We had dinner there Saturday evening. There were 3 of us and we ordered different dishes. I ordered the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly - I ordered a salad as did the others - they did not serve the salad until the meal came out (too late for the salad then). Someone ordered the Chicken Chesapeake which was okay - same deal with salad. The other dish was Chicken Linguine - it was not eatable - the pasta was mush and the chicken was overdone. Not sure who was in charge of the serving order, but salads should come out before the entree otherwise your food gets cold. Based on this experience we mostly likely will not eat there again or recommend it to anyone. read more

I saw this place on a rescue tv show. The food is good but portions are huge. Fish & chips was hot and done perfectly. Same for the fries. Caesar salad as a side dish was huge. Overall I liked it a may return with others to help finish the food. But the place is empty so I don't know how much longer they may be in business. Scallops were amazing. Came here last night before their ramsey viewing. The wings were also awesome. We didnt know anything about ramsey show before we chose the restaurant. We walked in and initially were told that the dining area was closed until 6 PM so we opted to sit at the bar. The bartenders were funny as they were preparing for their viewing. Went to Callahans for a Saint Patrick's day dinner and drinks. First of all, greeted by Eddie. I haven't been there since last May, but not only did he remember us but he remembered where we sat, what I ate and that I brought half home! I was impressed! The menu for the evening was very limited, just traditional Saint Patty's day options. We ordered a corn beef Rueben, a shepherds pie and fish and chips. My sandwich was delicious and I heard that the pie was also yummy and hearty. The fries, not so much. Just basic thick cut fries, not special or even all that good. We had some cold beers on tap and a delicious cheese cake, house-made. I think that the food the chef made was better than the "frozen and then cooked" stuff. Our waitress, Sherry (Sheri?) was pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly, and also prompt. The restaurant seemed to have been recently made over with new comfy chairs and maybe new flooring? I'll come back again to try the regular menu, but I'd recommend to anyone to ask what is house-made, and to skip the fries. read more

Three of us went there for dinner. We were hoping after the big show this would be a wonderful experience. Well we were wrong. The Ruben was tough and over cooked. The shrimp linguine still had the tails on and the sauce was bland. The scallops were bland but cooked well. Looks like they need to try harder. Probably not going back until bar. Several of us ate here last night. It was very good. The fried shrimp and the crab imperial were delicious. The cheeseburger was also very good. The Caesar and Hiuse salads (blue cheese dressing) were very good. The house salad could of had a little less cheese! Our server was excellent and seemed to really care about his role. I will say the French fries were not very good (not hot and tough). The ambiance was OK; but the place needs a some cleaning in the dining area (dusty ships in window and windows need cleaned). This is a great place to stop in for a cool beverage while waiting on a Take Out Order! Strangely enough they make the BEST Reuben Sandwich I have had in a long time. SUPER crispy, all the right amounts of Corned Beef/Sauerkraut/Thousand Island Dressing on lovely Marbled Rye. I just keep ordering it. Consistent, which is rare. OH!!!! They MAKE THEIR OWN POTATO CHIPS, in numerous flavors. Delicious! Comes with the sandwiches. Or as a stand alone order which I have done LOL! The bar staff are a blast, they have darts and Keno, and just plain fun to stop in after work. I thought for sure that since Gordon Ramsay came in to save this place it would be much better. Not so much. I had a party of 4. We went in the late afternoon on St. Paddy's Day. We walked in and the place was literally half empty. There was no one there to greet us, so we seated ourself and waited approximately 10 minutes without being acknowledged. I finally got up and stuck my head in the kitchen door where there were five or six staff people and I asked if there was anyone that was taking care of the table we sat at? I ordered one of the specials on the menu for St. Paddy's Day, fishing chips and without any reservations I can honestly say it's the worst fish & chips I've ever had. It was way over battered and cooked so long that the fish inside was dry. Needless to say, this establishment is at the bottom of my list of places to try again. read more

