Came here this past Saturday to have my first crawfish meal of the season! Unfortunately, they're not that big here yet. There were a few that were decent but majority were still a little small. The boyfriend and I ordered the Combo #1 with garlic butter flavor at mild spicy. We also ordered the garlic noodles with lump crab. Combo #1 - Crab legs, crawfish, shrimp, corn & sausage (we didn't receive corn or sausage though), garlic butter was so yummy, needed to dig down into the bowl for the sauce Garlic Noodles w/ Lump Crab - delicious! would definitely come here again for this, the fried onion bits on top complete the taste, plenty of crab & plenty of noodles The reason why I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 though is because they forgot to serve us corn & sausage in our combo bowl. Service has always been spot on, worth paying extra for crawfish by the pound. They have different flavors you can add some like Thai basil flavor costs extra but totally worth it. Dungeness crab, king crab, and blue crab is available and worth the money as well. They have Thai tea available too. read more

Came here for my first 2014 crawfish fix and left feeling a little disappointed. The reason for that was maybe I had built this place up in my head. That day the ($8.49 per pound) crawfish was decently sized and good but had about the same flavoring as it's competition down the street. There's 5 levels of spicy and I went with the spicy garlic and it was perfect. Tasteful and not flaming hot. They didn't over do it on the garlic which I like because I didn't have to pop breath mints after eating nor did I have to continue to wash my hands through out the day to rid myself of the crawfish smell. We also order a dozen raw oysters which were tasteful if not a tad on the small size when compared to other establishments. The Vietnamese-styled oysters were not that great as many have claimed (kind of dry and loaded with scallions). The Tamarind wings were just okay. Service was a little on the non-existence side even though it was not busy. None of us got our skins bucket dumped the entire time we were there. Drinks were not refilled and no one really checked on us throughout the entire two hours. My friend could not order ice tea that day because apparently the person that makes ice tea was not available. They charge you 25 cent for a bib. Not expensive in the least but kind of laughable when you think about it. 50 cents for ranch. Upon checkout if you want to use the 5% off deal that you get for checking in on yelp-you better make sure the manager is available because apparently the rest of wait staff does not know the button on the cash register for it. Best Crawfish joint ever. I only go here for crawfish. Service and food are excellent here. Appetizers Oyster nachos were good. Sounds weird but it turned out to be pretty good. Oyster on the half shell were delicious. You gotta eat it with cocktail sauce, tabasco, and a squeeze of lemon. "Vietnam Oysters" were also delicious if you are looking to get some more flavoring. Clam Chowder was too salty. I like to flavor the crawfish with the "kitchen special" or just make it spicy. Try it, you won't regret it. I don't know why wings were ordered but, they aren't that great here. Pastalaya was good here. You definitely have to get the fried rice here to top everything off. read more

The worst service ever. We went on a Saturday and they had one waiter. We had to wait 20 min at the door just to end up leaving.

I used to come here as a kid with my family and LOVED IT, I things changed since the new location. During one of my visits I had to wait 15 minutes just for basic, plain toasted bread. I wasn't happy about it not to mention the restaurant wasn't packed & literally 5 tables were holding people. The restaurant is pricey especially for fresh crawfish or shrimp. read more

