I can't say enough about this place! I'm going to keep it short, I want to start off by give recognition to Brandon. He was extremely accommodating, my husband and I showed up a little early; way before our check-in time and Brandon was able to get us into our room. The room was absolutely beautiful, with a stunning view. I loved how the windows opened from both ends, allowing more fresh air into the room. Brandon made the most tasteful mocha latte and the following morning he made a delicious breakfast burrito. Can't say enough about Brandon and this Inn. Location and views are fabulous. Being able to walk along the shore and watch the sunset, including from the lawn chairs, was wonderful. Really enjoyed the complimentary wine with ocean view and one of my biggest reasons for booking it was due to they accept dogs, which says a lot about an establishment. That being said, there are areas for improvement. When I checked into my room, I noticed that the the dark blinds were stuck so I went to the office to see if they could help. The manager came to my room; tried to lower them and agreed they were stuck. She said she would ask the maintenance person to fix it. A day went by and nobody came by. I was awoken to a bright room early in the morning so my sleep was cut short. I went back the office and the same manager welcomed me with "yeah, what's up"? I highlighted that nobody came by to fix it and she seemed pretty indifferent but said she would request it again. Needless to say, nobody showed up to fix it during my whole stay so I was greeted with shortened sleep thanks to the bright room in the mornings. While I was checking out, I highlighted this to the new manager and she laughed it off, saying that's why she brings blindfolds when she travels. No discount offer or anything. Furthermore, their door key cards are the most sensitive I have ever encountered. I had to have them reprogrammed 3 times during my stay. Also, the owner apparently requested that they close the wine tasting early due to rain so, when I showed up to use my complimentary wine vouchers, I found it closed over an hour earlier than their posted closing time but the server did provide me with the complimentary wine since I was a guest but they were no longer offering food so no marinated olives and nuts to go with it. That being said, the Inn does have a great location; is a value and I love that it is dog-friendly but they do need to work on their customer service. Oh and some more Vegan options and recycling/compost bins would certainly help. read more

1. They might overhaul their card key system. We stayed here for 3 nights ( unfortunately) and we had to have our card keys replaced 4 times to get into our room. What a waste of our precious time. That we were being charged for. 2. Nice big wall mounted tv. Spectrum system. It worked but once You found the guide, You could not select a show to watch. You had to go channel by channel and hope to find it out of many channels. By the way, the remote they gave You wasn't a Spectrum remote? We even went to the office for help. They couldn't make it work. I wasn't here to watch TV of course but When it's dark, breezy and in the 50ies outside a nice sitcom before bed is sometimes nice. 3. This morning we went to get a cup of coffee at 8:05am. Coffee is supposed to be available @ 7am. Not open. 5 other guests were waiting patiently. Could we ask the office? No it wasn't open either. It finally opened at 8:10am. 4. Oh by the way, bring your sunglasses for Your room. The only lighting is spot lights in the ceiling. Nothing you can control from bed side. Were there any dimmers to adjust the lighting down from solar flare to reasonable. Nope. Just the palm of my hand or sunglasses. Again By the way, the Cambria area is awesome with some great wholesome dining experiences. Linn's and Robin's. Wow! We've stayed along Moonstone over the years. Just never @ the Cambria Shores Inn. Guess what? Never again because there are lots of choices along Moonstone. I'd like to rate it a 1 star. But, Mother Nature helped take the feeling of total disappointment away. We've been staying at the Cambria Shores in for 26 years. Aside from airbnbs, we've never stayed at any other hotel in Cambria. This place is amazing, the view is amazing and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. We've stayed in various rooms over the years, they vary slightly. Some of the rooms have baths, some don't, some have oceans views, some have partial ocean views and some don't have views at all. I do have my favorites but I've never been unhappy in any of the rooms. I prefer coming here off season when it's less busy, it always feels cozier that way. The one negative thing I'll say which is probably a positive for most people but the place has a bougier feel now than it did before and this is because of the wine bar that's been added. I personally am not a fan of it, I think it's attracted a different crowd. The inn to me used to have a very cozy secret hideaway feel to it and now, I'm going to go ahead and say it, it feels to me like it's overrun by wine snobs and because of that change, I'm going to knock it down to 4 stars. We will most likely keep coming here but as I said, for me, the wine bar is a huge negative. read more

