Cake's is the locals go-to spot, cuz we know what's really good around here! The food is delicious, and they have everything you want no matter what your hunger level. Sometimes, my go to is one of their yummy pastries, but if I'm real hungry, I'll go for a breakfast burrito or a Panini with a side salad. The service is so good you leave feeling like an old friend of the staff. They are warm, engaging, and always happy to see you. The ambience is chill with plenty of places to sit and chat or work. There's good music playing in the background and great events going on throughout the week at various staggered times. The location is smack dab in downtown with a gorgeous view of the famous Seret and Sons from their large windows that let in tons of lovely natural light. I'm writing because I was very disappointed by the way I was treated last night by your server, Air(not sure of his spelling). I was enjoying the evening of karaoke, and sang a couple songs. I bought a drink, a cinnamon roll to go, and got two tasters of their beers on tap. And then the server Air walked over and announced loudly at me explaining how it's a business, and getting those beer tasters was a crime, and he was going to get security, and he just went on and on, and his angry tone was so unpleasant and confrontational, that it ruined my night there. I left Cakes feeling so frustrated and disappointed by the way I was treated by that guy, that I dont feel comfortable going back. read more

A cool cafe that offers artsy vibes and great lattes. We stopped in several times over our stay in Santa Fe! So much so that we completed a punch card for a free coffee. Each day someone else was working the counter and every single person was inviting and friendly. We tried the iced caramel latte and iced brown sugar espresso. The caramel latte was our favorite. I did not stop in for food since even though the board mentioned gluten-free options, it seemed like the staff wasn't really informed about them. The cafe also hosts several events. This place is really cute, and seems like it has a great atmosphere. The ambiance and seating is great. However, I wouldn't say I had a great experience. I ordered a Mexican Mocha, and while good, it didn't taste spiced as advertised. Additionally, it was a double, but costed over $10. Lastly, the woman working at the counter wasn't particularly nice. At the counter, she was straight to the point in a way that felt a little harsh/aggressive. I've been a barista for a couple places over a few years, and never found myself talking to customers that way. My partner was waiting for me outside the restroom, and she rudely told him it wasn't a public restroom. He explained that he was just waiting for me, and that I had in fact made a purchase, but she still responded in a rude tone before she walked away. I completely understand the concern over the restrooms, but approaching the situation with rudeness is unnecessary, especially once explained. I'm glad we stopped by, and I'm sure this is a nice place that people enjoy. Based on other ratings, it seems to be great usually. I fell into this place upon arriving in Sante Fe today. I started with a Mexican Cacoa coffee drink and then got a roasted green chili pannini. YUM to both. The sandwich comes with a variety of side options. I chose a green salad with balsamic viniagrette. The place is funky, wirh good music playing and is very dog friendly- hence the relaxed dog pic. Two workers with only one who knew what they were doing, so we waited at least 30 minutes after ordering for something that should've taken max of 10. This is an artsy spot serving a handful of food options. We picked this as a second choice after the place we found parking for and walked too turned out to be closed. Cake's was nearby and as it turned out, had more than cakes and breakfast. They had a very tasty garbanzo bean salad that we both enjoyed. Nice and tangy with a clear balsamic type sauce/dressing. Both the pizza and Italian BLT were a nice surprise for what is mostly a coffee cafe from the looks of things. Popped in here during a rain storm and wanted to get a warm drink. I got their version of a mocha which was good but too sweet for my liking. The customer service was great with friendly service. They had just baked some strawberry white chocolate cookies that I purchased as well. Super delicious. This place was quite large inside as well with a small patio but plenty of space inside. The friendliest place in town. I go here usually once a week. I haven't eaten anything yet as I go for the coffee, locals' discount and unlimited refills. And, of course, the wonderful staff.
