Was staying at the hotel for a conference and came in here for a quick bite for lunch twice. Both times I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was! The first time I sat at the bar and had a Caesar salad with it crouton and with the NY strip medium rare on top. The romaine lettuce was fresh. The white anchovies were almost missed as they were hiding to one side. The steak had a lot of flavor and was cooked perfectly. The surprise was how well the pickled onions on top of it complimented the salad! The second time I sat at a table and had a burger. It was delicious!! I requested extra lettuce and not sure that happened. But the burger was cooked to perfection. I had the side salad instead of fries which was huge. Dressing was a little boring but it would be hard to outshine the burger. Service was good. read more

I'm giving this place three stars because the cappuccino and Ambiance was nice but the food wasn't . It was pretty dead here Memorial Day Monday but was still excited to try the food . We ordered both Benedict's the short rib and the classic . The short rib was so dry and the egg on top was hard boiled in the center . That's not how an egg Benedict should be . The door county mustard sauce was good but there was hardly any on it . The pickled onion was delicious but there was a scarce amount and the rainbow potatoes were burnt beyond repair . The lemon ricotta pancakes were dry and the blueberry mound on top was goop . Our server was pleasant but didn't come check in on us . Recommendation: get the homemade chips vs the fries. Fries were dry while the chips were well seasoned. Tip: they close from 11-11:30 between breakfast and lunch service. My flight to Chicago arrived in the late afternoon and so I found myself quite hungry upon checking into my hotel; the Renaissance Schaumburg. Schaumburg Public House is the main restaurant on site and was the only spot open at 3:30pm when I arrived. Their lunch menu mostly consisted of sandwiches, flatbreads and some appetizers. I chose to get a soup with sourdough bread ($8) as well as their chips and dip ($3). The chips and dip for $3 was quite the deal. It came with kettle style chips along with horseradish sauce. The salty chips were offset well with the tasty horseradish sauce. The soup of the day was a Chicken Noodle. This felt more like a tomato soup to me. It was ok but not necessarily something I would get again. This soup did come with two pieces of sourdough bread. I would have probably enjoyed some of their other dishes as thought the soup wasn't anything special. The chips and dip was my favorite for this meal. This doesn't quite say much but as mentioned one can't beat $3! read more

Update: my friend and I wanted to split the bill between two cards, simple enough. The waitress charged the entire bill on one card, then proceeded to do a credit and then bill both cards the correct amount. It has been 5 days (three business days) and still no credit. We have called the restaurant number and it is disconnected. We had to call the hotel and ask for a manager. The manager said they would send us an email and we have been waiting since Saturday for that email. Promote that chef and get new staff! read more

I stopped with a small group on a Sunday night, and unfortunately for the staff, they only had 2 people working, from what I could tell. Still, the bartender was good at making sure we were set on drinks. I had a burger to eat, and even though you could tell that it had been sitting a few minutes (due to staffing), it was still good. I waited to be seated for at least 8 minutes, mind you there was literally 6 other patrons already at the establishment. Like no one was there yet I had to wait to be seated. And the person that actually seated me wasn't even the host. Then once seated the waitress took a while to come take my order, I was too tired to even complain I just really wanted to eat and lie down. The food was well... similar to the service just okay. I wouldn't double back. I ordered the Crab cake sliders with fries and the Caesar salad. The crab cake itself was nasty. I did not like it at all. But the fries were delicious. Trendy, upscale yet casual restaurant connected to the Renaissance Hotel, I was pleasantly surprised with the Schaumburg Public House. I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel for a conference this past weekend and normally avoid hotel restaurants, given their stereotypical higher prices and underwhelming fare. The Schaumburg Public House I can safely say didn't check either of those boxes. With a large menu of affordably priced items, great service and great options it was a wonderful and convenient find. This is absolutely a five-star experience, no two-ways about it. We live near here so it's a hang-out that we frequent quite often and we've loved it every single time. To put it another way, we've never had less than a 5-star gastronomic encounter serviced by a 5-star wait staff. The food is outstanding hands-down. We are vegans who cheat with fish every once in a great while, but we cheat when we eat here because the salmon is some of the best in the entire Schaumburg area. I would put this salmon up against any of the best restaurants west of the city and we've tried them all. Because this is the restaurant of the convention center which, I'm sure, gets slammed a lot of the time with impatient customers who want to get in and out, it's probably challenging to find help who will put up with that, but in my opinion, and that of my wife's, they do a great job. We especially love the corn fritters which come with a sauce that is maple syrup with chipotle in it so it's got a tiny bite to it. Lovely! We go for the fried cauliflower as well, which is a specialty that they offer several different ways. The chef loves cauliflower and it shows! We'll continue to frequent this stellar five-star and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a half-empty restaurant that has tremendous food and service but with half the bustle and crowdedness of many other restaurants in the area. I must say this was a decent way to start off my stay in the CHI. The Waffles themselves were sweet and had great flavor. The chicken was cooked a bit too long, but it had great flavor. My server Malik went to bat for me to get the dish before lunchtime, so bonus points for amazing customer service. It's a lovely spacious restaurant in the Renaissance hotel. We enjoyed this restaurant. It has an excellent menu. You don't have to go far to get the meals you want if you stay at the hotel. I had the crab sliders, a veggie burger, avocado toast, and smoked fish with poached eggs, cauliflower, meatballs, and chicken wings, all on different days. Two best dishes from here: Avocado toast and crabmeat sliders! Great poached eggs alongside avocado! What could go wrong? Poached eggs came out perfect too. The crabmeat was lump crabmeat, so I got the best meat! I wasn't crazy about smoked trout. That's too dry. We had Ashanti and Christina waiting at our tables. Both waitresses are so lovely! After my meal, when I asked for a business center, Ashanti accommodated that she escorted me to show me the area where the business center is. read more

