The new location is really nice. Definitely a change. Being someone who cooks and loves Cajun style dishes I was anxious to see how things turned out with the move. I had the shrimp and crawfish etoufee and the gumbo. The gumbo was underwhelming and the etoufee had plenty of rice compared to meat. The roux was excellent, and the rice done right, but the mountain of rich swamped the meat and made the dish more of a rice and roux with a bit of shrimp and crawfish. I was disappointed. When I first ate at the old location the quality seemed much better. The food was not bad, it just lacked that Louisiana flair and almost as if somebody decided people in this part of the country would not appreciate true cajun cooking. A new POS system for the staff to navigate made for an interesting time of getting to know how to put the orders in. Not a big deal. Maybe I will try it again someday. read more

New address: 1603 Grand Ave. Suite 145B Had dinner tonight on Wednesday, August 30th to celebrate my sister's birthday. A party of four. Time was 6 PM. There was some confusion with Front of House (Hostess) in getting us seated. Possibly due to large influx of people coming through the door. Server, who was outstanding & super friendly, come over to get our drink order. Apparently, Lemonade was not available due to being out of stock. (Not sure how lemonade can be out of stock...) After drinks arrived, our party of four placed our orders for our entrees with side salads. When, our side salads arrived, we were told that Caesar salad was not available & out of stock for one of my party of four. Side salads were not chilled & were overall just iceberg lettuce. I had a half of a tiny cherry tomato for my salad along with huge slices of red onion, two pieces of cucumber, & some shredded cheese. Dinner entrees were good overall. I've had issues in past with dishes being over salted. Three of my party decided to order dessert. After waiting for a extreme amount of time to get the desserts, they eventually arrived. Our server kept giving us updates & apologizing for the extreme delay. Our server, eventually stated she would comp the desserts from the bill. The Back of the House (kitchen) is seriously lacking in delivering food on time for this restaurant. Also, a restaurant should never be out of stock on common drinks (lemonade) or side salads (Ceasar salad). The table setup with the half booth is not optimal & too cramped. People should not be sitting on top of other customers. Tables are too small. Prices for food at this restaurant are high & have been raised from their original establishment before their merger. With the cost of living high for everything, there are other restaurants in Billings that provide a better value & overall service (better kitchen efficiency). In short, our server was outstanding & super friendly. First impressions are everything & I rarely give a restaurant a second chance. read more

I have been here twice and the food is delicious but I have a problem with too much fried food. My daughter had shrimp and grits and really liked them. I enjoyed my seafood platter with the deep fried biscuit but should have chosen a different item. Their desserts sound decadent but too full to get one. read more

Delicious! I ordered the Cajun shrimp and cheesy grits, extra spicy and they definitely listened to my request on the spice. The only negative on our entire order was that we wished there were more protein in the dishes. My shrimp and grits only came with about 4 small bites of sausage and 4 smaller shrimp. Doesn't seem worth the cost. Over all It was still delicious. We also tried the gator bites and the jambalaya. Aside from being a bit overpriced for the quantity, we'd still recommend. read more

We always stop here for lunch when in Billings Mt. I get the shrimp basket every time. Lightly battered shrimp fried to perfection with fries and a deep fried biscuit! Soooo good!! My husband had the chicken and sausage gumbo this most recent visit. Just the right amount of spice and very delicious! Great portion sizes too. We had leftovers for lunch the next day. We have been traveling through the Rockies since early April. We stayed a month in Cody and ate at only one restaurant more than once. When we got to Billings we saw an ad on tv for this place. The lady says, "it's all about the roux y'all ". Well it is all about the roux. And they NAILED it! I haven't had crawfish etouffee like that since I last ate at Brennan's or Commander's Palace. Good food- I had the gumbo( chicken and sausage)- it was tasty and the cup size was a good amount. I would say very much comparable to real Cajun food. The shrimp tacos were also very good- the breading was light and crispy. The order comes with two good size tacos- and our server was a funny gal said that " the portions are not shrimpy" she was cute for sure. Potato chips or pay extra for fries was the accompaniment for the tacos. It's a small restaurant with very friendly staff. We were new to the area and from the south so we were excited to get a little taste of home! We got the blackened chicken tasso and andouille pasta which was a 8.5/10 and a very good portion size! We also got the fish poboy and it was very tasty as well! Definitely has that delicious cajun flavor and I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. Had the fried green tomatoes. For being so very far away from the South I thought they were good, sliced too thick but they were fried correctly so thumbs up on that. The crab meat topping was misleading, more like a crumble or a dusting but really just an insinuation of crab meat. If it's used that little, it's probably going bad. A NOLA serving it was not but is had a DC price point. The server was terrible. She wasn't the least bit embarrassed that I got up to get my own refill since she was so busy talking to the table behind us, she actually tried to joke that I must like the tea. Eyeroll. A larger coffee pot maybe be in order if the staff is going to drink it and also, try not to mix the chickory and the Folgers. Or just serve community coffee from Nola? Interesting to me is that I traveled 1,800 miles west of Tennessee to eat some of the best shrimp and grits I've had in a long time. The crab cake appetizer was generous and YUMMY!! The portion was large, but it was not a great experience taste wise. Less is more sometimes and the spices used would fit that mold. I eat a lot of cajun food down South, but this was straight overwhelming. I would like to try it again for a shot at redemption but I will not go out of my way to do that. read more

