Sooo amazing!! Definitely stop here if you're in custer. Good pricing, the whole place is so cute, and the food is amazing! Our server was very nice and so was everyone else in the restaurant. I got the french toast with a chai, the chai is the best chai I've ever had! And the french toast was amazing! My boyfriend got the breakfast bowl and loved it! Definitely would come here again if ever in the area, don't miss this spot!

    The breve missing its flavoring.

If you want to pay for something you won't get- go here! I ordered a breve with caramel and apple in it (trying to make a coffee version of their seasonal lotus drink!) and whip cream.... It came without whip, so I asked and got it put on top, then realized as I took a sip (halfway back to my car) that they didn't put any apple syrup in it. It's kind of a disorganized wreck. A friend ordered a hot breve and her cup was less than half full. I'd recommend you scoot down the street to minders cup, or, on Sundays, make coffee at your camp spot/hotel. Skip the $6 coffee that doesn't have flavor. They have plenty of seating, but zero space to wait to take coffee to go as well. Overall, I'd give it zero stars if I could.

Staff was a little to seat us but once we were seated service was good and efficient. The home fries were delicious. Everything seems to have large portion sizes. The breakfast burrito was HUGE and super tasty. I got it with the sausage and it had a nice flavor. The eggs were good. The lattes were tasty and made very quickly. It was quite chilly where we were seated which is nice to cool down but you may want to bring a layer. They had really cute decorations and it was a pretty busy place even on a weekday morning. I'd go back!

Cold brew with way too much milk

The cold brew is very weak. Both my friend and I asked for a splash of oat milk. The first one looked like a latte and my friend asked for it to be remade. The remade one was still way too much milk. We both ended up with what tasted like weak coffee and too much milk.

We stopped here on two separate days. I ordered the same thing both days, an iced latte with an extra shot - vanilla and toasted marshmallow. On the first day the coffee was bitter and not overly pleasant, but the caffeine was needed so I drank it. On the second day we stopped much earlier in the day and it was perfect. Everyone's allowed to have off days and the second coffee made up for it. It is a bit slow moving, but you can tell they're a busy place. This coffee shop is connected to a cafe as well that is nicely decorated. Do keep in mind that they stop making speciality coffees at 3pm.

Cute place with lots of old pictures. Really good coffees and teas. Service great. Good breakfast. Crispy potatoes and crispy bacon. The wife had french toast which I tasted and agree it was good.

Friendly service and great food! I ordered the fish sandwich and onion rings...so good! The onion rings were so yummy I was wishing there was a mountain of them! The fish was cooked to perfection and not manufactured fish patties. I really recommend this place!

We had really good service, enjoyed the coffee and my burrito was tasty. They also have a coffee bar for fancier drinks.

Go for the name, stay for the excellent coffee, delicious food, and the not-so-secret meeting of the real movers and shakers in the town of Custer. We went to Calamity Jane's because my wife is into anything to do with that historical figure. Oh, and we needed some coffee and food to get us on the road for the next leg of a lengthy road trip. The name of the place fits just right, with a warm and rustic interior partially lit by lamps along the walls and plenty of historical tidbits about Calamity Jane everywhere you look. The coffee was so good we went for a second round, and the food was simple but satisfying breakfast and brunch fare. While we were enjoying ourselves at a corner booth, a large group of older gentlemen took over a large table grouping in the center of the dining room. They held court on all manner of local issues while they were there - clearly Calamity Jane's is the place to be on a random Tuesday morning in Custer! You may or may not catch a glimpse of the secret cabal of Custer's decisions-makers while visiting Calamity Jane's. But I'd say you're pretty much guaranteed to a fine cup of coffee, a great meal, and a memorable experience.

What a cute shop that also serves breakfast and lunch. We were served by "Lou". She came and told us later her name Is actually "Lushia". What a beautiful name. We ordered flat whites with low-fat milk. Lushia had never made one. When I explained it's between a latte and a cappuccino, she agreed to try it. And she did a perfect job! She gave us cold foam on top since it's National Coffee Day too. Well done!

Fresh oysters for breakfast...in South Dakota? Yes, please!…read more My wife and I stumbled upon this gem on a recent trip through the Black Hills. A note about the restaurant from their website: Erik and Camillia opened Hjem A.M. in 2022 with one goal in mind: bring amazing breakfast food to the Black Hills. The food's focus is seasonality and is inspired by Scandinavian/American flavors. "Hjem" means home in Danish. Camillia and Erik found their home in Custer and want to be your home in the morning. Everything was divine. We wanted to sample the menu so we ordered "The Bob" (pancakes with lemon cream and lingonberry), Lobster eggs Benedict which they were out of unfortunately so the gave us some oysters as an apology. Their quiche of the day was a Mexican inspired elote style with a flaky crust and delightful crema, topped with some pickled onions. Their hollandaise was likely the best I've ever had. The accompanying potatoes and hash browns were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Ashly ordered a sausage patty that included a few chili flakes to wake up the tastebuds. I'd mentioned Ashly's birthday and they brought out a birthday treat - rice pudding topped with dried apricots and granola. And a candle on the side. We certainly felt at home at this lovely place. It had a charming decor and the service was top notch. Be sure to stop by on your next trip to the Black Hills.

A friend recommended this place to me, and she is a pie aficionado…read more I dropped in on a summer weekday afternoon and the line to order pie and ice cream was long. Fortunately it moved fairly quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. The decor is pleasant, kind of a purple Victorian farm house feel. I got a slice of the apple pie and the peanut butter pie to go. The apple pie was awesome! Redolent of cinnamon, the filling was fully cooked, full of soft apple-y goodness. The crust was flaky and sweet and might have have sugar and cinnamon baked in the top crust. Delicious! The peanut butter pie was also great. A soft, light peanut butter filling in a flaky crust. Yummy! The apple pie was the star of the show for me this visit. I can't speak to their ice cream or other offerings. But it looks like they offer lots of savory items as well as coffee drinks. The pie here is truly delicious! My friend did not steer me wrong!

It had plenty of carrots and peas in a thick creamy gravy, snd plenty of big chunks white meat chicken, and side crust not just the little crust on top a lot of places seem to be doing nowadays. It's made here, and it's their specialty. I saw they had strawberry-rhubarb pie and planned on getting a piece. But then noticed their Raspberry-rhubarb-jalapeño and decided I needed to try that. Alas the time for a concert I was going to was fast approaching and I didn't have time for any pie
