After they Ransacked through the car looking for contraband they had D & S Tow it to their place. The tow was 390 dollars the fuel surcharge was 129 dollars. And 53 dollars for storing my vehicle for one day . What a fuel surcharge is, is a mystery to me. Because my gas gauge was still at the same level . So grand total, to get my car back was 572 dollars. Please Don't DRINK and then DRIVE . The Service was great, so if I needed to have my car towed , I would call them . read more

Besides the damage to my car, and the fact that nobody ever said which yard my car was going to, and how they historically fleece their own community, or outright steal their cars. It was the ineptitude of the ladies on the phone that really inspired me to write this review. Contradicting answers, incorrect information and just unprofessional, my car wasn't towed due to impound, abandoned or otherwise. It was towed because I was in an accident, and they assumed my insurance was going to get involved and each time they sounded confused when I said otherwise. D & S Tow, you blow!! No one ever wants to call a tow truck, but when you do you want one that comes quickly, does the job, and is pleasant to deal with. On a recent trip through the Carson Valley, our tire completely shredded. We were lucky to get Jerod from D &S tow to come out and rescue us. He was quick, efficient, and extremely pleasant. They were so incredibly quick...and the service man Evan was ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! My car had a weird issue and he was patient and despite the extreme difficulty, was able to get it into neutral bc it wouldn't damage the vehicle as opposed to dragging it onto truck. I had permanently lost my car key and most of the other tow companies contacted by AAA were reluctant to do the job. Gary showed up sooner than I had expected and he was able to come through for me with a tow. He was friendly and I enjoyed our conversations on the long +100 mile ride to the dealership. I decided to give the driver an extra tip because he was able to drop me off in Truckee, CA after we dropped my car off at the dealership. My experience with D&S Tow was excellent! They were patient during a very tricky situation and I sincerely appreciated their professionalism and kindness, as well as their timely arrival. There were quite a few challenges that Jeremiah had to overcome and I was very impressed with how he didn't just say, "I can't", but instead persevered through each issue. I'd also like to give credit to Dispatch as well, even though I never actually spoke with them. To make a long story short, I had two mechanics garages that were apparently playing the "you touched it last" game with my car bouncing it back and forth without my knowledge and all the while intentionally causing the price to go up and up. Despite me arranging with one garage the day before to have it picked up there first thing the next morning (and hence setting up with AAA for the tow), I showed up at the appointed time only to be informed my car was not at that location - unbeknownst to me. The D&S Tow driver (I believe his name was Dave) was very patient and said I'll need to call AAA to put in a new request for a tow (and that he wished he could help more). I did so and headed to the location of the other garage. Dispatch had another tow truck meet me there about a minute after I arrived... that is FAST! My wife and I called AAA for a tow from Carson City to Sun Valley and we were told it would be a 2 hour eta . 2 hours went by and I called the company who was to tow my wife's truck and it was d &s tow in Carson city . When I called d & s to get an eta on the tow trucks arrival I was told by the receptionist that she had no idea what I was talking about , then transferred me to the owner of the company . I was then told that she had cancelled the call for a tow herself for personal reasons , saying that she could do that . I was told they had the right to refuse service to anyone they wanted to , including my wife and I . I do not recommend this company at all . Broken down in Carson City due to manufacture recall, 120 miles from home. Called AAA for a tow to nearest mechanic for repairs as manufacture states two months out for repairs but manufacturer said find an alternative mechanic and they would reimburse. AAA contacted D & S Tow, Inc. 6 hours later D & S Tow, Inc showed up. Marcus the driver said he couldn't get vehicle out of park therefore had to drag vehicle onto tow truck. I asked if it would damage my vehicle. He said probably but to have it repaired under the recall notice. I said the recall was for simple shifter linkage not transmission damage. He was adamant that he had one other option and that option was to locate another tow outfit with wheel dollys that it woulr be another several hours wait. Marcus copped a bad attitude giving us no alternatives but his stubborn know it all attitude and left us stranded. We were stranded there for 21 hours when we thought, maybe if we call home for a tow by reliable and knowledgable mechanic/driver. Called Woodys Automotive where they told us that normally they couldn't sent their driver 120 miles as it would leave the area with out a tow truck service, BUT they had picked up a vehicle and had to deliver it to Carson City as we spoke! Their driver Travis showed up, manually disengaged vehicle from park into neutral and towed our car to the shop requested and vehicle repaired in less time it took to get a tow in Carson City. D & S Tow, Inc is a disgrace to the towing services! Wouldn't use their service ever again and will request not using them with AAA. read more