This is one that the Houston chronicle got wrong! I understand it's the end of crawfish season but the quality of food here was less than sub par. We ordered stuffed mushrooms that were Luke warm and running with black liquid as if they were not washed before cooking. We ordered street corn that came out ice cold not one but twice. I don't send anything back to the kitchen more than once not taking that chance. The crawfish were so over cooked that they were literally mush. We were one of only two tables in the entire restaurant so they can not blame this on being busy. I can not recommend anyone eat here I can name 20 crawfish spots in Houston that are far superior. They were grossly understaffed and our waitress had to call her manager on the phone to see what she could do about our tab because at that point I wasn't going to try to choke down any more of their garbage. My family decided to give this place one more time before giving up on it or not. But it's just disappointed me again. We ordered the XL fatass because of the picture on their Facebook looks so good! And I was excited to invite my brother to try this too. The bucket looked so boring with the unblended garlic seasoning, like a raw garlic! And very least juice so it was hard to blend the seasoning together, the crabs were like dead, shrimps were okay but too salty. Overall: FAILED! That's the food, the service was not too bad but the waitress should have paid more attention because she forgot our clams (plus kept saying it's coming up and actually took over 20'). Took a visit to Houston with one thing in mind: Crawfish. I mean, of course I wanted to see my friends too, but the item at the top of the agenda (highlighted, bolded, and underlined multiple times) was crawfish. Sadly I didn't find enough time to try all the new joints, but I managed to squeeze in Cajun Kitchen right before taking off to the airport to come back to Vegas. I ordered 3lbs of garlic butter mild. I would've ordered more but I came straight here after eating 4lbs at Crawfish Cafe.....I told you I squeezed it in! Personally, Cajun Kitchen isn't my favorite place for crawfish. Very disappointed, when it first opened a few years ago, the crawfish is excellent. Now, I have eaten there two times and spent a total of almost $250. Most of their crawfish was mushy and dead. I ordered Fatass 2, five pounds of crawfish, shrimp, snow crab, blue crab. They topped the top of the bowl with big crawfish, the rest at the bottom was tiny dead ones. I went the second time hoping it was better. The same. I feel like they deceived me. I will never spend another dime there. If you decide to go there to eat see the crawfish first. A friend recently ate there and said she ordered the kitchen special $1 extra per pound. 1 lb of crawfish dead n mostly onions and orange peels. I was advised to try crawfish and noodle or crawfish cafe in hong khong market. What made it worst was the the waitress lied to my face saying that the crawfish is not in season and that they were shedding. There crawfish was $9.99 a pound. This is an honest review, LA Crawfish in Pearland is decent and only a small percentage that is dead. $5.99 per pound right now. Thank you John for the professional response. Went by recommendation of a friend. Got the thai basil and kitchen medium flavors along with the chefs special fried rice and thai oysters. Everything was very good. Preferred the kitchen special over the thai basil, and actually ate the lemons. Had no issues with service, as others seem to have had. Waitress was polite and quick. I went here today, after being unable to dine at my regular Cajun restaurant. I am so glad I stumbled upon this place!!! I got the king crab legs spicy with garlic butter. The flavors were phenomenal and the crab was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and moist. Its plenty of seating. Even though they were serving very large parties when we arrived, staff was very good. The decorum is great, a big plus is that they have 5 flat screens. MY FAVORITE CRAWFISH SPOT! I'm a huge lover of crawfish. I eat it many times a week and lots of it. I probably have high cholesterol, but I refuse to get it checked until well after crawfish season is over. I've had LOTS of dishes here, and I don't think I've found 1 dish that I did not like. Crawfish: I usually get the Kitchen Special - spicy. YUMMMMM! Citrusy, garlicy & full of flavor. I've tried the thai basil flavor, as well. It's good but can't beat the Kitchen special. I'm not a fan of their garlic flavor but my other friends really like it. I don't know what they do different then other places, but my crawfish stays hot longer than other places. Goes well with crawfish. Boudin balls: mmm always a must even if no one else wants to share it with me. basically a fried ball filled with rice & sausage. Special fried rice: As mentioned before, I'm not a fan of fried rice. My friends really like their fried rice though. It's a "must order" for them. Raw oysters: Fresh & big. Usual Gulf Oysters. Wings: I forget which flavor we get, probably the Vietnamese one. Flavorful and meat was not dry. Crawfish bread: french bread topped with cheesy, mayo-y, crawfish goodness. Biggest surprise would be their bread pudding. You wouldn't think they had good bread pudding. Randomly ordered it one day, and they got a new fan. This place has so much potential if they could just fix a couple big issues. Before i get into that, i want to stress that i loved the flavors, ingredients, and seasoning that they used with their crawfish. That being said my main issues were the following: 1. Texture of Crawfish - A good portion of the crawfish were so mushy and soft. I'm guessing that this is bc the crawfish were either over cooked or they were kept in the cooler way too long and wasn't as fresh when they finally ended up putting into the boil. 2. Amount of actual crawfish in the order - Like I mentioned earlier, i love the flavors and ingredients they use. That being said, they really need to work on improving the ratio of some the other ingredients (lemons, onions etc) My friends and i order 2 pounds at a time and each time we ordered our crawfish, we feel there was just so much of the other stuff in the bag and as a result less crawfish than expected. If they can fix these 2 main issues, I think this place really has the potential to be one of the best crawfish spots in H Town. Pros: they have live crawfish, with very good flavor as well as they are a good size. The shell on these crawfish on my recent visit were very thin and easy to peel. This also makes the seasonings soak into the crawfish making them very tasty. $8.99 lb but buy 6 lb and get the 7th free.. ( you need to order 6lbs straight not 2lbs now and we are still hungry and order 4lbs about 10 mins later.) The waitress brought out mayo and ketchup bottles and as plenty of limes. (I make a dipping sauce with these condiments). Yummy sweet potato fries. Not greasy or bland to taste. Cons: Chicken strip basket was not very good.. It came with 6 super thin and flat over cooked and small chicken strips. The shoe string fries tasted like they were refried..needless to say they did not taste fresh.. If I had to describe eating styrofoam I think this is how these fries tasted.. I was very unimpressed with this chicken strip basket costing around $11.. Cheddars or Raising Canes, Houston's have much better chicken strips.. The fried rice was dry and a little undercooked for me.. I felt that this dish lacked proteins.. The meat portions in the fried rice were very scarce. If you want good fried rice it's much better at Crawfish and noodles. I had my twin 4 year olds with me and my sister and I didn't care for the gangster rap music with unedited constant cussing jamming all loud during dinner on a Tuesday night. The crawfish here is pretty great. The little red crustaceans are served up in large metal bowls covered in a ton of spices and sauce. The peeling and eating process can stain clothes, hurt fingers, and leave faces and hands sticky for hours, but it is fun and delicious, and there is a roll of paper towels at each table to make clean-up somewhat possible. The Thai basil and kitchen special are both delicious flavors for the crawfish boil. The Thai basil is savory while the kitchen special is a little sweet from the citrus. The crawfish fried rice is a tasty addition to the meal; there is plenty of crawfish added to the rice that has already been peeled and diced! read more

