We just celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary this weekend, and as I was going through our photos, I couldn't help but think--wow, our wedding looked absolutely magical! As an avid collector and gardener of Epiphyllum cactus, I had a very specific request. These blooms are rare, stunning, and delicate--they only open at night and have a short season. Since using fresh blooms wasn't an option, I asked Atalanta if she could incorporate silk epiphyllum flowers into our arrangements. Not only was she open to the idea, but she thoughtfully consulted me on the best ways to incorporate them--and she nailed it! She transformed our venue into a glowing, romantic summer fairytale. I can't express how much I absolutely loved all my wedding flowers. I was overwhelmed with how magical the flowers looked. I wanted a combination of roses and orchids to match my wedding colors of teal and purple. Atalanta was so great to work with and she listened to exactly how I wanted my flowers to look. She made an inspiration board and even worked with me to do a mock centerpiece to ensure that we were both on the same page. She truly loves what she does and it definitely shows. My arch and petal aisle were breath taking and my centerpieces were perfect. Our bouquets were amazing. All the flowers were fresh and beautifully arranged. Our sweetheart table was repurposed with our arch flowers and looked stunning. She decorated our tablets with lovely teal votives and candles which went perfectly with the flowers. Atalanta also added orchids to my wedding cake. Everyone kept complimenting the flowers and were excited to take the centerpieces home. In fact, at the end of the night, one of the servers at our venue, told me that she works lots of weddings and hands down my flowers were the most beautiful she had ever seen. FACT: Working with Atalanta is wonderful. When my fiance and I dropped in to talk about flowers for our upcoming wedding, we were completely unprepared to talk shop. We had a kinda/sorta vision involving some petal-ly things and pretty colors, but it was clear that we hadn't done our research on the merits of Gerber daisies vs. dahlias. From our vague inkling of an idea, Atalanta spirited us through the most deft and delightful consultation we encountered during our planning process (including those that involved tasting CAKE!). She brought lots of ideas to the table, flipping adeptly between her extensive portfolio and images pulled up on her laptop to give us an idea of how the arrangements might appear. Still, she was incredibly flexible - enthusiastic even - about incorporating our input into the overall design. The vibe in Atalanta's shop - bright, breezy, and bolstered by the charm of her dog, Sadie - is such that we just sort of wanted to stay and hang out there. (It could get awkward once the wedding is over...) When we left, there was no doubt in our minds that we had found our florist. Apart from her obvious experience and creativity, disarming personality and clear passion for what she does, Atalanta's arrangements are breathtaking. Our decision to go with her crystallized even further when we received her followup quote, which included photos of sample arrangements and showed her prices to be jaw-droppingly decent. We used Camellia flowers for our wedding. First, I have to comment on the excellent customer service. I knew exactly what flowers I wanted and Atalanta (the owner) was incredibly patient with me and ended up realizing my vision into reality very well. Also, she and her assistants delivered flowers to my house, the ceremony site in Balboa Park and the reception site in La Jolla and did all of the tear down and clean up after the ceremony. I was really worried about the flower logistics but everything went without a glitch - they took care of everything! The prices were also very reasonable and Atalanta is incredibly friendly and a pleasure to work with. In terms of the flowers themselves, the bridal bouquets were exactly what I wanted and absolutely stunning and fresh. They did an incredible job with the ceremony site, completely transforming it. The ceremony decorations completely exceded all my expectations! I had only two small complaints. First, reception centerpieces weren't very fresh, such that even at the beginning of the reception they were looking a little sad and wilted. Second, I made it very clear that I wanted "movie star" roses for the centerpieces, but got plain orange ones instead. Easy mistake to make, but all the other flower shops I considered seemed to know the difference (they were also more expensive though, so it's a fair trade off I guess). Overall, we were very happy with Camellia Wedding Flowers and recommend them to couples on a budget who want personal attention and beautiful flowers. read more

The profusion of blooms was so elegant and the decoration of the ceremony site perfectly proportioned, creating just the right frame for the bride and groom.
