Although Camp Lucy is a beautiful place and might be good to go stay for a getaway. We did stay at the cabins and they were beautiful and check-in was very easy but I am mainly reviewing this as a venue not so much a Resort if that makes sense.I would highly highly not recommend it for a venue. We had our daughters wedding there in May and for the entire year prior the communication was so bad and so stressful. It is not cheap which is fine we knew that but for the money we paid we should have had top-notch customer service but we did not even have customer service. Getting in touch with our personal coordinator was nearly impossible and nothing was ever the fault of Camp Lucy. No apologies, never owned up to mistakes which were made many times. The place is absolutely beautiful but it is not worth the stress of trying to plan at an all inclusive venue where you cannot get any attention or communication from anyone there. I would recommend finding another place in that area. The wedding is only one day but the planning is a year or more and it is not worth it. read more

Our daughter got married this past weekend at Ian's Chapel, Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, TX and it was AMAZING! The staff at Camp Lucy and Whim Hospitality were EXCEPTIONAL. They provided some of the best customer service I have ever experienced and I retired from working in customer service based businesses and organization for 40+ years. Extremely professional, knowledgeable, listens to what YOU want, offers advice and the communication was very transparent. HUGE shout out to Tara Blackwell our Event Coordinator. She was exemplary and we are so blessed to have her work with us. I HIGHLY recommend Camp Lucy for your wedding or any other event you are planning. read more

We had my daughter's wedding at Sacred Oaks and it was fabulous! With a March wedding you never know what the weather will be, but it was 75 and sunny and we had nearly 200 people show up. Yes the venue is off the beaten path but that's what makes it so incredibly gorgeous and the layout of the reception area next to the venue with the back lawn, Bridal chambers and Groom's room was perfect! Tara Blackwell was our coordinator and she was fabulous! Very warm and caring and even helped us to locate a few items we left behind 5 days after the wedding! The place is a little pricy compared to what I paid 30 years ago, but it's in line with the other venues out that way and so much more beautiful which is why they are booked so far in advance (we had to wait over a year to get a Saturday date). At least one of the reviews commented that you had to use their florist and other things and that is not true. They have related (Whim) companies to do everything if you want, but we hired our own vendors for the flowers, the cake, the DJ, the Photographer and some of the rental items. We used their vendor Whim catering for the food and it was really good and they were on top of keeping the buffet table stocked! With the big wedding we booked every cottage plus the family house for the wedding party and immediate family and some had to double up in the rooms. The only downside was they need more cottages but I was told by the staff that they have plans to start 16 more and eventually make the place into a resort, so they are already on it! I was really impressed with the morning breakfast being a step up from most hotel continental breakfasts. there was either Bacon or Sausage and an egg quiche along with make your own waffles in addition to the muffins, juice and fruit and it was all good and the staff were all very nice and very helpful with any and all questions. Some of the reviews comment on lack of movie channels or a pool but seriously when you are out there with the oak trees and creek and all the nature, sitting around the rock fire pit is all you need to have a relaxing and great time. Thank goodness we had all the cottages rented because most the wedding party was up around the fire pit until 3am both nights having a great time! The cottage rooms are drop dead gorgeous with the wood and stone work and the bathrooms would make any luxury hotel jealous! The family house is not near the cottages which may have been a good thing with everyone up so late at night, but the house is totally renovated with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a pull out bed in the living room (6 total beds) and a full kitchen with a nice back porch to sit while eating breakfast. If you want an unforgettable wedding in a beautiful outdoor place, Sacred Oaks fits the bill! read more

We recently stayed on property at Camp Lucy for a board retreat. First of all the accommodations are drop dead amazing. The decor is beautiful, they are spacious and they are so perfectly arranged for the most comfortable stay. The attention to detail on site is carried through with every single aspect of the property, but the delight you have when you notice them all is the best! Not only is the property and the accommodations top notch, their service team is second to none. Their philosophy at this place is to take pride in all of the small things, and it comes through in everything that they do! Each person working there has such a great attitude and everyone is so happy to help! You can tell they love what they do!! I had my wedding here recently and had a great experience. Robin was very helpful throughout the process and on the actual wedding day. I dinged it bc they don't water their grass and it looks very dry and brown. I really expected them to maintain their grass at a minimum especially considering they are a wedding venue and the appearance is everything. Otherwise no complaints. Beautiful place and the architecture and the stories behind them are amazing. Be sure to read the fine print bc they have a lot of add on fees that I thought were questionable. read more

However, they did not lock the bridal cottage during the ceremony and reception and when it was time to leave, I found that I had hundreds of dollars stolen out of my "getaway bag" that i was taking on my honeymoon. There was a staff member that was the only person witnessed entering the cottage to clean it up (during the reception) who also threw away my marriage license as part of the "clean up." I contacted Camp Lucy multiple times about my frustration with everything and they not only blew me off but basically denied that their employee was the one who was in the cottage "cleaning." A little professionalism would have been nice or maybe just a sincere apology. I would never recommend this place to anyone that I liked. read more

