Cal-Pac is amazing, the quality of work is outstanding and their expertise is unmatched. We've worked with them for a while; they were one of the few roofing companies we reached out to that were willing to do repairs (on a roof they didn't build). They replaced an old skylight, removed our old chimney, and added a gutter to the back. We were really happy with the quality of the work and the price. When it came time to do a full roof replacement, they were the first place we called. And to be honest, they weren't the cheapest but we still went with them given our prior experience and the fact they would handle re-mounting our solar system directly. We worked mostly with Brian and Earl, both great guys and incredibly experienced. We had a lot of dry rot issues on our joists and their carpenter did a fantastic job (photos attached). The roof came out better than expected, it looks so clean and makes the entire house look better. We were also impressed with their thorough cleanup of the site each day, the attention to detail (even caulking around the replaced joists for us), and going the extra mile to replace a ceiling panel that was damaged when the old roof was torn off. They do most things by phone and don't use any fancy appointment systems, but if you want a roof done the right way by the most experienced people, Cal-Pac is the one you want. Besides wanting to make sure I would be spending my money wisely, making the best decisions for my parents' long-time Eichler in south Palo Alto, I wanted to learn from the experience. John was ever responsive to my questions, keeping me in the loop each step of the way, from zeroing in on our start date and schedule, throughout his team's hands-on installation of a new roof, new downspouts, and a new skylight, and later patiently dealing with a mix-up with my last payment (100% my fault). John also stopped by regularly, to stay on top of the job and coordinate with our general contractor, for our interior renovation, and the electrician. (Eichler owners can appreciate how essential it is that coordination be seamless as all of the wiring - in our case, for an electrical panel upgrade and new EV charger - is on the roof.) While we had less contact, as they were working on the roof, I also had great respect for Eduardo ("Eddie") and his installation team. They were the first to show up each morning out of everyone working on our home renovation and were sensitive to our neighbors, minimizing noise and cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. The day after the job was done a downpour revealed a bit of "pooling" over the garage, where the roof had sunk over the decades. First thing the next morning Cal-Pac came back out and raised that portion of the roof so no water would collect again. The roof would have worked just fine without that tweak. Cal-Pac did a beautiful job repairing the roof on our Church buildings. We discovered several leaks throughout the facilities. It was during the heaviest period of our most recent rainy season. Cal-Pac managed to get us on their busy schedule. They had to assess the condition of the the roof and give us a bid. Theirs was the most reasonable for our budget and they did not disappoint. Highly recommended! After seeing that we had a leak in our ceiling/roof in the middle of the past major rain storms, they were able to come out and check our roof the same day we called! After immediately seeing the problem, they provided a quote by the next day. Since the repair could not be performed until the rain storms passed, they were able to put a tarp over the problem area to stop the leaking in the interim. They then scheduled the actual repair right after the raining stopped, and they did a great job, and no more leaking! read more

I would not use them for a replacement roof, gutters, or downspouts. I will not let them on my property. They forgot who the customer is. NOW, WAS. The service received. NONE!!! Just false promises.. They put the downspout trust into one man...Earl. He was too aloof for me. I have been in contact with this company since at least 23 January, 2018. Today it is 6 April, 2018. My downspouts are still not done. We figured out a price, but waiting for them to put the estimate into a written estimate was an act of congress. I received one estimate, but without details. I replied in an email what we spoke about. Three weeks later, details placed onto the email estimate. We finally had a meeting of the minds... And four months later, I am still waiting for my downspouts replaced. We had a tentative date of mid March. No contact about a follow up date. I have had more patience than I should have. NO more. I am tired of waiting. Their non responsiveness to issues with health of my home speaks volumes. I am thankful it has been dry, but this is now past my patience. When I need a new roof, CAL Pac will not be called. They did a roof for me before, on my current property. They are no longer welcome here. I would have thought they would have done the work earlier since both are located in San Mateo local, and