Both days it was a piece of fruit or two and two slices of warm bread one with banana bread and one was maybe a pumpkin bread. This hotel is in a really nice location across from the water. Rooms are large and comfortable and the morning breakfast is really good. Unfortunately during the time I was here there was a guest with an Old model t car that was parked right outside my room. He started his car every morning at 6 am and let it idle for about 15 minutes and it woke me up. The office staff was so unfriendly and really seem to hate their jobs. read more

There are mold in the showers here and the mattresses are uneven. Expensive compared to the other lovely hotels on moonstone beach drive that are pet friendly as well. I had a lovely stay at Cambria Shores Inn, which is located on Moonstone Beach Drive which runs along the coast. Complimentary wine vouchers at Madeline's on Moonstone were offered when we checked in, which we did not use. There is easy access to the boardwalk for an easy stroll along the coast. The boardwalk is wheelchair accessible and there are benches along the way.The hotel property is well taken care of. I always saw staff tending to the grounds from morning to evening. This is a dog friendly hotel. There was never any dog poop on the grounds ; people cleaned up after their dogs. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. When we checked out, they made a point of telling us that there was no rush to leave the property; they said we could stay and enjoy the outdoor patio area or go take a walk along the boardwalk. I stayed in Room 22 which had a small patio in the back (access through door past the bathroom sink area). Despite not being a private patio, it's still a nice area to let your little dogs enjoy being outside without keeping them leashed. There are chairs on the patio. You can see a tiny bit of the ocean from the patio, however you will have much better views from the common outdoor patio by the parking lot. So getting a patio room is not a must have. The nice thing about Room 22 is that there is a low "wall" in front of the room. This. helps block car headlights from shining into your bedroom window when they park in the space directly outside the room. During our stay, we saw one guest park their vehicle in the "no parking" zone at the left corner of the parking lot, despite it being clearly marked as "no parking". This "no parking" zone is at both left & right corners of the parking lot. This risks getting blocked in when other cars park in the valid parking spots to the left & right of this "no parking" zone. The bedroom had relaxed decor, with a fireplace for ambiance (it did not give off much heat). There is a DVD player in the room. There is a good selection of DVDs in the lobby which you can borrow to watch in your room. The king bed and pillows were comfortable. I loved the overhead reading light which you can adjust. The bathroom sink area has plenty of counter space, plus a microwave & fridge for your convenience. It's also furnished with mugs, cups, plates, utensils, cloth napkins, cutting board, wine opener, and coffee maker. The bathroom is very spacious with a large deep tub and a large shower with rain shower head. I wish there was a way to adjust the water output on the shower head; I would have liked a bit more intensity from the shower head. The bathroom door had a sliding pocket door with no lock; full length mirror is on the pocket door. There is a hook outside each room where they hang a breakfast basket in the morning. The basket contains pastries from a local bakery, string cheese, fruit, and orange juice. There are also plates, utensils and cloth napkins. It's a charming way to start the day. Eat in room or outside if the weather is nice. The contents of our Breakfast Basket were exactly the same on both mornings. In the afternoon, you will find warm oatmeal raisin cookies and warm brownies at the lobby. Coffee & tea are available at the lobby all day. There is wine tasting at Madeline's on Moonstone, directly in front of the lobby; there is a deck facing the ocean where you can enjoy your wine (or take it to the outdoor common patio area in the parking lot). The hotel is close to "downtown" Cambria where you'll find shops and restaurants. It's divided into West Village and East Village, so make sure to stop by both ends of downtown. Parking is easy to find. We had a lovely dinner at Madeline's Restaurant. They offer a 10% discount when you're a hotel guest. Perfect little cozy hotel in Cambria. My family and I stayed for one night this past summer and it was perfect. Moonstone Beach was directly across the street from us and a minutes walk away~perfect location for the kids/adults to go stone hunting. Its also a short drive away from the elephant seal viewing point. Check in and check out process was super easy--they also have fresh brownies and cookies during certain times (doggie snacks too). All the rooms are on the first floor, so no stair climbing. Parking is directly in front of the rooms. Lawn chairs are also available at the front of the hotel for people who want to watch the sunset. Our room was decently clean, didn't find stay hair or bedbugs. Absolute favorite parts of my stay were the fireplace (sat there cozily most of the night and next morning) and the morning breakfast basket. They also gave us wine vouchers for the restaurant on site...which I didn't use..but it was a nice gesture. We happened to book during the summer rush so one night was ~$450 ish after everything. If you go during slower times, I think the pricing would likely be more reasonable. read more

