We were in Santa Fe for a couple of days and found this little gem of a coffee shop. It quickly became the only place we wanted to get our coffee. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and welcoming, with two private outdoor patio areas and ample indoor seating. As a locally owned business, it has a wonderful character you just don't find at chain coffee shops. They also offer a great selection of gluten-free treats, but the coffee is the star of the show. This place was close to where we were staying near the Plaza, and the coffee was pretty yummy. I ordered a Biscochito latte, which was sweet enough (I like a sweet latte personally) and had that famous Biscochito flavor the Santa Fe cookie is known for. The lattes we ordered could've been hotter, though. The shop served breakfast burritos and many others were ordering these to enjoy there or to-go. There is a nice, spacious patio outside on the side of the shop as well as a patio outside in back, so plenty of seating in addition to places to sit inside the cafe. My father-in-law also went here a few times while we were in town, and he said there was only one barista working each time; this was the case when we were there as well. They could definitely use another barista or two to handle the busy morning crowd. The interior of the cafe had a big roasting machine and some art and merch to look at while we waited. They also have a small pop-up location inside the Santa Fe airport, and though I did not order coffee there, I grabbed one of the green chile and cheese croissants they are known for, and it was delicious. A pretty solid place to get a good coffee drink and a pastry or breakfast burrito, but I would suggest asking for your latte to be made extra hot if you like to sip on it awhile or just expect it to be served hot, not warm. read more

The Wolf and Mermaid Enchanted Café is a hidden gem tucked right behind our hotel--easy to miss, but absolutely worth finding. It's a high-quality, spacious café that goes beyond coffee--they also serve alcohol and other drinks, giving it a relaxed all-day hangout vibe. We went for breakfast and it was busy, but worth the wait. The coffee was fresh, and the croissants and breakfast dishes were excellent. Unlike many coffee shops in Santa Fe, this place has cushioned benches, though it is a bit odd how tall the benches are. I love this place. Such a cute design with plenty of seating outdoors and indoors. The lighting was everything and there were beautiful artwork throughout the bathroom area which I thought was awesome. The bathroom was clean and smelled good and the seating area was clean too. Lots of options to choose from as it relates to drinks. I got a hot matcha latte and it was the best matcha ever. Super green, super fresh, super yummy. I did add some sugar to my drink as it had no sweetness to it but it was great otherwise. The barista was awesome and made my drink fast. This is a nice cafe. I just took their one-hour Coffee Cupping and Roasting class held every Saturday at 2pm. Highlights included staff roasting coffee on the spot and my "cupping" their coffees from Costa Rica, Mexico and Brazil. The class fee included a pastry, cup of coffee and a bag of their coffee. As we waited in line, I heard the clerk tell the person being waited on that he could not get a large beverage because they only had enough for a medium. First red flag. I asked for a large coffee and was told I would have to wait a while because they didn't have any made. When I got it, there was no cream in the dispenser and I had to ask for it to be refilled. Second red flag. We ordered 2 "Sammie's". The one on the croissant was fine, but very greasy from the melted cheese. The one on rye was pretty good. We went to the patio in the entryway to eat. The chairs were scattered about, napkins and empty sugar packets littered the floor. Third red flag. As much as I like independent businesses, I'd go to Starbucks over this place next time. We had a lovely day in Sante Fe, and ended up here before heading out. We are in-between three and four stars. The service was pretty good, and the menu selection is substantial. However, the value for quality of food is not equal. We had the raspberry truffle latte, and the hibiscus lemonade. The flavor was there, but subtle. The vibe from the drink wasn't there. However, super huge fan about the paper straws and cups. We had the breakfast sandwich, egg, and green chili aoli. It was pretty small, and the depth in flavor was not fully there. Glad they're dog friendly. Croissant and mocha were great. But the barista insisted that because his parents are musicians, he gets to blast his music and sing at full volume to EVERY SINGLE SONG. I've been on Yelp a decade plus maybe--plenty of mediocre-to-bad restaurants since--and this is my first review. If I had to describe the experience in one word, I couldn't. I'm too bewildered. There was one person behind the counter. With his back permanently turned to customers completely oblivious of their presence. The music--not a universally appreciated genre but some obscure emo comeback playlist---was blaring. The barista/clerk was singing at the top of his lungs like he was the main character in his own one-man-show. To give an order, or inquire about an order, you had to yell over the guy's Punk Idol audition to get his attention. Since his back was a permanent fixture of the experience, it was impossible to miss the F-bomb on the back of his hoodie. (Something along the lines of Clean the planet, F***ers.) We believe in climate action too, and we're hardly pearl clutchers, but come on. Early mornings are dominated by typical early risers: blue hairs and people with kids. Show a little discretion. The people immediately ahead of us were visibly annoyed and ended up changing their order to takeaway. We counted multiple customers who left without even placing an order. Maybe they didn't like the show. Or maybe they noticed the guy cleaning out the milk pitcher using his BARES HANDS (no soap) in place of a sponge between lattes. Even with the frozen pastries and breakfast burrito that tasted like diaper, this place could have been a great morning vibe. Instead it was nothing but attitude. read more

I visited Santa Fe and ate here three times, it was so good. I got the vegan breakfast burrito each time and it was so good and so filling that I wasn't hungry again until much later in the day. They have a great drink menu and I got one of their lattes, very sweet but it hit the spot. They also have iced tea and baked goods. My husband and I tried the muffins and they were great. We live in Los Alamos and go to that location multiple times a week, so when we were walking around downtown Santa Fe and saw the location on Johnson Street, we were thrilled and had to stop by.