my standing as a prior customer. Wow, to turn away work. Such independence. May their business thrive. If I have anything to do with it.... RUN!! I will not permit someone who does not think my house is worthy of their time. I'll start my review by stating that we didn't have any actual work done by this company - so this review is not based on workmanship. How could we have had any work done? The customer service we received was terrible. Things started off ok with a timely response to an inquiry for a quote to replace our roof. A few days later, we had Brian come out. We chatted for a short time, discussed options. Surprisingly he didn't come prepared to actually get ON the roof or inspect it. Ok, he promised to show up the following Monday with several people to inspect the roof. Ok. I stayed home - waited for a call, and email, or even anyone to show up. Nope! We've had our share of the usual horror stories with workmen in the construction field, so we put off contacting a roofer for a year. Finally, with the rainy season looming, and the flashing on our 20+ year old roof in visibly bad shape, even from the ground, I went on Yelp to begin what I thought would be a long, excruciating process. I figured, with all the great reviews, Cal Pac would be a good place to start. Turns out that we felt so good about Tony and the way he answered all our questions, that we signed the contract the day he came over to the Coast to evaluate our roof. He was able to give us a start date for the project that fit our schedule. Tony remained accessible to our calls throughout the project. The office staff was helpful as well when we had questions. The guys who came to do the actual work were polite, on time, neat looking, diligent, and worked in a timely, but unhurried manner. Brian, the on-site boss, oversaw the details. Earl came by to take photos and check on how the work was going. There was a scrupulous clean up every day. Our two story house had a beautiful new roof in three days. So my roof had a leak. Eh no biggie! Come on, it's the Bay Area! But when my closet started getting flooded, and my faux fur coat had been damaged by the water, it was time to do something. My best friend Bertie actually lives right on the other side of El Camino from this place, and I've always seen it in all my years of growing up on the hell known as the peninsula. So I decided to dig deeper. Looked them up; Better Business Bureau. Good sign, but we were still going to get three estimates from three different companies, as recommended. We scheduled three estimates. Of the three, Cal-Pac was the only one that ACTUALLY GOT ON THE ROOF. Wow! What a concept? Actually get up on he roof and inspect it before giving us an estimate of the cost? What kind of strange business tactic is that? And Brian, our estimator, ACTUALLY DISCUSSED THE DETAILS OF THE PROBLEM. Again, another bizarre occurrence! Cal-Pac's estimate was a little bit more than the other two guys, but because of them ACTUALLY EXPLAINING it in a professional manner, we felt that we could ACTUALLY TRUST that what was wrong wasn't just bullshit like the other two hokey guys, and that it would ACTUALLY GET DONE CORRECTLY. Brian explained in depth our different options, and roofs are kind of an important investment, so you really ACTUALLY APPRECIATE when someone doesn't just blow over all the details. Needless to say, we went with Cal-Pac. The installation guys were all really courteous and the whole thing was ACTUALLY PAINLESS. So, most people don't need a whole new roof everyday, but it is definitely good to keep in mind when you need it. We needed a roof. Seriously. I had the neighborhood's only garaged car that got wet in a storm... Finally bit the bullet and decided to re-roof. We asked for three bids from well-known, reputable Peninsula companies, including one with which I'd previously worked. Initially, I leaned toward them. After the roof inspections were complete and bids submitted to us, Cal-Pac was the frontrunner by virtue of the meeting with Tony. He seemed to do most meticulous roof inspection and to have the best handle on likely challenges. Included in the mess over our heads was an incorrectly installed skylight and likely dry rot. There was no way to know what would be salvageable until into the job and he offered various plans for addressing potential issues. Cal-Pac's bid was in the middle of the three, with much less written material than the other two. In other words, if pages of documentation have value, Cal-Pac/Tony's bid didn't seem as thorough as the others, though his presentation did. We asked him to return (as he had offered to do during his inspection visit). We set the bids on the kitchen table and had him address the differences, our expectations, and our questions. We found out that most of what was included in the other bids was building code anyway. Kinda like printing on a car sticker. "Engine, transmission, steering wheel included." That was helpful information. And we chose Cal-Pac. The truth is I'm picky, impatient, and chaos intolerant. I