I know it's called California Pizza Kitchen but they have my all time favorite salad. The bbq chicken salad here has maintained his number 1 status for 15 years in my book. After returning the the area I recently made the connection that this salad could return to my life and let me tell you I felt complete again. I guess I follow a bbq theme here because the bbq pizza is also my favorite. And their honey wheat crust is super underrated. Don't forget the butter cake for dessert - yes it's that good. I love CPK carry out and rewards. They make is super easy to place an order and pick up. In all my years of ordering here, they do a great job at making sure your order is correct. I'm giving four stars because as much as I love this place there was room for improvement. I came in to get my order and snag an espresso martini before heading out. Service was attentive but slow and it took a bit to receive my drink. Martini had large ice chunks in it anddd I shouldn't have to explain further. I went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch with a friend on a Tuesday. When we arrived, shortly after opening, we were the first people there. Our meal started with complementary bread and olive oil. I had the fresh strawberry mango cooler to drink. This was a great beverage. It had fruity flavors and the Fresca soda in it added a fizzy texture to it. I got the lunch combo of the lunch size original BBQ chicken pizza and tomato bisque soup. This was the perfect size for lunch. I always feel like I get a good deal for my money when I order off of their lunch combo menu. I left with an order of chips and guacamole because I was told at the end of the meal that I had a free appetizer that was expiring in one week. Nothing special, one person in party said the salmon salad was just okay, my pizza (Chicken BBQ) was just okay, service was fine but we had 6 large men in our party and they wouldn't pull two table together so we could sit at a table. I used to come here all the time with my friends. They used to make great pasta and bread. The last three times, however, we've noticed a very bad odor. I thought it was just a one-time thing, but it's clearly not. What's worse is that their pasta (fettuccine with cream sauce) is now unforgivably DRY. The family and I enjoy a visit to CPK every now and then when we crave for some original and unique pizza flavors and pastas. CPK had an awesome Valentine's dinner for two this week and I heard it was back from prior year. You can choose form 2 options of $40 or $50 and it comes with an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert for just $40. We had fresh white corn guacamole, BBQ Chicken pizza, a surprisingly delicious Chicken Tequila Fettuccine (that was as good as its name which we devoured before I remember to take any foodie photos), and ended with savory Butter cake. The Chicken Tequila Fettuccine is one that was new to us and it was SO delicious! The lime/lemon flavor mixed in with a special cream sauce they had really made the dish. It had such a unique flavor for a pasta dish and my husband and I shared it and scooped up every bite. It dominated the pizza and we only wish the portion was bigger. Since we tried it as a special package it was a a great deal since normally it is $20+ so I'm not sure if then the sizes would be bigger or not. Next time we are back, we would definitely order this pasta again. The white corn guacamole was freshly made and good but could have use a bit of salt so we asked for some. The butter cake was good but a bit plain and seem to flop in the middle as you can see from the photo. It was still a decent & moist cake and we finished it all. We got my favorite go-to BBQ Chicken Pizza which was good on a thin crust. It could use a but more chicken and onions, I felt like the ingredients on it was a bit on the slim side. However, given the deal of $40 special, this was a value meal. On its own, I would say these meals are a bit overpriced for the portions. You can sign up to be a rewards member and earn points when you dine which I think is a nice perk as they seem to have specials or promos often. Tip: they don't take reservations here so you want to account for that when you come and arrive ahead with your party. On this Valentine's night we were quoted 45 minutes but was taken in after 25 minutes which was great. A lot of tables were available but we could tell they were a bit short on staff. I went to have lunch yesterday at California Pizza in Schaumburg with my cousin, and in the middle of our meal, a woman suddenly jumped out of her chair -- because a rat was trying to climb up her leg! ‍ And it wasn't just one rat -- there were two black rats, a mother and her baby! The worst part? The woman and her daughter hadn't even started eating yet, but they still had to pay for their food before leaving. Unbelievable! The staff did not even apologize. One of the employees trapped the rats in a garbage can in front of us. I was so shocked that I couldn't even record anything. My cousin was so terrified that she climbed onto the chair out of fear! This was a truly disgusting and scary experience. I really hope the health department gets involved and the restaurant does something immediately about this infestation. Totally unacceptable. Honestly, I haven't been to CPK in FOREVER. My friend and I decided to stop here for some food after we went shopping at the mall across the street. We came in on a Wednesday night (7 pm), there were a ton of open tables and we got seated immediately. We were so excited for the complimentary bread with olive oil - it was just how we remembered it, warm and delicious! Our server was super nice and accommodating, as well. We ordered the Works pizza and the California Club. We liked the California Club better - the bacon, chicken, and arugula and salad mixed with a dressing on top was delicious! The Works was good, but a bit flimsy. Lots of the ingredients would fall off both pizzas. The humidity and the heat from their oven was stifling. We complained about the heat and they shrugged and said it's 72. Meanwhile everyone is flushed in the face with the heat. Neglecting to do this can lead to a spread of illness or cross contamination. We've