We ended up in arbitration and won our case. Electrical "life safety issues" were discovered while doing rework. So the best thing to come out of the terrible work they did is that it was so bad that we ended up deciding to redo a bunch of the drywall at which point we uncovered several more serious issues. Don't get scammed by their weasely words. Mistakes were made and shortcuts were taken. I ended up having to completely demo out one of the walls they put in and found they had never finished demoing the original plaster walls and drywalled right over nails sticking out of the studs and plaster still attached to the studs (Thus why walls were so wavey). They also adding some framing that protruded from the wall which compounded this. To address a few of the lies in their response: "The bowed ceiling you mention here was not a part of the contract so it was never touched, however, the lower part of the bathroom wall was our responsibility, so we replaced 2 feet of drywall from the floor up but I see no evidence or word of this." I have attached pictures of the work they did to the ceiling. They not only opened up the ceiling to fish a wire to the vanity (where the corner is wavey), but they also installed and wired a ventilation fan where another corner of the wall is wavey. And to clarify the issue with the doors, the industry expert confirmed with the arbitrator that the one door was not properly installed despite them "moving" it around in the door frame (They never moved teh location of the door). It was centered such that a jamb spacer could not be used, and the second time they installed it with the jamb spacer on the wrong side such that it affects how the door latch functions. The contract did include replacing the hot water pipe to the shower, but they deny this even though it was clearly written in the contract. As for them not finishing, that is true, despite them trying to get the rest of the money from me. As far as them saying they would have "fixed" the rest of the bathroom, well you don't paint over unfinished drywall and even holes in corners and then put up trim (such that those holes cannot be patched without removing it) if you intended to fix those issues. Many electrical code violations and other problems: - Found wire splices in the walls with no electrical boxes. - Found non-accessible boxes with loose wire nuts in the ceiling. - Found Smart toilet outlet had no ground, medicine cabinet outlet had no ground. - Found they had tapped into a garage circuit to power the vanity outlet (Code violation) - Found the wire they used to install the new vanity outlet was undersized (14awg/15amp wire connected to a 20 amp circuit). - Ventilation fan was mounted incorrectly - Vanity light was mounted off center. - One door needs to be re-installed correctly. - Walls needed to be replaced / re-opened to run the correct wiring (and a new run from the panel to the vanity outlet). - Corner bead / tape was not used when repairing or installing new corners. - Multiple drywall installation and finishing issues. - Horrible paint job. We needed to replace our master bath cast iron tub in our rental property due to it rusting. After interviewing a few different bath remodel companies they all stated that we would need to replace the entire shower and walls. In the process they were trying to upsell us on expensive materials/finishes. We decided to go with Yoseph and his team because he seemed to be the most honest. We really liked the fact that we pick the materials/finishes we want and all he does is the installation. Considering this is a rental property we wanted to use the most cost effective/less maintenance materials. Yoseph met us at Lowes's and he had the dimensions for everything we decided to replace (tub, walls, vanity sink and countertop, faucets, mirror, light fixture,). He came organized with a checklist for all the materials that we would need to include replacing old valves behind the wall. The communication with Yoseph was paramount because we live out of state and had to go back home while the renovation was being completed. He texted me daily with updates to include pictures and video of his progress. We never incurred any hidden fees as Yoseph was completely transparent and highly communicative. We wanted to update the kitchenette in the Studio apartment which is located on the second floor of our home, and also expand it in order to incorporate a full sized fridge and add a washer/dryer. We were having full condo renovated before we moved in, but were living in the Bay Area. We were doing an older kitchen remodel, 2 bathroom (1 guest bathroom and one master bathroom,new vinyl flooring, some drywall &paint work. We'd previously hired someone else and they did it wrong (not up to code - when our dryer was delivered, it wouldn't work and the dryer technician told us the outlet could have caused a fire because it was poorly installed), and Cali Bath and Kitchen came in and fixed it. The electrician (Krasie) was really efficient and and did great work, and Joseph is super nice, honest and knowledgeable. This company is a 12/10. Highly recommend. This past year, I renovated my Master Bathroom as well as my Kitchen. I had zero idea on what I was doing and where to even begin. I got a quote from Cali Bath and really clicked with Joseph and his team so decided to move forward with the bathroom project. I was very transparent about not having any idea on what I was doing and that I would need my hand held through every step of the process. Joseph and his wife were so helpful and went above and beyond what I imagine any other company would do. Called explaining what we needed for our small kitchen condo to sell it, told them the quotes we were given from other companies, told them ideally what we'd like to stay under. Arranged for someone to be at the condo a few days later at 10am only to be told that the minimum for kitchen remodel is a $15k job, which might be understandable on a house, but not a tiny condo kitchen. Could have easily said that over the phone a few days ago, then we would have just said no and moved onto the next company. They were nice, but $15k would make them the most expensive quote yet out of the 6 we priced. No idea on quality of work or anything, I'm sure it's nice. Probably should tell people inquiring that the minimum is $15k. read more
