It tuns out there was a street fair closing Folsom St. I decided to find another smog shop that opens at 8 am. I found Auto Stop and called them and got the price for a smog test. Service is not first come first served and appointments are recommended. I went online and made an 8 am appointment. On the appointed day I got there at 7 am (I'm always early) and waited. About 7:40 am I heard the roll up doors going up. I got out and told the guy opening the doors that I was there for a smog test. He told me that he would smog my car right away and that it wouldn't take long. I handed him my keys and he did the rest. \ I sat on a chair in the office area while the test was performed. The test took about 7 minutes and at 7:50 am I was on my way home. It doesn't get any better than this. The technician was friendly, courteous and professional. If I'm still around in 2028, I will return to Auto Stop and have them smog my car.

I was very wary of this place at first, I'm not sure why. The owner is a very nice, to-the-point gentleman who says what he means and means what he says. Rather than over-promise, he was honest with me about when they would have enough time to work on my car. The work they did was very professional, and he charged me exactly what he had quoted me upfront, so there wasn't that usual confusion when you look at your bill and try to figure out whether it's worth arguing about any of the little charges. They have very little physical space, so you should be prepared to pick up your car as soon as it's done. Because of work, I couldn't come right when my car was ready, so I was a little bit surprised when I arrived to pay and the owner told me that my car was parked around the corner on Vermont Street. I get it; they don't have much space, but I had just had my catalytic converter stolen for the fourth time, and there are just some places, like that desolate stretch of Vermont Street, that I wouldn't park my car even temporarily under normal circumstances, let alone have it sitting there unattended for a few hours.

They quoted me $155 (out of pocket, without insurance), which sounded fair and honestly unbelievable at first for SF, but I went with it. My sister picked me up from the shop during the install and when she dropped me off she mentioned that she needed her windshield replaced. She got a quote, processed through insurance and replaced the next day. When I get to my car, they had cleaned all of the glass from the seats, cupholders and carpet. They restored my car back and honestly made my crappy day better, quickly. This is not my first window replacement, unfortunately... I have had it happen a few times before, but now I will always call and recommend In & Out Auto Glass. Not only are they the best deal in town for window replacement (insurance or without), but they are fast and will get you back in your wheels again.

I've been meaning to write this review for a long time…read more My Ford F-150 Lightning was involved in an accident that caused significant damage to the front end. The bumper was torn apart, the headlight assembly and surrounding bodywork were heavily damaged, and the front corner of the truck was basically ripped open. Looking at it immediately after the accident, it was pretty painful to see. They brought it completely back to life. What impressed me most was that this wasn't a simple vehicle or a simple repair. The F-150 Lightning is a sophisticated EV with cameras, sensors, electronics, lighting systems, and driver-assistance equipment integrated throughout the front of the truck. I wanted the repair handled by someone who understood that putting a vehicle like this back together correctly involves a lot more than replacing a bumper and matching the paint. The entire process ended up taking about six weeks, largely because of parts shortages and delays getting components from Ford. Throughout that time, the shop was easy to work with, communicated with me, and handled the insurance side of the repair so I wasn't stuck trying to coordinate everything myself. When parts were delayed, they worked through it rather than cutting corners just to get the truck out the door faster. And the end result speaks for itself. You would never know from looking at the truck today what that front corner looked like after the accident. The body panels line up properly, the bumper and trim look right, the lighting was restored, the paint matches beautifully, and the entire front end looks like it did before the accident. After seeing how badly damaged the truck was, getting it back looking this good was honestly remarkable. If you need ordinary body work, I'm sure they can handle it. But where I would especially recommend this shop is if you have a newer or more sophisticated vehicle--particularly an EV--with significant collision damage and you want someone you can trust to put it back together correctly. My F-150 Lightning went in looking wrecked and came back looking like my truck again. I couldn't ask for much more than that. Long overdue five-star review. Highly recommended.
