Very friendly cashier and love all the prices. Fridge had so many homemade, unique Vietnamese snacks, desserts, and drinks! I got the 10b bahn mi with sausage and egg and it was good but I really want to try one of the more traditional flavors. I also got a green drink with lychee, longan, pandan and more -- it was super duper yummy!! There's a lot of other Asian packaged snacks to buy from here, snacks you would expect from 99 ranch or marina. Also a lot of drinks such as matcha ramune, strawberry lemonade soda and more! Will be coming here more often to visit this mom and pop shop :) $8 minimum for credit card as a heads up, but all the sandwiches will hit that minimum and are all very affordable. read more

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Parking lot was empty upon arrival with just a homeless man outside asking for money?!? Masks are required indoors and there is a plexi by the registers. Staff was wearing a mask too. Interestingly enough, there was no pricing that I could see for the majority of the items. Receipt from the register was also not available as the employee said that they needed it and that only a hand-written one was available?!? Started off with the iced Vietnamese coffee and it was a disaster. The coffee was pretty bitter, albeit quite strong. The highlights were the shrimp chips which were quite fresh along with the fresh rolls which were tasty albeit pricier at $6.5. I'm in between on this one, the baguette of the banh mi was wonderful, the filling on the other hand, not so much. For some reason(s) this sandwich just didn't hit the same as other banh mi spots. My sandwich was, for a lack of a better word, bland. It was really light on mayo, grilled pork, and I don't think my added fried egg was seasoned. The pickled carrots and daikon were quite sweet and had that nice tartness to it which I liked. I just wished everything included was more balanced. My Vietnamese iced coffee was great, not too sweet, no burnt taste, and super strong in caffeine. I'll most likely be back to try a different sandwich next time! *saluting emoji* read more

I've been to Cam Hung many times with my co-workers for a quick and tasty lunch. I guess we think of it as a Viet sandwich shop deli. Good value, good taste, not a bad location to pick up. Not really to eat in, and it's a mom and pop store so don't think of it as a true restaurant. read more

I found this place a couple months ago after wanting to do more than just come out here for my appt. Cam Hung has lots of reviews and I can see why! Every time I've been here, I see people only stop by here as well in this plaza. This place is a hole-in-the-wall - small mom and pop shops that offers rice plates, banh mi's, and all sorts of asian/vietnamese goodies. I always order the Grilled Sweet Pork (4B) banh mi as it's highly recommended per reviewers. Sometimes I buy extras of these before I go drinking so my drunk self can have something to eat after. For $7, you get a quick fulfilling meal, and it's still great the next day! You can also order via phone and online. Sometimes when I'm extra hungry, I grab some deep fried egg rolls (4 for $5). I go for the pork but they also have other combos such as shrimp & chicken or something. Definitely a place to stop by if you're in the area. read more

Came here for a quick take-out lunch after ordering from a 3rd party app and got a couple of banh mi (grilled pork and beef) and a lemongrass and shrimp spring roll. The banh mi was ok - I liked the crusty bread and the pickled veggies that are in the sandwich but the meat itself (both the pork and beef) are pretty dry and the flavor wasn't great. The spring roll was a little dry as well and the rice paper wrapper was a bit stale. The shrimp filling was pretty good but the pork (similar to the pork in the banh mi) was dry and didn't really have a lemongrass flavor. Overall, the pork overpowered the shrimp and took over the whole spring roll. While this spot is close to my home, there are much better hole-in-the wall banh mi spots in San Jose that are worth the drive to. read more

