My second review of this unique offering in Lowell VT. Small eatery, you can drive by it if you're not watching for it. They did an amazing job staying open during the hard times of social distancing during the hard pandemic period and provided great outdoor car service. It's easier now, their prices have increased very slightly but they still provide great food at very reasonable prices. We have been back many times since my first review and their food quality is still terrific. I feel that their seafood offerings are very reasonably priced compared to going to the coast and it's has proven to be prepared much better than what we received in Maine at a much lower cost. I'm totally hooked on their shrimp poor boy. Hubbies fried scallops, fried whole belly clams or fried oysters have always been cooked and served properly. Very generous portions. We see the Cajun as our "go to" for a seafood place in Vermont. You can eat eat in the dining room, outside at one of their tables or in your vehicle. It can be very busy there, rightly so. Nothing like it used to be. Went father's day the special was steak and lobster, lobster was beyond dry and very "fishy" steak was not steak but more like stew meat. Only flavor in the chicken tenders was grease. Will not be going there again read more

First can i say. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! This staff is so sweet and nice oh my god. The time for our food may have been 20-30 minutes but i'm pretty sure it's because the food is fresh. Since moving to the area a year ago, so many people have asked if we've been to Cajun's yet. We finally gave it a try last weekend, and after all the build-up it was a pretty big disappointment. Lettuce, huge pieces of tomato, grated cheese and large fried chicken chunks do not make a taco salad. That was the strangest thing. My son ordered a cheeseburger, and it literally consisted of nothing more. Just a burger with cheese on a bun. No lettuce. No tomato or onion slices. No sauce. Perhaps you have to ask for the things that normally come on a burger? The onion rings and fried mushrooms were excessively greasy, as if the oil hadn't been hot enough. Otherwise, they would have been good. My grandson's poutine fries had the same problem. Way too greasy. We had such high hopes, but Cajun's just didn't live up to the hype. When I shared our experience with a few people, they all said the same thing - "yeah, Cajun's has gone downhill in the last few years." read more

We ordered ahead, went inside to get the food, the nice girl told us to go to the window, but never told the window girl we arrive, so we waited and waited and waited, and received cold food. The chicken strips looked like they were cooked with buttermik coating and burnt, and I threw up hem out. My wife's whole belly clams were missing half their bellies. The fries were only ok because they were cold. Not pleasant and my stomach hurts me all night. Not a pleasant experience since we drove almost an hour to get there. read more

We'd read online that Cajun's prioritized take away orders, but we did not have that experience at all. Because of a google review saying so, we called first, but we received a very friendly message telling us to come on in person because they were busy and weren't able to take phone orders at that time. Boy are we glad we made the trip. Their reputation of being friendly is all true. Yes, we waited an hour for our food, but we saw how busy this place was and once we realized that each and every order is made to order...not one thing is prepared ahead of time.. we were prepared to wait. We got our drinks in advance and brought a deck of cards! The kitchen is in full view and the people who work there seem to get along, always on the move, and worked so hard. And then there is the food. We did not have an easy time choosing from the full menu. Burgers are fresh ground! Fries are hand cut! The seafood was breaded and fried right there! Fresh and delicious. This snack shack/diner has an amazing menu. The menu is large so check it out. There is a lot of fried but don't let that scare you away. Though I did not try the salad it looked healthy and well put together. I shared two plates with my brother. We did whole bellied clams and scallops. Both options came fried with close slaw. You also have the option of French fries or onion rings. Both the fries and onion rings are made in house. The price was 19.99 each. The plates were a very good size. We had left overs. Very reasonably priced and good quality snack bar food! The curbside ordering was easy and safe (COVID-19), and the food was plentiful and delicious - WAY better than Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, ME (and much more affordable!) The parking lot was filled with locals on side-by-sides, covered in mud. Relaxed, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely return! We ordered a cold lobster roll (Mayo based), seafood chowder, haddock sandwich and onion rings. Lobster roll was fresh and plentiful. Haddock sandwich was big - came with tartar sauce on it and some kind of cheese (velveeta?), the chowder was thick and delicious. And the onion rings were hot and crispy. Best snack shack in the area!! There's indoor and outdoor seating. There is an outdoor bathroom. I love the Po boys and broccoli cheese bites the most, but they also have sundaes and milk shakes! Three times the charm. Tried on a Tuesday but they were closed, then tried on a Sunday...not a place to park or stand! Told there would be an hour wait. They have quite a business. Came back on the following Wednesday at 2PM and found a seat! EVERYTHING is fried and wonderful! Husband had hot lobster sandwich with drawn butter and french fries. The staff is very friendly, the food is great, the prices are very reasonable, and the outdoor patio is nice to eat outside on. As long as you realize that this is not a great restaurant for a vegetarian or a formal dinner, you'll have a nice experience here.
