The menu was vast with plenty of options, making it difficult to choose what to order. The service was good, and the staff was attentive. I ordered the chicken tacos and chicken quesadilla, both of which were nicely made but lacked a bit of spice for my personal taste. I can understand the restaurant may have kept the spiciness at a minimum to appeal to a wider range of diners. The flan was average. However, the fries were a nice accompaniment to the meal. Overall, I would recommend Cali and Tito for those looking for good food and a relaxed atmosphere. However, it's worth noting that if you are looking for spicier cuisine, you may have to ask for spicy salsa or something. Amazing Latin American food at an unbeatable price. Service is very friendly, attentive, and as fast as possible given the fact that they are generally packed with customers. Their menu ranges from something for vegans to meat lovers, along with plenty of gluten-free and other allergy-friendly options. Decorations are eclectic and fun, adding to one of the best dining experiences in Athens. Took friends from Florida who are very picky about restaurants and they were pleasantly surprised. Thce east side location is much less crowded, especially when UGA is in session and you can order and get your food much more quickly. They also take cards as payment and serve alcohol, the Lumpkin St location is cash only and BYOB with and$2 charge. I usually order a sandwich (they have several Cuban or Peruvian choices) or the lomo saltado. The portions are generous and I always have leftovers, which still taste great later on. I was in the mood for something good today on my day off from work. I was thinking about metro Atlanta. But I opted against that since I wasn't interested in driving to Lawrenceville today to Red Robin after checking out thier menu. Nothing stood out. I am glad I didn't. I went to Cali n Tito's instead and it was not a disappointment. I called my order in. They were great over the phone. I ordered the hot dog and egg cuban sandwich. I know it sounds disgusting but trust me. It is delicious. I had fries as a side. Fortunately it was 2:47pm just shy of lunch time being over so I was able to get the 7.49 special. Upon my arrival my food was waiting for me. The owner and I had small talk and he gave me a discount on my food for the take out charge I imaigine. And he also threw and extra soda in my meal. Just found my new favorite Cubano at Cali N Titos on South Lumpkin St in Athens! Slightly edging out The Havana Sandwich Shop in Atlanta because the sandwich just THAT good. The bread is perfectly pressed, and the ham, pork, and cheese blend in with just the right amount of mustard. The original location might be smaller, but it's packed with charm inside and out. Plenty of benches outside and cozy tables inside. The chicken empanadas are great, and I have no doubt the beef are just as tasty. This is a great restaurant. Great venue and set-up. Outdoor seating is available during warm weather. This is a BYOB establishment. For a few bucks you can bring in a cooler and drink your own beer. Why? The restaurant is located next to a school and cannot legally sell alcohol (this goes out to all those ignorant ones who think they are just too cheap to get the license). The latin food here is really authentic. I had the big burrito (6.75$ Dinner). It was loaded with spices and taste. I feel this food have easily filled me up, but we had some great salsa and chips prior. Very reasonable prices for such great food. Great appetizers and great slection. This is an awesome place that has the best Cuban sandwiches. The eggs are farm raised organic with no preservatives and are one of the best of class. A chaotic period, and when my brother and/or I were in town to help out with these exhausting and time-consuming tasks, finding quick, reasonably priced, somewhat healthy, and hopefully tasty food was challenging indeed. I unfortunately didn't discover Maepole until 2025, but it nicely ticked off those boxes. Maepole is basically a "fast casual," Southern-inflected "bowl" place, with a much heavier emphasis on the nutritious and fresh than is typical of traditional Southern cooking. You start with a base, just like at Chipotle or Cava--greens, sweet potatoes, or quinoa, etc.--and top with veggies or salads, and, if you prefer a protein, you can add chicken, pork, or tofu. Or you can just go full-on veggie plate. Top with a flavorful sauce; my favorites were the spicy avocado and lemon herb. My general impression of the food quality was that it wasn't quite at the five-star level some of the time--veggies weren't always cooked to perfection, for instance--but the general experience and value, as well as the bold flavors, argue for bumping this rating up to five stars. I enjoyed the salad way more than I thought I would. The spicy avocado dressing is YUMMY! The greens were cooked to perfection - another shocker. The edamame crunch, tofu and crunchies were just as delicious. I will visit the Atlanta location just to try the fritters! A wonderfully healthy and scrumptious delight !