spin up easily and I've made catastrophizing an art form. We figured there'd be dry rot in the decking and/or eaves and it would take additional dollars to fix. There were unknowable issues until the tear off. My imagination worked overtime about how expensive the ordeal would really be and how much yard damage might occur in the process. I'm a nervous Nellie about my garden. The total package, I know. Be glad my husband married me and got me off the streets. Safe to say I wasn't looking forward to the experience. Between the bucks, the mess and the racket, I dreaded the whole deal. I like Cal-Pac but there's no way to glamorize the noise as men were deployed on the roof, concrete tiles yanked, then sent crashing into the truck bed. Next came the truckload of new shingles sent up by conveyor and dropped into stacks across the roof ridge. Yeah, no way to pretty up that. But after that, it was painless. The crew was polite and fast. They did their best to be low impact. There was tool and compressor noise but no shouting over it to each other. I'm in a home office where I actually continued to work after the initial assault. There was dry rot hiding under the old tile roof but Tony worked with us to keep costs reasonable and cut a break where he could. The debris pile (otherwise known as the 'crap stack') grew over the course of the week but they policed the yard at the end of each day and kept it limited to a certain area, then hauled it away when finished. Even asked for a broom to sweep up. They met their estimated timetable, got to our job a week ahead of schedule, and gave us a heads up before moving our date to be sure it worked for us. The best part of the experience was that Cal-Pac didn't sell the job and disappear. Tony was here nearly every day checking that everything was going well. By that I mean he was on the roof taking photos which he emailed to us so we could see what the roofers saw. He did that a couple of times during the project. He shepherded things from start to finish and it seems weird to say since he's the company rep, but I felt as though he was our advocate. No problem recommending these guys. We spent a little extra and I think we have a really quality job. Whether we live here for decades or sell next year, I'll feel good with this roof over our heads or turning it over (with its transferable 30 year materials & labor warranty) to the next owner. The crazy, hard-to-please lady is happy. Oh - and the roof looks really great, including a new skylight tinted to match the roof tiles. Just beautiful. Trust me. Mrs. Picky says so. read more

We've been dreading dealing with our roof situation as we had 2 layers of roofing and knew that there was some damaged wood on the eaves and rafters. We called 4 roofing companies, all based on BBB and Yelp reviews and chose Cal-Pac Roofing after sitting down with Tony, the estimator, and having all of the optioins explained to us. Along with showing us pictures of the problem areas and his recommendations for solving them, he went over all of the roofing choices available to us, as well as realistic life spans and warranty options. We chose a GAF composition shingle since we were very impressed with the 25 year workmanship warranty that Cal-Pac is authorized to provide since they're a Master Elite GAF Contractor. One of the other roofing companies we called also offered this warranty but didn't really explain what was involved in the construction process to get the warranty or how they were going to handle the damaged areas so we just felt more comfortable with Cal-Pac. They did the work just as described, Tony sent us pictures each day of the progress and the roof looks great. The estimate was quickly scheduled (unlike other companies that made me wait for over a week or two) and Brian was friendly and informative. He went up on the roof to take a look and wrote up a prelim estimate for the job. A lot of other estimators didn't even bother going up on the roof to inspect it. Cal Pac was one of the more competitively priced bids and they were GAF Master certified with the lifetime warranty, so I went with them. The job started ahead of the scheduled time frame they first gave me, so that was a good surprise. The job started on a Tuesday and ended four days later. As far as I could see, the work was done quickly and efficiently using the correct materials. Two issues made me take off a star: 1. The job site wasn't cleaned up as well as I would have liked, especially after the first day of during the roof tear off. I found lots of old shingle pieces and pieces of wood shards around the back and front of the house. I also found quite a few nails as well (three nails on the driveway which would have been bad for my wife's car when she came home). I think they probably just cleaned the house 2-3 feet around the house and didn't really inspect the rest of the lot. 2. After the job was finished on that Friday, I didn't hear from them the entire next week. The final inspection wasn't complete and they still had their sign out front on my yard. After the week of not hearing from them, I called to see what was up and they quickly scheduled the final inspection a few days later. They basically got free advertising from my house and I wonder if that would have been the case indefinitely unless I called them. Despite the down marks, I would still use them for a roofing job as I believe their work was solid and their price was much better than most of the competition. read more

