We eloped at Friday Harbor House and our cake was provided by Felicitations. We received a vanilla gluten free cake with vanilla buttercream and berries. The cake looked beautiful and we were surprised by how delicious it was. Gluten free cake is hit and miss, but we found the texture to be nice and the frosting wasn't overly sweet. I had the pleasure of working with Felicity at a Roche Harbor Wedding over the past weekend and she created a beautiful dessert bar and custom wedding cake for my clients. The dessert table was stunningly beautiful and more than that - it was so delicious that every bit of dessert was eaten by the end of the night and the guests were asking for more. Felicity is able to make so many different pastries and sweets and each of them is totally melt in your mouth delicious. The centerpiece of the dessert table was the chocolate and salted caramel two tier wedding cake with rustic buttercream frosting decorated with fresh flowers and grey satin ribbon. STUNNING. Felicity placed the fresh flowers on site and it turned out gorgeous!! Additionally, the she made fruit tarts, chocolate mousse cups, lemon bars, brownies, mixed berry hand pies, and passion fruit mousse tasters that were out of this world good to the last morsel. I can't say enough about what an artist Felicity is. Her presentation is beautiful. Everything she makes is delicious. She has an infectious smile and you will love everything about her. This review hurts to write. We requested a cake for our 10 yr anniversary, basically a recreation of our wedding cake - almond cake with raspberry filling and seashells for decoration. The cake was decorated beautifully, and when I picked it up, it was apparent that she really cares about what she makes and bakes. We were really excited to eat this beautiful cake, poured champagne, and took a bunch of pictures. Unfortunately, the cake was nearly inedible - I'm not sure if it was over baked, but the cake itself was hard, dense, and dry. The fondant was a little too thick and gummy. Our 11 and 6 yr olds also didn't eat it. I didn't contact the shop owner because we were only on the island a short time. But, based on the number of five star reviews, we must have had a one-off experience. read more

Wow, Felicity is nice and a fantastic cake maker. In preparation for my wedding, my mom and I went to several cake places that made gluten-free cakes (I have an allergy). Felicitations, by far, was the best of all of these, even with friends who are not gluten-free (who also seriously could not tell that they were gluten-free!). Her cake was moist and delicious, and she was able to do a custom cake MIT Building 10 cake (see the pictures!). She was able to perfectly replicate the MIT dome building. We wanted pumpkin flavor and almond, and both were super delightful. I can't recommend her more! read more

My girlfriend surprised me with a weekend away in Friday Harbor for my birthday. One of the best parts of that weekend was my birthday cake from 'Cakes by Felicitations'. It was amazing! A multiple-layered chocolate cake with hints of espresso! Every layer was as tasty as any cake I've ever had. I made certain that the few pieces left over at the end of the weekend went back home with me on the ferry! The presentation was just as fabulous as the cake itself - it was beautiful. And the owner delivered it to our room at a local bed & breakfast so that it would be a total surprise. To use an overused cliche - but one that seems really appropriate - the cake from Felicitations was truly the 'icing on the cake' of a wonderful weekend! I would highly recommend this business! Felicity did a great job with our wedding cake and dessert buffet. We got loads of compliments about the blackberry-lavender pie and the passionfruit cake. She really cared about the presentation, as well, returning twice to the (not-all-that-close) wedding site to make sure the cake and desserts were set up at the proper time to avoid melting in the summer heat at our wedding. Felicity was spectacular. I am from the Bay Area and was trying to do a destination weddings in Friday harbor. We ordered a small 6" elopement cake from Felicity, but even though our cake was small the service we received was just as wonderful as I would imagine if we had spent far more money. The cake tasting experience was so fun, and her cakes were all so delicious it was hard to choose! We settled on an almond cake, and even though she does not normally make a cherry filling she was willing to make one for us. On the day of our wedding our cake was absolutely beautiful! Felicity baked a really awesome cake for us. Here's the story: My girlfriend and I went to San Juan Island for her birthday. She loves orcas, so I wanted to surprise her with an orca-themed birthday cake, and Felicity created a custom cake in the shape of an orca. The cake was really a work of art, as the orca came with fins and a white underbelly. We were kind of hesitant to actually eat the cake, it was so beautiful, but it was just as good on the inside (i.e. delicious) as on the outside. My girlfriend and I enjoyed delicious cake leftovers for days. And it was delivered, free of charge and ahead of our arrival, to the hotel where we were staying. Anyway, we LOVED the cake.
