A wonderful day in one of our favorite places. Everything about it was perfect. Fortunate to be able to get a King ocean view room with patio on the first floor, so walk right out on the deck and enjoy some wine in the evening or coffee in the morning. They also have a nice community fire pit on the other side of the driveway. The room was incredibly comfortable and spacious; the bathroom was large and beautiful, and the shower was amazing. Lots of nice little touches like a complementary burrito in the morning coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge, blanket for the patio on chilly days. Staff was incredibly friendly. We stayed at the Blue Dolphin Inn for the first time way back in the 1990's. We've stayed at the Blue Dolphin Inn probably 10 or 12 times since then, although we have also stayed in many of the other places along Moonstone Drive. We just spent five nights in Estero Bay at the Blue Dolphin Inn. The stay was almost magical. Estero Bay is one of three rooms that share the huge patio at the front of the property. We've spent hours every day on that patio, watching people, pets, traffic as well as seagulls and pelicans while soaking in the salt air and listening to the sound of the surf. I highly recommend the Blue Dolphin Inn. We were greeted by Jack who is very customer-service oriented as well as friendly. Then we had Jill for a couple of days. Jill has worked here for as long as I can remember. I always find it comforting when Jill is in the Front Office. She is delightful and professional. We're at that age now where we're not going to be able to do much more traveling; our bodies are worn out. So we wanted to spend what might be our last visit to Cambria at the Blue Dolphin Inn. Unfortunately, it's probably the end of an era for us but treat yourself to a stay at the lovely, well-situated Blue Dolphin Inn. I think you'll love it as much as we have over the years. On our previous visit to Cambria we stayed at The Sand Pebbles Inn. The Blue Dolphin is run by the same group of Inns. We reserved an ocean front room on the first floor with a patio. The room with a King bed was comfortable. The walk in shower was spacious. The mini refrigerator is a great convenience. We enjoyed the fireplace as the temperature at night was cold. The patio is perfect for enjoying the water view and sunset. Breakfast is preordered and delivered to your room at your selected time Parking is available alongside and in back of the Inn. Parking alongside is most convenient for rooms closer to the ocean. read more

We made our reservation over the phone for April 2, 2026 - April 4, 2026 with an over the phone live person at the Motel. The person put the incorrect dates completely in the system, and we were charged $579.12 "for a no show". I called the Blue Dolphin Inn Directly, and they promised us that they were refunding the total of $579.12, when in reality they charged us ANOTHER $200.00 on top of the original amount! They claimed to "comp" us one night, but charged us for it, and charged us ANOTHER $477.00!!! We went through round three of trying to get this squared away, and the girl at the front desk, (working April 3, at 4:30pm) was not only rude, but lying in an effort to fail to refund us the now fraudulently gained money. She stated "you booked through Expedia", whom I've never used in my life. She talked over me, and down to me. A TERRIBLE experience. We are now over $1,000.00 for two nights at the rates of $165.00 & $183.00 You do the math. This has ruined our trip. Caused nothing but stress, the exact thing we came here to get away from, and will never again stay at any Motels operated by this company. I'm not a negative person, and I hate to write this, but this is the only way I may be able to get a return call from HQ or any Manager at that. read more

I wanted an ocean view room but none were available. Our room was clean, comfortable with a bed, two chairs flanked by a small table next to an underwhelming view of the outside. Also included: a one cup coffee maker, small refrigerator, microwave and daily breakfast. My husband had the yogurt parfait. Good. I had the vegetarian scramble. Adequate. Breakfast also included orange juice but it was not fresh and tasted terrible. Would have preferred a fruit cup but substitutions were not available. Certain parking spots were tight and difficult to maneuver around. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. My second time staying here wasn't as great as the first time. I absolutely loved the room I stayed in the first time. I made sure to take a picture of the name of the room. So the following year I could request that exact room. I called multiple times for dates on that specific room. Finally I said what dates is that room available. I was given dates and said ok perfect I want those three nights. When I arrived I immediately saw that the paperwork had a different room name. I said something right away but I felt like the gentleman didn't want to hear it. My mom went back and said something a second time and we didn't get an apology or anything. I was pretty disappointed. We literally planned the timing of the trip around the specific room. I also brought a lot of snacks to put in the refrigerator since I knew they had one. It never stayed closed so things didn't get very cold. I still enjoyed my time but it's not fun when your trip starts off on a negative note. read more

