Had a dinner date night here. It was pretty packed and we had to wait about 10 mins. GF items are marked on the menu. They don't have many options but they have a cauliflower crust for their pizza. I let the server know I was celiac / gluten free. She was very knowledgeable and let me know everything would be made GF. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza and it came out with an allergy stick. The pizza and service were excellent. I also got the sangria sampler. The strawberry one was the best.

I went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch with a friend on a Tuesday. When we arrived, shortly after opening, we were the first people there. Our meal started with complementary bread and olive oil. I had the fresh strawberry mango cooler to drink. This was a great beverage. It had fruity flavors and the Fresca soda in it added a fizzy texture to it. I got the lunch combo of the lunch size original BBQ chicken pizza and tomato bisque soup. This was the perfect size for lunch. I always feel like I get a good deal for my money when I order off of their lunch combo menu. I left with an order of chips and guacamole because I was told at the end of the meal that I had a free appetizer that was expiring in one week. I feel that this could be changed to be notified about my appetizer earlier, but I had a good lunch the next day. I highly recommend California Pizza Kitchen!

The family and I enjoy a visit to CPK every now and then when we crave for some original and unique pizza flavors and pastas. CPK had an awesome Valentine's dinner for two this week and I heard it was back from prior year. You can choose form 2 options of $40 or $50 and it comes with an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert for just $40. We had fresh white corn guacamole, BBQ Chicken pizza, a surprisingly delicious Chicken Tequila Fettuccine (that was as good as its name which we devoured before I remember to take any foodie photos), and ended with savory Butter cake. The Chicken Tequila Fettuccine is one that was new to us and it was SO delicious! The lime/lemon flavor mixed in with a special cream sauce they had really made the dish. It had such a unique flavor for a pasta dish and my husband and I shared it and scooped up every bite. It dominated the pizza and we only wish the portion was bigger. Since we tried it as a special package it was a a great deal since normally it is $20+ so I'm not sure if then the sizes would be bigger or not. Next time we are back, we would definitely order this pasta again. The white corn guacamole was freshly made and good but could have use a bit of salt so we asked for some. The butter cake was good but a bit plain and seem to flop in the middle as you can see from the photo. It was still a decent & moist cake and we finished it all. We got my favorite go-to BBQ Chicken Pizza which was good on a thin crust. It could use a but more chicken and onions, I felt like the ingredients on it was a bit on the slim side. However, given the deal of $40 special, this was a value meal. On its own, I would say these meals are a bit overpriced for the portions. You can sign up to be a rewards member and earn points when you dine which I think is a nice perk as they seem to have specials or promos often. Tip: they don't take reservations here so you want to account for that when you come and arrive ahead with your party. On this Valentine's night we were quoted 45 minutes but was taken in after 25 minutes which was great. A lot of tables were available but we could tell they were a bit short on staff. Still, overall a good experience and enjoyable night.

Good clean food options. Service was good, restaurant was clean. Went in without a reservation and was seated right away. Salad was healthy and a good option but was also something I could easily have made at home. I did like the pizzas though! Yummy vegetables and the crust was really good. Loved the bread and olive oil thats complimentary.

tried out their new pizza on the menu and it was so good. they are not skimpy on the ingredients and our service was so good. the male waiter with the glasses should get a ride he knows how to treat customers well.

California Club, yummmmy. The Works is in the back.

Honestly, I haven't been to CPK in FOREVER. My friend and I decided to stop here for some food after we went shopping at the mall across the street. We came in on a Wednesday night (7 pm), there were a ton of open tables and we got seated immediately. We were so excited for the complimentary bread with olive oil - it was just how we remembered it, warm and delicious! Our server was super nice and accommodating, as well. We ordered the Works pizza and the California Club. We liked the California Club better - the bacon, chicken, and arugula and salad mixed with a dressing on top was delicious! The Works was good, but a bit flimsy. Lots of the ingredients would fall off both pizzas. Overall, CPK doesn't have some world-renowned pizza, but their pizza, appetizers, salads, and bread are all good enough for me to return. I liked this location, too!

