The grouper nuggets as appetizer and the coconut shrimp were highlights. The mango habanero sauce with the shrimp has a kick but I wanted more. Good bar selection! Very disappointing experience. The owner/bartender was extremely rude. I politely mentioned that another customer had been waiting before us, but he ignored me and said, "I'm not talking to you." My friend is a regular, and it seemed like he was focused on serving her first. I pointed out that the young woman ahead of us had already been waiting for about 10 minutes before we even arrived, but he showed no concern. Customer service should be based on fairness and respect, regardless of whether someone is a regular. The dismissive attitude and lack of professionalism left a very negative impression. Came in town to visit a friend of lunch on a Saturday afternoon! Parking: very small lot, only holds about 10-15 cars. Hard to park in a retail lot down the street and walk. Service: service was okay! But definitely hard at times to chase down a waiter to get something like additional ketchup because the bottle on our table was empty. Food: It did the job! After passing by this place numerous times, I finally tried this place. Just know that parking is limited, and they allow you to park at the fire station across the street. We were able to get a table with like a 10 min wait, and after looking at the menu, we ordered the following: a moscow mule (it's made with rum not vodka apparently), fried shrimp basket with fries and mac and cheese, and fried oyster basket with fries and coleslaw. I took my sister and brother in law to eat at this restaurant and all I can say was that the food was unremarkable, the bill was high and the ambiance was just blah. I went there once and I've never felt the need to return. That is how unremarkable the food was. The waitress had to come up and down the stairs with our food and to be honest it made feel awful to ask for anything. The waitress was nice. read more

Despite being blazing hot outside, we sat up on the balcony with a fan on full speed. We staff very friendly and nice and the atmosphere is very casual and low-key. I moved from Athens 3 1/2 years ago and Marker 7 was a great place to eat. It was one of my favorites. There must have been a change in management. The hostess at the front has got to go. She barely acknowledged us, never made eye contact, and almost grunted answers to questions. She sat in a chair near the kitchen half the time on her phone. The hostess and serving staff were in faded sweatshirts, yoga pants, and baseball caps. The staff acted like how they were dressed. For the price point of the food the service did not live up to expectations. The food was delicious. I had the coconut shrimp. Kudos to the chef. The management needs to step it up and expect more out of the employees. read more

big shout out to the emotionally infantile bartender working last Sunday afternoon who treated me and my elderly mother like invisible garbage after completely misunderstanding our (admittedly ridiculous) attempt to be friendly/funny - and then refusing to accept the sincere apology my mother made to you when we eventually clued in that you were angry and had therefore drop-kicked us into a 'void of non-existence' even though we were sitting *right in front of you for over an hour.* Thankfully another employee took pity on our confusion and came over to take our order; she was understanding and accommodating, i.e. a pro. Whatever fiction you told your co-workers and perhaps Mr. Lloyd (who showed up behind the bar just before we left) about the situation must have been truly creative. See you again soon - well, not me but very likely my mother. She lives 4 miles down the road from Marker 7 and is a frequent patron, which is a truth several of your co-workers can share with you. I've been here a handful of times and the food is nice but not an Athens staple in my opinion. This was my first time trying the po boy and it was pretty decent! I got it with oysters which I don't regret! I wish it had less of the lettuce and everything but that's just a personal preference. The amount of oysters was perfect for the sandwich size though. Now, the calamari wasn't my favorite. It was too salty for my liking and I didn't like how it was paired with marinara sauce :( I prefer the grouper nuggets over that. read more

AMAZING!! Some of the best blackened shrimp I've ever had. Sweet potatoes and broccoli were also a 1000/10. Come here every year for my birthday. Best seafood in athens! Their drinks are great and the food is even better. The platter is such a great deal and we never miss the grouper nuggets! On my platter I get clam strips, calamari, an extra side of hushpuppies, and mac n cheese. Their hushpuppies alone are spectacular. The Mac n cheese with some hot sauce is awesome! I wish they had dessert but other than that no complaints. Usually a pretty long wait even on weekdays so get there early! Cute spot but not super upscale. read more

I just recently discovered this place while trying to kill some time waited for an afternoon tee time at the UGA golf course. How fortuitous. I have now visited a second time (this time with my grandsons). My food was excellent for both my visits, and my grandsons also raved about their selections. The first time I chose the clam strips basket (the best clam strips I have ever had), and the second time I had the shrimp po boy which was delicious. Appetizers were YUM. 5/5 Main: Buffalo shrimp basket (2), salmon BLT (2) and a shrimp basket. We all had fries/slaw. None of us were impressed by the slaw. There was no flavor and it was just blah. However, there were no other complaints. It was delicious. The BLT's were made with fresh bacon and salmon. The shrimp was also fresh and the buffalo was well seasoned. They have a house made chipotle ranch dressing that is great for dipping fries. Overall YUM 4/5 Dessert: we al shared a slice of bourbon pecan pie and key lime pie. Brunch with my daughter today. We started out with the spicy avocado bites. Omgosh these were PERFECT! Not soggy or overcooked the avocado inside was warm and perfect. Not mushy. It held it's form when you bit it in half. She had a mimosa, I had a spicy bloody mary and they were both perfectly made as well. My spicy had great flavor. I got the crawdaddy hash. Seriously! We stopped into Marker 7 Coastal Grill for lunch while visiting a friend and were delighted at the relaxed environment, pleasant and prompt service and wonderful staff. A lovely gentlemean at the next table mentioned that he stops at Marker 7 every time he's in town for the fresh fish, and he and wife were having fresh grouper I believe. He had it fried, his wife had it grilled...whatever it was, looked deicious! Sadly, we saw that they had crab cakes, which we all love and we ordered as a sandwich, entree and as a salad. We also ordered fried green tomatoes as a starter. Fried green tomatoes were a great start for the 3 of us and were hot out of the fryer, firm and delicious with remoulade sauce. Crab cake patties via entree, salad or sandwich had fine eye appeal. The orange vinaigrette was absolutley perfect on the house salad and is now my favorite salad dressing. Side of slaw was on the mark. However, perhaps we erred in not seeing that the crab cakes were not lump crab meat but were mushy, fishy tasting, and may have been canned crab. Definitely not a keeper. Next time we'll stick with the fresh fish recommendation! read more

What a pleasant surprise in Athens! The Hawaiian scallop appetizer was perfectly cooked and the sauce with the pineapples that accompanied it was absolutely a party for your taste buds. I mean I wish I could swim in that sauce! Next, I had the red snapper which was the fish of the day accompanied by asparagus and mac & cheese. Great food with solid prices and large portions. Fresh seafood and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a very beachy vibe. Super friendly servers but can get very busy and loud as it's a popular spot. Can be difficult to find parking but they have expanded parking across the street now to help. The steak was cooked to perfection medium rare, and the scallops were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sides were sweet potatoes (a little dry but tasty) and asparagus which was blanched well. My wife got the basket of fried shrimp. The hush puppies and fries were all tasty. And for desert we tried both options the key lime pie and the bourbon chocolate pecan pie. The key lime was bland (I prefer a tart key lime pie) but the chocolate pecan pie was phenomenal Our server was extremely friendly, bubbly, and attentive server. She was on top of everything and made great recommendations. The only thing I didn't care for was the beachside/dock-like look, feel, and smell.
