After the fact I found some great information about Galileo: -Galileo uses an "innovation approach" for teaching which is very similar to the design process taught at Stanford D-School and used by famous design strategy consultancies like IDEO. -It was voted one of the best places to work at in the Bay Area and you can see it in the optimism and quality of their staff and camp counselors. Our camp was at Walter Hays elementary school, pickup and drop off was very organized and the camp felt safe and secure with a high student/teacher ratio. We were part of the Olympic Games and Toymaker themed weeks and my son loved both weeks there. He talked about what they did everyday glowingly and came back with lots of interesting toys, gold courses, olympic torches, etc.. they had made. Ricky, the director went above and beyond when they forgot to pack my kids epi-pen the first week. Going out of his way to call us and giving us extended time to pick up the pen.

He loved everything about the camps...and so did I. The Space Camp was very realistic, well planned out and detailed. The props and special effects were amazing. My son came home every day excited to share all of the information he had learned that day about space, astronauts and rockets. We were very impressed with how educational the camp was. Throughout the week my son was so excited to gather little souvenirs from his experiences at the Space Camp and they are still among his most prized possessions. He was thrilled with all the special props he was able to use and with the space themed crafts he made. The Sports Camp was excellent. I really appreciated that it wasn't your typical sports camp. In addition to the typical sports you might see at a camp, the Imaginif Sports Camp also included archery, golf and rock climbing. I was so impressed that every skill the camp introduced was taught by a professional. It made the experiences very worthwhile for my son. He was exhausted when I picked him up each day. He gave it his all and loved every minute of it. The camp staff were so kind and enthusiastic. You could tell that the entire camp experience was planned with a lot of thought and attention to detail. The attention given to each child was impressive as well. We are so pleased with our experience with Imaginif, we will definitely be attending again.

My 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son participated in A-mazing Race, Space Camp, and Sports Camp and loved all of them. I signed them up for this camp because I was intrigued by the concept; now that my family has experienced Imaginif, I am happy to attest that it exceeded my expectations. Several aspects set Imaginif apart for me: the professional ambience that founders Sharon & David create with creative props and costumes, the intimacy of a family-run camp and relatively small group of campers that makes for a more personal experience, and the unique enrichment activities that are offered. On the latter, my husband and I also benefited from our kids' exposure to several of the enrichment activities. For example, Sharon & David organized a post-camp activity for campers and families to go to Moffett Field to launch the Estes rockets the kids had built at Space Camp. It was an unforgettable experience that our family would never have known about if not for Imaginif. Our kids can't wait to go back to Imaginif Camp next summer!

Some bball camps they have done have been very intense and some have been very casual -- this one was the perfect mix of bball skills as well as positive games on and off the court. My kids have also done Growth league and Small Group Training with Bald Eagle and we will definitely continue signing up with them. DesignX offers fashion design and related illustration, fabric and accessory classes, toy design, and product design. In the fashion class, the kids design and make an their own incredible outfit over the course of a week. The outfits are conceived as part of a collection (with a overarching unified color theme). The kids iterate their design ideas, create and sew their outfit complete with accessories, and present it in an exciting fashion show for their families at the end of the week! Each outfit is unique to each child, but work as part of the collection. As a home sewist, I can tell you that the sewing aspect of the fashion camp is set up for real success for the kids, even as they create unique outfits - the skills are age appropriate and build as they get older. 2nd and 3rd graders create skirts and modify t-shirts; 4th and 5th graders create tunics; 6th and 7th graders create more complex dresses and rompers. My husband and I are both professional designers. The design process taught at DesignX is great. The kids work through an iterative process that relates to what designers do in the real world. The fact that they express their personal creativity in real ways but are doing it within an overarching/relational theme speaks to the way designers work in the real world. My older daughter wore her tunic as a cover-up all last summer; I know she'll be wearing her new top with shorts. And my younger daughter will be wearing her skirt as well. We love DesignX camp, and my kiddos can't wait for next year!

The day is not specifically scheduled and kids have a chance to choose their own activities and where they want to go. I love the flexibility to drop off and pick up when you want; I love the refund policy. I love that they always, always check your ID when you check your kid out. There are rules and there are daily gatherings and traditions, which the kids like, but they have a lot of freedom. They often sprint through the doors so excited to be there. On countless occasions over many summers the counselors and Director have gone out of their way to help us with our specific issues. Highly recommend if you have an active kid or want an unstructured experience.

This camp is not, which I found out when I waited more than 20 minutes for the camp to find my 4 year old and was not allowed to go find him, even with staff escort. If the company wants to run the camps with radically different policies from the licensed centers, they can. But I think they should spell out that policy on their website, and then parents can ponder why the policies are different. One possibility is they might not want parents to look into a room and see a bunch of 4 year olds staring at iPad screens? Parents can easily roam the outside areas where campers are playing, just not the inside rooms or hallway. Otherwise the camp has been decent. My son talks about the iPads the most.

Both my children have "emerging" reading and writing skills and both have benefited greatly from this program. I have followed the curriculum closely at home and helped support them as well. It is fun, engaging and camp-like - so the kids think they are having fun learning. The end result has been that my kids are writing more fluidly in school. They feel more comfortable writing and have more confidence in their abilities. The middle school schedule is definitely more school-like than the elementary day to day, but they keep it fun with a diverse curriculum (from podcast to animatronics - other things too but I do not know them). I was also impressed with the owners (who are not local but obviously care about the students). Also, the site administrator was right on top of our (small) issues this year with line cutting and some emotional outbursts the first day or something. I had her check in on my middle schooler and get back to me to make sure he was okay. It was just great. Everything about this camp is awesome!

Seems like you can't get a job there if you aren't willing to learn every kid's name, and also willing to have shaving cream put on your head, or dance like a chicken. -- The director is really in sync with what makes a fun camp for kids; he has a clear vision in his head of what he wants this camp to be about, and it's just excellent. -- The camp runs in two week sessions, not one week, so the kids have more of a chance to get to know each other and their counselors -- Every single day starts with 4 or 5 counselors standing at the entrance and the paths to the rooms, saying, "Good morning" in the most cheerful, welcoming way, high-fiving the kids, asking silly trivia questions, whatever. So wonderful. - Every day ends with popsicles and story time, and you can see how relaxed and happy the kids are at pick-up time. -- It's the only camp where my boys FOR SURE know their counselors names, the counselors know them, and I really feel like the counselors care all day long, all week long about my boys having a fun time. It's the most expensive camp, but worth it every summer for at least one (if not two) sessions.

At one point 3 little girls were crying and saying they were lost.The leader of the group not in sight nor taking charge. Growing up in girl scouts group tradition these type of matters didn't happen. Never was there a situation nor a person in sight. The people that were in charge of the group seemed very nice and caring. Maybe it is a training issue within the company. This event happened about a year ago. But, somehow posted today.