TLDR: Service? What service we felt like we didn't get any or at least the bare minimum. Drink was empty from getting the food until we left. Super thirsty the whole meal. Pizza was decent same quality ingredients as normal, maybe slightly undercooked. Pasta was not worth it. Overall this is a good chain we do recommend, but maybe this location needs some new staff. In the 10 plus years I've visited this place, Geneva Commons has never failed me. Sorry Schaumburg location, I don't think we will be back for a while. Came in tonight after a long day at the Woodfield mall. It's Sunday about 6:30pm, they were decently busy but not packed. Table for 2 and we were able to get seated right away with a few tables around us that were empty. That's when things started to go down hill. After waiting the standard 5-10 mins our server came around to inquire about drinks. I just wanted water but my S/O was hoping for a cocktail, he asked about a blue hawaiian which was jot on the menu. The server seemed very confused and said she didn't think so, so I thought I would be helpful and ask if they kept blue curacao (the main staple), she looked at me confused and did a trailing off no as she walked away from our table, not asking if we wanted a different drink instead.... we assumed she was going to ask the bartender... about 5 mins later she comes back with 2 HALF pcs of bread and oil & 2 waters but said nothing on the alcohol drink we assumed her to have and asked about. She asked if we knew what we would like to order. Which we were able to place. Ok cool, bread was nice and crisp like normal but half a piece each? Seemed a bit skimpy. Food came out in a reasonable time. Thai chicken pizza was good. Not the best one I've had, middle seemed a bit undercooked but the flavors were all there. My S/O had pasta with added grilled chicken for $4. He said it was ok, but for the price and portion size he would have preferred getting the cheesecake factory. When the food was brought out his water was empty and he wanted some more bread for the pasta as well. We asked her for more which when brought out.... you guessed it more oil and 2 dinky half slices again.... now we know they can give more cause we literally watched other servers bring out a small plateful to their tables that asked for more before they even placed their orders! Water is still empty on S/O's end and our server not in sight... instead she is behind the bar making drinks and standing there. It confused us because she seemed to have no clue about the alcohol menu. But either way since the beginning of the meal to the end we never got checked back up on and thirsty as no one came by to refill waters or ask about how the meal was. Finally she came back and asked us about dessert at this point we are both irritable. Him being done a while ago and me with my plate off to the side. Asked for a box and check as we just wanted to get out of there and grab a drink else where and get service. They did seem to have lots of staff so lack of servers wasn't even an excuse for lack of service we got. On observation other tables were serviced much better when their server wasn't ours. We saw her a total of 3 times: Drinks order, food placed down, check given. We have never been more disappointed in CPK than we were today. Do we recommend yes, but maybe stay away from the pasta, and maybe another location or at least a different server....

    Customer service suspended site

Update: the response I got from customer service went to a suspended site. Hmm what does that tell you about their customer service? Just for show, doesn't really help customers. You want to feel the fires of hell? Go to this restaurant on a hot day. Today we went and although it almost 100 degrees outside, it doesn't feel like we even went inside. The humidity and the heat from their oven was stifling. We complained about the heat and they shrugged and said it's 72. Meanwhile everyone is flushed in the face with the heat. Plus the pizza weren't even crunchy, but chewy. Also, looks like there was one server for the whole restaurant, poor guy.

If you're a beer drinker, they have a massive selection on tap (about 90 taps--and no, that's not a typo!). They also have a large patio that looks like a great spot when the weather is nice. Inside, there's a good mix of low-tops, high-tops, banquettes, and booths. All the tabletops feature copper tops with wood trim, and exposure to water and food over time has given each table a unique patina. We arrived right as they were switching over from the brunch menu to dinner, and the staff made us feel very welcome. What We Ordered: Smoked Brisket Reuben Eggrolls: We ordered these special eggrolls for the table. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and since many traditional eggrolls contain shrimp, he was excited to try these. He said they were the best eggrolls he's ever had (though he admitted he doesn't eat them often!). He paired it with a Guinness Zero non-alcoholic draught and was amazed by how close it tasted to the original. Fish Tacos ($19): Recommended by another reviewer, these come with three cornmeal-battered, fried Mahi-Mahi tacos topped with cilantro lime cream and fresh micro cilantro. They were crispy and very tasty. If you're usually sensitive to cilantro, you might still enjoy these--I mostly tasted a bright, lemony freshness rather than heavy cilantro. Sides (Broccoli Rabe & Asparagus): I substituted chips for a vegetable side. Due to a mix-up in the kitchen, I got to try the broccoli rabe first, though it turned out way too spicy for anyone at our table. My actual order was asparagus--my absolute favorite--but it was a bit disappointing, as the bottom half of each stalk was woody and fibrous. Fish & Chips ($21.50): My friend went with this traditional entry. At that price point, he was expecting three fillets, but he couldn't finish the two that were served and took some home. Overall, a solid entrée. Classic Breakfast ($15.50): My husband got this from the brunch menu. He was very pleased with the scrambled eggs, potatoes, thick-sliced bacon, and sausage links. Overall, a solid visit with great variety on the menu!

