Very poor service. Very poor quality of work. They sold me old hunter Douglas shades. Support was non existent.. they didn't even know the product line they sold. Since I did not buy additional drapes from them they were not at all helpful with the issues with Hunter Douglas they made me buy. The shut and close the issue without trying to help. The only response they had was I have an old shade so better to buy a newer version. They suck! Sherry Glommen the rep that assisted me doesn't know Hunter Douglas products, keeps on adding charges for drape measurement, doesn't give concrete details on the work to be done and tries selling their own line. Very poor experience. Will not recommend these guys. read more

I had such a fantastic experience at Calico back in October.First of all,the store is beautifully organized.The floor plan is very open,the fabrics are displayed with like colors together.and it is easy to walk around and see everything...no clutter anywhere. Second,the fabric selection AND quality of fabric was top notch.I had no problem finding many things I liked. Third,Sherrie was the person who helpeD me with everything.I had chairs recovered,ottomans recovered,pillows made,and chair cushions made.She listened to my ideas and she had wonderful ideas to go along with mine. Fourth,all the work was done in the time she told me it would be AND it was beautifully done.I had not one complaint. 2021 will go down as my Calico Home year. Sherry Glommen helped me make significant progress furnishing our newly remodeled home. Beautiful and comfortable sofas, smashing throw pillows, and gorgeous curtains are helping to create the bones of the living room. Additionally we ordered dining room chairs to accompany our new table -- we are waiting with anticipation for the dining room to come together when the chairs and table arrive. The design consultation with Sherry was critical for me. I would not have felt confident spending what I did without her guidance. My confidence grew the longer we worked together. Sherry invested a great deal of time with me and it made the whole experience relaxed, fun, and very productive. Additionally, Sherry was incredibly respectful of my budget and helped me save money in creative and strategic ways. Sherry communicated well, kept me informed about order progress, and checked-in with me to ensure I felt comfortable through the ordering and delivery. I really can't say enough about her -- she really knows how to put together an elegant room that also feels comfortable and cozy. I appreciated that she respected that we have three cats that get on everything. And she demonstrated that she was paying attention to everything I shared about our house, and how we want it to look and feel. I have future plans for another set of curtains for my office, throw pillows in the great room, and beautiful bedding in our bedroom. Calico and Sherry are my design secret weapons. Do yourself a favor -- if you knew Calico Corners from 40 years ago, forget all that. This corporation has transformed itself into a contemporary furnishings design house. They have hired designers with flair, experience, and the ability to understand both the style preferences and needs of their clients. Finally, the fabrics are high quality, contemporary while offering lots of diverse choice, on-trend, and there are a variety of price points to serve many budgets and visions. The workmanship on our upholstered furniture and accents is superb. I am so grateful to Sherry and Calico. I could shop other places. And I won't. To the snobby older saleslady who lost interest in me as soon as I said I didn't want to spend too much money, I would like you to know that I found a local seamstress who made me some fabulous curtains at a quarter of the price that you quoted me. I just had 8 dining room chairs, sofa and chair recovered. In all areas, they have surpassed my expectations. - Sherry, the designer who assisted me, was able to focus in on my style and help me choose the perfect materials. - Once the material arrived, it was a seamless (no pun intended) process to have my furniture picked-up, recovered and returned. - The reupholstery was completed within 2 weeks and beautifully done! - Their upholstery partner is wonderful - great attention to details, extrememly polite and professional. Went in regarding reupholstering some furniture (this is the 3rd time in 6 years we've tried to do business with this store, each time equally disappointing). Attitude of sales personnel was very dismissive. Have never been prejudged or treated the way way we were. I would not recommend that you use Calico Corners. Find a company that has a local workroom and doesn't outsource there work to a 3rd party. The turn around time is incredibly long, poor communication, and the finish product was inferior to the local shop we used. They do have a good selection of fabrics in a nice showroom, but then again, you are paying a premium price for that too, We have had to have them come out several times to replace or fix mistakes that they have made. I should have read the feedback here and taken other's advice. I think that my two stars are almost generous. They have left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth since my wife got tired of dealing with them and handed over the communication to me. We are not entirely dissatisfied with the product not entirely pleased either. The post right above this has been happy with her experience and I think that is great! However, my experience has been far from good and I am of the opinion that the other post here are valid. Read each post and you will see a consistent message about the length of time to deliver the product, quality issues, etc. read more

