This review is a bit overdue, but I wanted to wait till the rainy season is over. Steve was the only one who patiently followed up with the questions from me and my family after the first contact. The actual procedure took slightly longer than expected due to two skylights on our roof. Although a few skylights-related issues were found, they were easily fixed. Overall, I am satisfied with the result. Most importantly, there was no leak after much rain this past winter. I had a somewhat positive experience with CALbest, though it was a bit frustrating along the way. I had a skylight in my house that needed to be replaced. After getting quotes from several companies, CALbest was the best offer. I also liked how well Steve explained the state of my roof and what needed to be done, and invited me up alongside him to show me himself. The actual work and skylight were good, but the communication between picking them and the work was extremely frustrating. After telling them I wanted them to do the work, they texted me when they wanted to come over to do it, but didn't respond to my text asking to confirm the date. They proceeded to move the time they were coming over 5 consecutive times, holding me in limbo for a long time. The work was going to spill into my baby's nap window, so I asked them to come back later, and fortunately they were able to wait until he was up. After 19 years my roof developed a couple of leaks, a small one in an upstairs bedroom and an intermittent long term one on the outer wall of my fireplace. I called Steve at CalBest for an estimate. I was impressed and appreciate his attention to detail. He spent about 15 minutes inspecting the roof before coming down to explain what was needed around the fireplace as well as building up a portion of my nearly flat flat section for better drainage before reroofing. Another roofer spent 5 minutes measuring, didn't address my concerns and said he would email the estimate. Steve beat him by 15%. I didn't need a third estimate, I knew who I wanted for the job. He and his crew wore masks the couple of times we interacted. They cleaned up all the nails or debris around the house. We bought our house two years ago and the inspector told us we were due for a new roof. I got 3 estimates and Steve's came in at a very reasonable cost with enough options for extras or to pair the cost down. We hired Steve to fix our leaking chimney and gutters in last October. He did a terrible job on the gutters and left an old material on the roof. I tried calling him many times to come back and fix it. He blocked my number so I told my husband to use his phone to call. Steve answered. He told my husband he will come but he doesn't know when he will have time to come because he is very busy right now. He never showed up until now.