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel which was from January 17th to the 18th. My mom and I stayed in room 211 which was called the Saldanha Bay and a couple of friends of ours stayed in room 212. As soon as we walked in the room we had a beautiful view of the ocean we even took pictures of it. They even have binoculars in the room, which is good because I forgot mine. They bring breakfast to your room. The bathtub and shower were amazing and nicely decorated and so was the room. They have a high bed and they give you a stool. We will be back soon. read more

Stayed in the upstairs ocean view room. No balcony in room. It did have a seating area near the ocean view window. The window could be opened which helped with not having a balcony. When checking in, you're given a breakfast order form to fill in from a couple choices, with what time you'd like it delivered to your room. What you need to know. First it needs to be said that the accoutrements and service have been reduced but,...not the prices. Others in the area have adjusted better. Service- the in room coffeemaker sprang a leak and dumped hot water on the cabinet. When reported I was handed a rag. A replacement appeared outside my door later. I did not craw behind the refrigerator to install it. Room items - has shifted to a demand-based process. Prepare a request form to bring with you include items that you would like refreshed and drop it iff at the office EVERY day (coffee, tea, water, cookies, etc.). Otherwise they will not be replaced until you leave...no matter how long you stay. Note- beds will not be made. No little chocolates on the pillows, etc. Breakfast items have been pared down as has the packaging (now a small grocery-bag) Still my favorite group of accommodations nicely outfitted and kept well, very good place to stay but,... Print the TV guide (first page) to take with you, there may not be one in the room. You really don't need the other three pages (all sports, ugh). read more

My son and I stayed here while in Cambria for the Christmas Market. The location is lovely. It is a small, well kept, quiet hotel. The woman who checked us in was pleasant. I really have nothing bad to say. The only minor irritation was that there is no temperature control in the room and the heater was on. Every time I tried to call, no one picked up at the front desk and every time I went to the front desk, the woman working was either on the phone or not there. I had no way to ask to turn the heater off, so we had to sleep with the window open and the fan blasting. The cookies provided were yummy and a nice touch! And they also provide a bagged breakfast and coffee in the morning! Great stay! read more

My husband and I have been coming to Moonstone Beach for a number of years and we decided to forgo our usual hotel, Moonstone Landing, to try the Blue Dolphin Inn based on all of the positive reviews. Boy did we regret that decision as soon as we arrived. The lady at the front desk showed us to our room (Rm 100) which is directly behind the reception desk. It was dark and had this old multicolor carpet - you know the kind you could spill anything on and you wouldn't notice the difference- and the whole room smelled stale like no one had opened the window in ages. When we asked if there was a possibility to get a different room, the lady explained that since we booked through Expedia this is what we get or something to that effect. Basically, apparently since we went through Expedia we are second class guests who get what we get. Thankfully our stay was only for two nights and we made the best of it. The location across the beach is great - of course, our view was of the front parking lot and the sound of the highway in the distance instead of waves but oh well. Overall it really could use some updating and refreshing and that carpet has got to go. We were charged $330 a night and this was not worth it in my view. This hotel is bare basics and not up to par compared to some of the other inns along this stretch of Moonstone Beach. On the positive side the bed was comfortable and it was reasonably clean but I wouldn't call it immaculate or super clean the way some of the other reviewers have raved about the cleanliness. I would definitely not recommend this place but if it's your only option on a busy weekend I would definitely not book it through Expedia and try to have a telephone conversation with someone there to confirm which room exactly you would be getting. If it's Room 100 or 200 I would not pay more than 200 bucks a night. read more

Booked a last minute trip to Cambria and found a superb ocean front room with a large patio. In addition to having a magnificent location, this hotel provides top notch service, with friendly and welcoming staff. We have been longtime returning guests to another hotel on Moonstone Beach, but will never go anywhere but Blue Dolphin Inn again when visiting Cambria. Only very minor disappointment was that they didn't have any playing cards to borrow for the evening, but did offer a nice chess set that we used instead. Understandably a little pricey, but worth every penny. read more

We stayed here in September for our 30th anniversary. Since it was our anniversary we decided to splurge for a beachfront, patio room. It was perfect! It was literally right across the street from the beach and walking distance to the Moonstone Bar and Grill. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. I love the tub with the Jets and the electric fireplace offered a nice ambience. Since Covid, they don't have a continental breakfast but they deliver a bagged breakfast every morning. The choices were very limited, a breakfast burrito or yogurt with granola and blueberries (blueberries were thawed from frozen and a bit mushy, but other than that it was pretty good) and juice. Since Covid, they do not offer daily maid service which was fine with us as we don't like anyone in our room when we're only staying for a few days. They were more than happy to give us more soap and shampoo when needed. For a special occasion, we will definitely be back. It's just more expensive than we normally pay for a room. read more

