I enjoyed my visit and ordered the Dynamite shrimp and street corn appetizers, jimbayla and a pizza which was half the works and half bbq chicken(additional cost of $2.50). The appetizers were delicious and the jimbayla grows on you...it gets better as you keep eating! I didnt really care much for the pizza, but if i had to choose, the works was better because it was less sweet. I also enjoyed a cake flight which was delicious! The classic, and bacon maple were my favorite! The chocolate could have been better. Service was good and overall my experience was pleasant! We enjoyed our dinner at California Pizza Kitchen on Birch Street in Chula Vista, CA the Otay Ranch location. The service was excellent and restaurant was very clean when we go there. I'm a fan of their Chicken Thai Pizza in peanut sauce with cauliflower crust. That's always my go to. I like that they have a new lower calorie menu. I decided to add the zucchini shrimp pasta in lemon with garlic and wine sauce. It was delicious but wished it had more seasoning. We split an upside cheesecake not on the lower calorie menu but it was very good. For chain restaurant, I'd give overall experience and food 4.5/5 stars. I take it back. I came here after work to have a nice happy hour meal, and for $9ish, I had this really awesome shrimp appetizer along with a desert. The server at the bar was incredible with suggesting a new item on the menu, and that was a really awesome pairing. I was not asked by management to give them another chance or offered a compensatory meal, so this was all of my own accord. I realized too that the workers are all just trying to make it too. Came here for the first time in 8 years yesterday, the food and service was amazing, the only reason why I'm giving it 3 starts is because the men's restroom was DISGUSTING, trash everywhere , just horrible, and it was not even busy, there was like 4 servers just sitting down talking, it's like they don't do restroom checks, went back to my table and was a bit grossed out and lost my appetite.. server gets the 5 starts tho, he was amazing.. The food is quite good and comes out freshly prepared. Service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere is casual/work friendly. This place has been around for many years! My daughter had a birthday party here 10 years ago(?), complete with her own name engraved Chef's coat and tour of the kitchen, ending with each guest creating their own pizza and topping it off with ice cream and cake! A very memorable birthday indeed. Now, the teens absolutely love the avocado egg rolls. It's an appetizer but they love it as a meal. I am officially in love with this California Pizza Kitchen! The outdoor patio seating is absolutely perfect, surrounded by shops, a gorgeous wall centerpiece, and even a movie theater right there. The whole area feels like the cutest little escape in Chula Vista, and it's so convenient right off the freeway. The food was incredible. We ordered the mac & cheese and the burger, and both were to die for. I also love the little touches--like the complimentary bread and butter (simple but makes me so happy) and the fact that they even brought out ice cream and a water bowl for my dog. My pup was living his best life right alongside me. The staff went above and beyond. We came on a Saturday night and the service was so fast, friendly, and on point. Last night, a bunch of us went to California pizza to celebrate two birthdays. We had so much fun, but I have to give a shout out to our great waiter Jordan.. He was so helpful,caring and just fun fun fun. He knew about the menu and really shared some information with us before we made our choices. They have a great Happy with food and a various amount of alcohol. This was very reasonable. The service was a delight. He waited on us constantly and made sure we were well taken care of. William my waiter was so nice and sweet. It was a full house and was still very attentive towards everyone. I had a scratch off that was part of their promotion and got 20% off my menu. Dined in on a Friday afternoon during happy hour and we were greeted by a nasty, sewer-like smell at the front of the restaurant. Luckily, the hostess came over quickly to seat us and the smell disappeared. Still, it was stomach-turning and unappetizing to walk in and smell that as we were about to eat. The food was great. Weekdays from 3-6pm (I'm unsure about the time), their starters are half off and a 7 inch pizza and beer is $9. Our waitress subbed the beer out for a soda for me, and the pizza was amazing! Let me start by commending the servers here especially to Lesly! She makes sure she'll passby our table to say hi to us even if she's not the assigned waitress to us. But tonight, luckily she's the one assigned to us. Looks like the kitchen has issues going on, they run out of the pumpkin cheesecake and their deep fryer ur not working thus can't serve the potato wedge, but despite of that, as i've said the customer service is excellent, I can't get to get mad... lol. First, I got to say the service was quick. From getting seated to receiving what I ordered, there was no time wasted. Service was absolutely amazing, thanks Rob! The pizza was thin, but surprisingly not crunchy. It gave more of a doughy texture to it. The mushroom, pepperoni, and sausage combination was very interesting, it meshed really well. 9/1/24 update 5pm We had eaten here a few times recently and had better staff and food than our first visit. Ordering 2 meals, and 2 plates of bread we were not as full as we should have been for $45+. Today we walked in after a movie and was told 20 minutes to be seated. I looked around and there were way more empty