the sauce and crab legs for extra flavor. If I were to dine here again, I will try the lemon pepper sauce because there is nothing like fresh-squeezed lemon on fish. There were plenty of utensils to assist with cutting and eating the crabs legs, namely, claw crackers and wooden fish forks. I wish that my waitress told me about the packets of plastic gloves that were placed in the small bucket on the table. I noticed them after I finished eating. The roasted corn on the cob pieces were lovely. I did not care for the sausage, and I skipped the potatoes to conserve carbs. I had seltzer to drink. It was not as bubbly as anticipated. I skipped dessert. The waitress said that only a New York-style cheesecake and chocolate cake were available and that she recommended neither. This was the first restaurant I went to after outdoor dining was allowed in NYS! Glad I went here because they definitely left a good impression! Stopped in around 6pm and had to wait a little while despite a reservation.. but it's okay. Servers were friendly and all wore masks. We ordered the adult oysters and crab legs and lobster! Fresh seafood with amazing sauce and I couldn't get enough of the shrimp and crab. Ugh definitely missed seafood and just hit the spot. My boyfriend and I had such a great experience dining at Cajun Claws. The service we received from Joseph was unlike any other. He was so patient, friendly and accommodating to us. My fiancé and I split it and got a couple of classic margaritas. Jesse was our server and he was attentive, friendly and funny. Come here and see for yourself! Just don't get the crawfish- they aren't fresh, save that for your trip to NOLA. UPDATE: I originally left a 1 star review, but after speaking to their marketing team it seemed like they were trying to write their wrongs by showing us how they have improved and their other location Kashi in Syosset. So I changed my review to 5 stars prematurely because I really did enjoy their customer service after my poor experience and their overall concern. However, I was met with the same experience at Kashi, so they have not changed at all. The chain still has small portions, over priced meals and not so great service in person. Original post: So after a long day of being on the water with my family. We were all craving seafood boil so spotted this place and decided to try it out. But we were disappointed to find that the food portions were super small and overpriced. My dad got their surf and turf, and the portion from the steak and lobster together were very minuscule. The dish was loaded up with potatoes to make up for the lack of meat. I did however enjoy the taste of my boil(I got scallops), however again the portion was super small. So overall if you are looking for a great seafood experience just be prepared for small portions and items that are overpriced. The last thing I'll comment on is service. Cajun Claws may have hit rock bottom. In previous visits to this establishment the service and food has always been perfect. This visit was on Saturday November 25th at 5:15 pm. But this last visits leaves me questioning if I should ever go back. First, the party of 9 arrived promptly for our reservation and we were asked to wait for the table as it needed be prepared. This is very odd since the entire party was present and the restaurant was almost empty. Appetizers- three appetizers were ordered for the table. Rock shrimp, fired calamari and crab dip. Each appetizer was brought to the table in 5 minute increments. That was pretty odd considering the restaurant was pretty empty. Both the rock shrimp and the fried calamari were good. But the "crab dip",... was served with Ritz crackers , celery and carrot sticks. There was no dip , it is was simply plain crab meat fluffed up in a plastic demitasse. No added mayonnaise or other herbs and spices. It was very bland especially for the price charged. Very odd and disappointing. Now for the entrees, a chicken sandwich, children's pasta, children's chicken finger a lobster roll and two ultimate boils. Again the food was not served all at once but staggered. The children's food was served promptly and adequate quality. The lobster roll was pretty much a joke. I am including a photograph as a picture is with a thousand words. Now for the coude gras, the ultimate boils. The waiter came over after everyone else in the party is served and finished eating and informed us that the kitchen is behind. Now remind you the restaurant was almost empty. After waiting for another 15-20 minutes we promptly told the waiter to cancel the order and give us the check. Sad to say I will never go back as both the food quality and speed of service was terrible. It is even more amazing that no one from the restaurant's management team came over to apologize for the poor service. I do not gamble on football so why would I gamble on my dinner? This is our go-to place in Suffolk county! They always have the freshest seafood and best service. We normally get their lobster bisque, seafood boil and some appetizers such as chicken wing and salads. The chicken wing is fried and seasoned to perfection. The salad is always fresh with yummy dressing. For the seafood boil, the shrimp is a must-have. It's crispy and sweet unlike the mushy ones in most other seafood boil places. The mussel and little necks are also fresh and clean. We also get the Dungeness crab and crawfish. We also had the raw oyster and little necks during our most recent visit right before the New Year.
