I ordered a Tre Leches cake for a birthday. When I went to pick it up there was no milk on it. I brought this to their attention and they said they only do the sponge. That is something they really should have said on the pnone while taking the order! I have never had any other Bakery do this when I pick up the cake! There was ko time to order from somewhere else so I took the cake and had to go buy the milks at a busy grocery and soak it. In addition to this the quality of the writing on the cake was poor and they decorated it in BLUE! I have no idea why but the frosting had BLUE food coloring in it which I had not asked for (strawberries had been ordered). I will be warning my friends away from this Bakery. Update: that nasty BLUE frosting turned our mouths and teeth blue! NASTY! It also stained my fingers when some got on while transferring the cake to a sheet pan for soaking. Giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 because I'm trying to stay positive. Hoping this place can use my review to improve. So I ordered a cake for my niece's birthday. A simple cake I asked for, one with drawings of butterflies, flowers and a happy birthday. Nothing too difficult. They charged me around $60 so I was waiting for the simple basic chocolate mousse vanilla cake to taste/look great. Well this is what I got, a messy "Happy Birthday Laila" written on it. Some frosting flowers and butterflies. Not eatable butterflies but ones made with feathers! Not only did I specifically ask for everything to be drawn on, I automatically expected that a bakery would use only eatable items unless asked for otherwise. Anyways that was gross because who knows where those feathered butterflies have been. I doubt they disinfect them since they look like they're from a craft store. (Magnet on the bottom of the butterfly) Another thing is, I asked for chocolate mousse cream instead of frosting and guess what I got? Frosting. Plain, cheap, chocolate frosting. I'm not trying to sound like those people that act like absolutely everything someone does for them is wrong no, the cake tasted alright. But if someone were to ask me to recommend this to someone, I wouldn't. I'll just stick to Kneader's next time. Sorry but this was not worth the $60 price, maybe a $20. read more

Cake world is fantastic. This has been my family's go-to bakery for any occasion for the last 15+ years. Cakes are always yummy, moist, flavorful, and perfectly sweet. They are the best family-owned local neighborhood bakery. I ordered over the phone for a Tiramisu that said happy birthday dad, and they exceeded expectations as always. They added the cherries and I was very surprised to have what I assume was a sort of airy cream cheese/cheesecake frosting that blended together perfectly. I also got some pan (Latin bread) and other desserts from the case, and everything was under 100. I couldn't recommend this place more for some quick desserts for a get-together or a cake for an occasion! read more

I first ordered a naked cake for a baby shower. It was supposed to be a 10 in 4 layer cake. When the baby shower was canceled, I asked for a refund. I was told no. I decided to use the credit for my husband's birthday. I was told that I could only get a 1/4 sheet 2 layer cake. I said ok but asked for raspberry filling. The design was supposed to be a Mickey Mouse sugar wafer. The sugar wafer was dull and not cut straight. It looked like the printer was running out of ink. The additional decorations where horribly done and ugly. The raspberry filling was not flavorful at all and it had seeds. The buttercream icing tasted like lard. I felt I could have gotten a better quality cake from Walmart and paid $20 instead of $85. So disappointed. read more