tables than full. The bench inside and out were both occupied. I use a cane and my son is disabled and would prefer to sit rather then stand for waiting. So we walked next door and found excellent pizza, about 2x the weight of here as the crust wasn't paper thin and lots of cheese.... And a lower price and higher quality. I'd had assumed a place with Pizza in it's name would have quality pizza. So we found our new spot and am much more full with ordering the same items, and no bread as filler. Best of luck CA Pizza Kitchen. How do you offer a thin crust when your regular crust is already paper thin??? You should really have a regular crust as an option, as your standard crust is already a thin crust. The last 3 visits we did eat in, the staff were wonderful. I was pleasantly surprised by CPK! We arrived and put our names on the list, and had a short wait before we were seated. Our food came out fresh and hot out the oven! I wanted to try something new and the spicy honey bee focaccia looked delicious so we decided to give it a try and WOWWW, it was definitely our favorite thing we ordered. I didn't really feel it was spicy, but it was a burst of flavor when you bite it! It is a different take on pizza and has a sweet taste. The Thai Crunch salad was refreshing and not heavy even with the dressing. Chicken tequila fettuccine was also a fresh option. The sauce isn't creamy so it didn't feel like a heavy meal. I used Uber Eats to order a pizza from here and didn't expect lightening fast service by any means. 88 full minutes later, after the driver had been waiting for well over 30 minutes to pick up the order, CPK gives the order to the driver. It arrived extremely cold and congealed as it clearly hadn't been sitting under a heat lamp since it came out of the oven, god knows when. Driver was great, but would never order from this specific location again. Don't know what actually happened, but just completely careless management from start to finish. Following a day of shopping my Dad wanted food from his favorite chain restaurant. After some searching I found this place and we headed there for dinner. The dining room was primarily filled with families and they were only seating ppl on one side of the restaurant making it seem a bit more crowded than it actually was. While getting into the booth I was scratched by a piece of metal sticking out of the side of the cushion. We let the server know and we moved to a table. Eventually someone came out and clipped the metal. After looking over the menu we ordered and my dad was a bit disappointed because they took his favorite pizza of the menu. We had the spinach artichoke dip and while good, we realized it was a bit salty. I ordered a beer and had to wait a good while and only after asking, I was told that they were changing out the tap. I had a burger that I enjoyed and my dad ate a few piece of his veggie pizza(the large pieces of broccoli were a bit much). Been living In the area since 2012 and decided last minute to check this place out after watching a movie with the kiddos. I always assumed it was just thin crust pizza, reason why I never went but I was wrong. The menu is never extensive and everything looked good! Meagan our waitress was such a sweetheart, very attentive and really seemed to enjoy what she was doing. The lettuce wraps, chicken dumplings and dynamite chicken were delicious! Kids menu was good and they enjoyed their salad, Mac n cheese, butter noodles and mini pizza. Wife enjoyed a refreshing sangria and I some IPAs. We had some kind of Italian cheese pizza with tomato and parsley and a Hawaiian one. I was looking for the Carmel Mountain Ranch location and didn't see it here but this was the location I tried. I took my sister out to lunch at this location because I have always enjoyed CPK. It was a little past 12:30 p.m, and I walked in the door and asked to be seated as my sister had not arrived yet. I observed the woman at the front desk was not very warm and welcoming. She did not say hello to me right upon walking in the door. I asked her for a booth for two people. She said it would be a little bit of a wait so the table could be cleaned. I waited about five minutes before they called my name. After being seated, ii had to wait again for a server to be of assistance to take orders. After waiting approximately 5 to 10 minutes, i flagged down a waitress to have orders taken. Once I was able to get one over to the table, my sister came walking in the door. We had ordered to start with the Guacamole with chips appetizer. It was fabulous. Then we both decided to order from the lunch menu. I had ordered a half of a chicken sandwich with a side Thai chicken salad. The food was outstanding. I was so hungry i forgot to take a photo of my lunch entree! The waitress made up for the fact I had to flag her down to take our orders as time was not on my sister and my side because she had to go back to work. I gave this place 4 Stars because the service needs improvement. A customer should not have to scout around for a waiter or waitress to have their order taken ever. It is at all no secret that i love CPK. The consistent delivery of quality drinks and meals speaks volumes. However this shout out goes specifically to the bar. The bartenders were kind and attentive. We struck a great balance of being able to engage each other in great conversation while also not talking TOO much. Balance is key and they have their formula down to a science. I'm extremely excited for my next trip to this specific COK Venus, despite the fact that I went today for lunch. I'm also excited to explore their non pizza dishes a bit more. I give CPK two thumbs way up high! read more