We thought we could put off a new roof for another year, but then we saw the cracks in the ceiling of our kids' room. Drats. Thanks to Cal Pac, the only painful part of the process was writing the check... and even that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (their estimate was very competitive!). Every person I encountered at Cal Pac was professional, knowledgeable and courteous... a true pleasure. As mentioned by other Yelpers, Tony is awesome. Very clearly and respectfully explained our options. The crew was, too. They were extremely hard working, kept me up-to-date with progress, and clearly explained what they were doing. The roof was done, as promised, within the week. It looks great! The only hiccup was that they had missed a couple of gutters when calculating the estimate. I hate surprises when the project is underway, you just can't help but wonder if it was intentional. But the change added only another $500 to the total bill. All in all an 5-star experience! They came out and it turns out it wasn't their problem at all but rather our HVAC team. This time we use the Duralast product for the flat roof. Cal Pac did our roof in San Francisco this spring and I can't say enough good things about them. Tony was incredibly responsive via phone and email and during his visit for the estimate. Earl and his installation team were great. The guys showed up when they said they would, cleaned up the messes (roofing is messy work!), and did a beautiful job. Our building looks fantastic. The only bummer is that you can't see the flat part of the roof. The shingles are gorgeous, but the flat part is a cool roof made of Durolast (no more tar and gravel), which is an amazing substance that is used the line the bottom of swimming pools (can we say water tight?). Our building has a light well, as many San Francisco buildings do. When it turned out that the roof at the bottom of the light well could not properly be sealed with Durolast, Cal Pac came up with a great solution. At no extra cost to us, they covered the light well with a new skylight. Air still circulates in there, but water cannot get in. I was very impressed with how they handled this issue because it could have been a deal breaker. All in all, 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for Cal Pac Roofing!! Thanks guys! read more

The story started like that. I wanted to save some money and tried Home Depot to do my garage roof. It was very poorly done and took many efforts and home depot coming back, mistakes after mistakes, to get the job done, on the simplest roof possible. So I went and look for a serious company to do the complex work on the main house and Cal-Pac came hands on, most highly recommended by everyone I talked with, and the GAF company who is also recommending them and there are reasons for that: They are indeed the TOP of the top! The Cal-Pac team was outstanding: Fast, accommodating to work with other contractors, super professional. There was a mistake done on the way, Cal-Pac fixed it the same day. The work looks outstanding! Cal-Pac belongs to these companies that you wish to recommend so much because there are not many like these anymore. Cal PAC Roofing is an excellent contractor. I cannot say anything negative about them. From the estimator to the workers they are all polite, let you know if anything unusually comes up, always on time and they do a great clean up job at the end of the day. I got 5 bids to replace the roof on my home. Cal PAC was not the lowest and not the highest. I selected Cal PAC because I felt the communication between us was good. I asked questions and they gave me an answer. If the person I was talking to could not answer, they would check on it an get back to me. Here's a good example. First day on the job, they start to tear the old roof off. They found one side had 2 layers and the other had 3 layers. The 2 layers was plywood and tiles, but the 3 layers was shingles and 2 layers of tiles. They took pictures so I could see what they were talking about. I couldn't explain how that happened. Now their bid was for the 2 layers, so there was going to be some additional cost. I told them to continue working and let me know ASAP what the additional cost would be. To my surprise the addition cost was much lower then I expected. Choosing the right roofing contractor is always time consuming, given the numerous ads and reviews on line. But I am lucky for two of my neighbors in Foster City hired Cal-Pac to do their new roofs. This saved me all the troubles to shop around as I could easily get their cost and feedback from my neighbors and was able to witness