We are from Las Vegas and were recommended this place by a local friend. This was one of the best Mexican restaurants my wife and I have been to. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We were offered pineapple salsa which my wife enjoyed quite a bit. I would not eat a whole serving of this pineapple salsa but a few chips was good. The tortilla chips were very good. Some of the tastiest and perfectly salted chips we've had. The red salsa was so good we both put it on our tacos and enchiladas. Food was fast and fresh. The tequila lime chicken was especially good on both a taco and enchilada. This is a great restaurant to have a casual meal and watch a sports game. My father and I have visited this place 2 times in the last 3 months and we sat at the bar for 10 minutes both times with out being recognized or greeted. It's also looked rather empty when we visited around lunch time. This place doesn't understand customer service. We were recommended this restaurant by the resort we were staying at. Glad we tried it out. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has a lot of seating areas and has a good music selection in rotation. We tried the carnitas burrito and it was okay the sauce was not very tasty but the carnitas and beans were good. We also tried the tacos (fried fish, al diablo shrimp, carnitas and barbacoa). All of the tacos were delicious!! On the smaller side for the price but delicious. The horchata was also very good, the cinnamon on top was a great extra addition. The only thing we did not enjoy was the chips and salsa, the chips were extremely salty and the salsa was not spicy but had good flavor. I would definitely be back. read more

We had stopped by after my nieces winter musical performance at school. The ramen posole sounded interesting but was a complete bust. Nothing about it made me ever want to order it again. Maybe the posole on its own might be slightly better but even then. Nothing about it left anything to be desired. Everyone else's food looked okay. The waitress we had forgot to put in my husbands order so she brought out complimentary guacamole for the mishap. Nothing about our visit screamed omg we have to return! Close to the house , thought it would be a good bet. But..... I was wrong. Tequila Lime Chicken Tacos is what i ordered. Very mediocre at best. Asked for jalapeños, was brought out on the side. Charged $1.00 for each Taco. I have never been charged for Jalapeños at any other Mexican Restaurant I have been to. The Margaritas were very mediocre also. We had a great late dinner last night after a long day of work and errands after work. We saw a sign out front saying this was voted best Mexican food in the area and decided to give it a try. We had the sweetest waitress and she even brought us a bowl of her favorite salsa, the green pineapple habanero, along with the traditional complementary salsa that they serve with chips. I loved both the traditional salsa and this interesting sweet and spicy salsa. We ordered: - #7 ONE BARBACOA ENCHILADA, TWO TACOS (BAJA STYLE PESCADO, BARBACOA) I chose a double serving of black beans instead of pinto beans and rice. The fish taco was really good. Choose if you'd like a grilled or fried. I chose grilled. I'd come back and get this again. The Barbacoa was OK. I did eat both the taco and enchilada and some of the beans. Maybe a little salty but really hit the spot. - FAJITAS SERVED W/ SPANISH RICE Y BEANS Y FLOUR TORTILLAS CARNE ASADA. Hubs said it was pretty good and ate everything. - BAJA STYLE PESCADO GRILLED OR FRIED WHITE FISH, CABBAGE, CHIPOTLE AIOLI, CILANTRO. Hubs also really liked this. Let me say this....today is 9/1...I had a $10 bday reward that ended yesterday. The manager Haley, was so rude and couldn't even honor it ONE DAY LATER!! That is ridiculous. I will never go back. She needs an attitude adjustment too and needs to watch the way she looks at customers. read more

Aside from the locally owned and great drinks (adult beverages such as margaritas), there's not a ton of positive here. The overall look is "eh" and the food is not worth the price. In fact for Mexican food which is usually in the less expensive category, I feel like it's not just overpriced but some of the options for food are just not good choices, example I don't think black beans are universally liked and I wish they'd change some menu item ingredients. The day of the dead decor is fine but not really special. And the service is fine but nothing ti write home about. I honestly would just choose to go elsewhere and that's a bummer cause I like some of the other stuff this owner has. This is honestly an opinion I hear from pretty much everyone I ask. Carne asada fries were their saving grace. Crispy fries, well seasoned and tasty carne with plenty of toppings. Street tacos were mediocre at best. At $5 a pop, that's pretty overpriced - the value is just not there at this premium price point. I will not be coming back for their street tacos. Will stick to my more authentic Mexican spots for $3 per taco that are more generously portioned. Free chips and salsa was nice but should be the standard. Salsa was tasty with roasted flavors and chips came out warm. Side of rice and beans were enough for my toddler; they are definitely trying to cut costs with smaller portions. The premium price point is paying for the dining experience, but if the experience is nothing special, then I'm not going to be happy about paying the premium price tag and then tipping for the service as well. Might as well go to a fast casual spot for cheaper/better/more generously portioned food without having to pay for the server's wage and being waited on. Service was standard and ambiance was okay for an Americanized Mexican joint. Might come back for the carne asada fries but overall nothing spectacular. Plenty of room for improvements. read more

This review is not about thr food but the service. Our non existent server Lexie made sure that she would barely interact and had no interest in serving anyone. We started by asking for some pineapple salsa it took 3 times to get it. Then we ordered an appetizer which it seems we were bothering her on trying to order something. Then she brings it out and bam no plates, we are having a dinner for my wife's birthday and they are eating on napkins. The service was beyond terrible and I could go on. To finish our evening was wanting her to get the fried ice cream and as I expected she just placed the receipt down then had to ask. Then did not bring enough spoons. Normally great experiences at this place but the staff just does not know hospitality and needs some serious training or hire new people that will actually care about their patrons. read more

Cantina Gueros was good! The interior was really fun with some neat wall art. Chips and salsa were good too. The only complaint was service; very slooooow experience for me. Our server was kind. Once seated, she brought our drinks, then the chips. Easy peasy. Then forever to take our order. Refills came, but after a while, and waiting for the bill was another story. If the place is busy, I get it. But there were A LOT of empty tables. The food was good, not great though. The asada reminds me of reheated meat. Like yeah it was good, but it def felt like they made it the day prior and just warmed it up for me. Bean and cheese burrito was great, so that was a win! I wanted to like it but 3 strikes you're out. First visit there was a huge wait when we were next a family came in that had left an hour ago. Even though they were told they would have to rejoin the wait list they complained and were seated before us. That's didn't ruin the experience but was annoying, next visit the chips were stale and cerviche tasted bland. Final visit our shredded meat was so dry and gross. The pineapple salsa is good. We have been looking for a new place for Mexican food in our part of the world. We found a couple seats at the bar. The bar stools are comfy and they have lots of TV's for watching the game. Our bartender was fantastic. He made some great drinks and gave quick service with a good attitude. The chips are excellent - crisp, thin, and hot. The salsas are good too. Our entrées were just OK. The green chili pork needed way more green chili flavor. It tasted like more tomatillos than Hatch green chili. My wife's salad was really wet and she didn't get any cilantro flavor from the dressing. I have said before that great service can overshadow less than stellar food. Our bartender made our visit enjoyable even though our food was not perfect. We will come again and try some other food options. read more
