    Awesome Avocado Jack Burger
    Tara S.

We were driving up and down the street in Sevierville wondering what to eat and landed on Calhoun's. It wasn't crowded when we arrived but seemed to fill up quickly about 20 minutes after we got there. There's a ton of space inside, and you aren't crammed table to table like a lot of places. There is also an option of outdoor seating. Our server was friendly and efficient, but hurried. You could tell she just wanted to rush through everything which is maybe why my meal came out incorrectly. First off, I was happy to find a plant based burger, the Awesome Avocado Jack Burger. I ordered it with sweet potato fries on the side. I was asked what I wanted on my burger, which was lettuce and tomato, but it came out with neither of those things, but pickles instead. I honestly was very hungry and did not feel like dealing with the mistake so I kept my meal. The plant based burger was very flavorful and I loved the sweet potato fries. I also tried a mocktail, which I believe was called Apple Harvest. It was one of the best mocktails I've had. I'd have no problem visiting Calhoun's again!

We tried this place for drinks and appetizers at the bar. Service was good. We tried their old fashioned drink and drinks were pretty good. We also liked their assorted breads that are complimentary. Drink prices are not ridiculously expensive either like other places. It was like $10 per drink. Then we also ordered their fish and chips, which were delicious. Overall we would come back to try other things. Ambiance is not bad and they have plenty of seating. See photos of the food below.

Why We Went: With so many restaurant options in Pigeon Forge, the only reason we ended up at Calhoun's was because our hotel gave us a $60 gift certificate. We weren't expecting much--but hoped to be pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere & Seating: Walking in, I appreciated how spacious the restaurant was. I can't stand being crammed in next to other tables, so the openness was a plus. However, the hostess area was confusing. One host didn't seem to know what was going on, and another seemed irritated that we walked in at all. I tried to make small talk to ease the tension, but it felt like we were bothering them just by asking to be seated. We requested a booth and were seated quickly, but then I noticed a HVAC vent above us leaking onto the table--right in front of my daughter. That's not only uncomfortable but a sign that the place could really use some maintenance and renovation. Service: Our waitress was phenomenal--genuinely friendly, upbeat, knowledgeable, and attentive. Honestly, she was the highlight of our visit. Despite the food being underwhelming, we still tipped her well because she truly deserved it. Food & Drinks: Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the space or the service. My husband ordered the big BBQ platter, excited to sample their brisket and meats--but left most of it on the table. Everything was dry, hard, and crusted over, like it had been overcooked or sitting under a heat lamp too long. The homemade lemonade had potential but was way too sweet, even for someone who enjoys sweet drinks. On the bright side, the spinach dip was delicious, and the soft pretzels were solid--but those were the only memorable bites we had. Bottom Line: The service was top-notch, and the restaurant is spacious and family-friendly, but the food fell flat. Between the dry entrees, overly sweet drinks, and the dripping ceiling vent, we left disappointed. Not worth the full menu price--but fine if you have a gift card and just want appetizers and a nice server.

Long-standing restaurant in Pigeon Forge. Everyday American style food. Barbecue and chicken are good options here the place is always nice and clean and enjoyable to visit. Service is consistent.

1st time here.My wife's steak was cooked to perfection.I had a half rack of ribs and they gave me a whole. They weren't fall of the bone but were still tender. The sauce was good but a little sweet,I prefer more tangy and spicy. My son had the fish and chips and fried pickles. The batter on the fish and the pickles and the batter on them simply wasn't good. Also the (I assume)ranch was not good and needed to be a spicy ranch. The restaurant was very nice and the Service was super.Fix the batter and the pickles and it will up the future score from The Working Man Review.

We ate here last night because they had later hours since we got into town late. I had the calhouns trio. Ribs, shredded pork, chicken strips, and tots. My wife had a well done steak with the house salad. We both enjoyed the meal. Service was fast. It was towards the end of the night but it seemed like the other side of the restaurant towards the bathroom had some real sloppy eaters. There was food all over the ground around 2 tables. Also the men's bathroom had the trash over flowing and paper towels on the ground.

Calhouns was recommend as safe option for my gluten free needs. The atmosphere feels like a nicer upscale restaurant, the menu reasonable pricing and the service was good. We went for lunch so there were not too many people in the dining room. There was a police officer eating lunch which gave a clue this place was a good choice ;-). Everyone enjoyed their meal. The brisket chili was a favorite and the ribs tender! I had the pork plate with cinnamon apples which were both gluten free and safe for my celiac needs.

We were seated, greeted, ordered drinks and appetizer and it went even further down hill from there. Our server never brought my husbands drink, finally had to find the manager to get it. She never came to take our order, so had to find the manager again. I know you might be thinking, why didn't you leave? We purposely came later to avoid crowds and didn't know if we would be able to find anywhere else to go. Our server had a huge table that she messed up, so she was flustered, I get it, but never came back. Manager finally took our order, food came out, food was good, maybe not best choice to come at end of night, felt quality might have been better earlier in the evening. I had to yell across the booths at my server and ask for a refill of tea, she literally brought me a glass of tea, no ice. I said, can I have ice, still giving her benefit of doubt as she was visibly upset; never came back to our table, swept the floors, cleaned booths and walked by twice, and then she said, as we were still eating, you want your check? The service was HORRIBLE!! I get it, you had a bad table, but take care of the one you still have!! She also swept right in front of our table as we were eating and said, I won't sweep under you since your still eating, gee thanks! IDK if this is the norm, but we weren't impressed. So sad when you are excited to go somewhere and it turns out like this :(

They definitely don't skimp on portions. The chips are seasoned really well, the cheese sauce has great flavor without being overly spicy, and if you're not a fan of heat, the jalapeños can be served on the side. One thing I appreciated was being able to choose our own BBQ sauce from the options available at the table. Both sauces were solid, and it was nice to customize each bite to our taste - one more sweet and the other more savory. The rest of our group was equally happy with their meals. My mom ordered the brisket sandwich and loved it, while my brother-in-law got the quarter BBQ chicken and said it was cooked perfectly: juicy, flavorful, and with just the right amount of pinkness that good smoked chicken often has. A great bonus is that you can add their ultimate salad bar to any entrée for only $8, which is a fantastic value. The staff was wonderful throughout our visit: kind, patient, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They answered questions without making us feel rushed and kept everything running smoothly for our group. We walked over after spending time at Ober Mountain, and it made for the perfect meal after a busy day. My only "complaint" is that they serve Pepsi products, but that's really just because I'm a devoted Coke fan, so I'll chalk that up to a personal character flaw rather than a restaurant problem. Highly recommend if you're looking for generous portions, great BBQ, and friendly service in Gatlinburg.

After joining the waitlist online before driving to the restaurant, we were seated immediately upon arrival at a high top in the bar area. I enjoyed the chill vibe. Our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful. I ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye. Our server said it was his favorite thing on the menu and I could see why. The steak was cooked perfectly. It was marinated in pineapple ginger sauce and then basted with teriyaki. It was absolutely juicy and delicious. I highly recommend this steak, which rivals the steaks at any of those over-priced steakhouses. The steak came with a salad and I chose the house lemon dressing. I continue to dream about this creamy, slightly salty dressing. They should definitely bottle it and sell it! I chose a baked sweet potato for a side and it was huge and unfortunately not cooked through, but I enjoyed the fully cooked parts. My husband ordered the Killin Me Burger, a full pound of meat with onion straws and thousand Island dressing on a brioche bun. He said it was the best burger he's ever had and my man knows his burgers! The bun was struggling, so my only suggestion is a sturdier bun. A really magnificent meal at a fun place! I've put it on my favorites list.
