Our first visit today won't be our last. I got our order to go. We got the dinner for 4. I know my way around a smoker but this was the best I've ever had. The brisket was so tender, juicy and flavorful. The same with the pulled pork. Our choice for the 3rd meat was the jalapeño cheddar sausage and it was wonderful. The sides were great. I bought a small side of the corn pudding which was delicious. I highly recommend Caldwells to anyone who enjoys BBQ. read more

We've visited their Gilbert location several times but this Peoria location is much closer! Great outdoor seating area that's covered and the inside is open and clean. Picking up an online order today for Father's Day was simple and easy. There was a line out the door but they had a dedicated space at the counter for online orders. The family of 4 dinner is the perfect amount of food. Brisket and tri-tip are our favorites. Extremely flavorful and juicy. The sauces are delicious as well but honestly, you can eat the meat plain and have a ton of flavor. One thing I'd like to point out is that the service is extremely good. The lady who helped us with our online order went through the entire bag to ensure everything we ordered was present. She also gave us the complimentary sausage for Father's Day, which I thought was only for in-person dining. Much appreciated! There's nothing worse than getting home and finding out something is missing or incorrect. Our takeout here was perfect and they did not skimp out on portions like some restaurants do with takeout. Was visiting from out of town and was craving some local BBQ. Found this place and was instantly impressed by being greeted while we looked at the menu board. Staff were friendly throughout our whole experience with different people checking in on us. Customer service made us feel like we were regular locals. The food was amazing! My favorite was the brisket but you can't go wrong with any of their menu items. Nice size portions complimented with their own homemade bbq sauce. I only wished I had time to take the tour of their bbq pits they offered before we left. Definitely will have to take them up on the offer next time. read more

We came here for family dinner on a Friday evening and I've been really looking forward to trying this place! There is plenty of parking around the front sides, and they have a really awesome patio with tables and chairs picnic style, fans, and little table fans to keep flies away! The menu has a huge selection of food to choose from right when you walk in the door, and they also have some great options for merchandise purchases. We went with the family meal deal, but walking around the restaurant to place your order and go through the lines was very confusing. When you walk around the corner from the first menu, you're supposed to pick up your sides and toppings there. We got a family meal for eight, and I swear we got six pickles and maybe five onions. We asked for more and they were super stingy with the toppings. We weren't asked what we were ordering, they just asked us what sides we wanted, but we didn't even know what size to order, because there wasn't another menu around the corner. It would probably be helpful if they asked what we were ordering so that we could tell them, and they would give us the appropriate size side. Seeing as it was our first time there, it was very confusing and also overwhelming when you have such a big menu to look at. I also think that the meat counter should be first, not after the sides, unless there is a better way to explain what you're actually doing since there isn't a menu right there. The girl at the counter where the meats were explained it a little better for us once we got up there with our sides, which is where another menu is located. The food on the tray was amazing. We got pork, brisket, smoked turkey, coleslaw, corn casserole, and I got a sausage link to try. The pork was really yummy and super tender, but the brisket was very dry and it was more fat than actual meat. The turkey was amazing! The meats are great, both the lean and juicy brisket are moist and tender, pulled pork is very good, and the ribs had a great bark, moist, nice smoke and fall off the bone without falling apart (the best). The sides are a step above any other barbecue spot I can think of. Texas chili (no beans!) has a touch of heat. Macaroni is flavorful and not at all gloppy. The lemon poppyseed coleslaw with bits of Granny Smith apples is very unique. The lemon was a bit pronounced for me but my wife is obsessed. The corn casserole is also very good. The bar is limited basically to what's on their menu, but what they do offer is good and a bargain. The ambiance is sort of an upscale Rudy's. Did I mention the ribs?! read more