The customer service here is very poor. My mom returned samples and asked to order the curtains she liked. She was told to come back because the person who initially helped her wasn't there. How ridiculous. Can't anyone help? What a waste of time! In previous trips, associates were putting away fabric instead of helping customers. I recently had a design consultation with Sherry. She helped me solve several decorating issues. Because of her her expertise, I was able to narrow down a selection of several appropriate fabrics for my projects. I especially appreciated the way she politely steered me away from some fabrics which would not have worked for my needs. I really enjoyed working with her and I will definitely seek out her services in the future. Sherry really listened to me and she knows the merchandise very well which enabled her to quickly focus on fabrics to suit my taste and accomplish my vision. I am surprised at the poor reviews. I have had several jobs completed by this Calico Corners in San Jose, and I have always found their customer service and fabric selection to be outstanding. I worked with Ritu Luther for this job, re-upholstering two pieces. I had vague ideas when I went in, but based on a previous job I knew that the staff would guide me to the appropriate fabrics and help with design choices. I was not wrong. Ritu helped me pick fabrics that were in line with my ideas, and also sent me home with some "dark horse" choices. In both cases the "dark horse" choices won out. She was also very in tune with the fact that I needed very durable fabrics to withstand traffic in a house that is in the woods and is inhabited by muddy dogs! I thought I'd be limited to drab outdoor type fabrics - well it turns out that the outdoor/sun resistant/stain proof fabric market is much more extensive than I could have imagined. It is true that lead times are long. However when you talk to your design consultant they are very clear on the time frames. I am fine with that. Ritu set those expectations very clearly. The shop that they use does amazing work. Seams and prints are matched perfectly. Both pieces I had recovered for this job have large scale prints that would look terrible if they weren't expertly matched. These are, and I am over the moon. I will use Calico Corners for my next upholstery job. Kudos to you! read more

Very good selection - and a niche market. I wasn't sure who else to go to when I needed to have custom cushions built for my new kitchen benches. They did a wonderful job explaining the whole process of how to maneuver through the many options, and then they delived on time. Here's the stickler - they are very pricey, and they take a long time to have custom work done. But in the end I felt it was worth it. I'm not sure who else I could have gone to that would have done such a wonderful job. So if you can part with the time and the money, Calico Corners is a good way to go. read more

I purchased a sofa and loveseat with performance grypton fabric. Within 4 months there was a seam rip. I've had 3 other rips and we are empty nesters so they are not seeing that much wear. Cushion fabric was buckling and I went back to the store to see if they could remedy the situation. The service I received was sub par especially for the price I paid for these pieces. The manager said they were quality pieces from Vanguard. Everyday I regret purchasing theses sofas - fabric is messy which should be tailored, no help from store to remedy and they are uncomfortable. I can't wait to move a pitch these low quality sofas to the curb. I would not recommend calico or vanguard products read more

Do no use! We are still engaged in a 6 month battle with them over horrible upholstery work. They will not give us our money back, they keep "accidently" using the wrong fabric to cover our couch and chair and each time they take the furniture we wait months for it to return and then it still isn't done right! This last time they took the down stuffing out and filled our chairs with foam instead. The battle continues.... read more

Purchased very large curtain and curtain rod plus their installation. Curtain rod came incorrectly configured from the factory, took 3 weeks to get correct part. Drapes were dragging on floor so installer had to raise curtain rod height. I had very clearly asked him for the curtain to be high enough to clear a floor mat, but they did not, so he had to raise the curtain rod height a second time. He left screw anchors, holes, and partially patched holes for me to take care of. I will post pics here. He did most things by eye, and measured very little. I should have done the installation myself saving money and getting WAY better results. read more

EEk! How about no stars?? Stopped by today to check on upholstering a Victoran couch that just needed a new cover. Had the yardage (6) already determined by experts. Ruth waited on me:: $1500 labor to upholster small couch,and the accurate 6 yds. of material were oddly doubled by her to 12 yds. (noone had even seen the couch). When I blew up, Ruth looked at me blankly and couldn't even understand what the couch looked like anyway. Left Ruth behind to tour the available fabrics on the shelves--horribly cheap and ugly. What happened to the lovely Calico Corners of the 1990s??? Who bought out this store and created dishonesty, trash fabrics and ignorant, rude salespeople? All bad reviews not surprising! . Don't be fooled by what this store used to be, those of you who remember. It isn't any more. read more

Very poor service. They subcontract the upholstery department, with very unreliable contractors, who don't show up or call! Go else where, I was told the whole process would take 8 weeks, we are going on 3 mos. They charged me the whole amount and I still don't have the merchandise! We've bought draperies and fabric from this store over the past 12 years. Their selection is large and diverse and they have reasonable prices. Sandy, who helped us pick fabric for drapes this last time was very helpful and knowledgeable. We did run into some issues with a custom drapery rod and drapes that came without some of the hardware and instructions. When I called the store, another associate said that was the fault of the subcontractor firm. When I asked to talk with the manager, the associate did hand over the phone and the asst manager, Ritu understood our issue and seemed genuinely concerned. She decided to send over one of the installers and NOT charge us for the installation. The installer had the hardware, and installed the drapes in 40 min. The drapes look great. Ritu took the initiative to fix the situation and we're impressed that Calico stands behind their word read more