We loved everything about our stay with a room with a view of the ocean, and beautiful property. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay here at this cozy hotel right across the street from the beach. The people were endlessly friendly and accommodating. Tea and coffee was available in the office pretty much all day. The room was clean and recently renovated with a nice array of small touches, like a soft closing toilet seat, a fireplace, and double window shades on most windows. There was a coffee maker, fridge, and microwave in the room, as well as a small assortment of dishware. A breakfast basket was delivered in the morning with juice, fruit, and delicious pastries. Love this little inn! What a special place to spend our anniversary and Valentine's Day. We loved it so much we extended our stay. The rooms are very well insulated and quiet and all have a beach view. We didn't hear a thing from the other rooms or any road noise which is an issue with the other hotels on Moonstone Beach. The staff were friendly, smiling and Scott was always happy and had a twinkle in his eye and was ready to help. We were offered free wine coupons upon check in at Madeline's wine bar which is attached to the hotel. Free coffee, cookies and brownies were a welcome treat! There are many beach front hotels to choose from along Moonstone Beach Drive, but one thing that stands out with Cambria Shores Inn is their dog friendliness! Customer service was great too, from the time of booking to check in/check out. There's lots of grassy areas and lots of chairs sitting on their lawn space for watching the sunrise and sunsets, where people gathered snuggled with their pups. Because the coastal weather when we were there was so darn cold we didn't spend time on the patio or on the lawn chairs. We did take daily walks along the beautiful coastal boardwalk. Other notables are nice clean rooms that look recently upgraded with colorful art, large tub and separate shower, large counter space area, micro and fridge, fireplace, and our room had a patio with partial view. Rooms are comfy and worked well for us. There were noisy neighbors on our last night there--oh boy, that was one heated argument! I booked the room in December, thinKing more businesses would be open up by April. Thankfully, this is what's happening! Little did I know that when I booked I was entered into a raffle and I won a $100 gift certificate! Back to the dog friendly part. "How many dogs will you bring with you", I was asked when I booked the room. Well, we have three. But, of course I'm sure we can't bring all three. Sure you can, no problem I was told. In the end we only only brought one with us. Their website says they provide doggy welcome goodies, which we didn't get. We stay at Cambria Shores Inn several times a year because it is wonderful, right on Moonstone Beach (ocean viewing right from the rooms) AND quite dog friendly. The Inn is locally owned and exceptionally well cared for. They have thought of all the little touches that mean so much and make our stay feel warm and cozy. The decor has such a charming character! The headboards and tables are handmade from solid Monterey Cypress. In addition to breakfast being delivered to each door in the mornings, they greet you with house-made cookies when you arrive (and every day) in the afternoon. They also serve yummy, house-made brownies in the evening. Fresh, hot coffees and teas are available all day long. They even have many Adirondack chairs on their manicured lawns to sit in and watch the waves roll in. As if that weren't enough, Madeline's Restaurant and Wine Cellar has a tasting room right on the Cambria Shores Inn premises and serves small bites both outdoors and indoors while you get to watch the ocean and see the sun set right into the water. I booked a night through Airbnb and had a wonderful stay with my 3 dogs. The rooms were clean and simple with thoughtful touches throughout the space. We received complimentary wine upon arrival and goodies in a picnic basket in the morning. They had grassy areas for all dogs to relieve themselves and made us feel welcome. The access to the beach and view of the coastline was excellent from our vantage point. I highly recommend and next time will look up rates directly on their website to compare with Airbnb to get the best price. My husband and stayed here during the pandemic but I just never pushed publish on my review. So here I am 1 1/2 years later thinking I would enjoy going back to Cambria Shores Inn. It's reasonably priced for the area, in front of the beach (just across the street), and it's very pet friendly. I made last minute reservations and the receptionist called me to ask for my dog's name so they could have a treat for him ready. Indeed the room came with a water and a food bowl which is convenient for traveling with a dog. I enjoyed sitting at the table by the window in the room and listening to the sounds of the ocean while sipping wine with the fireplace on. The only detail was that the art was outdated on the walls. It reminded me of a hospital. However with clean pet-friendly rooms and in a great location, I would stay here again. read more

