First I want to start off by saying I come here whenever I don't feel like driving down to the bank I never had any issues. Today Jaunita helped me I can tell she's a new worker so I tried to be patient. She asks me three times what the check was for and I kept telling her work. After 5 more minutes of her playing around on the computer ,she then went to the back to question them but it sounded more like didn't believe me. I'm in pjs. A black woman. Okay sure you may not believe I work for the government. She begins telling them about my check history. This is the worst California check cashing store ever. I called ahead of time and asked about the specific details of the requirements to cash a rather large check. And they assured me they would be able to cash it. I sat there and filled out all of the paperwork and answered all of their questions I was there for almost two hours they counted out my money and everything and then at the last minute, after they already verified the check, they said they couldn't cash it because it was too old. I called ahead of time and made sure they would be able to cash a check that was from December. They assured me that the check was only 3 months old and that those type of checks are good for a year. Slow, slow, slow, did I say slow? Almost a dozen windows and only two people servicing them. Came here numerous times for western union cash out and 1/3 of the time they give you we are short on cash can you come back? Why the hell go into business when you are short on cash? Unbelievable that I had to wait half an hour just to be disappointed. Their employees are sluggish to the point a quick transaction is like being stuck in traffic caused by an old lady who can't see on the road. California Check Cashing will charge you two fees for your loan. There should only be one fee and that is for the service. Also, I keep setting up an ACH but they will not put it through. Next thing I know I'm getting a phone call saying I missed a payment. Do not offer an ACH if it isn't available! read more

The most disgusting mistreatment of a customer is what I experienced tonight on Jan 4th from 7:37pm-7:58 when trying to cash a 2k check that I received as a Christmas gift from my own family. I was recommended this business by a friend who often cashes their checks here when their bank is closed. I came to make it simpler. I was wrong. Don't step foot in this business. When I came everything appeared normal. I was asked of my ID/License, and my phone number, but then they asked for my social security number, my home address, and my email address. I was questioned why it I waited from December 25th (Christmas) until January 4th. I responded that I hadnt felt like depositing it yet, and that I was simply home with my child during that week. The cashier rushed over to her boss which was a short Hispanic woman who decides to pull her to the side and whisper to her where I can clearly see them. The cashier comes back to me, and says that she needs a photograph of my face from their camera, and the phone number and information of the person who issued me the check in order to confirm it. I complied to all of this with no issue or objection. It was taking around 20 minutes by this point of me giving every piece of personal document information that I own. It still is not enough somehow. I am asked to provide and fill out a list of references and include their personal information just to cash my check. At this point I am overwhelmed by how complicated they have made things for me, and the distrust they were displaying. At this point I has requested to have my Check, ID/License, and Social returned to me, so that I can take them to my bank instead. They refused, and held it hostage behind the glass while leaving me idle waiting for my belongings. The cashier left me there without returning my belongings, and ignored me to take customer calls, and avoid me. The short Hispanic woman was the boss supposedly. She was extremely rude to me about returning my things. She started very rudely (while sighing) to explain what more they needed from me to cash the check. I, again, ask to simply have my things returned. The man behind me in line tells me that they are acting like I stole the check. The cashier (a slightly bigger hispanic woman) gets very upset and shouts at the other customer "we don't think it's stolen" repeatedly. At this point I was ready to call the police to have my personal documents, and check returned to me. The cashier apologizes to me, and says she is only doing her job. I don't know what kind of business operates in a manner of such disrespect and possible theft, but I truly hope that my review detours anyone else thinking of cashing their checks here. It was a very horrible experience for me. I was possibly profiled despite giving all the information required of me, and beyond more. I have used other check cashing businesses to cash my checks with no trouble at all. My check was written on a bank check-book from a family member with my same lastname, and 85 is stated clearly on my check that it was a Christmas Gift. I do business online with them. I always pay before they automatically withdraw the money and then I reloan right after I pay. I did my usual payoff and reloan on Dec 1st, 2023 early morning. The next day I checked my bank account and it shows that I not only paid the $300 but they also took another $300 later on. I always check my bank account before and after I pay my cash advance and there was only one $300 to them all day on the 1st. Now I don't have enough money in my bank account for my rent to clear and also my Mariner Finance payment to clear tomorrow Monday the 4th. I CAN'T AFFORD ANY FEES FOR MY PAYMENTS NOT CLEARING!!!!! I have been coming to this specific store for over a year now, because I was hacked and as the detective said, I was "hacked good". I have FINALLY gotten my direct deposit back - we hope -, and so when I went in with what I hope will be my last paper check a few days ago, I made it a point to thank and tell some of the workers there bye. I have usually gotten Shaima and/or Yuliza through this situation, and both women are always very, very polite and helpful to me; I have slight Parkinson's, and Yuliza and Shaima have always been more than helpful with me on perforating my checks, waiting for my signature - I'm really going to miss them. I actually hope that I have a reason for a money order or Western Union in the future because, yep, I will go back to this location. The lines may move slow and every now and then a customer loses their mind behind whatever the COMPUTER tells the associates. However they are work and doing their jobs. I feel like all California Cash Checking places are really slow. But the group at this location, is extremely un-necessarily slow. Something as little as cashing a check, even if you've been to this location several times, can take hours. No joke! It's as if you are trying to finance a house, the amount of information & documentation that they want from you. My closest credit union is in Oakland & Vallejo, but I live across the street from this location. I've learned that it is quicker to go there, than to try to come here and do something as simple as cashing a check. Spent 30 minutes trying to cash my paycheck with the lady I'm guessing is Indian and has mild Parkinson's. She told me the check and stub didn't match (they both did) after inspecting it for 10 minutes then proceeded to call my job after hours asking the receptionist who just started and doesn't even know me if I worked there with me telling her the whole time the girl is new and being ignored. The absolute worst. It took 45 minutes for me to get a money order. They only had two people working at the windows even though there was a long line. At one point the two parties who were standing at the windows apparently had some major issue with whatever their transaction was and the person helping them had no idea what to do or how to do it, so they single-handedly took almost half an hour just to help them. If the manager of this place had more than one working brain cell they would have noticed the problem and put another worker or two at the windows when it became obvious the line was stopped cold because of the transaction problems, but obviously the manager at this place is too much of an idiot to actually do something like that. The service was so pathetically slow that people who were waiting in the line actually gave up and left saying they were on their lunch hour and couldn't wait anymore. This complete lack of customer concern on behalf of this business is totally inexcusable. I will never go to this place again, and if you go there after reading this review and you get stuck like we did don't say you weren't warned about it. read more

