Cal-Nevada Towing is the bomb. Had to bail a car out of jail literally, and had been worrying about the mechanics of it all for several months. Called Cal Nevada Towing the day before and a nice dispatcher on the other end told me to call first thing in the morning and get it scheduled. I was able to coordinate the tow for 8:30 AM this morning and the driver was early. He was exceptionally nice and that was a big plus since my most not so favorite place is having to clean up wreckage of the past at Sparks PD. (Especially when it's the mistakes made from others - I think they have groups for that lol) The car is nicely tucked away in the garage now. Cost was less than the quoted price which made the deal even sweeter. Today's experience turned around an experience with a bad past, but gave me hope that the future will definitely be brighter. read more

After calling several other tow companies and being quoted 1.5 hours to 4 hours in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. I was in South Meadows so it wasn't like I was trying to get a tow from the top of Mt. Rose in the middle of a snow storm. I call them because my car was disabled on the side of the road they had a somewhat speedy response time of about an hour. The thing that made me irritated was that after the tow truck driver and I determined that the car was drivable and he did the repairs they still charged me $378. Now I'm not saying I should have got it for free but I didn't even use the towing service. I was expecting somewhere around $100 to pay for the guy plus gas. Disappointing . read more

Cal Nevada towing works very slowly on police department jobs and makes it impossible to pay for any bills outside of their yard so you have a better chance of not making it there in "time" and having your bill sent to collections, liens being placed on vehicles, and theft of possessions. The people who answer the phone won't even send a bill until you lean on them enough then they backtrack on what they do. Their lien manager works very limited hours. I have a good amount of recovery, crane, and rotator experience and know that the job the performed for me was over sold and over charged. A slimy, predatory, scam company that co-thrives with the highway patrol on road piracy. read more

I called to arrange for moving my 1944 Sterling ex-Navy truck from my house to a new home around the corner. I gave weight, length, height, non-op status to the dispatcher. I didn't make it past the dispatcher, who threw up one reason after another to not do the job. Won't move if the vehicle has been sitting longer than 6-months. Can't use a wrecker - need to use a roll-back. I asked for recommendations, and was given the names of two tow companies that as it turned out had no equipment at all of the size needed. Fortunately one of them made a phone call to Cal Nevada's closest competitor, and they moved my truck no problem. With a wrecker. With a can-do attitude. Go figure. read more

The guys here have been more than gracious and kind. We were moving from Oregon to Tennessee for a job offer when our trailer hauling our stuff got a flat and the studs broke off the rim. The tow price was extremely fair. They tried every way to help us fix it but in the end, it wasn't possible. We did manage to leave with our belongings (thank goodness for driving a cargo van.) As a former tow operator myself, or as I like to call it: a "tow operator in recovery" I realize the importance to give a great review when it's earned. Keith is a true professional and knew what he was doing. He had my rig hooked up within minutes and and safety parked before we knew it. The #54 truck was very clean and I knew I was in capable hands. He also gave me a ride to the motel. This place has unfair business practices and I must make an example out of them by filing a formal complaint. I do NOT enjoy complaining/complainers but it needs to be done for those who can't or won't for whatever reason. My son who is a college student, who pays out of pocket for his education and everything else college related, got into a car accident at approximately 3pm on a weekday. There was a misunderstanding with our insurance as to whether his car was added to the policy (he just purchased it) but we cleared it up later and will be reimbursed this ridiculous towing fee charged to us. Anyway, the totaled car was towed by this place after the accident and arrived on their lot at 4:20pm (we were about 10 mins behind the tow truck to get football cleats out). We arrive to the counter at approx 4:30pm and asked if we could remove the cleats and what it cost to get the car out. It wasnt even off the truck yet. We were told $228 plus $40 a day. Cool. It wasn't a problem until I said we would be back in the morning because they close in 30 mins at 5pm. I didn't have that much cash on me and could NOT make it to a bank and back in that length of time (again 30 mins). The lady tells me it would be an additional $40 if we came back tomorrow. What? So it's $228 plus $40 a day but a day is not 24 hours? Will somebody explain to this business what a "day" means? The car just got off the truck and already we are being charged for two days. The car was there a TOTAL of not even 24 hours but my son was charged $228 plus $40 for one day plus another $40 for a second day. My son and I agreed we should have just pushed the car out of the street where the accident occurred so if you're reading this, push your car if you can. We could have called our OWN towing service had we known these people were dishonest. This is why your economy is terrible in this state and the MAJORITY are living in poverty here because you're ignorant, greedy, and gouging your future educated students. It's unacceptable. At the very least, change your wording on your paperwork please to reflect the correct fee. Charge a FAIR and honest price because in the end, YOU WILL FAIL. After we paid for the car to get out, we barely got it to the street to be towed by my personal towing company to a junkyard. Before we struggled it off the lot, they made sure to insult us by insinuating that if we left the car on any street, they would tow it again. Who pays $308 cash to abandon a wrecked up car on a street? Reno, Nevadans (not all)? Its not as if all the cars in this area are new and whole. My sons wrecked up car would fit right on in down here in this HOOD. Come on now. We had the car towed immediately but wanted to make sure it was off their money hungry lot. I wish somebody would hand out a FREE BOOK on prosperity principles in this city. For some reason some businesses have disconnected themselves from the FACT that what they do to others in their own communities will be done to them.