Despite mixed prior reviews, I have had a wonderful experience today! My SUV slid downhill in icy conditions at the Donner Summit, damaging it so not safe to drive. I called AAA. They set me up with D&S in Truckee. Anthony was there within an hour, put it on a flatbed. Towed it to their storage in Truckee overnight. Casey towed it down here to Sacramento with no problems. I would absolutely recommend this company for help in the rugged Sierra conditions. They certainly do their best to accommodate their calls. Conditions can be tough sometimes up there. Really should be "0" stars. They left me stranded on Donner Summit, with no way home. they would only tow my car to Reno, despite having AAA 100 mile tow Insurance. Said they would tow it tomorrow (with snow forecast) 80 miles out of the way for a total of 150 miles tow. Terribly disappointed with D&S and AAA, probably going to cancel AAA towing for letting them get away with service like that. Better off getting my own tow and letting car insurance reimburse me, at least they got me home before the storm. read more

My car was impounded and I picked it up the following day. My wifes wedding ring, a 1c diamond embedded into a gold necklace. And misc jewelry which belonged to my recently deceased mother had been stolen out of the back of vehicle. D and S Towing are the only ones who had access to the vehicle. When I spoke with the manager or owner, he basically said sucks to be you more or less. I asked if would at least review surveillance to which he replied not everything is covered. They sent out Jim S. to pick us up and drop our Van at Boomtown until we could figure out want to do. He was so pleasant and took an edge off an very unpleasant situation. I never use the towing company because I've never been in a real bad accident where I had to use them. Unfortunately I got the opportunity to find out what kind of a company they are. Was in an accident and so far my car has been there for a month they did let a friend go in and retrieve my belongings in my car. Didn't find my pink crystal heart and a brand new pair of sunglasses that were in the glove compartment. Worst tow company ever! First of all, I was put on hold every time I would call and ask about my vehicle. I would be put on hold for anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Then, when I went to the yard, the front office lady is very rude and wouldn't talk to me so I had to bring my step-father along to even pay the tow bill for my jeep. When I get to the car, I notice everything is not where it was precisely. My car was raided and over $600 worth of stuff was stolen from my car. Then I PAID them to tow it to pick and pull come to find out a day later, that someone stole my car from their lot. D & S tow is THE WORST TOW COMPANY EVER! Ryan was friendly, cordial, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Hard to find this combination in one individual but that was my experience with Ryan. A hybrid vehicle was dead, no sign of life at all, and no way to move it manually. When I described the situation, the dealership, said to have it towed in. Ryan was confident it would not need to be towed, brought a jump starter, lifted the hood, knew exactly where to make the connections, and the car came back to life! Well whatever mood you are in, you'll be in a better one if you call D&S tow. My car wouldn't start on Saturday night after dinner, and on a friend's recommendation I called D&S Tow. First: they must have like 300 trucks all over the place just waiting to come rescue people. Seriously: they arrived 5 minutes after I called. Second: The truck was new & clean. Despite the crappy circumstances of being in an accident and totaling your car, I am so happy with the D&S service I received. When I called, Kimberley helped me to great lengths. She was upfront, professional, and also personal with the charges and situation. She explained everything to me, and gave me different scenarios if I chose to keep my car in the lot. It was almost the weekend, so she communicated with her drivers very well to make sure there was no errors when I met the driver after hours. The driver, Anthony, was great. Also professional, informative, and personable. From the moment he pulled up to meet us at the tow yard to the minute he left us and my poor car at pick and pull. He really made this whole unfortunate experience bearable. Pleasant, even! D & S Battery Service Technician, Roy Carpenter helped us out after an unexpected flat tire while enroute from Crowley Lake, CA to pick up an RV part in Reno. After calling AAA Roadside Emergency Service, Roy arrived approx. 15 minutes later, very professional, smiling and eager to change the flat with the spare and got us back on the road within 10 minutes. Roy was in clean reflective attire, very polite and courteous who represented D & S with excellent customer care and skilled roadside emergency service.
