Our boiler ignition kept restarting and we didn't know why. Called Merrimack Valley Plumbing and their tech blamed the switches and control board and wanted to replace them for a couple of grand. Callahan's techs measured air flow, troubleshooted the flue pipe, impeller, found and dislodged a blockage (burnt birds nest deep in the vent) within the hour. Ask for Phil. The washing machine pump constantly gets clogged now all the time. The sound it makes shakes the PVC pipes and the whole house so I know it is clogged. This is also underneath my bedroom. MY GOD the sound. It is like living above a garage now. Why did AC Callahan never tell me that moving my washing machine would entail my taking care of a washing machine pump forever (well they only last 5 years with 1 year warranty)? When the water flows, electric is right next door which is not good. They somehow removed the pipe from inside the wall when they moved the machine, so now I need to get the wall cut open and all possibly for naught to the extent the piping leads into a dry well. I've lived in Russia, England, Sweden and other places and never had to worry about my washing machine like this. Why did this have to happen to me? Why would a company be so deceitful and underhanded? They did this work March 2023. I lost my mother 3 mos later suddenly. What a year and it is still going on. The positive reviews of this company make me sick frankly as I know what they're up to. Other providers have confirmed they are shady. We had Callahan install a gas boiler about 10 years ago. We've also called them for our Central Air unit, actually 3 years ago to install a capacitor because we weren't getting any cold air. All was fine. Until today. My husband thinks the capacitor needs replacing again. The unit is not cooling the house. Could be the capacitor again, not sure, but we called Callahan for it. Well, the woman said they don't have us in their system. ??? My husband said "I have the receipts for any work you've done at our house. She said, "Well, we don't." Hellooooooo???? In July I called Callahan to make an appointment for an annual check of my gas-fired steam boiler, which they installed a few years ago ($7,500). I had to wait almost five months because I was told they have to honor contracts that are a priority. Spending $7,500 doesn't make a person a priority? The appointment was for this morning at 8:00 a.m. and when I called yesterday to confirm the woman who answered the phone (I think she's an owner) told me the technician would be late because he has to take care of his new baby. It's great he has a new baby but why do I have to sit around waiting for him to take care of a baby? I had to get to work so I called and canceled the appointment. This business is run for the convenience and benefit of the employees and not for the benefit of the customers. They have no shame in taking money and providing little or no service because they have no business skills and care only about themselves. Callahan completed a full replacement of our 25+ year old home air conditioning system with a new Carrier Infinity system. Kevin who dealt with the estimate and quoting process came out as scheduled and provided a detailed quote via email within a few hours. He was also quite helpful answering questions about options we were considering and the pros/cons of each. Never felt any sales pressure either, and he honestly talked us down from pursuing a much more expensive heat pump option because the ROI wouldn't be worth it. Many other providers likely would've just taken the extra ~$7k in sales. The install team arrived on time on the day scheduled and completed the work in approximately 4 hours, which was impressive. Everything went as planned and we're very happy with the new system. It's late October so we haven't been able to really use it beyond a quick test, but it's noticeably much quieter than our old system, and we're looking forward to the increased eco-efficiency next summer. The team also did a good job of cleaning up any mess left behind and answering any questions we had before leaving. We called upon Callahan to install central AC. The whole team was terrific. Matt was super professional in the initial meeting and project plan. John and Edwin worked tirelessly for three days to install all of the ductwork. And they were kind enough to take the old window units out of the attic for me! Kevin installed the condenser and even saved one of my favorite perennial plants that was going to be covered by the condenser pad by digging it up (in the snow!) I also liked their choice of the electrical subcontractor, David Electric, who did an outstanding job. Matt came to our house and gave us a reasonable estimate in February and booked our job for the middle of March. I'm a local southern NH homeowner and have a propane (LP) system (Rheem) on which I did my own diagnostics. I specifically required someone to install a standard Honeywell valve unit which I procured separately. Callahan took my call, but the agent (Maggie) seemed to have a problem working with what I was looking for, even so much asking if I was licensed. The agent emphasized they couldn't ensure functionality of the part (duh!). The agent's process was to take some information down over the phone and "check with the manager in the morning". She promised a call back the next morning which never came. Plus the hourly rate was $35 more than a competing provider. read more

My call one week ago today has yet to b resolved. Maggie and Sue who work in the office cover up each others lies. No heat and they do not care. They sent out a service person this past Tuesday. His name,Johnathan and he never turned in an invoice, work order or whatever he was supposed to do. They lied in the office saying he had a personal emergency and was not in work but they would look into it and get back to me. Never called back. Called again and this time Maggie told me she would get the info the office needed from Johnathan the tech who came. Earlier Sue said he had a personal emergency and was coming in later. It goes on and on. Lie after lie. Do not use this company as the women in the office tell u what u want to hear and then NO follow through, instead of just telling the truth. They just don't care about ur issue and lie to cover up their lack of follow through. I'm updating as they came today. They sent a very polite, knowledgeable young man who was kind and considerate. He took the time to explain and also wanted me to b aware, which I was, that all private businesses are working as hard as possible to help the folks that Columbia Gas has left out on a limb. Although the conversion went well, now that we are having problems with the system they fail to answer us to make a service call. It is below zero tonight and our house is not heating up properly.. We spoke to a receptionist in the office 3 or 4 hours ago, and the tech was suppoosed to call us. He never did. Now thier phones just ring busy, as if they took them off the hook. where are they when we reall need them? My husband said we also got a service contractnwith the installation. Callahan came with three recommendations. We hired them to replace our furnace, install air conditioning and install a new on-demand hot water heater. A very large crew showed up right on time and got to work and by 3:30 they were all done. From time to time I went around to them asking questions about what things were or answering questions they had for me. At the end of the day, everything was in perfect working order, my old furnace had been removed and carted away and my furnace converted over to gas from oil. The crew worked extremely well together. I recently had Callahan install a New AC System in my home. During my vetting process, I had 4 companies come to give me a Proposal. The Prices were all over the place and 2 out of the 4 did not even do Heat/AC Calculations to determine the size of my system. Matt from Callahan took the time to explain what they would do and submitted a detailed Proposal for me to review. Matt scheduled the Installation 6 weeks in advance. They arrived as scheduled. Unfortunately, I had a Family matter that would not allow them to be on site for the 3 days as planned. When I discussed this with Matt, his office decided to add additional workers to install my System in 2 days to accommodate me. Whitey, John and their crews were respectful to my home, polite and neat in everything they did even though they had less time to do it. We waited 6 weeks to get an appointment to have our three A/C units serviced and repaired. They came to the house, were not polite, said it wasn't written down which unit to repair, and refused to do it. I spoke to the manager twice and they've put us off for 6 days! In the summer heat- my kids can't sleep because of the heat. They actually said that they had a customer that was more important and they couldn't return until the following week! Six weeks before, they had trouble finding the work order Guardian care had sent them; I called Guardian again, who had in fact sent the orders; I had to get the work order numbers myself, and call Callahan again. They are incompetent and rude. I would definitely not use them again! Climate Control is a good company, as in CoolRite. We had to use Callahan as they were contracted with Guardian Care, and we already had paid for yearly maintenance work. read more