Spring rolls are giant and honestly the best price for spring rolls that you can get. The store itself is small, you order at the counter and wait for your order. We came for Friday lunch and it wasn't too crowded! We ordered #4B and #1 and it only took 5 mins to get our order. The sandwiches are best toasted in my opinion so we took it home and threw them in the oven for a bit. Compared to other banh mi places I'd say this place stuffs their sandwiches with alot more pickled vegetables. They do have an $8 credit card minimum if you're paying with a card. Unassuming on the outside and no frills inside but that's when you know the food is good. I just found this place on Yelp. People had great things to say, and the pictures definitely got me drooling. So, I decided to give them a try. I placed my order online, which was really easy. I ordered the grilled pork and added a fried egg. I cut my sandwich in half to check out the cross-section. I was already pleased with the bread-meat-veggie ratio, which is important in a banh mi, to me anyway. At first bite, I was in love! The meat was tender and very tasty. The pickled veggies were just right, not too sweet. The bread wasn't too thick. The flavors came together perfectly!!! So good!!! Even better than the best spots in SJ's Little Saigon in my opinion. I got a #1 ham banh mi and added pate. Adding pate to it was an extra dollar so I was a bit surprised since the banh mi I've had in the past includes pate in it. Regardless, it was a pretty good banh mi overall. The bread was pretty soft with a small crunch, and the ingredients were balanced. Randomly stumbled upon Cam Hung driving down Reed one day and so glad we did! Lately it's been my go-to for banh mi when I don't wanna drive far and it sure does not disappoint. I've only had the grilled pork banh mi (4A) so can only speak to that but it was very delicious. The pork was flavorful and juicy and paired well with all the ingredients. I also really loved the bread. It was very soft yet had a slight crunch so it didn't feel like it was cutting the roof of my mouth (iykyk lol). For the quality and the price of banh mi nowadays, it was well worth it. There is also a variety of snacks and drinks along with other options for banh mi and plates, all of which sound and look tasty. Despite it being tucked away in a corner plaza, there has always been other customers around as well even though I've gone at different times in the afternoon and evening before closing. The service is also pretty fast and my food has always tasted pretty fresh. Looking forward to hopefully trying out some other menu items but also love that my go-to is pretty reliable. read more

Bought 2 cold cut specials, 4 grilled pork and a bunch of snacks. We didn't like the bánh mì here. The cold cuts were okay but they gave us 1 small sliced of soggy cucumber with very little cilantro & pickled daikons/carrots. The grilled pork was dry and not tasty. A Sunnyvale gem. Last review was 10 years ago. I came in for a #2b with pate, and came out with Three Layer Cake, two lemongrass chicken quarters, a small sticky rice and tofu pudding. Here's why: 1. Consistency, it's been over 1.5 years since I have been back (moved away from the area). The bread they use from the Bahn Mi is much better in taste and has a nice crust. I didn't find my sandwich salty; I do like they add the Maggie sauce to the sandwich, and mine had just the right amount of cilantro. They layer cake, while I prefer more pandan, but I welcome the mung and red bean layers. 2. The chicken. I forgot how amazing this understated chicken is. They could just have a store for this chicken. It's marinated, deepened with lemongrass aromas, and really cooked to perfection with just that skin that you want to eat, sweet, salty. (take it home crisp up the skin in a toaster or air fryer.) I brought two portions and plan to take the chicken and make a salad and add rice vinegar to the lemongrass sauce they give you. Take the skin and make it into cracking like a crouton! I should have brought some of their radish and carrot pickles to add in the salad. Saving the sticky rice and tofu pudding for my 102-year-old aunt! 3. Variety, there's some here for every picky eater. Vegetarian dishes and if you have Jewish friends, you can get them the lemon grass chicken or tofu sandwiches. (I was eating more vegetarian back in 2013, so I came here weekly.) The snacks, if you haven't tried their chicken jerky, you'll have to get it. I'm didn't buy it, but when I went in, I had a big smile. I tempted to buy more, I did, but the hams, the desserts, the dry good snacks. Since I have been back, they have done a great job merchandising and adding more variety. 4. The price, today, I walked out with all that food and it was $38! Unheard of the variety and getting chicken for that price; I think a quarter is $6.50, what a great deal. 5. Staff. Back in 2013, the owner was at the helm, and she ran the Cam Hung with ease. The owners also have another restaurant and hired an unpleasant cashier. She seemed bothered by you even being there. Well, now, no more. I was welcomed by a young man, he was so articulate, and sweet natured. When it was getting slammed, a teenager came out. I wanted to talk to her, because she was the little girl I remember playing in the background. She's all grown and was so kind to the rude lady placing her order. I couldn't help myself. I had to lean in and listen. She'd didn't roll her eyes like a typical teen. Instead, she clarified the order, took down her two of her custom sandwiches, and all with a kind smile. The chef, oh, she made an appearance. She came out to bring out a big order. Tiny she is, but I had a big smile as I saw her. It's been several years and just seeing her, I knew the food I purchase would be just as good as I remembered it. Cam Hung is becoming a Sunnyvale institution, much like Dish Dash or the Falafel Stop. I'm going to find my way back more regularly and bring my friends. No seating, it's a take-out only place. There's Braly Park, it's a two-minute drive to a 5.6 acres of open space if you are looking for a picnic spot. The park has a restroom, a parking lot, a new playground and a water play area for the little ones. If you're nearby, drop by for a cold drink and experience the taste of South East Asia with homemade cold soy milk and pennywort drinks filled with vitamins and minerals like B, K, calcium, zinc, and magnesium! read more

