bought a spa 2-1/2 years ago from the la county fair. i was told it had an amazing warranty but would probably never need it. my spa is now leaking after 2-1/2 years. i called in for the warranty and now being informed that "if" it is covered there will be a $165 service charge for the travel to my house 9 miles away? be aware of this kind of stuff from cal spas. after speaking with cal spas 5 times, they were kind enough to cover the service costs. read more

We had a leak. Called and set an appointment tent for a technician to come out. A date was set for 9:00-1000 am. Armando Olmos arrived at 9:20. He was very nice. Checked the spa out and found the problem. It was a leak in the filter system. While waiting for it to drain, he checked out some other parts on the spa, gave us info and also preventative steps we can take to avoid some issues that can come up. He started working on the leak. Let us know what he was doing. Also let us know that he had plenty of time to fix our problem so as to not miss anything. It took him a little while to change out the parts that were necessary. We are now filling our repaired spa and so far very happy about the service. read more

Cal Spa sent us a new power supply for our salt system. It has been functioning for two weeks without issue thus far. The previous two did not make it past the 6 - 9 month mark, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that the third party vendor that makes the Cal Spa salt system has indeed fixed the issue! read more

l my husband and I a Cal Spa almost 5 years ago since that time had nothing but problems. We had a problem with leaking when the installer didn't set it upright and hook hose to what it should've been we've had a problem with the bottom of our hot tub, disintegrating and being real rough and changing color in which case they sent out a repair person to look at it, we've sent pictures. We've waited for two years to someone would respond to us regarding this. We keep leaving messages fix the actual problem. I don't know what to do. we've called Cal Spa directly, but have only gotten an answering machine. I've called the actual Ace Hardware store where we purchased the product at Costello's yet they just hand me another number to call today. The repair man that I called said that he would only take text not phone so I texted him that that was poor customer service. He called me back immediately and then said that he just spoke with somebody named Matt who was gonna call me tonight that is crazy because I've called every Costello and every Cal Spa location around and there's no one named Matt. We would like to get our hot tub fixed or replaced if it's still under warranty when they can do it I'm almost afraid that they're waiting until the hot tub is no longer under warranty before they fix it. The customer service is very poor and you will be led from person to person and no one ends up helping you you can't even get a response from the so I personally would steer clear and pick another Maybe those people will have much better customer service than what we are receiving here read more

Cal spas is a great company. The power of their spas/jets is unmatched. They have a terrific warranty and are very user friendly.

Cal Spa Commander 1681. Have owned for three years now. Year one the Cal Spa sticker on the bottom of tub peeled off sending glue pieces all through the water. Year two the shell began to crack along the top edge and cracks have continued to appear and expand in several other spots along the top edge of the tub. Year three the foam headrests began to fall apart. They have since been removed but not yet replaced. I think for the cost of the spa and their warranty they should provide a new tub. The first phone call about the cracks only resulted in a $1500 offering to turn a blind eye to the problem. We have not reached out to them about the sticker or the headrests yet because we are more concerned about the unsightly cracks that continue to appear. Will update this once the issue has been resolved. read more

We bought a 6 person hot tub. It is amazing. The jets are very powerful and help you relax. It is just what you need after a long day at work. Bought a Cal spa 2 years ago to replace a 25 year old Coleman spa on which the heater failed. I should have just replaced the heater. Cal spa had leak within first year - solution to fix it was epoxy - should have made them replace filter housing because now it is leaking again and of course it is out of warranty. The hottub is run year round so can't blame it on freezing. Can blame it on poorly made expensive product. Technician that epoxied it said it was a common problem because they are often stored and transported on their side. Neither store I bought it from nor Calspa are willing to do the right thing which would be to replace the filter housing since it wasn't done properly the first time and seems to be a known problem. Also the screws to hold the panels in place are a joke one is already bent- panel has been opened all of 4 times. read more

However, customer service/production lacks communication, professionalism, and is not helpful. Was told the power panel was a new upgraded version. If this is true, they need to rethink this as you need to be pretty precise when pressing the buttons. read more

Do NOT-Absolutely NOT purchase a spa from the Pomona fair grounds- Cal Spa! This has been such a frustrating experience. After calling daily for 6 weeks and being transferred to one representative because we purchased the spa at the fair, it was finally delivered. Unfortunately, Once delivered by a third party company, the spa couldn't be completed due to tools missing. Waiting now for another third party company (who also doesn't answer the phone) to come and finish setting up the spa. If I could go back to my purchase day, I'd definitely stick to a funnel cake and stay away from Cal Spa sales people. So very disappointed! Happy to update this review today. We were told 2 to 3 weeks deliver, our hot tub was actually delivered 3 days later. Our spa came with a cover, steps, filtration filter and chemical start up kit. Set up was professional, the techs gave a few tips and were in and out quickly. The spa has not disappointed, the amount of pressure from the jets is just right, it heats quickly and holds the temperature well. Worst customer service with no response to emails or voicemails. I ordered a part that weighed less than 6oz. Forced to pay $25 to ship it. I live approximately 600 miles from the order origin. They shipped it to NJ about 3,000 miles away, then to CO. It's been 13 days and I still haven't received it. USPS could have done it for $1.00. Calspas refusing to refund shipping or even discuss. We have questions about some malfunctioning jets, but can't seem to get anyone out to check the product out. Once they have your money, they bail. Ordered a new spa at LA County fair! It was delivered within a week and was very easy to set up and begin using! They did deliver the incorrect steps, but immediately shipped the correct ones. The delivery team was not the best. We ordered the cover with a lift. When my husband reminded the delivery man, the guy stated "Cal Spa's doesn't pay me to put the lift on". ordered an Escape series spa.It was 6 weeks past stated delivery But I was told of that possibility at purchase.. Pros lovely deep seats jets are powerful nice lighting the guys that delivered spa were great But cons...the digital control panel is in the center right where the step in is located being touch controlled makes it difficult to turn on ,doubly hard with wet hands the manual font is tiny and ink is light the stairs,though standard size, need to be taller for those of us shorter and no longer nimble , maybe make a add on step? I chose to include salt generator as my skin is uber sensitive and I've had one previously. But I'm having a difficult time establishing system. The manual is not clear on exactly how to get it going,how much?how long?how to? Oddly the pool store knew less than me about salt.So I went to Secard pools where I bought it and spoke to counter women who again didn't know.She was totally flustered when I asked for 6 lbs on NABR .It would be wonderful customer service to include a set up person for this not cheap system.