Found this place one random Saturday with my family. The store looks small on the outside but they have lots of choices inside. I had a slice of chocolate moose cake. My wife had macaroons Filipino style. My daughter had cannolis. My son had a donut. The chocolate moose cake was moist and delicious. It was really good. My wife loved the maroons. They weren't ridiculously sweet but had just the right amount of coconut. My daughter devoured her cannolis with gusto. However, my son only ate half his donut. I tried a piece and it wasn't as sweet as as a donut from Pinkbox or Dunkin's. My wife liked it but I didn't care for it. Overall, the prices in this bakery is much more reasonable than Freed's or other big name bakeries. The quality is good too. Please come out and support this bakery. My main goal with visiting Cake World was to get a birthday cake and I did succeed. But i wasnt expecting to try something each time i visited the shop. I needed a birthday cake to be done within a week and I had been throwing around designs. Nancy helped me out with trying to figure out exactly how I wanted the cake and the sizing. She was very nice and patient. I ended up going with a chocolate cake with dulce de leche filling. I was surprised with how big and heavy the cake actually turned out, but it was four layers. It was really moist and the dulce de leche was rich. There was also a nice balance between the two since the cake wasnt too sweet. It was a hit at the party. Everyone complimented the design and how pretty it was. I also tried their Tres Leches cake, the one specifically with the different fruit on top. It had kiwi, orange, strawberry. It was delicious and I normally dont like desserts with filling in the middle. I also tried the concha, and that was delicious too. It was soft and fluffy on the inside. The most memorable item I've had from Cake World is their Tres Leches cake. Oh my goodness, it's super good and this is coming from somebody who shouldn't be having dairy - the pain is worth it! I've also tried their Chocolate Mousse cake which was pretty and yummy. But the Tres Leches is where it's at. They have Danishes, doughnuts, Conchas, turnovers and other baked goods. Guava turnovers and pineapple turnovers are good here too. I normally get a half-sheet of Tres Leches cake and have it decorated. I used this bakery for my son's first birthday cake. At that time, I was not thrilled about the decorating skills on the cake, but it tasted great. So this year, I decided to give them a second chance. I spoke with Manuel about our last experience and he reassured me that he would make it right this time. I provided several photos of ideas of acceptable cake designs and even provided figurines of the characters to incorporate on top. When I picked up the cake, I was disappointed again. The decorating was not the worst, but he added an edible printout of the character that was too small scale for the cake size. It was also smooshed a bit and not evenly placed on top which sucked since it was the center of the design. The rest of the piped-on decor was decent. To his credit, the cake was delicious. The chocolate cake was so moist and the fresh strawberries were awesome. I love their whipped cream frosting which is not too sweet and very light. I know I will return to this bakery again in the future, but only if I do not have a complicated cake design request. read more

My son and I ordered a cake from here -- on the website it says pink velvet cake. We ordered the cake and gave them the colors that we'd like to have on it. My son picked the cake up and it was red velvet with pink and red frosting. A pretty cake for a girl but nothing as we asked! After my son did not get resolution to this-- I called and the manager said for me to bring the cake back. After many cake orders this will be my last. We asked for a neon drip cake. He did explain he could not do glow in the dark, but said the colors would be bright. We provided photos and even sprinkles for the cake. We asked for Oreo or cookies and cream filling with chocolate cake. What we received was a cake that was melting from within. You can see the cake was bulging out and the accents were melting off the cake. This was after 5 hours in our refrigerator. The inside of the cake was missing a layer of frosting and was basically buttercream with chocolate cake layers. For $65 I expected a better result. I learned that this place is family owned and crafting custom cakes, pastries, pies, cookies, breads etc. They can bake any kind of cake for a birthday, wedding, baby shower, thank you cake etc. There were several cakes on display, and there was one smaller size that I was interested in but I didn't want just chocolate. The owner says they can bake what I want and can be done by 3pm. I decided not since I didn't feel like coming back. I noticed they were several whole cake but was sliced and they sell them by the piece. They also have fresh pastries, donuts, and pan dulce. I decided to try some of their pastries : Bavarian cream horns, Elephant ears, Guava turnovers, Chocolate eclair, apple turnovers etc. The turnover was flaky, and light but lacked the butter flavor. They were friendly, the cake was delicious, it was on time but despite an email with exactly what was to be written on the cake the name was wrong and the message was incorrect. Unfortunately I wasn't the one picking up the cake. The person picking up the cake corrected the name but not the message. They used the message that was on the picture of the cake that I gave as an example of what I wanted. It was a bachelorette party but had a message about being old instead... there was a language barrier and that's what I attribute the mistake to.
