I liked their bagels right from the get-go. They're served fresh and have a crack when bitten into. I consider Call Your Mother's to be middle of the road in terms of chewiness. They're neither a hard-core traditional bagel nor a Montreal-style bagel (the chewiest in my opinion), but also not some bread dough that's been shaped to seem like a bagel, either. I've only ever purchased from the Cap Hill location. I think staff does a decent job at this spot. Although it can get crazy busy. The Sun City breakfast sammie can be ordered with all pastrami (instead of bacon), and it's a real doozy. I wasn't too sure about it at first, but two different cheeses layered onto their subtly smoked pastrami with fried egg make the Sun City tasty. Super, super busy on a Saturday morning, so placing an order well ahead of time worked best for us (~45min ahead of time). I finally made it to this great establishment after hearing such great things! We ordered online so we could grab and go. I had the 12px hot Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte and my friend had an iced mocha. We split the bacon, egg, and cheese with spicy honey on an Everything Bagel. I haven't stopped thinking about this bagel ever since! While the honey wasn't exactly spicy, at all, I didn't mind. The honey added a flavor I had never thought would be so good with a breakfast sandwich! It was a two-handed sandwich for sure and splitting it was perfect for our mild-moderate appetites. I had heard amazing things about this self-proclaimed "Jew-ish" deli, so while living on Capitol Hill, I knew I had to check it out! I ordered ahead, because this location is extremely popular, so I highly don't recommend walkups, unless you want to wait at least an hour for your bagel. They start taking orders a day in advance through their website, which is super convenient for a quick and easy pickup the next morning! I ordered the Pastrami Sun City, which is pastrami, scrambled eggs, American and cheddar cheese, and hot honey on an everything bagel. This bagel sandwich is LARGE. It's cut in half, and I think that even half a sandwich could be a large snack/small meal. The bagel is soft with a crisp exterior, and it's generously studded with everything bagel seasoning. The pastrami is tender and I just wish there was a little bit more! The eggs and cheese are both very good, especially combined with the hot honey drizzled all over the inside. The only thing is, this sandwich is quite messy to eat, so definitely get napkins! At $10 for a sandwich, it definitely isn't cheap, but it's really not a bad price for a place on Capitol Hill. I would definitely come here again and try a coffee drink (which my friend said was spectacular) or some of their various baked goods that look exquisite. I've loved visiting all the different CYM locations. This place was quite crowded on a Saturday during the late morning/early afternoon hours. We ordered our food online which originally said a 32-37 min wait but when we completed the order the time jumped up to a 45 minute. And that was an accurate estimate. While the bagels today weren't all winners, CYN still gets five stars for the efficiency, flavor exploration, and higher than average rate of fantastic taste. What we got: The Boca Club - 4* super great flavor! I loved the fish but after half a sandwich I was wishing for a pallet change. I'd recommend this one. The Sonata - 3* not super flavorful, especially compared to the Boca, but even on its own it was on the blander side. read more

I have been patronizing CYM since it's first location in Park View. I just think the consistency in quality food and service is uniform through all locations that I have visited. Today I ordered a CYOB hot breakfast sandwich and mistakenly left off eggs. The manager graciously fixed it so swiftly and with so much politeness, I had to share an amazing review. Alongside the great service, the food is delicious. You will get just bagels, in several flavors, bagel breakfast sandwiches and bagel lunch sandwiches and a couple of sides. Call your mother is a great call if you're in the Washington D.C area. I'm glad I found it. The Sun City bagel sandwich was pretty good, reminds me of a what you'd find in New York, but with a bit of a twist with the spicy honey. If the line happens to be long...don't worry they move pretty quickly and you'll be in and out in no time. The only down I could think of was the seating, it's very limited. Call Your Mother is pretty hit-or-miss. Sometimes the sandwiches are amazing, but sometimes they're pretty gross. I usually order what used to be called the Shyne w. bacon (now I think it's called the Bacon Sun City). At the original location, it's always great but I'm not sure what's happening here. Several times I have gotten this sandwich and the bacon is either completely undercooked or pure fat. I only notice this after I have taken a bite of fat or slimy undercooked bacon. I then usually end up taking the bacon off and reheating the sandwich. There are also times when the bagel on my sandwich is burnt or the eggs are overcooked and as dry as paper. For a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich that costs $11 (w. tax), this is unacceptable. I won't be rushing back to return here for a while because the quality of food is too inconsistent, especially at such a higher price point. It's also pretty annoying that when you schedule a pickup for a certain time, your food is usually ready around 30 minutes before pickup time, so when you pick it up it is cold/has been sitting out. I hope they figure out how to address the issues at this location. read more

This location is where Spring Mill Bakery used to be at 8th and G Streets SE. It's a small space and they haven't set up the inside yet due to covid-19. Their set up currently is for pick up of their bagels only. They aren't making their sandwiches yet. You order online a day before and pick it up safely at a certain time. My house ordered an assortment of 13 bagels- sesame, everything, plain, and za'atar bagels with a tub of plain cream cheese and a tub of herb cream cheese.