their superb performance on site. I then called Tony for an updated quote and he gave me a detailed assessment of our roofing condition and recommended the appropriate GAF composition shingle with the 25 year workmanship warranty which suit our need. When the job started, I was happy to note the same crew who did my neighbors' roofing projects showed up. After a new roof was installed on my house, I was happier to see this team did not let me down and met my expectations like my neighbors. Members like Brian, Robert etc are real roofing professional veterans. They were punctual, industrious, attentive and always emphasized on quality. Earl the installation manager was very responsible and kept me informed daily of the progress and I am grateful that he drew my attention to rotted plywood under roof which saved my future replacement need. We have only great things to say about Cal-Pac. The entire process from estimate to job completion was extremely smooth and our roof looks great. In addition to the great work, there were a few things that really stood out about Cal-Pac for us: (1) their timely communication, and (2) they really care about the quality of their work. Throughout the entire process, Tony (our sales person) and Earl (our project manager) kept us informed about what was going on. Anytime we had questions we received answers extremely quickly. Prior to installing the new roof, we also had an area that was leaking during the rainy season. Tony came out and patched the area for us to avoid any damage to our home while we were waiting for the weather to clear and have the roof installed. Earl and team then did our install. They showed up timely every day during the install and made sure the area was clean when they left each evening. We were also planning on replacing pool solar on our roof once the new roof was installed and were extremely concerned about roof penetration from the solar (our prior solar install caused a lot of issues with our roof). To avoid any future issues, Earl coordinated with our solar company to ensure that the solar was put on the roof with no penetrations. He even came out and reinspected the roof after the solar was on to make sure it met his requirements. In short, Tony, Earl and Cal-Pac are A+. read more

The owner of Cal-Pac continues his shady business practices. In his comment to my review, he once again not only twists the facts, but in some cases, outright lies. Nowhere in the complaint process to the Better Business Bureau did they address the "merit" of the case; in fact, the case was closed "administratively," which is the BBB's term for noting that the two parties could not come to agreement on the complaint. More importantly, I still wonder why, when I hired Cal-Pac to fix a *very specific leak* and they sold me a new roof to fix it -- why is my roof still leaking in the same exact spot??? Why, if the issue was indeed with a faulty chimney, did Cal-Pac suggest that a new roof would fix the leak I called them about??? Yelpers definitely seem to have had a more positive experience with Cal-Pac than Angie's List members, where Cal-Pac receives an average grade of C, including one "F" (to which I will be adding my "F") grade. They are clearly a type of company with no integrity. I never received that email and it's funny, but all they did was comment on the yelp review 5 years ago... nothing about my review and the rude behavior recently. Their "great" reputation is only what they market. There are many folks in my neighborhood that went to their office and left with a negative view of their cocky attitudes. They do a great job at "hiding" all the negative about their company. It's funny, but I didn't recognize any of the names in other reviews during my experience with Cal Pac... it must be "who you get"... I called Cal Pac 5 yrs ago for help with rats I continually got in my Decra roof. I was asked twice to "call back" because the person I needed to talk to wasn't there. They refused to take my number and call me back. I had a very negative experience with their lack of customer service and willingness to follow up on any warranty or "just make it right".. (note: the positive reviews on Yelp reflect initial installation... not follow up customer service). - When I wrote a negative review on Yelp back then, the manager, John Rossi, personally emailed me and pled that I remove it. He said it was not what they "normally" do. He told me to contact him directly for any future needs. Based on his plea, I removed the review... now I wonder how many other negative reviews he has influenced people to remove??? I was so frustrated with Cal-Pac that I didn't want to deal with them any more... I tried for the next few years fixing holes in my roof to stop the rats from coming in. I recently contacted a wonderful contractor who is helping me. He showed me how the initial installation by Cal-Pac left many gaps where rats could easily get in and suggested I contact them again. I called John Rossi again. He was INCREDIBLY rude and talked down to me like I was a 5 year