haven't eaten at the Ale House in years but my sister told me on Wednesdays they have $1 wing specials so I couldn't resist, she had me at wings! This location wasn't busy and was very clean. I really like that we could split flavors on our order of wings, sometimes in other restaurants they only let you try one flavor. The honey BBQ was sweet but not overly, I could use a little more sauce but that's just a personal preference. The medium buffalo had great flavor and wings were a nice size. I also has a side Caesar salad and their dressing was great. The star of the show was our waitress Alison. She was top notch, friendly, helpful, and felt like an instant friend. She noticed our wings looked overcooked and sent them back before they even reached our table and then came to explain. Soccer fever is in the air so I ended my day with a stop at Miller's . I got the the sampler trio with chicken potsticker, queso dip and buffalo chicken egg rolls. My counter part had steak,potatoes and broccoli not pictured we had an awesome time and Millers was a vibe with main and alternate sitting with a private bar. The trio was not hit at all. The queso was warm at best The trio was the option since one item in the trio cost the same amount as the trio. It was literally 3 for 1. I was not a fan of the trio. Everything was perfect. A huge shout out to our server Jennifer who is the bomb. As soon as we were seated Jennifer brought our drinks and took our orders. Yes, we've been in a few times and she remembers what we like. Today we had the Big Red sandwich and tried the Zingers Mountain Melt which in itself could be a meal for two. The restaurant is clean and the decor is nice. This is our favorite Ale House in Jax. You can always get good food and excellent service. The only thing lacking is a larger dessert menu. It had been a very long time since I have been to a Miller's Ale House and I don't get why it took me so long to return. We came in for the Jaguars preseason game and were able to get a table a little after kickoff. I will say that it quickly began to fill up. One seated, we looked over the drink menu. I will say their prices are great compared to, but most places are nowadays. The same they were when I went. I ordered a Bourbon Honey Lemonade that was made with Bulliet Bourbon for $8.5. I was a good price and it was also a very tasty drink. I also got a 23oz blue moon draft that was $5.99. You're lucky to get pints at that price. Of course had to get an appetizer and we went with the 12 piece mozzarella sticks. That came out quickly had a great cheese pull and the marinara was also good. Now, when you're at Miller's Ale House, you kinda have to go for their flagship Zingers but I always took it to the next level and had to get their Zinger Mountain Melt and that's just want I did. I will say it was just as big and good as I remembered being years and years ago. I don't get what has kept me from coming here. But I know I'll be back very soon. For sure the best place for sports if you're looking for a chain bar and restaurant in Jacksonville. For sure the best chain when it comes to food and drinks prices. GREAT Grilled Chicken Sandwich ("Chicken BLT")..... but you need to doctor it up!!!! The Cajun ranch sauce is horrible and will ruin the sandwich. The solution, have them keep it off and get it plain, then get and sauce you like on the side (I only get the Honey Mustard - very good!). Lettuce is skimpy so get a double portion. This is the only place in JAX I will go for a grilled chicken sandwich. (Photo is from their website and accurate.) "Zingers" is the name for chicken tenders and they are enjoyable. Came for apps and dessert and it took forever. Said they were behind for our dessert but the ice cream was melted so I knew it was sitting. I can honestly say the last few times I have gone here, both service & food have been not so pleasant. I understand being busy, but when you don't visit your table at all then that's a big problem. Food came out super late & when it did it looked like they emptied an entire bottle of barbecue sauce on the plate & just served it. My sister & I sat close to the bar so we had a clear view of the kitchen which was the hold up. We could see, along with several others clear view of a large bowl of fries that the kitchen just threw on plates as they came out & you could tell because this meal was pretty cold as well once it made its way out. My sister ended up throwing away half of her meal. I'm newly diagnosed with celiac disease so the menu was extremely limited & I have to say I never noticed until now... it's almost IMPOSSIBLE finding menu options. We don't go to any of the Miller's Ale House locations very often, probably once a year. Every time I'm reminded of why. Nothing stellar or really commendable. At first glance: Convenient location close to shopping areas. We ended up here after running errands. Plenty of parking. We were seated immediately. There are several TVs for game watching. On the table: Typical American fare served. I hate to say, the food was bleak. Prime Burger, even with a ton of toppings, you'd think it would be more flavorful. The Fried Shrimp was basic, and the coleslaw.. I didn't notice before I took a bite and it tasted pungent. When I looked it had a brown tinge to it. (Hard to see it in the pic, with the lighting.) I thought my Pineapple Mango Mojito would save the day, but it was incredibly sour and the limes were browned. It just turned me off after that. Made me wonder what happened to quality control? Shout out: This particular visit our server was amazing. When we ordered we also placed to-go orders to bring home to the kids and she was patient and helpful with that. See you in a year! read more