If you read my Yelp on the original location, you'll learn I was quite impressed with the unique qualities of the bread and circuses therein. THIS store, however, is not a funky old Chitown corner tavern, repurposed into a brilliant resto as the original is. It has the appearance and feel of a corporate outpost with NONE of the intrinsic vibe and atmosphere of the paternal iteration. It's a big room, with an enclosed "patio" that had even less charm. One of the great things about the original is the non-exclusive yet cordial service, hinting at rough trade, yet somehow I believe this is a manufactured behavior, for fun. Kind of like if Ed Debevic was a hardcore outlaw biker. (IYKYK). The servers here were kind of cheerless, and aloof. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was yum. A wedge salad was next, and that too, was pretty tasty. So I started to think, "Ok this isn't the original Kuma's, but the Schaumburg audience is going to be a bit different than the Northside Hipsters". When you're aware of circumstances, attitudes change. Wife played it safe, eschewing all the ooga-booga burgers of the menu and just going for a regular burger, ketchup, mayo, tomato, onions, no cheese please. Cooked medium. I, however, remembered seeing someone on TeeVee having a "Plague Bringer" supposedly redolent of Garlic and fiercely chilli'ed. Right up my alley! I bid the Waitron to bring it with all speed. The burgers appeared shortly. Wife noticed the tomato on her plate had an unsavory black & grey area in its innards. obviously rotten. How the expediter ever let that get out of the Kitchen, I dont know. It was sent back an returned with an excuse it was a bit of olive that got mixed up with the tomato. I immediately checked the menu to see if they OFFERED anything, anywhere with black olives, and there wasn't anything there. I asked the same of the Waitron, and got the same answer. As wife didn't put the tomato on her burger, it was shuffled to the side. Wife said the burger was nothing special, And neither was my "PlagueBringer". The expected Garlic onslaught was nowhere to be found, neither was the anticipated chilli pepper sting. All I could taste were the french fried onions (the same ones you find on greenie beanie casseroles during your Grandmother's Thanksgiving dinner) heaped under the top pretzel bun hood. A segregated bite found the burger patties un-seasoned and not terribly tasty (both mine and Wife's burger). What a bummer. They gave a very small discount on the burger as an apology for the offending tomato slice. We don't go into restos with a defensive attitude. We HATE sending things back, and will only take a discount or comp if the kitchen or service ABSOLUTELY shit the bed. Wife had the queasies for the rest of the day thinking other vegetations on her burger (or the burger itself) had evidence of mishandling. Fortunately, there was no food sickness. Yes, there was heavy metal music playing very loudly throughout our visit, making conversation difficult, but I knew that would prolly be the case on the way in. The whole thing was disappointing. I was hot-to-trot about the original store and how they seemed they were taking a stand against any restaurant taking itself too seriously. It wouldn't surprise me to learn the folks who financed this outpost mandated some marketing fuck to whitewash the "Heavy Metal" concept, as seen in countless corporate restos based on a charming, small joint, and having none of its original DNA. Doug Sohn was so right to never franchise "Hot Doug's", lest the accountants make a pudding of his concept and vibe as they obviously did here with Kuma's I should have known when I walked in the front door and did not see a placard with the "house rules" nearby. It's a one star. The Old Fashioned and Salad weren't THAT good.

Izabella the bartender was a joy and made the experience top notch. She suggested I try the Halibut Piccata. So amazing and the broccolini that accompanied was out of this world. I travel quite frequently for business and dined alone many times. This spot made my dinner experience one of the best ever. Highly recommend if you're in the area or make the drive and check it out for yourself.

We had our choice between prosecco or blanc de blanc. We ordered one of each. I also got a passionfruit mojito mocktail. I informed the server I had celiac / gluten allergy. He seemed very knowledgeable. We shared the burrata. They unfortunately do not have GF bread but offer GF pasta. I had the GF penne alla vodka. The entree comes with your choice of salad or soup. I had the side salad with Italian dressing. The server indicated all dressings were GF. He said everything would be safe for me. My food was delicious. My friend had the GF chicken Alfredo. The cook at the omelette and carving station is top notch--he's very pleasant and efficient. My omelette which was chock full of fresh ingredients was cooked to perfection. The Prime Rib was a perfect rare and seasoned well. Their signature Parmesan Reggiano hash browns are a must have. The breakfast bread choices are fresh and very tasty. I'm not a big fan of cocktail sauce with shrimp, I make an exception for theirs. It is obviously homemade and has just the right amount of kick to it. The staff is courteous and efficient. The (female) manager was constantly on the go keeping an eye on the entire operation. The entire premises is immaculate, the bathrooms are very clean and fresh smelling. A friend took me to a buffet at one of their big name competitors--that place was way overpriced and the food wasn't as good. I'm sticking with GC for the weekend brunch, my family comes here on a regular basis

The server informed me that they were out of more than 70% of the beer listed on the beer menu. If that wasn't bad enough, it took our server about 15 minutes to bring the flight. We all enjoyed our lunch albeit very slow service. I feel it would only be fair to visit this establishment once again. Maybe it was just a bad day.
