We were driving up and down the street in Sevierville wondering what to eat and landed on Calhoun's. It wasn't crowded when we arrived but seemed to fill up quickly about 20 minutes after we got there. There's a ton of space inside, and you aren't crammed table to table like a lot of places. There is also an option of outdoor seating. Our server was friendly and efficient, but hurried. You could tell she just wanted to rush through everything which is maybe why my meal came out incorrectly. First off, I was happy to find a plant based burger, the Awesome Avocado Jack Burger. I ordered it with sweet potato fries on the side. I was asked what I wanted on my burger, which was lettuce and tomato, but it came out with neither of those things, but pickles instead. I honestly was very hungry and did not feel like dealing with the mistake so I kept my meal. The plant based burger was very flavorful and I loved the sweet potato fries. I also tried a mocktail, which I believe was called Apple Harvest. It was one of the best mocktails I've had. I'd have no problem visiting Calhoun's again! read more

Stopped here because everything else that we wanted to try had an extremely long wait and we were starving. The place was full but not packed and we were able to get seated in less than five minutes. The host greeted us and immediately found seating for us. The bread( banana muffins/corn bread muffins) that came to the table was hot and pretty good for the most part. We ordered our food, which also came out pretty fast (15-20 minutes?). I did not enjoy my food. I ordered the lemon chicken with Mac and cheese and steamed broccoli ...the lemon chicken wasn't bad and it had a weird taste to me. I was hungry and didn't feel like getting another meal, so I ate some of it. I also don't like to send food back if I don't have to. My partner ordered the ribs, which he said had good sauce but were dry. I'd give another chance but try something different next time. read more

We tried this place for drinks and appetizers at the bar. Service was good. We tried their old fashioned drink and drinks were pretty good. We also liked their assorted breads that are complimentary. Drink prices are not ridiculously expensive either like other places. It was like $10 per drink. Then we also ordered their fish and chips, which were delicious. Why We Went: With so many restaurant options in Pigeon Forge, the only reason we ended up at Calhoun's was because our hotel gave us a $60 gift certificate. We weren't expecting much--but hoped to be pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere & Seating: Walking in, I appreciated how spacious the restaurant was. I can't stand being crammed in next to other tables, so the openness was a plus. However, the hostess area was confusing. One host didn't seem to know what was going on, and another seemed irritated that we walked in at all. I tried to make small talk to ease the tension, but it felt like we were bothering them just by asking to be seated. We requested a booth and were seated quickly, but then I noticed a HVAC vent above us leaking onto the table--right in front of my daughter. That's not only uncomfortable but a sign that the place could really use some maintenance and renovation. Service: Our waitress was phenomenal--genuinely friendly, upbeat, knowledgeable, and attentive. Honestly, she was the highlight of our visit. Despite the food being underwhelming, we still tipped her well because she truly deserved it. Food & Drinks: Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the space or the service. My husband ordered the big BBQ platter, excited to sample their brisket and meats--but left most of it on the table. Everything was dry, hard, and crusted over, like it had been overcooked or sitting under a heat lamp too long. The homemade lemonade had potential but was way too sweet, even for someone who enjoys sweet drinks. On the bright side, the spinach dip was delicious, and the soft pretzels were solid--but those were the only memorable bites we had. Bottom Line: The service was top-notch, and the restaurant is spacious and family-friendly, but the food fell flat. Between the dry entrees, overly sweet drinks, and the dripping ceiling vent, we left disappointed. 1st time here.My wife's steak was cooked to perfection.I had a half rack of ribs and they gave me a whole.They weren't fall of the bone but were still tender.The sauce was good but a little sweet,I prefer more tangy and spicy.My son had the fish and chips and fried pickles.The batter on the fish and the pickles and the batter on them simply wasn't good.Also the (I assume)ranch was not good and needed to be a spicy ranch.The restaurant was very nice and the Service was super.Fix the batter and the pickles and it will up the future score from The Working Man Review. read more

