I'm tired of Lee sandwiches. Their baguettes are too hard for the roof of my mouth. So I gave up on them. One day I decided to go jogging around the block where my apt complex is and I ran by Cam Hung. It's a very small place, very simple, nothing extravagant. The workers there are pretty friendly and ordering is as simple as picking a number associated with a picture or just pick up something from the counter and pay for it. The sandwiches are good. I think it's fresh too but I don't know too much about vietnamese food. Anyways, the sandwich isn't as long as Lee's but it's fat because they stuff it with a lot of ingredients. The bread is not hard like Lee's either. I got the number 4 (bbq pork) and a bottle of strawberry jaritos. Can't go wrong with a vietnamese sandwich with a mexican soda! HA! I've always loved the taste of Vietnamese sandwiches - the cilantro, veggies, and the grilled meat. Last week, my cousin brought over a BBQ pork sandwich from Cam Hung for me. I had not had a Vietnamese sandwich in years so this was a good treat. The sandwich was filling - good amount of meat and veggies. There were two peppers in the sandwich - I normally do not eat any peppers, but they added a "kick" to the sandwich. I just need to make sure I have lots of water or soda around. The bread was pretty soft - the crust is a little hard, but that's expected. I had another Vietnamese sandwich last week from a place in Milpitas which I'll review later. And, today, I had another craving for a sandwich so I went to Cam Hung. It's a small shop. They sell other various "snacks", but I'd probably just come here for sandwiches. I had a fish cake sandwich today. It was good, but I like the BBQ pork sandwich better for the taste. I don't see the hours listed on this Yelp page. I had called to make sure they were open and headed there around 10:30am. The lady says on weekdays, they open from 7:30am to 7:30pm. My vietnamese friend who knows how to eat (we asked her to bring veggies to our BBQ. She brought bacon wrapped asparagus AND she grilled them to perfection) recommended it to us. Their focus is on Vietnamese sandwiches, although they do have plates and soups I've never tried. My sister who is on a high protein diet ordered a huge piece of BBQ chicken leg here for 3 bucks and that was definitely tasty. We come here often because its reasonably healthy and unbelievably cheap. 3 dollars gets you any sandwich on the menu and you can ask for extra pate (which I do with my #1 ham sandwich). My husband usually gets the BBQ pork which tastes best without any pate. I know from taking several bites out of his lunch that its pretty good too. I think the sandwiches here are huge. I usually only eat half of mine, which is perfect for my husband who thinks he needs two to be full. We usually throw on a $4 tray of Vietnamese shrimp spring rolls for appetizer. This is my favorite implementation of the dish in the bay area besides making them at home. The shrimp is also fresh (though it could be more plentiful). They don't stuff the middle with tons of noodles like most places. Instead you get a crisp fresh mix of lettuce, mint and basil. They make their own peanut sauce too with a slice of pepper so you can turn up the heat if you like. Best of all the rice paper they use to wrap the rolls are different from the mushy ones you get with pho places. I'm not an expert here but it definitely seems more glutinous and thicker than anything I've had before. Very good, very cheap and very filling. read more

Cam Hung is really close to my house so this is where I go when im craving Vietnamese sandwiches, but if it was over in San Jose I don't think its worth the drive. My favorite here is the bbq pork sandwich $3. Their sandwiches are pretty good it's cool how they toast the bread so it nice and crispy on the outside and warm and soft in the inside most Vietnamese sandwich shops wouldn't put the extra effort to do this. I like the sandwiches here, but I've tried better and this place doesn't offer very much all you can literally get is a sandwich and the spring rolls and rice plates are limited they don't have the cool snacks, pastries or dessert that most Vietnamese sandwich shops have. I went here with three work friends. We got sandwiches and egg rolls and macaroons for desert. The sandwiches we got were BBQ chicken, ham, fish cake and shredded pork. Everybody said that theirs were OK. Mine (shredded pork) was good but pretty dry. On the downside there was a lot of shredded gristle in with the meat. I ordered extra meat, and I think I'm glad i did. I know at Lee's you need to do this, so I did. The portions and proportions came out just right. The egg rolls were OK, a little dry but lots of pork inside. The macaroons were flavorful but again, really dry. You really should get a drink. They have a really great selection of canned tropical juices and other drinks along with American soda. I really should have grabbed something to drink in the cooler on the way in. 'Cuz when it was my turn to order I didn't want to hold up the line to go back for a drink. And all the dry food made me really thirsty. There are about 6 4-top tables, so seating is at a premium at lunch. Service is quick so don't worry about the lines. But getting a table is tough. We arrived at exactly 12:00 on a rainy Tuesday, and there were only 2 other people in the place. By 12:15 the line was out the door with everybody standing around waiting for a table. This place is your typical Asian store, utilize every inch of space the store has to offer. This place is hard to find, but it's right behind a gas station. It's very small not big at all. SPRING ROLLS 4EVER! I love the spring rolls here. They just taste so fresh, and the noodle wrap is soft and yummy! You walk in and can grab a package of 4, which are huge. I would recommend sharing because there is no way you can eat all! I like the shrimp + pork combo. The sandwiches are also really good. I have ordered the BBQ pork before and grilled beef (I think). I'm a fan of banh mi, almost anywhere. Generally the more run-down the restaurant looks, the more authentic the banh mi will be. This place was definitely a random hole in the wall with a tiny parking lot in the middle of nowhere. Great selection of sandwiches, cheap prices, cash only. I docked a star just because I have gotten bigger and equally as tasty banh mi sandwiches in San Jose's Little Saigon. Come early if you want to eat in, they only have 5 or so tables and they fill up fast during the lunch hour. I've been trying to find a good banh mi place since I moved to the bay area. Not really impressed with this one. Mostly I was turned off by the woman's attitude who took my order. When she got there finally she yelled at the other employee in Vietnamese about something and then turned to me and asked, "Yes?" as if I was bothering her with my presence. I ordered the 4A- grilled pork banh mi along with the fresh rolls. The entire time I was ordering, she was writing it down but staring off into space. Then I realized- she was more interested in what was on television than her customers. Whatever, I paid. (CASH ONLY.) And stood to the side. Another guy came up and asked a question about something, I couldn't hear. And she almost yelled at him saying "That's how Vietnamese do!! Vietnamese way!" She repeated this multiple times and it was awkward. Anyways, I got my food and left. Completely forgot about getting a drink completely because I was kind of taken aback by the shitty service. So I drove away and ate my food. The banh mi was pretty good. Lots of filler vegetables, but I guess that's why it's cheap. I didn't think that there was "not enough" meat, as some reviewers say. I think it's plenty. The fresh rolls were what I was really disappointed in. Really gross. The shrimp tasted odd, the pork was not good, and it was almost completely stuffed with lettuce. I was basically eating a tube of lettuce. The sauce was fine. It wasn't very peanut-y which was disappointing, because I love peanut sauce. Blah. I couldn't even eat the last one (they come in packs of three). I may return in the future to see if it was maybe just an off day with the service because people seem to have a good experience here. A hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese sandwich (banh mi) place. Parking can be a pain during peak lunch hours. The store is extremely small and feels cramped. The banh mi and vermicelli bowls is a must-get! I have yet to try their hot foods such as the drumstick or eggrolls. They also have spam musubi which I have yet to try either. They make their vermicelli bowls that are packed in togo boxes that are located next to the spam musubis. They sell it $1 cheaper than the vermicelli bowls advertised. I got the 11C vermicelli bowl and it was delicious! The vegetables and noodles were fresh. One of the meat patties looked disgusting and to eat and I wasn't sure what it was (it was black and rectangular), but it tasted so, so good. For $7, this is a must-get if you are not craving a banh mi. For the banh mi sandwiches, I think it's about average priced compared to San Jose's banh mi prices. (Thien Huong is starting to sell banh mi sandwiches for $5 now..). Considering this feels like the only sandwich shop in Sunnyvale, this is a must go-to place. read more

