Sightseeing Pass - Miami After making a full round trip on The Big Bus tour from our starting point (Bayside Marketplace) we walked less than a mile (0.7) to Camila's Restaurant. It didn't seem that far of a walk but when you're under the hot sun and a humid February weather in Miami it was a long walk. Upon our arrival we checked in with the hostess and presented our Sightseeing Pass. No issues (unlike the Big Bus tour). She immediately showed us the buffet counter and said that drinks and desserts were included in the deal. Sweet!! We feasted our eyes on the home style Brazilian buffet offerings. I love Brazilian food! They had 14 types of salads but I skipped the salad bar and went straight for the real food LoL! There was chicken, fish, meats, lots of sides, natural juices and of course, delicious desserts. I'm not able to repeat the items on the buffet menu but everything I got on my plate was delectable. If we ever return to Miami I'm going straight here. The staff were friendly and amazing. They served/refilled the drinks and cleared our dirty plates from our table often. Our Sightseeing Pass gave us an All-You-Can-Eat buffet at Camilla's Restaurant, otherwise, buffet price per person is $27 (I asked a server) which is still not bad for an AYCE. I'm glad This was one of the place my wife picked with the tour package we have. This was ideal place in downtown Miami away from the crazy Biscayne. At the end o of our hop on hop off tour, and prior to hopping on our first boat tour. We had lunch here. It's about 3/4 of a mile from bayside market place which is busy. The food is Brazilian style. All you can eat but I packed it in one plate . Rice, black beans , veggies , pork , chicken and steak. Unlimited refills. I was full after. It was well worth that walk. read more