This has been our favorite hotel in Cambria for a long time! I think my husband and I have pretty much been to every hotel on Moonstone and we always come back to Cambria Shores! We have stayed here a few times during the pandemic and always felt pretty safe. The rooms are clean, the wood laminate floors are a nice touch! Hard to believe some hotels still think carpet is a good idea. This last two night stay though was a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is still pretty amazing and the staff here are all super friendly. Housekeeping is very accommodating and keeps us supplied with fresh towels and essentials should we need extra. The reason for my four star review is for the bed, I think the beds in our room have seen better days. My husband and I both woke up with sore necks. The bed dips in the middle and has lost is oomph! I love that they give you cute little breakfast baskets delivered to your room each morning! Coffee, tea and cocoa are all available at the front all day long which is really nice. I just wish that they would deliver your pastries wrapped up. Especially now, this should be a given. Before covid, they would have bagels or muffins individually wrapped inside the baskets. Maybe they will take this into consideration. All In all, I would recommend staying at Cambria Shores! It is still our favorite hotel here! read more

We have been visiting Moonstone Beach since 2007 and have stayed at most inns on the drive , which have offered excellent service.. Our most recent visit was a weekend getaway with another couple on July 23-25 and we were very disappointed in the service here. I really loved it until I pulled back the sheets for a nap and found a good amount of both hair and pubic hair on the bed. It was obvious to us that the sheets weren't changed. This is so disgusting. I called the front desk and the front manager and housekeeping came by took pics, changed the sheets and spoke to each other about future plans. They didn't even apologize or offer a bottle of wine, meal at Madeleines....I don't know something. Im wondering if they thought we planted it!! First of all, my husband's bald, I have straight, thick hair and this hair was fine and light brown. Don't even get me started with the pubes. Now, they're getting 2 out of 5 stars because Chase at their Madeleine wine tasting patio was knowledgeable and friendly. I don't know if the hotel hired him or Madeleine's so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Lovely location right across the beach. Room felt clean and updated. At check in we were offered brownies and given two free drink tickets we unfortunately didn't have a chance to use. We enjoyed the breakfast basket too that was delivered and hung by our door - pastries, string cheese, fruits, and orange juice. Would have been a five stars stay except our heater was "broken". It made super loud rattling noise when we turned it on, it did not feel safe to keep the unit on. This isn't some small rattle, it was extremely loud and you can't ignore it. It was already past 8pm and the front office was closed when we discovered this so we stayed a very uncomfortably cold night. Next morning I mentioned the noise at checkout and to my surprise, they said they know about it and "are working on it". They should not be renting out the room with a broken heater unit in the middle of winter, and no warning at check-in when they know about it is unacceptable. read more

Hubby and I were in need of a trip to the beach and after searching for dog friendly hotels in Cambria~ we hit the jackpot with Cambria Shores Inn. I loved everything about our time there. The hotel is in a U shape with a beautiful succulent garden and grassy area in the middle. There are chairs around the grounds so that you can sit and enjoy the view. At sunset many of the guests and their pets sat outside which was really beautiful and totally unobstructed. If you aren't a fan of dogs I'd suggest picking a different hotel because there were dogs everywhere. I had little contact w/ staff due to Covid restrictions, but I spoke w/ Scott on the phone while making the reservation and again while checking in. Our room was cozy, clean, and up to date. Thankfully during the night I never heard any of the normal noises that come w/ staying in a hotel. No plumbing sounds, TV, doors closing, neighbors talking- not a peep. We slept like babies w/ the fireplace on and with the windows open and were able to hear the ocean waves. * The rooms don't have carpet so maybe bring a bed for your doggie to lay on. *Dogs are NOT allowed at Moonstone Beach which is directly across the street. Price per night averages from $250 - $350 (plus taxes and fees), and $20 per dog. The hotel is right by the beach! Check in starts at 3:30pm and check out at 11:00 am. As soon as you open the room, you get a clean smell (bleach, cleaning supplies kinda smell). The room was immaculate. The room also comes with a dog bowl station, fridge, microwave and kitchen cabinets. You can also control the temperature and set it to your liking; which this is a plus for me. Outside: there's an amazing view to the beach and beach chairs outside. We got to watch the sunset with a glass of wine The beach also has a trail where you can walk your dog. Make sure to keep your dog on a leash as there's many other dogs in the trail. Overall, great experience! read more