The best yum/buck ratio I have had in a long time. A $2.75 Grilled Pork sandwich that was just perfect with crisp and tasty fresh veggies, warm pork, perfect light french roll with crispy outside and soft inside soaking up the warm grease from the pork. The place is a hole in the wall. They have a sign that says "no restroom for customers, sorry", and everyone is pretty much sharing the one big long folding table (there are a a couple smaller tables on the side maybe too, but who needs 'em). The entrance is around the side of a much larger quick shop of some kind in the front of the building. The lady who took my order was super sweet. I only come here for Vietnamese sandwiches. Some Lee's sandwiches don't listen or don't want to listen when you ask to separate the veggies, but this place ALWAYS listens. Their bread is bigger and softer than Lee's baguettes, that the roof of my mouth always seems to thank me. I love the grilled pork here. It's not as fatty as most other places. The veggies are never soggy or old. They seem very fresh all the time. Even when you bring the sandwich home, put it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds and its just a warm delight! :) The ladies that work there are friendly and enjoy conversation with the customer, especially if its just you and her in there. I went in one Sunday afternoon for a quick snack and I was amazed at the quality and the taste of the food for the price. For $3, you can get a big Vietnamese sandwich. I love the BBQ Pork and Chicken. Both are juicy and full of flavor. For $4, you can get some Vietnamese spring rolls. You can get them from the premade counter or ask them to make some fresh ones for you. I usually ask for a custom one with one shredded pork, two pork and shrimps. You get the food QUICK too. I went to Cam Hung based on the reviews posted here on Yelp and I wasn't disappointed. Although this tiny (emphasis on "tiny") little restaurant is tucked in next to a liquor store in a small little strip mall, the food here is legitimately good. I have nothing against Lee's (the major Vietnamese banh mi sandwich chain around here), but they make a much better tasting banh mi at Cam Hung. The menu is less diverse, but the bread is much softer and has better flavor than at Lee's. And, not to labor the point (since it has been made in previous postings), but the service here really is surprisingly good. The woman taking your order always has a smile and is really nice. This really caught me by surprise because most Asian food joints have sour-faced employees and terrible service. Cam Hung definitely stands out in this regard. Because the place is so small, your order is made quickly and efficiently. Last time I went, I ordered the fish cake banh mi and the bbq sweet pork banh mi. Both were exceptionally good. One of the best parts about this place is that their sandwiches have the perfect meat to veggies ratio, which allows you to actually taste all the different flavors. Also, the prices are comparable to Lee's, maybe a bit cheaper. The only downside to this place is that there are only three to four tables, so be prepared to wait or get your food to go. read more

Banh mi is a favorite lunch sandwich I like to have. It is sweet, salty, and spicy (jalapeno peppers). I ordered the bbq pork sandwich over the phone, it was ready for pickup when I got there. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. The store is kind of confusing in ways, i.e. seats and tables in the center, ice cream fridge, snacks and candy strewn around the counter. Just a lot of things going on. Doesn't bother me I was there only for the sandwich. I like the french bread they used crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would like the carrots and radish to be cut longer so they don't fall out of the sandwich when I eat. The BBQ pork was tasty but I would prefer a more juicy pork than a jerky-like texture.