Have been here a few times and i like the diversity in food. Despite being a buffet the food type rotates. The plates are always clean, meaning the table service is prompt. The secret of human happiness is eating at Brazilian lunch buffets. Called "comida por quilo" in Brazil because you pay by the weight of the food you buy, Comida por quilo is simply the best way to get Brazilian food. You get nine million cooked dishes and they are always glorious. * * * Even small back-of-the-pack comidas por quilo are better than regular food. Indifferent comidas por quilo are like indifferent chocolate. It's still chocolate. * * * Camilia's is a fair to average comida por quilo near Government Center in Miami. It is similar to the comida por quilo you might get at a hole-in-the-wall lunch place in a lower middle class neighborhood in Sao Paulo. Which means by American standards, it's wonderful. The selection is small, but selections are small at hole-in-the-wall places. Here 50% of everything you see is amazing instead of the normal 95% of what you see is amazing. That means there is plenty of amazingness to go around. This being America, it is not 'pay by the weight of the food you took'. It is a flat price for the buffet. So there is no reason not to load up. * * * What should you load your plate with? 1) Anything with beans. The bean soup over to the side. The feijoada. The plain old black beans. 2) Anything with braised or sauteed meat. Chicken hearts with sauteed onions are to die for. These are better than many chicken hearts I have had in Brazil. Sausages with vegetables are wonderful. My mother gives a very strong thumbs up to the milanesa. 3. Simple salads. 4. All of the grains - both the rice and the farofa. Pay special attention to the farofa. This is over on a side table. Farofa is toasted casava flour that is dumped on every wet or moist dish you can think of for a main course plus some meat as well. It is like putting bread crumbs on your food but only 1000 times better. In theory, dumping crumbs all over your food ought to do almost nothing. But farofa is one of those things like fresh sesame seeds that just makes everything taste better. It also tastes great all by itself. It is dry so it needs the gravy or the liquid from your other dishes. Put em all together and the sun comes out. 5. Also note their two hot sauces - a homemade low heat vinegar with peppers and diced onions over on the side table, and a commercial mineiran hot sauce in a bottle right on the buffet. The commercial stuff will blow your head off but you will love watching your brain explode. The vinegar with peppers and onions is more suave but is just as lovely. The food doesn't need any heat or any extra flavor at all - but both sauces are a lot of fun to play with. * * * What to Avoid? 1) Desserts. They do Mineiran desserts - and Mineiran desserts are the finest desserts on the planet. But the execution is just not there at Camila's. I thought it was the absence of raw ingredients, since some desserts like coconut pudding require absolutely positively fresh-off-the-tree coconut. However, even dishes with plain old supermarket ingredients like doce de leite (caramel pudding) were heavy and didn't taste like much. 2) Composed mayonnaise salads. No health worries here. The food is fresh enough. But the salads are leaden in texture and not interesting. This is too bad because at other comidas por quilo, salpicao, one of the great Brazilian composed salads, is usually one of the stars of the show. 3) Plain old fresh fruit and vegetables. Raw ingredients in Brazil are just better, especially in the case of fresh fruit. This is not the restaurant's fault here. You just don't get good bananas, or pineapple in the U.S. * * * What is the Jury Still Out On? The Picanha, flank steak, grilled and served in hot slices from a skewer. Picanha to be done right, has to be grass-fed. Corn-fed picanha just doesn't work. Nearly all American picanha is corn-fed, so I skipped it. But lots and lots of Brazilians were loading up on picanha. It is entirely possible that picanha might be good here. * * * Overall, Yelp Reader, you get the idea. In Brazil, all the musicians are wonderful and so are all the cooks. Camila's is like the random samba coming out of the window of the house of a random saxophone player in a random favela. 10/27/2015 There is churrasco. That is all that matters!! Well I am learning Portuguese and my teacher told me that this place was great so I tried it and I loved it. This is buffet style so you can eat as much as you want for $14.99. However, drinks are not included. I thought it was a great deal though. First round I got salad, rice and beans, yuca, and churrasco. Wow it was so delicious. The Chrurrasco was very good good. The beans were so flavorful. My goodness. Now that is what I call authentic brazilian cuisuine. I had to get some more Churrasco so I went for a second round. This time I didn't get salad. I got rice and beans, yuca, this other beef dish (not sure of the name), and more churrasco!! It was great once again. The only think that was ok was the beef thing. I had no idea what it was, but it had an odd taste. For dessert, they have so many options like rice pudding, mouse de maracuja, mouse de chocolate, and more. I got the chocolate mousse and wish I got a second cup. It was very delicious and sweet! This place is huge and you can come with all your friends and have some Churrasco and Arroz e feijao! Very casual and nothing fancy. And if you want to practice your Portuguese, there are so many Brazilians here. I definitely recommend coming here if you had a light breakfast or no breakfast at all. This Brazilian buffet does it pretty well for what it is. Here, a 3.5 stars would be good. The place inside is kept clean all the time, thanks to the fast actions of the employees. My plate is instantly cleaned off the table once I leave for more of the buffet (yes, I'm a pig). It seems like the prices have gone up from $10 in the past reviews from 2008 to $12.89 it is now - yup, I'm holding up my receipt as we speak. :) Perhaps it's cheaper for dinner? I wouldn't know since I came for lunch. They had the picanha although I saw that they were kinda tricky with it. If the cut had a lot of meat, they would cut it thinly (and that's not smart - it makes the meat turn tough since it's still cooking itself when it leaves the grill). If it has a lot of fat, then they would cut it more in chunks, with a large portion being the fat, which is admittingly better - I'd just cut off the excess fat - but leave enough for the exquisite flavor. Carnivore all the way! But sometimes I just gotta tell that woman who is cutting the meat to cut it the way I want - decently-thick long slices... mmm! Only when done that way is the meat truly tasty! The dark meat chicken thighs were good but you'd be wasting your money over that. The pork was yummy and moist! The russian (potato) salad and the other salads were good. The two rices were bland - but white rice may be your best bet if you want it - I'd just skip it except if I wanted to mix it with the feijoada. Stay away from the seafood - they were dried out. I also noticed that there were some things that I didn't see that were mentioned in the other reviews: arroz grega, steak in onions, and plantains? It's pretty authentic for Brazilian and a good value if you plan on eating a lot. Just be picky with your choices. read more

Went to eat here while on vacation with my wife and 3 kids. We where staying at a hotel 1 block away so decided to give Camila's a try. As soon as we walked in we where welcomed by the host who also was our waitress. She recommended chicken, rice and black beans as well as their house special steak with rice, and fries. We order for to go and while waiting for our food someone from the staff I believe from the kitchen sneezed times 2 very very VERY LOUD. Came here for late lunch with my wife and 16-month old without any research. We were touring the downtown area via the Metromover and Camila's is right next to the Knight Center station. It turned out that we hit the jackpot. The buffet is decently priced at $16.99 per adult and they serve various kinds of salads, fruits, rice, and proteins. My favorites are the Brazilian bbq steak, chicken hearts (I guess), plantains, stirred fried rice, and pasta. I tried almost every item they served and all taste good. Well-seasoned and freshly prepared. I have to say that this place is much better than the Brazilian place I visited in Framingham, MA. I will definitely recommend anyone who are in the downtown area to try this place. You don't have to pay the Texas de Brazil's rice to enjoy some Brazilian foods. read more

They also had a great selection of desserts. The picanha is definitely the best choice of meat there. Besides that they had sausage, chicken, and shrimp. I wish they had other cuts of meat to choose from but for the price and it being a buffet it was perfect. I would definitely come back. Parking across the street is validated in the restaurant and you end up paying $1.00.