What a terrible meal. At 6:30pm on Sat night they ran out of prime rib which was understandable but also mashed potatoes, milk and ice cream for milkshakes. Instead of mentioning it the server just brought the food didn't mention the lack of mash until we asked. The milk shake did not taste right, the waiter argued that this is how the milk shake is made and brought it straight from the bar. I asked for it to be remade and he came back and admitted they ran out of milk and ice cream The steak was overdone, the chicken Calhoun had no flavor everything was really mediocre except for the pork chop. We ate here last night because they had later hours since we got into town late. I had the calhouns trio. Ribs, shredded pork, chicken strips, and tots. My wife had a well done steak with the house salad. We both enjoyed the meal. Service was fast. It was towards the end of the night but it seemed like the other side of the restaurant towards the bathroom had some real sloppy eaters. There was food all over the ground around 2 tables. Calhouns was recommend as safe option for my gluten free needs. The atmosphere feels like a nicer upscale restaurant, the menu reasonable pricing and the service was good. We went for lunch so there were not too many people in the dining room. There was a police officer eating lunch which gave a clue this place was a good choice ;-). Everyone enjoyed their meal. Always love a good meal at Calhoun's in Pigeon Forge! Great mountain views, great service, and excellent food. No one does ribs like Calhoun's. They have their own special cut of loin back rib, which thins down the 'pork chop end' and makes the whole rack cook more evenly. Smoked thoroughly over hickory and finished on the chargrill with Calhoun's own sauce, these are about as good as it gets! The wings with Thunder Road sauce were excellent, as was my wife's lean cut brisket. They have a special brisket sauce that is excellent. The Smoky Mountain Beans are not to be missed as well! We have long been fans of Calhouns having lived in East Tennessee but after reading the most recent Yelp reviews on the Pigeon Forge location we had some concerns about eating here. We are very glad we took a leap of faith and ate here last night! The restaurant temperature was a bit cool but that was my only negative. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. Our server arrived a few minutes later, introducing himself, took drink orders and asked if we would like a basket of bread. My husband and I enjoyed the bread especially the apple spice muffin we both thought was going to be cornbread . We both enjoyed a half slab of ribs which were tender, delicious and fall off the bone delicious. He had his favorite side - spinach Maria and commented on how good it still is. I had the Mac and cheese which fulfilled every cheesy dream of a great Mac and cheese. Our experience with Calhoun's in Pigeon Forge was great. We would not hesitate to return. Good service. Nice wine by the bottle special on Tuesday evenings. The portions were good sized. Neither my husband nor I could finish our dinner. My husband enjoyed his chicken. My ribs were cooked well. (Neither of us were fans of the bbq sauce.) The rolls were good, but the biscuit was disappointing. The green beans were cooked just right. The Mac and cheese was good. Not bad but not a wow! Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the host who reassured us that our dietary restrictions would be accounted for. The restaurant itself was very clean and the restrooms were orderly as well. Great atmosphere and indoor temperature. Now, onto the food. We ordered some pulled pork, a half chicken, a baked potato, mac n cheese, rice, and the bread bowl. The pulled pork was SO soft, tender, juicy, and an absolute win! The bun is also soft giving it a nice compliment. This was the star of our dinner. The baked potato... ask for butter on the side. They give you a lot which kind of ruins the potato. The chicken was just okay. It was a bit dry and quite flavorless, but you do get a decent portion. The rice on the other hand tasted fake and was completely inedible. The Mac n cheese COULD have been a win if it had flavor. It is save-able with salt and pepper, but some garlic and/or breadcrumbs could take this side dish to the next level. The bread basket was delightful! We loved the assortment of options. Also, the biscuit is quite impressive! Tall and fluffy! The sweet garlic topping on the rolls was lovely. We aren't really cornbread people, so I don't feel like we can honestly rate that part of the bowl. Overall, a solid 4 stars. Service was nice. Dinner was good. We sat at the bar and had a great bartender named Torrie. We weren't very hungry so we just ordered burnt ends and a couple of sides. The drinks were good. I love how they squeeze their own oranges. I highly recommend the red sangria. Everything was good and it was definitely crowded for a Sunday evening so that's a good sign. I did want smoked wings, but they were out sighting supply issues. I ordered a side of broccoli, but it was not well cooked, very hard. My husband ordered a side of french fries which were good. The bread that came before the meal was a variety of cornbread, biscuit and roll. Over all, great experience and I highly recommend. Brisket and steak were dry and bland, potatoes looked like they had been under a warmer all day, mac and cheese was creamy but flavorless. Our spinach and artichoke dip had to be sent back. The chips were oily and stale, and the dip was rancid. If you're coming for a few drinks at the bar, you'll be okay. I wouldn't eat here again, though. read more