My husband and I usually stay at Moonstone Landing but we needed a dog friendly hotel for this visit. Check in was a breeze. There was a dog bed, food bowls and treats waiting for my fur baby when we entered our room. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfy. The sofa was a plus and the jet tub. Breakfast is brought to you every morning. We are each morning at the front of the hotel patio while enjoying the ocean view. With or without my dog I will be staying at Blue Dolphin again! read more

Loved our stay and LOVE Cambria. The Blue Dolphin was just what we were looking for. A spacious room overlooking the ocean, amazingly comfortable bed, super clean & thoughtfully appointed, quiet location (and location location location is real!), off street parking. Wine at sunset & coffee in the mornings were enjoyed at the outdoor patio seating overlooking the beach. We were offered in-room breakfast ordered the night before (delish). So much to see all around us. Biking, boardwalk beachside trail for miles. We lucked out and were treated to a home-town parade for Labor Day. So very charming. Walking distance to amazing food. Very nice people everywhere. The staff and the ambiance of Blue Dolphin just made you feel special and valued. A truly top quality boutique hotel. Loved it and will return soon! read more

My wife and I had an awesome stay this week here. We've stayed at their sister inn. The Sand Pebble, and the Blue Dolphin Inn is just as wonderful. This is our sixth stay on Moonstone Beach and these two inns are the best. Great customer service, beautiful clean rooms, and they deliver a pretty hefty egg breakfast to your door. We stayed in the double queen oceanfront room (Sea of Japan) and it had a great view of the ocean from the second floor. Great bathroom with a tub and separate walk in shower. Also had a Keurig coffee machine, microwave, and fridge. They even provided two bottles of water, chocolate chip cookies, and plates with silverware too. Pretty decent wifi, was able to use our Firestick without issues. Good thing we had wifi because both our TMobile phones didn't get any cellular service here. If you are TMobile customer, be prepared to use wifi calling and have a good VPN client. Parking was good and a nice touch offering clean rags and a squeegee to clean your windshield. Just had a great time and definitely coming back here or the The Sand Pebble the next time we come up to Cambria. read more

Blue Dolphin Inn was a wonderful property for our overnight stay back to LA. Right across the street from Moonstone beach where you can go for walks or watch the surfers from their balcony. The rooms were huge and very clean. The front desk and staff were super friendly. We will definitely stay here again. Plus they're pet friendly at $25 a night and our pup Pablo had his own bed and bowls ready upon arrival! But book ahead of time as they only have 2 pet-friendly rooms. We just enjoyed two nights at the beautiful Blue Dolphin Inn. I would highly recommend this hotel. Everyone on the staff so welcoming....especially Jill at the front desk. Even the rooms at the back (where I was with a small ocean view)....if you leave the window open, you can hear the ocean at night. Walking on Moonstone Beach in the morning was so beautiful. I also got to enjoy sitting on one of their patios with my coffee watching dolphins in the water. All in all....I would highly recommend this hotel. It's very quiet and relaxing. We love this place. The staff at all of the Cambria Inns are always friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and cozy with free continental breakfast. Electric fireplaces. Some rooms have jacuzzi tubs. This location has a great oceanfront view. There are many inns on this road and the Blue Dolphin and their sister inn Sand Pebbles have some of the better views because there isn't a lot of land between the ocean and the boardwalk across the street. The further north up the road the more land so the view isn't as full. What's also nice about this location is that the Moonstone Grill is walking distance and it has great food. read more

This was our first time staying in Cambria. I picked the hotel and was a bit worried as to whether or not I made a wise choice. This hotel was amazing! We stayed in room 204, which is near the hotel lobby, however I've never stayed in a more quieter room than this one. My mom and I kept commenting on how we never heard a door being slammed or water turning on. The room was very clean, and our view was decent. Our window faced the driveway, however we had a nice little view of the ocean. I kept the window open all night and enjoyed the ocean sounds. The hotel staff were all friendly, and my mom felt pretty special when she saw the little birthday message in the room. The provided breakfast was better than I expected too. I look forward to visiting Cambria again and staying at the Blue Dolphin Inn. read more

We just returned from a 4-day stay at the Blue Dolphin. We have nothing but praise for this inn. Rooms are beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, staff is unfailing friendly and helpful. Full and partial ocean views are spectacular. We spotted whales, otters and pelicans. We can't say enough about this inn. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were generous and delicious. The grounds are especially well-maintained, and the two outside seating areas are comfortable and have great view of the ocean- perfect spot, weather permitting, to enjoy breakfast or coffee at any hour.