frequented the Schaumburg location for over 10 years now so it's very sad we won't be returning. The location suffers from poor awareness of food safety regulations and lack of training or enforcement of handwashing policies. We dined in on 1/10/24 and ordered pastas and pizzas with one being gluten-free for a child. As we waited, we observed the person responsible for making the pizzas at the pizza station scrolling through his large phone not once but twice and neglected to wash his hands when he resumed preparing pizzas. He simply placed his phone in a nook near the pizza oven, opened a bin and grabbed raw dough and began to stretch it and add ingredients to it, seemingly including his phone germs! We noticed the server who had rubbed her upper lip and nose not wash her hands ..but proceed to grab scallions and sprinkle it on a ready-to-eat plate. Did not wash her hands, use gloves or appropriate utensil. Again, never saw anything like this in previous visits. After informing the server of this and canceling our pizzas, she simply said the manager will pass on the comment. The manager never approached our table. So, all in all just wanted to warn others, especially those who may have sensitivities to stay away. If you do, keep a watchful eye and request Manny as your server. Sadly, this location has lost a longtime customer and I hope they get it together for the safety of those who dine here. read more

The establishment was big with plenty of parking spaces. As we went past lunch time on a weekend, there was not much of a crowd and only one side of the restaurant was almost full. So, I went up to the counter and asked for a booth which was available. The place was bright with a lot of ventilation and lights. The server handed us the menu and there were a lot of different pages for each meal course with a wide variety of food. I thought this place was only dedicated to pizza, but they had starters, salads, soups, pastas, and desserts. Obviously, the focus is on the pizza. This is ideal because of the way everything is laid out in a detailed manner. Every dish is marked with a sign which says Vegetarian or Made with No Gluten-containing ingredients which helps us pick our dish faster and easier. As we were looking through the menu, the server brought us water and complimentary bread with olive oil on the side. The bread was hard but later we got warm soft bread upon request. Neapolitan Burrata Pizza This was again a Cauliflower Crust Pizza which tasted like a regular Burrata Pizza. The main toppings were tomatoes and basil leaves. I liked this pizza better than the above one. I was looking forward to trying these Pizzas, but they tasted alright. I would say neutral in taste. At least, I got to taste the Cauliflower Crust pizza. SWEET TREATS Butter Cake - RECOMMENDED This dish was an icing on our lunch. For dessert, we ordered Butter Cake. On the menu, it said "Trust us...just try it." This was true because the cake looked mouthwatering. It was served warm with whipped ice cream and vanilla ice cream. The bend of cold vanilla ice cream and warm cake made this dish WOW! WOW WOW WOW If I go back again, this dish is necessary in my order. The ambience was good, the staff person was patient and good. The service was decent. As the focus is on the Pizza so I would say the pizzas tasted okay. Maybe adding some spicy pizza to the menu would be good. The prices are a little on the high end, but it was okay to try it occasionally. I haven't been to a California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) in probably over a decade. So it's been awhile. I forgot how tasty and creative CPK can be with their pizzas. CPK doesn't just have pizzas though; they got some delicious appetizers, salads, and desserts too. I went with the white corn guacamole and chips for the appetizer. The guac consisted of diced avocado, corn, black beans, bell peppers, fresh cilantro and serrano peppers. I never had guac with corn before, and I honestly rather have my guac corn-less, but nonetheless, it was good. It came with some blue & white corn tortilla chips, which was tasty. I wish the portion of the guac was more, but it got the job done. For the main entree, I went with the Santa Fe protein bowl. It consisted of cilantro and spinach topped with lime chicken, tomatoes, sweet corn, black beans, red cabbage, fresh avocado, and peppers. It came with some ranch, which I asked for on the side. It was surprisingly good, especially for a salad. Knowing that just a salad wouldn't do me any good, I also ordered the roasted garlic chicken pizza. I love garlic! This pizza had caramelized onions, fresh Mozzarella, Parmesan, slivered scallions and cracked black pepper. The crust was just the perfect doughiness, and I loved it. That pizza went down, Charlie Brown. Service was really good! We came 20 people strong on a Sunday afternoon and were accommodated really well. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw some newness to the menu!!! A veggie pizza that was amazing! One of the best veggie pizzas I've had (as a vegan). My son (who is 7) had a pizza with....their bbq chicken salad! He's never had salad before n he LOVED it so much he asked "can we come back here tmro for lunch?" I've been a regular for a long time. Came in with my wife Friday night. We were treated very rudely by the hostess upfront. She rushed over to the table dropped off two menus ; we could hardly keep up. Walked away well before we got to the table. The waiter didn't even know we were there , because the hostess didn't notify him. Then as I watched she did that to every customer, as if the customers were an interruption for wanting to spend money at CPK! Ordered the lemon chicken with pasta dish. That was also a disappointment. The chicken tasted like rubber with no flavor at all. Pasta was mediocre. But the biggest issue was the very rude hostess upfront. That's the first impression to the customers. CPK should be concerned. read more

Food was great as well as the service. Our server Rosario was awesome! He made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us to make sure we were enjoying the food, as well as refilling our drinks as needed. Recommend this location and server! read more