TLDR Version: 1 - Wait staff (at least at main bar) is incompetent 2 - The thought police must have banned the expressions 'i'm sorry' and 'i apologize' Multiple staff members from another local bar in Southside suggested Miller's as an excellent spot for happy hours (traditional and late night). Finally made it there late Thursday night. I sat at the main bar and told the waitress/bar staff the place had come highly rated, and this was my first time there. Something I've been doing lately is trying to expand my culinary comfort zone. Trying new dishes, instead of hitting all my favorites. I asked the waitress to place an order for the top dish that would guarantee I would return 100s of times, AND to NOT tell me what she was ordering for me. They were out of her first choice (ribeye), so she told me what it would have been. She then placed a 'mystery' order, and then brought it to me when it was done. That's sort of where this review ends. She NEVER returned! ‍ Not even for the cursory 'is everything ok' check-in you get at Waffle House. After about 20-25 minutes, I'd finished my meal, but no one from the staff has ever checked back in with me. The couple to my left were also now in the 'Maybe We've Put On Harry Potter's Invisibility Cloak But We Don't Realize It Zone', as the same thing happened once their food was delivered by the same waitress! They were regulars however, as they knew several members of the bar staff by name, including a big guy I think they called Steve. After another 10-15 minutes getting increasingly irritated, Steve(?) made eye contact and asked if I was doing okay. I explained what had happened, and asked if this is how they treat new customers. Normally this is the point in the story where customer service training, shoot, maybe even home training kicks in, an apology is issued, and an attempt is made to make things right with the customer. Not the case here. He just stared at me with a blank stare like I was 'talking Chinese'! Since he was apparently struggling with how to save the day, I teed up 1 or 2 more softball questions for him, but he went down swinging. No apology, no effort to make things right, nada. For the 1sr time in my 56 years on this earth I did not leave a tip at all. That's not entirely true; in the margin of my signed receipt I left the following note ' be sure to check for the YELP review in a few days'. I'll never set foot again in that Miller's. At this point my family and I just want to get the heck out of this place! He didn't come and check on us till we all looked at him and it dinged in his head that we were his table also. This is the second location of Miller's Ale House I've been to in Jacksonville. This experience was a whole lot better than the first time at the Southside location. Hubby and I met after work for a midweek dinner. We were greeted and taken to our table within minutes. We were pretty hungry and knew what we wanted to eat so we placed our order as soon as the server came over. I ordered the plain zingers with hot garlic sauce and sweet Thai chili sauce on the side. Hubby ordered the zingers mountain melt with hot sauce. Everything came out lightning fast. The zingers were hot, crispy and juicy. I love dipping the zingers in hot garlic sauce then in blue cheese. They have some of the best blue cheese around! The sauce options are awesome, too. I like to take a few of hubby's fries and dip them in the sweet Thai chili. His zinger mountain melt was great, as always. Crispy fries with bacon bits, melted cheese, juicy zingers and hot sauce - how can it be bad. This is a must try item! The service was so much better at this location and the food was better as well. This will be our go-to Miller's Ale House location in Jacksonville. read more

I've been to several Ale House locations and can say that I have never been disappointed by the food. Tried the baby back ribs here and they were much better than I expected. Also had the "zinger" Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese on its own would be just so so, mix in the buffalo chicken however and it is delicious. Christi was behind the bar where I met a few people for lunch. We chose from a very reasonably priced lunch menu that offered a diverse selection of lunch specials starting at $5.99. Christi was incredible. Great service, always with a smile. I opted for the salmon and salad, which was pretty good. The place was pretty busy, as well. Brand new Ale house right in the outskirts of the Avenues mall! We went on a thurs night and it was packed, but the wait wasn't bad maybe 10 minutes for a 8 top. This building was just built which is cool, everything is new and clean! This one is different because there is a more defined restaurant side and bar side with sliding glass doors connecting the two. Now to the food, it's pretty much the same as the other ale houses, better bar food I would describe it as. I do love their zingers, house made chicken fingers dipped in buffalo sauce, yummy! I'm trying to be good and ordered them on a salad, but they have a gloriously bad version called the zinger melt which is over a mountain of fries covered with cheese! Deliciously Bad!
