We went to check out theie menu when it was at the Portland Night Market, and when my bf saw that they had beignets, he had to have them, and he loved them. He saved some for breakfast the next day. I'm used to having beignets that are a little puffier, because these are more flat, but they were still good. So I went to an outdoor concert and this was the food truck. I went up to the food truck before they opened and ask the young lady if they cater to GF and they do. I also asked if they have mild food as I CANNOT do hot and I get they're Cajun food truck and naturally hotter spice. The girl said their rice is a milder spice than Mexican food, so I thought that'll work. I then ask about the catfish, and she said it was grilled. Yet when I got to the window when they opened I was informed it was blackened. I've had blackened fish and just scrapped off the pepper, and it just left a mold bite. I then adked if they could just do a filet without spice and the owner (I presumed by his rude comment) interject that he make no exception. The way he said it mad my friend and the 6 people behi d look up and tske a step back as it was gruff and threatening. I choose to ignore the rude man and continued with the young lady yhat now had a red face. So I thought ok, I'll try it. The best thing I can say is that the food smells good, it came up fairly fast, and they ask how many forks you want. I will say the coleslaw was very good, my friend who never had a hush puppy (and they were not GF) could have them. She like me can't do hot food and she said it had a mild bite. The rice has andouille sausage and they didn't inform me of that. I LOVE catfish and have had it many ways, since I was looking forward to it. The filet was such a thin filet I was truly surprised as I've never had catfish this thin. I pulled the filet off the rice and scraped what I could off and it was so hot I was surprised. I tried eating just the rice and that was so hot I couldn't eat it. So $20 down the drain. I brought home the leftovers thinking my husband could eat it and he said it was too hot for him too. If they'd just been honest with me and suggest I don't order food from them I wouldn't be writing this bad review. I left me thinking are they that desperate for money that they felt it's better to ripe off one person then be honorable and suggest I pass. Waited an hour outside for them to open after they were scheduled to. They finally opened the service window and I tried to order Jambalaya. Guy cooking the food looked at me as if I shot his dog and the person taking my order said it would take atleast another hour. How is a "cajun" food truck taking over 3 hours to make jambalaya, and charging $30 for a serving that can fit in the palm of my hand? Everything was super expensive and it seemed like they didn't really care about serving decent food on time. I really want to like and support this place, especially since there aren't many other options for Cajun food... but it's just gone downhill the past few years. The past 2 times I visited, the rice was undercooked, and portions were noticeably smaller. Most recently, despite no updates to their menu, my jambalaya order came with a small slaw salad and 2 hush puppies, and much less jambalaya than previously. If I wanted those items, I would've ordered them. Instead, since they likely have allergens that I can't eat (can't be sure because no allergens are listed anywhere), I needed to throw them away and I got less jambalaya while still paying $16. It'd also be nice if they had a consistent location, but I get that food truck rent is outrageous in most food cart parks. We were very excited to try this food truck as we are very much fans of Cajun food. We have been to Louisiana and know what to expect. I ordered the crawfish etoufee, the hush puppies, and the beignets. The etoufee was relatively bland, the hush puppies tasted like old oil, and the beignets were flat and chewy.. also oily. They also "accidentally" tipped themselves upon paying and while they offered to give it back, the fact that they did it to my daughter who paid next, left me feeling like it wasn't on the up & up. Had to wait 40 minutes for my food. I finally inquired after another person complained about having to wait 15 minutes (he was yelled at and served soon after). They said they ran out of catfish and had to start my order from scratch. They should have let me know it would be longer wait time and given me the option for a refund instead. I also feel they should have offered a partial refund, or at least my tip back, after the extreme delay - I paid nearly $50 for 2 plates. This was all after they opened an hour later than the posted time online due to a miscommunication with the site host, so I had to come back because they weren't ready yet. All that aside, the jambalaya, catfish, and hush puppies are very good; their etouffee is bland imo. I've told at least a dozen people about this place but warned the ones who followed up to ask about it today and personally won't be back. read more

I got lunch from Cajun Papa's truck. I'm a big fan of Cajun, Ainu was happy to see them, and I came away very pleased. I tried their jambalaya and blackened catfish. The catfish was more tender and delicious than I expected. The jambalaya prepared the traditional way, with alot of cooking fat; it's delicious, but pretty heavy. I'd love to try more of their food. All were delicious but do to the small portion sizes ended up having to order an additional meal elsewhere shortly after. Please see pictures. I'm baffled by any and all negative reviews on this place. Yes, a food truck can take a while to get your food when they're slammed. I get frustrated by that too sometimes but let's focus on the quality of the food. I would seriously pay top dollar to eat this ridiculously good Cajun at a restaurant. I got the who dat and it was divine. A bed of jambalaya covered in etouffe topped with blackened catfish oh my! Got me singing your praises Cajun papa! Yes, it's $25 but you're basically getting 2 meals worth of food. It's so freaking good that I just happened to eat it all. Definitely heavy and I'm good with that cause fat is flavor. By the way, we got our food in 15 minutes and it was busy. They came out to the parking lot where I work at the Water Tower today. Food is good but the truck service is not speedy. While I was alerted it would take an hour for jambalaya (which is already a very long wait for a food truck and their main dish) it actually ended up taking 80 minutes.