It has the perfect amount of veggies and pork. Definitely a Sunnyvale gem for banh mi! They always use super fresh bread for their sandwiches...soft on the inside and a nice crispy crunch on the outside! One of the best things in life! I really like getting their Shredded Chicken Banh Mi or their Pork Banh Mi. The meat is tender and has great flavor. Both have a heaping amount of pickled veggies, cilantro, and jalapenos...perfection! Make sure to get an egg roll or two! You can order them individually, so it's a nice add-on to your sandwich. I like that this mom-and-pop shop also sells a variety of other Vietnamese snacks and desserts! They have a fridge with lots of different canned/bottled Asian drinks as well. Staff was friendly and service was fast. There was a wait though because more people came in. Three stars because it lacked meat (although it's only $6.50 for a sandwich). They also didn't have much pre-made food available! I always go for that along with the sandwiches. There's plenty of other spots and I only came here because it was convenient. Plus, they accept card! Do get the three layer cake though! Made in house and perfect amount of sweetness from the pandan and taro! Cam Hung is a small Vietnamese sandwich shop located in Sunnyvale and is a very typical looking Vietnamese sandwich shop. Sadly, the food here falls short especially when you can just keep driving for another 15-20 minutes to Little Saigon to get some really good Banh Mi. FOOD I ordered a #1, which is the Ham Banh Mi, and an iced coffee. There is an extensive menu though. Quite frankly, this is the saddest Banh Mi I have had in recent memory. There really isn't much going in this sandwich in either taste nor in ingredients. The sandwich looks very deflated because they don't really pack much into it. Just a completely underwhelming sandwich. The iced coffee was nothing remarkable either. SERVICE Standard order at the counter procedure here. Their menu is located above the counter. Order there, pay, and wait for them to give you your sandwich. There are also things you can buy; make sure to take it up to counter before you place your sandwich order though. Pretty straightforward service, nothing noteworthy in either positive or negative note. COST The cost is my biggest gripe here. The sandwich was $7 and the iced coffee was $6. As I mentioned above, you can go to Little Saigon and get a better sandwich and coffee for cheaper. Just overall, expensive for what you are getting here. Save yourself the hassle and go to Little Saigon. SETTING Standard Vietnamese sandwich shop setting here, which means it definitely looks very divey. From the large sandwich menu to all of the snacks piled up around the store, this definitely screams family owned Vietnamese sandwich shop. This is a to-go place, so you can't really eat here. Cam Hung is located in a small strip mall. There is a small parking lot, but I don't see it being an issue unless there's somehow a lunch rush around here. Ultimately, I'm very disappointed with this place; the food is edible, but it's underwhelming and expensive with what you are getting. Great place to stop and grab cheap bahn mi sandwiches. Very close to the SJC airport and in the heart of Vietnamese town. Very authentic restaurant that gives you a large sandwich for the price. We tried the #1 and the #4. I preferred the pork one more. The meat was more fresh and it had a good sauce on it. Both were good though. Quick service - order inside then grab and go outside. It was almost like she was annoyed people came into the store to patronize the business. When it was my turn i ordered the roast pork to go. When I started biting into my sandwich every single bite of the meat was either fat or gristle. I had to spit or pull the meat out of my mouth bc it was just not edible. Really great Bahn Mi at great prices (I think it varies but my last one was $8). Very large, fresh, and warm sandwich which is a great value and filled with meat and vegetables. One sandwich with no snacks or anything on the side is filling enough to be a hearty lunch on its own. The store is basically a room that leads to the cash register, with some coolers on the sides containing various drinks, some premade food, and snacks. There was a good selection of drinks, from soft drinks and energy drinks to Asian drinks and coffees. The service was good, prompt, fast, and the food was out within minutes. No complaints here. The value for food is unbeatable by almost every takeout option in the area in my experience. The fact that it's a mom and pop shop makes me feel good to be a patron of such an establishment. And on top, the food and service is good, so it's a nice experience to get take out from here all around. Every time I have been here, the staff has been very friendly and professional. Simple, yummy and fresh banh mi! This banh mi spot really hits the spot lol. They have a wide selection of banh mi for a decent price. In addition the banh mi, they have a bunch of snacks and treats inside. The grilled chicken banh mi was really good! The chicken had some sort of sauce or marinade that was slightly sweet.
