    Jambalaya
    Scott H.

I feel this could easily have been a five. It's very possible I just got the wrong thing. I have always wanted to try but they are always closed when I come. I couldn't decide so I got the jambalaya and crawfish po boy. The jambalaya was pretty good. Rice had the right texture. A little light on proteins. Good flavor. Nice and spicy. Texture was a little dry. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that. It ended up being two meals worth though. Po boy was very good. I like the fry on the seafood but the ratio just wasn't right on the crawfish. I'd be willing to try shrimp next time. Really good chewy bread. Way too much mayo though. Fries were soggy and forgettable. Probably could have put it over the top I'd return for sure

Being from the south eastern United States I will tell you that this is the best gumbo attempt that I have had in Oregon This man has a wonderfully flavor, dark brew that is just amazing sitting on some rice. Just checking to see good. The sausage had a little off taste to it but either way I still think that this place is definitely worth trying out at least for this plate. 8.3/10! Would definitely be back. Only if the card is nice, and the service was good, didn't take too long for the food .

Today I had the Fried Oyster Po-boy with Crystal hot sauce. Top marks all around. The oysters were fried perfectly crispy but still juicy. It came with seasoned fries - a great accompaniment.

Big flavor from a little cart! Stopped by the BG Cartel today to grab some lunch, and I decided to try this place out after looking at their menu. Had trouble deciding between the red beans and rice, jambalaya, and po' boy since they all looked great, but ultimately decided on the sandwich. When I ordered, the women told me they had a rotating specials menu and asked if I'd be interested in the crawfish po' boy instead. She was kind enough to explain the flavor difference to me and I ultimately decided to order that. It was DELICIOUS. The bread was flaky and warm, there was tons of crawfish, and the breading was excellent. The fries that came on the side were perfectly damaged and cooked. They also have a menu of homemade hot sauces you can choose from. I chose medium and it was really, really good. Perfect compliment to the sandwich. Actually, I would have purchased a bottle of it if they sold it separately. Between the food and the great service, I will definitely be eating here again.

    The awesome owners!!

Hands down, one of THE BEST PLACES to check out when your at the BG food carts! Let me just start off saying: I was a total non believer. Normally, not a sandwich gal. Soggy bread with flat old soppy veggies and weird meat.... unless it's homemade or a butcher run establishment- 9/10 my experience with sandwiches has not been great. So, I learned to avoid ordering or looking for them. My husband has been a big fan of this place for over a year and every time, I would 100% see him enjoying his sandwich, but I always thought-- it's because this dude relatively enjoys sandwiches. Well, I finally ordered a PoBoy Shrimp and OH MY GOODNESS.... literally, SHOOKED!! Let's start with the bread! Perfectly made bread (freshly flew in from New Orleans) with delicious and I mean delicious mayo and freshly bed of lettuce and tomatoes with crisp shrimp. Now, your thinking (( it sounds too simple. )) absolutely NOT. Everything is unbelievably fresh and so well made that I was so sad I finished my meal. My husband and I debated on going back to order a second one!! Haha, it was that epic. The sauces are also over the park amazing. I believe the kind gentleman said he grew all the peppers and his son is the chef and makes everything from scratch. Let's move on to how this food truck is always very clean. The owners are all very nice and bonus it is family run. We will be back. Back for more poboys, jambalaya, and gumbo (oh, they also have vegan options). We may even back in 2 hrs for 'dinner'.

My bf and I went to the food cart park in Beaverton for a late breakfast. We shared a crepe and a waffle sandwich, but we felt something was missing, so we decided to share some gumbo as well. I went up to place my order and the man behind the cart window warmly greeted me. He asked me which sauce I wanted, and there were many options (all spicy). I don't do so spicy but I asked about their spiciest sauce for my bf. They said they don't usually give their ghost pepper sauce out (unless people ask specifically). Since he offered, I went for the opportunity! A few minutes later, we picked up the gumbo, sauces, and mini-corn muffins. The chicken and sausage was very tender (they also have a vegan choice) and the gumbo itself was savory and perfect for a chilly morning. I dont get to eat a lot of gumbo, but something about the gravy like stock + upside down rice-dome made it a very satisfying meal~ They told me they make everything in house, and it really comes through in the food. I'd totally recommend the food cart and the food!

    Crawfish étouffée: so darn good.

An excellent version of crawfish étouffée, one of the best I've had. Price points are fair. Service was much quicker than the other carts in this massive pod. The owners/workers are very nice.

We were ordering BBQ at the truck next door and saw the listing for a pickle plate and had to have it. OMG - if you love pickled vegetables as much as we do you have to try this! The pickled apples (who knew you could pickle apples) were amazing! So we're the watermelon rings, green beans, radishes, corn on cob and cauliflower. There was some sprouts also but they had a stronger spice (anise maybe?) I didn't care for. Will definitely come back for this and maybe a shrimp po boy next time!

