came across the camera shop when i was in college, since moved to three different states, and still come back for every roll of film needing to be developed i got tired of paying walmart's prices for film development and then having to wait at least 2 weeks for my photos to come back. let alone, it took forever to get someone to come back to the photo department or on the phone to assist. since then, i've made the switch to the camera shop and refuse to go anywhere else. the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, in person and over the phone. film comes back quickly and in fantastic quality. with their new website, it's become so easy for those who are not local to place an order and allows easy access to developed photos. getting the notification that my photos are ready brings me so much excitement! i can only speak to the film development, but there are so many fun gadgets and photography tools and services here as well. love this place! highly recommend! read more

I've been a customer at The Camera Shop for over a decade and I always find excellent advice and prices on equipment. But the print shop is really where they shine. The images are clean and crisp and the color correcting is spot on. Ron is a hidden gem. He and Patrick and Chad have jumped through hoops for their customers more than just a few times. They really care. For instance, today I needed two very large prints made and mounted for a funeral with pickup the same day. Somehow they found a way to rearrange their whole workflow to fit in my large, mounted prints. I'm certain they had a heavy workload already but they understood why there was a rush and made it their priority. Thank You. Really. You are appreciated. read more

They do indeed have cameras. Far more of a selection of new digital brands than most places - in fact Castle Photo only carries Canon, do you believe it? Anyway, the people seemed nice enough when I went in, and they do 120 color film which is a plus. Not a great fount of used camera goodies though, which is what I'm after. Also, very very little in the way of film photography support, but you could probably guess that nowadays. read more

I came in needing a tape digitized ASAP for a family member in the hospital. The staff was understanding and provided me an excellent digital version. It was a time sensitive request and they handled it wonderfully. I'm a customer for life. They did an excellent job. I'll be using them for all my tape-to-digital conversions. read more

Paid $32.85 for three 5"X7" prints of an old color photo 7-2-2021 at this store. That exorbitant price for "custom" and "color restore" got me 3 inferior, blurry photos 17 days later. If they were unable to sharpen the photo at all, then why the extra charge for "custom"? Normally 5"x7" prints would be less than $1.50 each here. I guess I expected more for $10.95 each. The people were nice, their business practice shoddy. You don't always get what you pay for, my Microsoft Picture-It does a better job than The Camera Shop. read more

I found this place because I needed to get my Nikon speedlight repaired. For repairs they use an external lab somewhere (no in-house repair services unless it's very minor). You put a $50 deposit down, then they send it in, and after your equipment is evaluated they call you with a quote. You can either give them the go ahead or tell them to hold off while you go work the street corner. Okay that's a total joke but really, photography is an expensive profession! What shocked me though is that repairs take 3-5 weeks or some outrageous time frame like that. I'm not sure what professional photographer can afford to go that long without an essential piece of their equipment. Next time I'm seriously considering driving to the Nikon place near Detroit that does repairs while you wait (or, so I've heard). BUT, I've also gone in to purchase a mononpod and a mini softbox for my speedlight. Both times I asked the staff for recommendations and they were happy to take the time to help me. Usually though you can find products online that are much cheaper, but it's good to help out a local shop and know you're getting a good product. Overall I give this place 4 stars because they have a good amount of quality equipment for sale, their staff always helps me when I ask, and they seem to be on top of things. The repair time most likely isn't their fault. Oh also I've gone in to get my camera body and sensor cleaned, and it came back looking great. read more

What a wonderful place. My husband passed away ( 10/21/16 ) , we went here to get an old VHS that my husband was videotaped on and turn into a DVD, at first it would take 3-4 days, until I told them I needed it for his funeral....it was 3-4 hours. Plus they did a picture CD. I cannot express my gratitude enough to this business and of course "Woody" who waited on us. read more

I am so glad I went here. My sister passed away and our photos were deficient. A family photo did not have my husband in it because he was the photographer. They were able to add him to the photo. We had no 8x10 of my sister. They eliminated her husband from a picture, changed the background to look like it had been taken at a studio. We would not have been able to photo shop those pictures. It was expensive but I loved the result. read more

Purchased a Nikon camera on 12-10-2014 as a gift. Someone else also purchased the same, from another out-of-state location. Tried to return this camera to The Camera Shop rather than send the gift back with the out-of-state family member. The Camera Shop refuses to take the camera back without a 15% "re-stocking fee" equal to $75. Buyer beware! Read your receipt from this "Local" business. It does state on the receipt that the purchase is "subject" to a restocking fee, this is NOT stated in the store prior to the purchase. Clerk in the store indicated the fee is for "credit card" processing, we paid cash, still insists on charging the $75 fee. Went to store and was told that "Nikon" had a policy with bundle purchases where they issue some rebate, so the restocking fee would be in effect. Called Nikon directly, they were not aware of any such policy. Please do not put your poor customer service on the shoulders of the manufacturer. Once you purchase an item from this "Local" business it is yours unless you pay a fee to return. We try to avoid Big Box shopping and support our "Local" businesses. We will not support this business with future purchases of "add-ons" for this camera. In my opinion, this is a very poor way to do business. We were also told that the camera could no longer be sold as "New" and would have to be sold as "Used". It was never opened! Feel like we were duped by this "Local" business.
