    Watson's Carry-Out Jefferson Maryland

Watson's is always a favorite! Consistent quality, and always greeted with a smile. A staple place to visit!

This is the original Watsons fried chicken that has been served in Frederick forever. Their Nostalgic homestyle meals and sides are just fantastic. Definitely worth a stop off in Jefferson If you're traveling on 340. Call ahead is recommended; everything on the menu is awesome. You can't go wrong.

We love trying out small unassuming restaurants and that's a perfect way to describe Watson's. Despite the name being Watson's Carry Out, there is actually plenty of place to sit both inside and outside. You could tell that this place is a local favorite. There was a steady stream of people coming in and out with their to go orders. We ordered the fried chicken combo with mashed potatoes and green beans. All in all, I'd give the meal a 4 out of 5. Green beans were canned (as to be expected of a typical hole in the wall), mashed potatoes were good, and the chicken was fried on the spot. The gravy for the mashed potatoes could have been better though. I ended up not touching it after the first bite. Gravy aside, I thought it was a decent meal. I'd probably opt for the fries next time.

Got the half chicken platter with cornbread, coleslaw, and baked beans, with an extra side of Mac n cheese and sweet tea. The cornbread was excellent - fresh, but had a bite to it. Most cornbread seems to disintegrate immediately but this had real texture. The other sides were good and the Mac n cheese I especially enjoyed. But the fried chicken was stellar. Some of the best I've ever had. That alone makes this deserve 5 stars, I've been thinking about it for a few weeks.

Continuing our quest for Maryland's best fried chicken, we went to Watson's on our way out to Lock 29. Hubs and I both got quarter chicken white meat meals, and we were not disappointed. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, with a delicious crust. The macaroni salad was some of the best I've had in a long time, and the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious (very reminiscent of Stouffers... but I like Stouffers so no harm, no foul- also don't judge me). Portions were generous and staff were friendly. The atmosphere was incredibly casual with a few small tables on the side, ordering at the counter, and plastic silverware. We both agreed that while we probably won't travel to Jefferson specifically for this place, when we are in the area, we would definitely stop by again.

Made a reservation not like you really need one, but we made one and was seated down pretty quickly. The host was nice and friendly and the wait staff said hello to us within the five minutes of us seating. I appreciated how family-friendly this place was, they give these cute little animal boxes with different things inside and crayons to keep the kids entertained. The decoration is fun with a lot of outdoor vibes and stuffed real animals. They bring out a side of chip and a yogurt dill dip that's interesting, a fun idea. The food, mhm so we ordered a lot! Crab dip: 2.5/5 not too bad but not memorable, okay amount of crab, flavors were too heavy on the cream cheese/fillers but just okay, they need more bread with it but the chips helped. Prob wouldn't order again Crab cake: 3.8/5 pretty good size and good amount of crab and good flavor probably the best dish that we had ordered here! Would get again. Burger: 3/5 granted I did order this medium well for my kid, but the burger was charred a little too much around the burger, giving it a sort of dry crunch on the edges and charcoal burn vibes. Not my favorite texture that I would want on a burger, but perhaps it would've been different if I ordered a medium? Bread itself was a little stale/crunchy which I did not prefer how it was cooked/prepared. Overall, it was just okay. Ribs: 2.5/5 the ribs were half off ribs so I decided to go for it because of the good deal. But it was just okay, being that Blackhog barbecue is right next-door (thier dry rub ribs are amazing), I would hope that they would step up their barbecue rib game. For a " full rack" there were only nine bones and seemed a little smaller than what I'm used to. It's very heavy on the sauce which I didn't think was the best pairing and wasn't the best flavor bbq sauce. Overall, I wouldn't order it again. Steak kabob: 3.2/5 this was actually pretty tender for the cut of meat, I'm surprised that I didn't have to work for it so I was happy about that! The only criticism that we have is that the meat itself did not have that much flavor or seasoning and there's only one skewer of meat and one skewer of veggies. Meaning the total amount of meat that was probably on that dish was no more than 4 -5 ounces of steak. And for that price point, I would want a little bit more meat. Mac and Cheese: 3.5/5 pretty good for a kids Mac! Good cheese and flavor was impressed! Overall, the service and the host in the experience of being there was pretty good, but the food was a little lacking not sure if I would go again, but it was on our right experience in terms of food

My impression of the menu is that it's kind of a Middle Eastern, Mexican, American, everything place. Looking around, and taking the fact that it's a very small town, I can see this being a social focal point for the area. A nice full bar. There wasn't anything to dislike about it, nice people, nice food, warm, and comfortable, easy five stars. BUT. The restaurant is in a cute location with plenty of parking in a beautiful old town, making it a nice spot to spend an afternoon. The menu had so many tempting options that it was genuinely hard to decide what to order. My husband had the burger and fries and said it was probably the best burger he's ever had. I ordered the chicken and biscuits with sausage gravy, and the portion was huge and packed with flavor. The Cobb salads at our table looked amazing, and our friends once again couldn't pass up the sweet potato fries, which are always a favorite. The only small disappointment was that they were out of the Maryland special crab soup, which I had been hoping to try. I've been to Brunswick several times in my life and I've always loved the town so I was excited to see someone put a brewery in since the last time I had been there. We stopped in on an early Saturday evening and it was pretty busy because they had live music which was good. We walked right up to the counter and I ordered: - ROYGBIV Power Sour 5/5 - Bar Room Hero Hazy IPA 5/5 We then proceeded to grab a table outside and enjoy our beers while listening to the music and watching all the people enjoy themselves too while we laughed and had good conversation. We hadn't ate much all day so we decided to get something light to eat. My girlfriend walked up to the counter and ordered us a hot dog and Brie with Jam and Pita. The hot dog was decent but the Brie and chips were disgusting to say the least. The price for the Brie was even more disgusting than it tasted for a very small wheel of store bought stale tasting cheese and even staler chips, yikes! I love the building, its history, the whole layout, and vibes of this brewery, but I'd never order food from here again. EVER!
