Good fish and chips I enjoy going there. it's been here forever. And the place is never changed in a good way

So I came here for fresh oysters. I should have known that in a fish and chip shop everything is fried. Anyway I walked up to the counter, asked for oysters. I was told there are 5 in an order. I got fried oysters alongside fish and chips. I suppose it was just a huge misunderstanding. I didn't complain, ate my fish and chips and left. however if you are after some really good everything fried food pub style, it's a place for you! read more

This a great spot for a favorite British classic, Fish and Chips. I found this spot when i was pretty young, and have been going ever since. The restaurant is small, and usually busy. However when you do sit down and look around at their many decorations and cool posters you really feel like you're in Britain. Knights on the walls, and a funny step to step guide on how to play cricket, it is one of the best decorated restaurants I've ever visited. The menu is mostly deep fat fried seafood, such as calamari, scallops, oysters, and more. But what you need to order, is their fish and chips. The fish and chips come beer battered, not breaded, like a lot of places in the City, and the Bay area. The fish is great, and boneless. It has a good texture, and you can tell they put a lot of work into it. The chips, are similar to steak fries, and if you add the British vinegar they have, they soak it all up, and the meal is complete. This is the best Fish and Chips you can get in the Bay Area, if not California. If you were going to try it out, I feel the thing worth getting is the fish and chips. read more

They currently made a horrible decision by moving the sidebar to the front who wants to sit and eat food while people are standing over you and ordering very awkward their original set up was awesome you could see people come in and enjoy your food now it's kind of weird I truly believe she screwed up the feel of the restaurant. Camelot Fish & Chips should be avoided like the Thames at low tide. I've been going to Camelot for several years now, mainly because they're local and it's convenient. I've tried to give them the benefit of the doubt on many occasions, but the quality of the food has remained mediocre at best, and the service has steadily gone down hill. Service is unacceptably slow (usually 30 minutes to prepare a simple order of fish and chips, and another 15 minutes or so waiting on line to pay), and the staff less than friendly. Knowing how slow they are, I recently called in an order to give them some lead time before a much anticipated family evening out. The kids were really looking forward to it, as were my parents, however the woman taking our order was surly to the point of actually berating me for calling in an order ahead of time. My advice to other families: Camelot is not kid-friendly! As for the food; the fish is over-battered, and obviously comes frozen. The clams are surely the same as you might find in a box in the freezer section at the local Safeway, yet far more pricey. The scallops, when I have tried them, have been rubbery, and the oysters also taste frozen & tend to sit heavily afterwards. The chips....meh, ok. They've usually been somewhat soggy. Certainly nothing to write home about. Also, what fish & chippery worth it's salt only serves one type of fish? In the UK, New York, and other places where the dish is popular, you can usually choose between cod, flounder, rockfish, etc. Lack of choice should tell you that the owners didn't research the business enough before giving it a go. And whilst the decor is cute in a garishly kitschy sense, the product is more like the "Red Lobster" of fish & chips; you would probably find it fine if you've never had them before, but for the rest of us it's quite disappointing. If you're on the coast and in the mood for fish and chips, you should consider driving the extra 15 minutes south to Princeton by the Sea for better (and fresh) fish & chips. The drive will probably be less than the time you'll be stuck waiting at Camelot, and you'll get much better fish & chips experience at a better price. read more

A bit pricey, but if fish n chips is what you crave, this is the no fail spot for you. Try the fried Twinkie and Oreos!

My husband and I were in the area and decided to have a late lunch here yesterday. I haven't been here in years but remember this place to be on hit with the fish and chips and it still is! Fish and Chips are $8.25 which includes 3 good size white fish and super yummy tarter sauce with a nicely savoring batter and yummy big size fries. Their calamari is okay but it wasn't the best b/c it had more batter. The wait for food takes awhile but well worth it when you take your first bite on their dish. Service is great. Our waitress was on top of it. This is a small eatery may be only a restaurant that can accommodate 25 people seated. Plenty of parking. We will return! read more

Best fish in chips around! This is not California cuisine. Its authentic English Fish and Chips, so ya..its a bit greasy but I wouldnt want it any other way. I love the traditional fish and chips, my lady loves the clam strips. read more

Having been in London recently, I can say the batter is a little limp here at Camelot. It appears less so on the oysters, which I would recommend over the fish any day. The fries here also have that burnt oil taste. Kudos for having a few less-seen British beers and ciders to choose from. Cash only :( read more