Go check them out! I'm glad they opened a location in the west valley! I am pleasantly surprised with the options, flavors, and overall service! I got the Family Meal for 8, a quart of Mac n cheese, and 2 jalapeño cheddar sausages. It was quite a spread and my most favorite items were the brisket and the ribs! There was plenty of flavor, strong peppercorn, and everything was well seasoned. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors as well as parking around the location. The service was so friendly and hospitable. You can sample the different items so you know where your dollars are going. Was super excited to try this place. The outside is very nice - large patio area with the tables and picnic tables, fans, and the little table fans to keep the flies away. I wish there was another menu there because even though I literally just looked at the menu, I didn't know the sizes, which sides we were getting, or what was happening. It was also Friday evening with a long line so I felt bad. The lady asked what she could get me. I guess I should have told the girl it was our first time? I told her we were doing the family of 8 meal then she said we got the bigger containers of two sides. Then the guy at the other end gave us onions, pickles, and jalapeños. It was just me and my sister so he didn't give us enough, but after I told him we were doing the family meal, he gave us more. And added bread. It feels like the meat counter should be first? Happened again there and the girl asked what we wanted. I told her we were doing the family of 8 then she explained the options. The ordering experience was just weird. We got pork, brisket, smoked turkey, corn casserole, coleslaw, added a smoked sausage link, and got my toddler Mac and cheese. The pork was great. Nice and tender and it paired well with the house sauce. I love brisket but this one missed the mark. It was 80% fat on all the pieces we got, so that was disappointing. The smoked turkey was good. I really enjoyed the sides - the lemon poppyseed coleslaw was surprising, super refreshing and paired well with the meats. The corn casserole was delicious. The jalepeno cheese sausage was ok, definitely would not pay $9 for a single sausage again. My toddler did not like the Mac and cheese. I'm not sure if there were green chilis in it or maybe it was one of the cheeses, but I couldn't find anything else on the menu she would eat. We spent $150 for our family, which is cheaper than if we each got a meat and sides, but still expensive. Caldwell BBQ had been on our list to try but we just never made it to the east side of town for it. SO happy there's a location close by us now! The BBQ here is fantastic!! The employees were so welcoming and friendly and there is lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We did the family of 4 meal for $65 which is a great deal. We added on a half jalapeño sausage and some desserts. The meats are all so tender and flavorful!! Some of the best brisket we've had. For the sides we really liked the Mac and cheese and corn casserole. The beans needed something to it but were filled with meat bits throughout. The coleslaw wasn't really my cup of tea but I don't really care for more heave based vinegar recipes. The Texas sheet cake and banana pudding were delicious! But they have actually done a lot of work in the area and the restaurant is really nice. Let's move on to the food. You start off in line picking your sides. YUM! I love a side. Then the next line is the meat. Everything looked and smelled so good. I picked my potato, brisket, sausage, and mac and cheese. I also tasted the baked beans and corn casserole. Soooo good. The restaurant was clean, lots of tables to sit at, and everyone was friendly. And before you leave you have to try some dessert. They have Texas sheet cake, pecan pie, cookies, and banana pudding. We stopped at this new Caldwell County BBQ location a few weeks ago--not long after they opened up shop in Peoria. In my opinion, Phoenix's west valley is kind of a barbecue wasteland. Caldwell County has changed that for us by adding this location! I ordered portions of the smoked turkey breast and pulled pork. The employee who portioned my meats offered me a bite of brisket, which was absolutely delicious and made me contemplate my choices. We also shared sides of mac and cheese and corn casserole. Everything tasted super fresh and was delicious. We have been to Caldwell County's location in Gilbert and this new location was much larger and even had a nice patio if you're into eating al fresco. The restaurant looks inviting, friendly and clean as you walk up with some covered outside picnic type tables with a cool misting system and it is just as welcoming inside. My friend thought it was a bit pricey but I found it inline with its competitors Mission and Rudy's so pricing is up for dispute. My St Louis ribs were great as was my buddies pulled pork. He said it was better than the chopped brisket he had on his previous trip here. We both got a side of the corn casserole, which is corn baked inside of cornbread. It was great in our view but easy to stuff yourself with it. Seating tables are plentiful and spread out with a few booths for larger groups so it is comfortable and roomy and you don't share space at communal tables like other places. I can see myself eating here again as I felt like the choices were a bit better here than the two places I mentioned above. I would recommend Caldwell's for sure. read more