BUYERS BEWARE! I went in to order fabric for reupholstering 6 chair cushions and they ordered 2.5 times more fabric than I needed. When I went in to complain about the excessive amount fabric ordered their excuse was that each design room is set up differently and some places take the time to cut the fabric differently. They ordered what their design room recommends. (So are they wasting fabric or over charging customers and reselling the excess out on the floor?) When I said I wanted to be refunded for the overage, they said they would accommodate me this time. Seriously?! I highly suggest that you go to an outside upholsterer and find out the yardage from them and have them do the work. Because of this experience I question Calico Corners business ethics and will not be doing business with them again. read more

In the past, I have loved this place and spent many thousands of dollars decorating my living room because the sales lady who helped me was such a great designer and support person. But early this year I went in to order more fabric and Serrina McAuley, though she pulled some samples for me, didn't help out much. I intended to order my goods that day during the 'sale' she informed me about. So I told her I would go home, check colors and call back. I didn that immediately. I didn't hear from her. I called again the next day. I didn't hear from her. The sale ended and I shopped somewhere else. SO disappointed because the selection at Calico is beyond compare. But. What can you do? read more

I have used Calico (previously "Calico Corners") for years. I've worked with the stores in New York, Oregon, and California. All have been terrific....and their fabrics are still the best, especially when you can catch a sale. Most recently I worked with Violette at the San Jose store. I found her to be professional, courteous, creative, and very helpful in assisting me select fabrics for our guest room as well as my daughter's bedroom. Additionally Violette stayed 'on top' of the whole process -- making sure I was kept informed and up-to-date on the status of the various orders. This store even shipped my daughter's order to her in Massachusetts. My daughter is thrilled! Thank you Violette for your wonderful help. You made a possibly daunting experience easy and fun. I have been in and out of this store for years and have rarely had a Five Star experience. Five Star experiences are those where you find fabric you really like in stock and on sale - AND can find a clerk who is not ignoring you and then take fabric home with you. Today I am really annoyed because fabric I ordered over a MONTH ago still has not arrived. If you are going to buy fabric and do your own sewing (or hire someone else) - do not order fabric from Calico. Take a photo of fabric and then order online from some other company. Fabric will be cheaper (!$) and you will have delivery in well under a week. read more

I was really looking forward to quality, custom curtains to arrive by the projected finish of our remodel (three bedrooms and a kitchen). Due to a problem that required a redo (detailed reason not provided) the final delivery took three months from order to delivery. It was clear Calico has no control over schedule so I had to conclude this was shopped out - most likely overseas. I might have been inclined to give Calico a pass if the final result was outstanding, but here I most disappointed - poorly matched patterns where fabric joined, uneven and overlapping gathers, flaws/catches in expensive designer fabric. The curtains appear to be done in a hurry by someone with low skill. For our living room curtains we'll be going with a local individual/firm. read more

I worked with Calico to complete a number of window treatments - motorized Somfi drapes in my living room, Kirsch honeycomb shades in 4 huge windows, Kirsch shades for a set of french doors, and 2 decorative cornices. I had a blast picking out fabrics (everything in that store was beautiful) and getting lots of different advice and ideas from Serrina. Serrina also come to my home and helped me decide what to do with all my odd transom windows, in addition to bringing additional fabric samples. I did all my own measuring, but I paid for very fast installation (which seemed incredibly easy). Calico is definitely not the cheapest option, but I believe you get what you pay for. read more

I recently ordered some very expensive window treatments and was very unhappy with the final results. I called the store to talk to the young woman who had helped me and was appauled by her lack of understanding. I had to tell her that at the very least she should say she was sorry. I did not expect a refund but did expect some understanding. I asked her to please let the manager know about my call. The manager made no attempt to contact me. I do not recommend that you let anyone there overpower you . The girl that helped me treated me like a child and was very bossy. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. I also do not feel the quality of the workmanship is very good. I will say that there are a few older women there that who are wonderful and very respectful. Ruth is the one person's name I can remember.(she was wonderful!) I did not pick the right consultant. Pick someone mature who listens to your needs. read more

I have been a customer of Calico Corners, 1410 Saratoga Ave. for 27 years. The designers have helped me create beautiful window coverings and upholstery for my house twice and two vacation homes. The designers were helpful in color schemes and style for my particular projects. At one time, the designers were able to purchase a particular bolt of fabric not stocked in the store specially for me! I love Calico Corners and come by ever so often to see what is new ! read more

I have been dealing with this store since 2001 and so far I have done 3 houses and every time, they do a better job. Their service is outstanding, the fabrics are beautiful and for the quality the prices are excellent, expect to pay double somewhere else, for instance the design center or Britex, I am talking to the people that want quality, and great service. I have done everything with them and the quality of the product is outstanding. I would recommend them, use them if you like quality. read more

I came here to get the glider in my nursery recovered as it was an ugly blue. I had 4 simple pieces on the glider. I chose my fabric, 30% off. Sounded like a deal and then she gave me the quote. $745.00!!! I was so irritated I wasted my time there. The pricing is so outrageous. Surprised this place is still in business.