I probably should have tried something different, but this was my experience... I didn't care for the okra, or the catfish... The fries and chips were good. The shrimp was tasty... The red beans and rice and dirty rice were pretty good. The biscuit was spectacular. It was maybe a smidge expensive - but I don't think it was as expensive as some of the other reviewers. The food was pretty good. The frog legs were fine but didn't do much for me. The breading was good which leads me to believe the fried chicken would be great. I had the kitchen sink jambalaya. While it was good, I which it had more of the kitchen sink (veggies) in it. It was mostly mildly spicy rice with meat. Having said that, the meats were tasty and they use a nice andouille sausage. My husband had a cup of gumbo which is something I don't usually like. I liked this gumbo! He also got the ettoufee which he said was good. For dessert, we shared the apple crisp. Wow. It was really good but it didn't have much crisp on it. It would be fantastic if there was more of the topping. That said, I would order the crisp again! We will come back next time we are in town. Ordered take out from them tonight as a pre birthday dinner. Walked in and ordered from receptionist so had no other interaction with anyone else. It sounded like people were enjoying the meal from what I could hear. Looked like a nice restaurant!Young girl at the front was very friendly and nice(first impression are very important and she really knocked it out of the park). Now for the food it was off the charts, I ordered shrimp and grits (got a salad with it and for dessert fried bread pudding (my favorite desert). Salad was great some nice touch maybe a few candied nuts would be a nice touch. Wow what can I say about the shrimp and grits. I haven't had that good of grits since I was in Nashville. The gator bites are Amazing! And the dirty rice is sooooo good. They freaking deep fry their biscuits which are out of this world. I'm not a fan of catfish but I even like it here. Yum, Yum, Yum! We tried Cajun Patty's for the first time yesterday for lunch. First time ever eating out of a food truck. I was amazed by the quality and tastiness of the food. We met the owner, she was delightful, right along with the other staff. They have a nice selection of Cajun foods on the menu, that I was told gets updated regularly. This being a food truck, they do move locations throughout the week, so check their facebook page for the latest info on where they are. Now down to the important part, what we thought of the food. I ordered the crabcake po'boy. This thing was massive, much bigger than I expected. All of the ingredients were fresh and yummy. The crabcakes where wonderful and very big. You can't get crabcakes of this quality for the price they ask anywhere else. This is for sure a place that is a must try. read more

The 5 stars are for flying in LIvE seafood from Louisiana despite the rest of the industry importing cheap frozen seafood from Asia and the absolutely great attitude of the people! The crawfish was irresistible and had my man ordering 3lbs vs. the 1lb he was originally after. The shrimp tacos had tender, large grilled shrimp and a savory light sauce. I would like to give this more stars because of the very good shrimp tacos but the fries that came with them tasted like too salty frozen fries that had not been cooked enough. Three friends ordered three desserts. The apple crisp and lemon icebox pie were to die for. The bread pudding was nothing special. About half way through our lunch a young man came in and sat up his guitar, amp, microphone and tip bucket not 3 feet behind our table. A lot of places say they have southern food.... some of them are good. This place will make you feel like you are in Louisiana on the bayou. It's not like southern food.... It is southern food. I can't even tell you what taste the best because it is all absolutely perfect and so full of flavor.