old. It was VERY clear to me he was just being nice years ago because he wanted me to remove my negative Yelp review. He refused to tell me a time someone could come out and take a look. He said they were "busy" for weeks and he would "call me back" (at sometime). When I asked him for a simple timeframe that I could expect a call back... he angrily stated, "LISTEN TO ME... I TOLD YOU I'D CALL YOU BACK... THAT'S ALL YOU'RE GONNA GET". When Cal-Pac finally came out... they looked at the gaps where rats had been getting in. They said they put the roof on according to the minimum specs. It was not their fault that the minimum Decra roofing specifications left gaps. The minimum Decra specs allow for gaps. They said if we wanted them to redo anything, it would cost $40 for every tile they touched which would amount to thousands of dollars. They also said there was not much they could do because of the way they simply put the Decra tiles over the existing roof. Sooooooo... my contractor said nothing is impossible and I paid him to patch the holes... took him a week and he had to pull up every corner, edges and ridgeline tiles... a LOT of work!!! There are so many roofing companies out there... ones that guarantee their work properly... ones that treat customers with respect... and ones that tell the homeowner when they see potential problems... Cal-Pac just does the minimums they need and gets paid and never wants to hear from you again... IF MINIMUMS ARE WHAT YOU WANT AND YOU WANT NO SERVICE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG... I had a roof installed about 5 years ago. When cleaning the gutters, I noticed some small holes. I called them for warranty service. First, they did not return my call as promised "today or tomorrow". After my 3 calls over 6 days, I finally reached the service person. He says it's $150 just to come out and take a look. What about the warranty? Yeah, it's in effect, but it's still $150. And then at least $150 more to fix it. ???? Our house has needed a new roof for the last 15 years at least. It was perhaps 55 years old and really pushing our family luck! This year's drought was made to order for us to make it through one more season. I extensively researched all of the roofing types we could go with. Asphalt Composition, Tile, Cement, Wood Shake, and found all of those options not really to my liking. Sure Composition shingle is the most common and most promoted, but it's also kind of boring and flat. I was looking for two things: real durability and an aesthetic that made our house look better than it did before. Those two goals are hard to accomplish. I met Tony Fredericks, Cal-Pac's lead guy on scouting your home and giving excellent technical advice about what needs to be done. He knows his stuff for sure, gets on the roof and you can tell right away he's on your side to help you get what you want. He presents great options and we went over just about every conceivable one. I'm a pretty picky guy, doing lots of research and thinking- so that projects that i take on and want to complete leave me feeling good, and not like oh man.. why didn't i think that through more. He helped me to navigate all the important steps and provided me with insights into all the styles available, the pros and cons. In the end, I wanted a sculpted dimensional roof, one that had a nice robust look to it VS your boring flat asphalt. We saw many homes in our neighborhood had roofs installed by Cal-Pac and discovered the material was from a manufacture called Decra. Stone Coated, Metal Tiles- Baked on forever goodness, 50 year warranty, each piece carefully placed on a subframe they build in grid fashion on your roof. They have done so much work in our area that people call them "cal pac roofs' when in reality Cal Pac is the certified installer for Decra. It is a really neat product. It's as you will read from other Yelpers a bit more expensive than your standard roof, but the results are amazing. Modern , dimensional, sculpted.. and will leave you with a roof that will probably outlast you. You can do roof over roof (two roofs) but just do a tear down and get the clean lines and shape of a one roof installation. Tony and the Crew, Earl, the installation manager were great.. Eduardo and his installer team were great, paying great attention to detail and showing up every day on time and working all day long. They picked a great time in the break from our recent storms and had the whole thing done just in time. Man does the house look sharp.. the first storms came in the day after the roof was done.. what a nice feeling to have that new roof. My wife and i had to save a bit extra for the Decra Shake. We went with the Shake Style / Shadowood Color, very sharp. All along the way they the were right there with me and appeasing my requests for somethings to be done a certain way and the way i wanted them to look. They did a great job following along and getting me everything I wanted. Look Up Decra on the internet and give Cal- Pac a call.. they have a showroom as well in San Mateo where you can see the different products.. They have Shake Style, Tile Style (little wavy) and Villa Tile metal roofs. I'm sold on them. If Asphalt composition is your thing.. they are master elite installers of GAF.. the biggest and best Asphalt comp manufacturer. Not many companies get Master Elite Installer status.. so that tells you something right there. read more