Love loved loved this whole experience from start to finish. We were visiting family in the area and were introduced to the food trailer scene. This location had several stalls and plenty of parking across the street. I initially walked up to this place because my love of po' boys, what made me order from there was the sign that said "we are a fully vaccinated truck". When I said to the woman running the window that I liked the sign, she told me that she is a full-time healthcare worker, and engaged me in a great conversation. From that moment I was in. I ordered the shrimp po' boy, bread pudding, and the intriguing Cajun Chex mix. We were able to grab a table without issue and my food was ready very quickly. The chef didn't mind my one modification of "no tomatoes" because as the lovely lady told me, "chef doesn't like tomatoes either". I brought my tower of boxes over to the tables and dug right in. First let's talk about the sandwich. Great bread! There is nothing worse than a sandwich with shitty bread...this roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They LOADED it with a ton of shrimp. No skimpy portions here. I normal don't finish my food, but I ate every bite of this sandwich. The Chex mix was a total surprise. It was loaded with flavor and a nice pair to the sandwich. I brought this back to the hotel and got my crunch on while reading my book. Lastly, the bread pudding. Now, I hate raisins with a fiery passion. I say that they are the devils candy. When she told me there were golden raisins I almost didn't order it. I decided I would eat around them. How we, when I dug in I can confidently say that they didn't bother me. The flavor paired with the sauce and the gooey confection were perfect. This is my long winded love letter saying that if this is an option, you should definitely try it out. You won't be disappointed.

We both ordered a Moroccan stewed chicken that comes with saffron rice, salad, and three spicy sauces - one yogurt and maybe sumac? , one sriracha, and one yogurt mixed with sriracha maybe? We liked the rice, chicken, salad, and the yogurt sauce. Just ok though. Not omg good. I wish the two other sauces had been in separate containers and not on the rice. My mint and honey tea was fine. Kid's boba was not full. Not because it spilled either, because it was sealed with the boba seal lid thingy. For $6 that was disappointing. The hummus and dolmades plate came with one sad not good pita, ONE, and I think our Uber eats driver flung it out the window like kids used to deliver newspapers from their bikes because yogurt sauce was freaking everywhere. The hummus was not great. Teen ( the dolmades fan) said the grape leaves were good. Probably not a repeat in store. One and done.

Well, after finally getting a chance to browse all the pods, I found Dad's chicken, but nothing was grillin'. So I came back here to Pares PDX Express instead. Checked out the side menu, checked out the prices, and out comes a brutha from anotha mutha! Welcomes me, so I asked my pare "What's good?" He said, "Everything!" smh, "Damn!" A good sign :(but not a good sign for me healthwise:) haha! I asked how long he's been open, and he said, "Since September." Still fresh and new to me, so my yelpie duty was to support my locals. Here's what I ordered: Drawn to the Crispy Kare-Kare ($15), this caught my eyes! (Optional read) Typically, the Filipino kare-kare meat used is with cuts of chuck steak and boney beef neck. Some like using pork hocks. Sometimes kare-kare will have beef tripe added. But personally for me, I love my mom's version using oxtail. I don't like the neck, I don't need tripe, it's gotta be OXTAIL!!! Besides, it's all about the stew and the saucy peanut buttery flavor. About Pares PDX kare-kare version... I saw "Crispy" and knew this was referring to either crispy pata or lechon kawali (aka deep fried pork belly with skin). They serve their kare-kare with crispy pork belly, bok choy, long string beans, and eggplant. The stew of peanut sauce was drizzled on top. With the home-made shrimp bagoong (fried shrimp paste) in between. I would have stayed outside on the patio tables, but it was going to rain. So I rushed home, and mmm mmm mmm the pieces were still nice and crispy indeed! I haven't had pork belly in so long that I was in heaven, not worrying if I needed to go to the hospital afterwards lol. You can have the dish with plain rice or garlic rice. I chose the garlic rice, which is almost a given. A bit of more information: ~ They've got a QR code to view the menu and/or place an order. ~ Majority or nearly all of the dishes were $15 average. ~ To feed your eyes, there are pics of the dishes on the side of the truck. ~ Service was pleasant and fast. Can't say I'll ever order what I can make myself, like adobo, sisig, pinoy style spaghetti, or lumpia, but I will definitely be back to try their version of pansit palabok, laing, dinuguan, and turon. I'll even try their "halo halo" next time! The Filipino authenticity, kinda like mom's style is here! Come check them out!

Multiple times now, I have placed an order, watched the status change to "Confirmed" and even "Preparing," only for the restaurant or their system to cancel the order abruptly after the Dasher is already assigned or on their way. This is not just a minor inconvenience; it completely wastes time and effort planning a meal. A major contributing factor is that they frequently forget to close and update their DoorDash channel, showing they are available for online ordering when they are not. It gives the false hope that the food is on its way, only to be cancelled last minute, forcing a scramble to find dinner/lunch elsewhere. The management needs to seriously address their online order process, communication with delivery platforms, and their kitchen capacity. If you cannot fulfill an order, it should be rejected immediately, not 30-40 minutes after confirmation. Until this issue is fixed, I cannot recommend ordering from here, especially for delivery. It's too unreliable to depend on.