We ordered crawfish and the crawfish got to the table way before oir drinks. Taste seems the same after all these years but theres way better tasting crawfish out there now. Crawfish were $10 a lb and %50 were spoiled and smelled horrible. I asked since they were so many if we could get it replaced but mgr refused. I have heard legends about Vietnamese style Cajun food and knew I had to try it in my first trip to Houston! I came here with a group of six and we ordered practically everything on the menu - crawfish "Kitchen Special" style and Vietnamese style, shrimp, blue crabs, king crab, crawfish bread, garlic bread, garlic crab noodles, street corn, sausage, potatoes, and loaded fries. Let me just start off by saying, I was absolutely shocked at how huge the crawfish is here - they were the size of normal shrimp. Both sauces were delicious, but the most memorable one was the salt and pepper blue crab, which was both salty and sweet. Other must-orders are the garlic bread and the corn. The crawfish bread was a little too heavy, but still tasty. Love this place, can't miss it! read more

No official hosting/hostess section you basically have to know theres a clip board hidden and put your name on a list. So me and a few peoples table were skipped because nobody was there and explained it to us as we waited 20 minutes in the line. We figured it was a line situation. I asked for the manager to come out so i could help them by explaining it was a poor set up and should have someone actively letting people or maybe shelling out the 9 an hour for a real hostess. But i was told the manager was busy manager busy. By the time we sit down i order some appetizers and my friends ordered crawfish. Crawfish took a good 40 minutes to come out another 10 minutes later my first crawfish wonton comes out. Still no second appetizer in sight. So i order a bowl of gumbo because after an hour of half waiting for a table and also food im starving. Ironically that comes out within a couple minutes. I had to basically track down 3 waitresses and keep hounding them about the boudin balls i ordered in the beginning. My friends basically done eating i finally get the balls. I took one bite out one and it tasted like garlic butter soaked rice fried into a ball. I ate one and told them immediately take it back because it was disgusting. At this point i ask for a manager again because the whole experience was bad and like an professional restaurant at least some sort of person higher than a servers position can at least come out apologize for the service and not make poor excuses. But that manager must of been still very busy. Recommendations is avoid places that don't appreciate their customers satisfaction. So if you have to eat here, go on non prime time so between lunch n dinner or as late as dinner you can. Because they are understaffed and can't handle a full restaurant in order to save money. With crawfish at 10.99 a pound you'd think they would be doing decent with a packed dinner crowd constantly. Ultimately poor management. read more

During my brief stay in Houston, I was delighted to try southern comfort seafood here! This reminded me of Boiling Crab in Cali - attractive workers, wooden tables, buckets of seafood, and a crab shack vibe. I expected our order to come in buckets and bags drenched in buttery, lemon cajun, and garlic sauce but it was served on a plate with its juice. My corn on the cob was basically steamed and flavorless. The cream cheese wontons were a bit over-fried but the turkey necks were great! The 4 stars is for their attentive service and wide selection. There are things I like and things I don't like about Cajun Kitchen. I'll try to sum it up quickly! Pros: +wide array of flavors for the crawfish. Thai Basil, garlic butter. Kitchen special, etc. (+1$ per pound if you order the TB or KS). They are all pretty, choosing one usually just depends on my mood for the day +they don't skimp on the limes +clean restrooms, considering you're in Chinatown *ketchup, butter and mayonnaise are in these really cute and convenient containers. It's so easy to refill your dipping sauce +the menu is extensive, so you have a bunch of different things to choose from including oysters, fried seafood plates, fried rice, etc +raw oysters are generally a good size here too Cons; -expensive. 9.99/pound is crazy. Especially when more than just a few of them were either way too soft, mushy, or literally would break apart into pieces. I can justify 10$/lb for amazingly good, large crawfish, but for what they've had lately... It's just not worth it anymore. -their "spicy" was hardly spicy. It was disappointing -you can't order corn/potatoes/sausage individually. It has to come in a full order. You end up paying close to 8$ for 3 potatoes, 3 sausage and 2 corn, and there's no way I'm gonna finish all of that with my 2lb (minimum) order of crawfish -boudin balls weren't good. They fell apart when I tried to dip them in the tartar sauce. It reminded me of really poorly rolled sushi. Irritating and depressing. -"Cajun" fries are literally just regular fries that barely have any seasoning on them. -service can be a hit or a miss. Last time I was there, we had an extra order of potatoes added to someone's crawfish and they forgot to put in an order. Other times service is spot on, with refills, check ups, everything.