Our roof replacement came as quite a surprise. After a weekend of high winds, we found a half dozen of our old roofing shingles had been blown off our roof. We called our homeowners association and Cal Pac Roofing was recommended since they worked with our HOA in determining our community's roofing specifications. We made one call to Tony Fredericks of Cal Pac and he was at our house that same weekend to give us an estimate. He really went above and beyond. He climbed onto our roof to check on things and took the time to patch the areas where old shingles were missing. He also found several wasp hives on our roof which needed to be addressed. He explained the process of a roof replacement and what we should expect every step of the way from the removal of the old roof to the installation of the new one; including replacing 2 existing skylights. He clearly knew what he was talking about and best of all, he never used any pressure tactics. The project included all of the permits and inspections required by Redwood City and Cal Pac handled all of that. By the end of our meeting, we were confident that Cal Pac Roofing was the right company for us. The cost of the project was very reasonable too. We meet the Installation Manager Earl Ledee on the first day and he was equally as informative, courteous and detailed oriented as Tony. We also meet the installers Margarito and Jose. What was most impressive is that not only were they good at installing a roof, they also kept the area around our house free of debris. At the end of each day, Margarito went around to pick up any debris that had fallen into our yard, our neighbor's yard and the general surrounding areas. They were very respectful of our neighbors. There was hardly any evidence that they were there unless you looked up to see that the roof was being replaced. They arrived on time each day and entire job took 5 days. Some of the things we did, and recommend to others to do as well, were to provide our roofers with plenty of ice, water or Gatorade and bananas. We provided them with wasp spray so the wasp hives on the roof can be addressed and pose less of a threat to them while they worked. Also, we rented a portable toilet for them. Roof work is hard and often done on hot days so these things make life easier for them and they appreciate it. In turn, they will do a great job for you. We are very happy with our new roof and we have high praises for Tony, Earl, Margarito and Jose for making the process completely painless. We highly recommend Cal Pac Roofing. read more

Cal Pac Roofing did a great job on my new roof and custom gutters. We has lots of dry rot issues and they resolved that problem and made all of the necessary repairs to the stucco exterior to make it look like there was never an issue. Their pricing is competitive and I would use them again. read more

We called Cal Pac in San Mateo, and 2 other roofing companies, to get bids on reroofing our older home, which has several small additions that make the roof a little bit "challenging" as there is a mix of sloped roofs and flat roofs, and we've had a persistent leak for 3 years where two of the roofs meet each other. Of the 3 contractors we called, only one, Cal Pac, made a point of meeting with us to discuss the options available and to go over those options and what they would recommend. The other two were nice enough on the phone, but said they would drive by and mail us an estimate, which would have been fine, except we knew nothing about roofs. Tony showed up promptly at 4pm, as promised, which was point number one for them, and proceeded to get on the roof, take his measurements, draw a little diagram of the roof, and take lots of pictures. When he came down off the roof we went to the kitchen table and he showed us his drawing and pictures so we'd understand what was going on, and what it would mean when he described his solution to our tricky roof. He also discussed venting options and the 3 rotted boards that would need to be replaced, and the cost to do the work, which was very fair. We did get the 2 other estimates within about 5 days, in the mail, with 2 or 3 roofing choices and corresponding prices, but honestly, had we not seen what was going on up on the roof, and had Tony not shown us samples of the materials that we could use, these estimates would have been nearly impossible to decipher. Needless to say, we called Tony back and gave him the job, and as we expected, Cal Pac did just what he said they'd do, on time, with no surprise charges, they handled the inspections, cleaned up and went on their way. We're very pleased, and think anyone would be smart to give them a call if a new roof is in your future. read more