We've never been to Camp Lucy for a private event, but we've been to their supper club and it's great! The Sacred Oaks grounds is breathtakingly beautiful and makes for a lovely stroll before dinner. The service, food and drinks from start to finish is excellent! Seating was open with communal tables which we loved. This family owned property has it going on! The staff was amazing and as you know the staff is the "face" and sets the tone for your overnighter, photo shoot or wedding. They were so curtious and accommodating. Very knowledgeable about the area and local watering holes. My fiance and I are having our wedding here in April 2016. Overall, the place is nice, but everything being included is NOT a great thing. The catering alone is $11,000 (we were originally quoted fifteen with what we wanted, which they discussed with us MONTHS AFTER they had us sign the contract) and that is with the bare minimum for our guests. This price was NOT explained to us during the initial meeting when we had to sign the contract, and absolutely no outside food is allowed unless it is a dessert. Were it not for the contract and all the invitations being sent out already, we would be changing venues. If price is not a problem for you, then this venue is absolutely perfect. read more

The rooms and property were very beautiful! The front desk couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. We had to get ready for the wedding in the bride and grooms cottage to save time before getting into the bridal suite closer to the venue. 13 girls in one room...it got messy to say the least. The cleaning staff had finished up early before we were done so one of the girls at the front desk was sweet enough to tidy up the cottage for the big night once we were finished. I am finally getting around to reviewing vendors, etc. that we engaged for our wedding. Normally, I do not write reviews but, I wanted to share our experiences with other couples in the midst of wedding planning in the hopes of being some help. Our experience with Camp Lucy was pretty great. We absolutely adore the venue and thought it was beautiful!! Our guests loved it. My only complaint is that, when we booked the venue, Camp Lucy did not have an in house catering team, which I believe they do now. At the time, they had a list of approved vendors that you had to use for catering. While I know this is standard for the industry, none of the vendors on the list could accommodate the dietary requirements of our family and friends. Still, we were required to pay a hefty outside catering fee and a kitchen use fee. In addition, the night before the wedding, while I was about to head to one of my events, I received a call stating that we were not allowed to use the kitchen, though we had already paid a fee to do so. I referred Camp Lucy back to the relevant clause in our contract and the matter was quickly resolved but I definitely think that they should have raised the issue long before the wedding and, referred back to our contract, if they had any additional questions on the night before. That said, Diane was our main point of contact leading up to the wedding and she was very pleasant and polite, and we enjoyed working with her. I think our wedding happened before the cottages were completed but we saw the few that they had finished and were in use and thought they were beautiful. In addition, the staff was pretty great, overall, and I would definitely recommend the venue! read more

SO DISSAPOINTING! If I could give negative stars, I would! My husband and I fell in love with the venue when we went to visit, and knew we wanted to get married here. We scheduled for an availability they had open in 3 months. After around week 2 (after we signed our contract), our emails, calls, and any form of contact were repeatedly ignored. Our Account manager Alex (be prepared to pay a hefty "Administrative fee" on EVERYTHING, we ended up spending over a grand on this alone!) was always "out of the office" or "away from the phone", so we had a huge delay on getting the ball rolling, and it never got any better. When we finally contacted her manager Jennifer a few weeks before the wedding, she seemed like she would take care of things, but then dismissed our case without ever really looking into it, and assigned Alex back to us. If the lack of communication and professionalism was the worst of it, I would have had a much better review to give. The costs were outrageous for what we were getting. We ended up paying for a lot of extras and additional staffing fees for a wedding of an expected 50 people. We are a young couple and wanted to try and stick to a budget, but Camp Lucy made that extremely hard! For those looking to have a wedding on a budget, this is NOT the place for you!! We spent more than $14,000 out of our $23,000 budget at this Venue alone. Despite a lot of extra crap we had to deal with from Camp Lucy, we were hoping to put that behind us and look forward to our big day, but when the day of our wedding arrived, it was so disappointing, I wanted to cry. When we first got there, the wedding from the day before had not been cleaned up, the groom and bridal suite were both trashed and had not been sanitized, and there was a bunch of left over furniture from the night before. Later I found out that Alex, although she was there when we arrived, up and disappeared for the majority of the morning, leaving my husband to try and get the staff to move the furniture, clean up, and do their jobs. The majority wouldn't listen to him since Alex wasn't there. When my mother arrived, she had to track Alex down, and tell her to do her job. From there until the Ceremony, everything was speeding up and things were being dealt with by the groom and the mother of the bride, mainly. After our ceremony, we went to get photos done during cocktail hour. There were also wasps everywhere. I, and a few of my guests, are deathly allergic, and we were never notified! They ended up swarming the guests during cocktail hour. We ended up having only 30ish people show up sadly, but even with that many people, EVERYONE GOT FOOD POISINING. I found out later that the food was put out on the buffet table around noon, and the reception wasn't until 6pm! Due to this, we spent the whole night on the toilet. After the Wedding, when we contacted the venue, we spoke with the sales manager who assured us we would be reimbursed. We weren't expecting anything big, but given that the catering gave everyone food poising, we had hoped for a slight reimbursement on that. I tried calling more than 10 times since our wedding, and was finally told "We don't give refunds", despite what we were told by the sales manager. Overall it was so chaotic and unnecessarily stressful, it absolutely ruined our big day. I would never recommend Camp Lucy to anyone who is looking for decent customer service on a budget. If you do go with them, find a great day of coordinator in advance. read more

