I went to Trader Joe's and saw the CUPCAKE sign on the wall and had to stop by as I LOVE cupcakes. I ended up getting the Boston cream pie, red velvet, chocolate with chocolate frosting and the stroopwaffle. OMG, these have to be some of the best cupcakes I have ever had and I have had a lot!! I only ate the Boston cream pie one and my husband and boys had the others. I was planning a wedding in Camarillo area, I'm about a hour and a half away from this cupcake shop. I didn't have time to meet with them for a tasting because I was so busy. It seems like they had hundreds of flavors. Since I wasn't going to do a tasting I just had to pick a flavor. We choose a candy bar theme on our 3 layers. Bottom layer was m&m this was the layer we cut ourselves and gave each other a bite, right after we put it in our mouth we were like wow this is actually really good ! Layer 2 was snickers And I have no idea what it tasted like I didn't get a chance to eat it. Our top layer was almond joy. This layer was for us to save for our 1 year anniversary but since we loved the m&m layer so much we cut open the top layer and enjoyed most of it the day after the wedding. It was amazing (I still have a few slices for our 1 year anniversary) If you are out of town and you can't do a tasting let me tell you Camarillo cupcakes made the best wedding cake I've ever had. I ordered cupcakes for a baby shower and rented a display stand from Camarillo cupcake. The hardest part was deciding which flavors to order! We settled on a dozen each of chocolate and strawberry lemon. Everyone loved the cupcakes at the shower and commented the flavor and texture are better then the acclaimed Sprinkles cupcakes. The chocolate especially is so packed with chocolate flavor - definitely recommend! Not many bakeries in Camarillo to pick from for events like this so I'm glad we have Camarillo cupcake now. The mini peanut butter cup garnish on top was unnecessary since the frosting was almost spot on for Reese's peanut butter cream, making this entire thing taste like a giant peanut butter cup. SALTED CARAMEL = enjoyed the touch of sea salt sprinkle on top, but the excessively sweet frosting combined with the caramel drizzle overpowered the cake. Speaking of salt, take my assessment with a grain of salt -- this cupcake was my husband's favorite. COOKIES & CREAM = cake was slightly dry, but I appreciated the chunks of cookie bits in the batter. Once again, frosting was overwhelmingly sweet. I love love love sweets and was surprised at how multiple flavors were just too saccharine for me. WHITE CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY = sorry, did not enjoy any aspect of this flavor except for the single raspberry fruit on top. The frosting was ABSURDLY SWEET, well beyond enjoyment, and the cake part was dry. After one bite, threw the rest away -- which I was not happy about since these cupcakes are not cheap.