So I have two checks amounting to $500.00 I head into California check Cashing Wednesday evening on Willow Pass Rd. I go to the next available window clerk, an older woman with a snooty attitude. I have my ID and signed checks ready so I hand these off under the 2" thick glass to this woman for cashing. She takes them and on her computer she attempts to bring up my account. And while doing this she asks if I had been here before. I said yes many times. She doesn't find me right away and immediately cops an attitude and looks at me like I'm a liar or something. Then she runs my driver's license through the machine on her desk and finds my account/transactions of over 10 years. With her feathers now ruffled she begins interviewing me on the contact information that I supplied years ago. First she asked if my telephone number had changed so I updated my telephone number. When she asked for my current address I told her it hadn't changed and I had to remind her that she already had my current driver's license in her hand. Then she wanted to know if I still intended to use the same references of people and if their telephone numbers had changed. Then she starts naming them. That's when I said I'm here to cash 2 checks not get interviewed by you. She went on to say that she was only updating my records. I told her to mail me something; I'll fill it out and send it back. I didn't have time for anymore questions. I told her to please just give me back my stuff so I can go elsewhere and cash these checks. She actually acted like she did not hear me and continued inquiring on. So again I said I'll take my checks and I.D. back. She finally gave them back to me but not before curtly asking me if I wanted her to complete my transaction, I left there and went to Californian Check cashing on Monument Blvd. and that woman is very sharp. She didn't interrogate me and I was out of there quickly. That Woman could teach the other Woman a few things about customer service read more

Terrible place to do bussiness with. First off, as I walked in nobody greeted me. I went to cash a check as I normally do via different location. Gave her ID and everything neccessary. She was rude as i felt racially profiled against. Then she verified the check through my job & bank. They verified me. They scan my information. Then, she tells me they can't cash it. Reason being is I don't have a bank account. By the way I've never heard this before. So I ask for my info. they scanned. The employee refused without reason. I felt this was shady. I ask why, she tells me that's policy. As I persisted the Manger threated to call the police.This store racially profiled me while being very rude, incompetent, without information. About 9 months ago I took a payday advance from CCC and when it came time to repay, I was a day late so they put my check through the bank. I came in to pay and they told me not to worry about paying cash because it would go from my bank and I should just go deposit the cash. I tried to tell them it was too late to make a deposit in time but they said it would be ok. So 9 months and $35 later I try to get an advance. They held me up for TWO HOURS while I jumped through hoops to get the documents they asked for. All just to be told that I couldn't get an advance because the check from nine months ago was returned NSF. Talk about irresponsible.