It's been a few years but I decided to try this place again. Food was better but nothing fantastic. Fish and chips didn't seem as oily as they used to be. Clam strips were also better, not overcooked like I used to get from here years ago. Staff was nice and friendly too. read more

Best Fish and Chips ever!!! This was my grandmas favorite and has become ours as well. Shrimp and chips and hush puppies don't disappoint! My only complaint is that it is a bit small inside and they are cash only. When you are ordering a lot of food you need a lot of cash and I just don't carry much cash if any in general. read more

I haven't been going here as much as I used to, but went last night for my usual chicken and chips with onion rings. The food is always good. They have a new worker there named Nicole that was fantastic! Very personable and intelligent. I usually have an Anchor Steam while waiting, but they were out and she recommended an IPA I'd never had. Excellent choice by her! Will be going more often just because of her service. I came in on a really busy day. It was the first time I'd been here and there was one woman to run the orders back and forth as well as staffing the register for take out. There was a problem with my order which couldn't be rectified that day, but which the staff at Camelot fixed the next day. Well done on customer service. Oh yeah and the food is good too! read more

YES, it's greasy. It's Fish and Chips???!!! There's British royal family kitsch all over the walls and you can get real ginger beer. Lot's of real Brit beer as well. It's all about the fish, so don't bother with the other crustacean. This place is very small..its a small pub like restaurant that sells all different types of beer..their decor is resembles a bar..they got beer on tap along w/ beer in bottles... their menu consist of mostly all seafood, they had some non seafood items such as fried zucchini, jalepeno poppers, mushrooms, hush puppies (have no clue what that is). I've tried their fish and chips, calamari, oysters, and the jalepeno poppers. The fish is prety good in size, along with the jalepeno poppers. Their calamari was good.. so was the oysters..although I wish the oysters were bigger! They were bite sized..can easily fit in your mouth. All in all the food was good. It gets pretty packed here, so we ordered to go, on a Saturday food took about half an hour...cash only, so be prepared..the place can seat about 20-25 people..so I would recommend take out if you don't want to wait for a table. read more

Sometimes, you just have to give in to the food lust and tell your brain, the part that really wants you to be healthy, to take a rest. That's what we collectively decided to do yesterday. We got there at 11:30 and 2 other parties were already there. The 3 of us each ordered fish and chips, but I also asked for shrimps. As other reviewers said, stick with the fish!! The fish served are all generously portioned and moist. The crust has just the right amount of crunchiness and are seasoned properly. The opposite is true of the shrimps, where the stiff, thick crust overwhelms the crustacean. The fries are serviceable and make for good fillers. It was a good experience all in all. read more

My bf and I decided to try everything out in this little plaza in Pacifica. We've already tried Columbo's and Green Enchilada, both of which are excellent, so now it was time for us to try Camelot Fish & Chips. After reading all the great reviews, I was really excited to try this out. I mean, who doesn't like deep fried goodness? I know I most certainly do. Anyway, the reviews were right- the place is very small..but cozy. They sure love Guiness over there, which made my bf very happy. We both ordered the fish & chips and both came out piping hot. It was absolutely delicious!!! The only thing is that my bf prefers to have lemon squeezed over his fish, but they don't have lemon there. I'll be back to try some other items, but the fish & chips are a definite must. read more

My review really should be 3 stars, but since they have Strongbow (OMG!) and sweet potato fries they get an extra star. Those are really the only two reasons I come to Camelot. The portions are huge, so I usually order a half order and that is perfect. Everything on the menu is good. I really wish they would serve decent tartar sauce. I have a feeling that is too Americanized for them though. One time I heard someone request a deep fried Mars bar (they have a small section of candy). I am curious to try this concoction, but haven't made it there yet. Make sure you bring cash, they don't take cards. read more

used to get just the chips and a soda here for my lunch back in 1989 when I was a broke kid working at the comic book store across the St, still has the best fish and chips by far that I've had outside of London. I would never go back. Nothing tasted right, like the frying oil was off, and the fish was tough and tasted repulsive, & freezer burned. All three of us had the same reaction today. My son has been there many times before and wanted to share but he was unpleasantly surprised. What happened? Zero stars. At least the root beer was good. read more