It's was my Birthday Weekend and my Boyz wanted to take me to lunch. We eyed a spot in Gilbert and then found they open a spot slightly closer so we headed North 101 to Peoria and Caldwell County BBQ. So glad we did. Great Spot in the center of Peoria. Right across from the Performing Arts Civic Center and park. Nice new digs. We knew we were getting close as we could smell good BBQ before we even arrived. Once on site we met the pit masters n general manager who gave us a tour of the four 1000 gallon smokers. They were also roasting chiles while we were there. Very Kewl Group Welcoming and knowledgeable. Then it came time to sample. We had Brisket, Pulled Pork, Pork Ribs, and Smoked Sausage. Our sides were Mac n Cheese, BBQ Beans, Coleslaw, white bread, pickles, cucumber slices. They offered three different sauces. A Sweet Heat, Arizona Gold (Mustard Base), and a house BBQ. ( All three were very good). But y'all know what I always say. Good BBQ doesn't need sauce. All of the meats were excellent my favorites in order was the Pulled Pork, Brisket, Pork Ribs & Smoked Sausage. The pulled pork was really done well. All the sides were again done very well. But of the three the slaw was best especially with the pulled pork. I put the Hot BBQ sauce on the Mac and it was Banging. I liked it so much I went back in and bought a bottle for home. Walked in at the perfect time no line, which was great. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing that went perfectly, aside from the corn casserole, which was actually pretty delicious. I ordered the corn casserole and the mac and cheese (which was recommended). The mac and cheese was bland, lacked flavor, and was lukewarm at best. For the meats, I ordered the El General sandwich brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. The guy behind the counter asked if I wanted fatty or lean brisket. I went with fatty, but once I saw how thick the slice was cut, I had a feeling it wouldn't be tender... and it wasn't. It was pretty tough for fatty brisket, and the fat didn't render properly. I definitely needed sauce because the brisket itself lacked flavor. The pulled pork was tender, but again, it was mid at best and missing seasoning. The sausage was decent nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. The vibe is super chill with music playing, which I appreciated. But I don't come for the vibes I come for the BBQ and unfortunately, this wasn't it. Overall, I'm glad I didn't make the longer drive out to their East Valley location, because that would've made for a very disappointing ride home. read more

Caldwell County BBQ recently opened for business this past week. They have other locations but this location is in Peoria, Arizona. It's a welcoming establishment. There is a large seating area outside and seating inside. A huge transparent smoke house is next to the outdoor dining area. You can watch them smoke the meats. Inside there was a line leading up to the serving line. Staff ask you what sides you want and they put them in portion size paper holders. The next line is for the proteins, pork, beef, turkey, or sausage. You can have it without bread and it goes by weight or you can have it with bread. There are fountain drinks, bottles of beer or bottles of water. We selected a table inside to eat our dinner. The is staff is wonderful and checked on us frequently. We were given banana pudding on the house because we were married that afternoon on Valentine's Day at Rio Vista Park. Come hungry because they feed you here! The portions are large. We took leftovers home for another meal. We will return because it is delicious! I recommend Caldwell County BBQ. In addition they have parking out front and on the side of the building. read more

Wow! Flavor and a Smile. I am a BBQ connoisseur and Caldwell definitely hits the spot. Their smoke is smoking and their seasoning is seasoning. Best of all everyone working here has the best smile. Their customer service is warm and inviting. Now for the food. First time I've seen a BBQ restaurant start with a sides station. Pretty cool to order sides. We got the Ranch style beans with chunks of meat also tried Mac and cheese. So cheese and yummy. Off to the meat station , glad to see a full menu available on a Sunday afternoon. I always rate BBQ on smoke flavor without any sauce. This BBQ flavor is packed with deliciousness. Wow. I'm was pleasantly surprised how good it all tastes. The burnt ends are brisket chunks with a sweet sauce. It's so good. The Jalapeño sausage is spicy enough. For desert we tried the pecan pie, it's not smoked like Lil Miss BBQ but it's sweet enough not over powering. So good. They have outdoor seating and ample parking with street spots available. Decor is modern and vibrant We had take out this time around. We will enjoy the scenery next time for sure. I need to try the sandwiches next. Rewriting review to suggest improvement. Like most Texas bbq, their beef brisket has a layer of bark that has a concentration of smoke flavor. It's a feature on large center-cut slices I'm use to, but my host and I got slices from the dried tapered ends that were dominated by the bark. We couldn't finish it. Perhaps not serve the ends at current prices. Mix the House and Hot & Sweet sauce. They work better together. read more