I was poking around to find a place to go with a friend. I honestly have to say that the the ambiance was good. The service was not the best it seemed like there was only one waitress. The food was pretty good. I have to say the dessert we got took a long time to get and it seemed like it wasn't cooked all the way through. Once we were seated by the host, the waitress never came to by to welcome us all she did was ask if we were ready to order only after maybe a minute of sitting down. Then when my friend and I wanted a few minutes to actually look at the menu she got annoyed. The food was very disappointing too. I'm a huge fan of Mariott and their restaurants are always great, but SPH was not. I ordered the grilled brisket and cheese sandwich and my friend got a baby kale salad. My sandwich was cold and the brisket was super fatty. My friend wanted to get some crushed red pepper for her salad but the waitress never came by to ask us how we were doing. I am in the hotel for a trade show, and went for an early dinner after traveling all day. The hostess, Mary, frowned when I told her that I was "One for dinner." She asked if I wanted to eat at the bar or a table...looking to the bar, which looked completely full and noisy, I requested a table. Another frown. She couldn't have been less welcoming. After studying her screen for some time, as if it was going to be hard to fit me in, she led me to a table in the darkest area with the most uncomfortable chairs. Literally, terrible service. I can totally understand and be compassionate to having only one server for a restaurant, I feel that's terrible planning on management, not the server. But she (Clecil) started polite, but both parties that order d said the coffee wasn't great. The minute the second person complained she huffed off, very upset. I'm here at the Renaissance for a wrk conference. After several flight delays, I got in late and was starving. I stopped in to the bar for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The beer and wine list is good. Service was quick and competent. The bison bacon meatballs were delicious, as was the spicy chipotle sauce for the corn fritters. Extremely disappointed in customer service and accountability of this restaurant. I made reservations for Mother's Day Brunch FOUR WEEKS IN ADVANCE (on 04/15/24) for 16 people. I then received a voicemail TEN days later (on 04/24) from Jennifer saying they could not accommodate us and hope to see us next year. WTH??!! When we called to clarify how we lost our reservation, we were told that my name and number was "found on a post-it note in the kitchen a few days ago but nobody fessed up to taking the information" so management just decided to dismiss us. We have guests coming from out of town, with hotel reservations, and no place to go for Mother's Day. So very frustrating and inconsiderate. read more

Came here to try something new. Did not realize it was a hotel restaurant until arriving, but that's okay. Main entrance is on the right side of the hotel and parking is free for restaurant visitors. Restaurant is on second floor. Very nice and spacious layout. We enjoyed our food as well. Servings were large, so the price tag matched and wasn't that bad. We had the smokey pork sliders and the smoked Millers amish half chicken for our entrees and both had leftovers. The Amish chicken was delicious, the apricot mustard glaze was great and the accompanying collard greens, grilled apple, and mustard spatzle went very well with it. Best chicken dish I've had in a while. They have rotating local beers on tap and I tried the coffee martini, which though very light on the booze for a martini, did still taste pretty good. Apparently the only people that actually get service here are either old or white. Extremely unprofessional, my husband and I waited 20 minutes watching other people get served before us, until we walked up to get someone, and when we did, they took and held our credit card. I don't understand what kind of a restaurant holds a credit card while you are dining in. Not busy, plenty of servers simply ignored us like we didn't belong or were in the wrong place. read more