Wha there mid-Afternoon recently. Enter into Bar area, for a carry out.I waited 20 minutes at the bar, instead of taking my carry out, bartender was more interested in serving drinks. I don't drink so when I finally got my food which was a Crab cake that should've had Cold slaw and normally cooked fry's. What I got was a meager Crab cake with yellow lettuce and burned up fry's. We asked about the freshness of the lobsters - and the waitress assured us that they were fresh. 45 minutes later, we inquired about the delay of our meals. Waitress explained that they were thawing the lobsters. So, frozen, not fresh. Misrepresented information. To add to that, when dinner finally arrived, the outer parts of the lobsters were tough and rubbery from being overcooked, and the insides were raw and inedible. Grew up in Frederick and was so excited to visit.... Found the food waaaay overpriced for what was delivered. $35 for a crab cake sandwich the size of a small lemon. They were setting up for a Secret Service viewing and seemed to be concentrating on that. There was so many great options...Our waiter was simply wonderful. He answered our questions and than gave us time to decide For our appetizer we decided on the "Bang Bang Shrimp" It was delivered to the table on a fresh bed of lettuce with diced tomatoes than drizzled with bang bang sauce. Highly recommend this!!! Than settled in for the "Seafood & Fisherman's Platters" fresh green beans & baked potato & onion rings...Everything was very good, need a little seasoning for my taste buds, but very impressed I was as a whole!!! What a huge disappointment since it's "makeover". We've not been in Frederick for long, less than 3 years, and discovered Callahan's right away in the fall of 2022. It turned into our go-to restaurant, with the cream of crab soup being the crown jewel. The menu options and price point suited us perfectly. It is astonishing to me how the owners could have messed with a good thing! Not only was the new cream of crab soup recipe boring, but it was short on crab meat (and came out cold). My husband's smashburger was not worth the price, and the french fries that were supposed to be Old Bay fries were not, the kitchen missed coating them. We were a party of four, three of us got our meals in a timely manner, the fourth didn't get her meal for another 20 minutes. Management was not present, and the wait staff had no idea how to respond appropriately to our displeasure. It is very clear that proper training, oversight, and mentoring of wait staff is needed. She applied a 10% discount on the tab, pointing out that in the absence of a manager on duty, that was all she was authorized to do. In my estimation, that was not satisfactory. During this time of transition it would behove the owner(s) to reconsider their on-site presence. It saddens me to leave this devastating review. My husband and I will not consider Callahan's as our go-to restaurant going forward, I can't imagine under what circumstances we'd be returning. read more

I came for lunch on a Friday and the place was empty so I was seated and served very quickly. I ordered 2 dishes from the 'small plate' section and couldn't finish it all but it rewarmed well for dinner. I sometimes don't need the lemon for my seafood but I highly recommend it here the citrus from the lemon aided in creating the perfect balance. read more

So we decided to take Lawrence up on his offer to return. However not for brunch but dinner on a Saturday (2/9/19). They were very busy and that's a good thing for them. Wait time - 10min also good Service- good and same as last time however the server was waiting on our appetizer at the window and it had already been delivered. Food - Appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes and shrimp was not something I would ever combine. It was like someone said "OMG WE NEED AN APPETIZER TONIGHT! Then some one shouted "Fried Green Tomatoes and Shrimp". Then someone said "SOLD!" It was not good, it was cooked in that same old oil and almost mahogany in color not golden brown and the cornmeal crust tasted stale. The Shrimp was over cooked and like rubber. -1 We ordered Caesar salads. They were flavorless piles of rust covered lettuce. We ordered two flatbread entree. They took forever to come to the table. We kept getting excuses why it was taking so long. When they arrived, THEY WERE STONE COLD. The plate was hot but that will happen when sitting under a heating element. They took them back and guess what? Just heated them again and not refire the order. When they can back out they were lukewarm. This is unacceptable from any establishment. The asked them to be refired and you would have thought I asked for the Keys to Fort Knox. -2 No manager, owner anyone ever came over to apologize. Only the hostess to loudly announce "It will be 7min before the flatbreads are up!" -1 Well they came out. The Chicken one was hot and mine well it was cold. And yet they tell me there is no way to get that as hot as I want it because it will burn the edges. Come on I worked in restaurants and have had seafood pizza many times and never, never have I had an issue of the pizza being piping hot. Sorry Lawrence! This was an epic failure and one that recovery from is going to be long and slow. read more

My family of 8 all had a wonderful time for mothers day early dinner. The food was incredible! The fried shrimp, crab cakes, salmon, lobster, fried fish and fries were delicious especially the bacon cheeseburger with crab imperial...yummmm! Was worth every penny. The staff was super friendly and waiter was attentive, meeting our every demand and ensuring or drinks were filled the whole time. The only issue was the bathroom is not ADA compliant. The one bathroom is up a steep ramp and not wheelchair accessible. The restaurant needs to have a level bathroom that fits a wheelchair. My mom and I dont get out much because of the frustration of places not being accessible. But with that said i was very pleased with the whole experience. Shout out to Callahans staff for being so accommodating and attentive!!! We will be back! Oh and the place was gorgeous.... very nice decor and the super comfy, soft, plush, leather chairs were my favorite. read more