I was discriminated! I was looking forward to try their ribs. It's our first time visiting Tennessee (we're from NH). The website said the restaurant was open till10:30pm. We got there 9:15, I asked for a table for 4. Hostess said the restaurant was closed and couldn't sit us. I didn't say anything and walked away. While I was in my car, I saw a party of 6 walk in and not walk out. I went in and she was sitting them. Then I asked her why she told me the place was closed. She started laughing and apologized. Said she did know they were still open and she made a mistake. I went to the restaurant next door because my 12 year old got upset that she was treated different. We came in for my husband's birthday with a party of 9. The food was just ok, the waiter Garrett was great. My major complaint was concerning the temperature in the restaurant. After repeated attempts to bring it to the attention of management, we finally had to actually leave as it was so extremely cold we couldn't even eat. The manager, Chris M never came to our table to address our concerns. I even called after we left to talk to him to no avail. Good service with only mediocre food. I didn't know what to expect when we decided to try this place but I was hopeful. With the amount of cars outside I figured the food had to be pretty good, unfortunately that wasn't really the case. A lot of their food seemed to be things you could get from a grocery store. We tried two starters: the pretzel with beer cheese and burnt ends. Then decided to split the combo platter with ribs pulled pork and tenders. The pretzels were such a disappointment. Frozen pretzels that could be found in a freezer aisle heated up and served with congealed sauce on the side. The burnt ends were decent. Not much to write home about and the combo platter was just ok. The ribs were caramelized to the point that after a while hurt your mouth to eat. The tenders weee good but run of the mill ones you could find anywhere. Their bbq sauce had a very strong vinegar flavor to it that overwhelmed a lot of the actual flavor. We did try a dessert but they were out of ice cream so our server being a rockstar brought it out for us to go and recommended to pick up some ice cream and eat it back at our hotel. Our server was great checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. The food was just not that good and he can't be faulted for that. I visited this Calhoun's the other day and I was needing to eat quickly due to an appointment. I ordered the wet original wings which were delicious. I asked for a biscuit, some bread, and was told that I had ordered an appetizer which didn't allow me to have any bread with it. She even said it was a corporate rule. We regularly eat at the other Calhoun's locations and have for many years and have never been told that anywhere but this location. So, we knew it wasn't a corporate rule. I spent $25. Dollars on the wings I ate and if I had ordered a meal for $15 dollars I could have had bread with it. Where does this make sense to alienate a regular client over some bread? The ale steak was a hit for those who got it. The sides were meh, and the salad was over dressed in my opinion. We did enjoy the drinks and the bread though. The interior was cool and clean and well were both comfortable. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our drinks, complimentary bread and appetizer came out promptly. My wife had the catfish, fries and Cole slaw. I had the Calhoun trio which was brisket, ribs and chicken tenders. The food was good although the ribs were a little drier than I like. Service was attentive at first, lax in the middle but finished strong. The meal is pretty pricey but you did get a lot of food. we decided very last minute to give Calhouns a try & man am i glad we did!!! we were seated very quickly considering it was about 7pm & a decently busy saturday evening. the server asked if we wanted to move from the booth we were in to a corner booth to give us more room because we had our five month old daughter with us & folded her stroller up & placed it at our feet under our table, which we thought was extremely nice & considerate! i got the kick back burger, cooked medium rare. it was cooked PERFECTLY & had so so much flavor! my husband got the bbq trio with bbq pulled pork, ribs, chicken tenders, & sweet potato fries. he loved everything in his meal! not to mention our final beer for our two meals, two alcoholic drinks (one mixed drink, one beer), & two soft drinks was VERY REASONABLE. we planned to go to The Yard Milkshake Bar after dinner but had to push that off as we were both so full we couldn't stand it! we will definitely be returning!! read more