Worth every penny. My husband and I fell in love with the Sacred Oaks venue at first sight (pictures don't do it justice)... but we were a little hesitant about the price and having to use Whim Hospitality for florals and catering at first. We made the right choice going with Camp Lucy/Whim!! Our the flowers were Pinterest level perfect, the food was delicious unlike your typical "rubber chicken dinner", and the staff was an absolute delight. So many things were included in our rental cost and having Whim partnered with Camp Lucy made logistics 10x easier. There are a lot of wedding venues in the Austin/Dripping Springs area but Camp Lucy is special. read more

I first saw Sacred Oaks when I was looking for a venue with my sister a few years ago, and it was not quite finished yet. I could tell it was going to be spectacular though, and as soon as we got engaged, we made an appointment to visit. The oak trees are breathtaking and the cocktail hour lawn and the reception hall is just beautiful! Needless to say, I whole-heartedly believe that this is the most beautiful venue around. When we visited (two weeks after we got engaged, and a year out of our ideal wedding date) they only had Fridays and Sundays available at both sites until mid-summer. We went with a Friday though, which ended up being perfect for us and our families. They encourage you to use Whim for catering, florals, and rentals because they work very closely with them and make everything so easy. We indeed used Whim for everything, and Camp Lucy has a unified billing setup that makes payment and tracking payments SO easy. We also rented out all of the cottages for both Thursday and Friday (our wedding was on a Friday evening) and that was the best part of the entire weekend. All of our friends and family were together, they provided s'mores for us by the fire pit each night, complimentary breakfast that is incredible, and we just had the best time. The staff at the cottages were so kind and caring and helpful, and they even had someone working the front desk throughout the nights just in case anyone ever needed anything. One of our attendants locked herself out of her cottage at 2 am and got a key right away :) We were slightly worried about having to shift everything inside because of inclement weather, but it was a beautiful day and cleared off in perfect time for them to get everything set up for us! The getting-ready facilities on site are also just gorgeous and perfect for beautiful photos. Shelby was our Manager On Duty for our day and was incredible. She's spunky and fun and super positive and helpful, and helped us get everything together wonderfully. Thanks to Campy Lucy, everything was everything we ever hoped it would be. read more

Love this venue! My husband and I own a videography company and have shot several weddings out there. The views are beautiful, the chapel is snug but nice and the grounds make it easy to get gorgeous shots. The wedding coordinator I worked with was very sweet and went out of her way to help us to set up in the tight, little chapel. I definitely would recommend it. read more

As a mother of the bride I experienced Camp Lucy from another perspective. The venue was beautiful, no question. The staff was most helpful. However the lodging was terrible. We stayed at a family cottage that was in sad shape. The decorations did not match, the lamps were broken, One of our beds was literally broken. Decorations from previous celebrations actually fell out from behind the pictures. The kitchen floor had not been swept adequately. I know, all little things that add up. . .considering the price and the hype it did not meet my standards. The only reason I did not give it one star is because I noticed the other lodgings were definitely nicer than ours. The pictures on the website are a bit misleading. I would not recommend this as a venue due to this alone. Considering the price it did not match up. You take your chances here. read more

While the journey may be bumpy the destination is smooth, sophisticated. It could have been the hang over or the gravel backwoods roads leading to Camp Lucy but when we arrived I just needed a bathroom. That is the only reason I give this palce 4 stars instead of 5. It took me about 10 minutes to find a bathroom that wasn't in the bride or grooms houses. Other than well hidden bathrooms this place is one fo the most spiritual union ceremony venues I've ever been! I was lucky enough to actually officiate the wedding for my friends, the AV people were great, got me set up with a mic that worked great. The venue coordinator, Kim, was helpful and always coming by to see that our needs were met. One question that remained unanswered was regarding crystals that stick out of an arched pagoda in the corner of the grounds. The crystals stick out from the rest of the arch in a downward turn toward a specific point on the ground and I know there has to be some symbolic meaning to that point but no one had an explanation. The architecture is inspiring and left me full of wonder. Check out the history on the space- VERY COOL! It was a church in Vietman, owned by the French, then purchased by a Texan and shipped to Austin. The hand carved wood is worth the trip out to Dripping Springs. I'm getting married there soon and the place is gorgeous. However, I just saw the other day that they have a HUGE FOAM sound barrier that covers the entire view of the hill country. A month ago they had an open house and my fiance and I went out there for some last minute pictures. There was a house at the bottom of the hill that was blaring their music. I'm assuming there was enough complaining for Camp Lucy to construct this sound barrier which looks terrible. We would have never chosen this place with that hideous eyesore. . After viewing a few venues in Houston, my heart was really wanting to say our "I do's" in Hill County. Our family is from out of state and we really wanted to show them the beauty of Texas! It's a quaint quiet location up in the hills so you have beautiful scenery overlooking a working ranch. Just by looking at pictures, and this venue being my only Hill Country appointment, I knew it was going to be an easy "yes" for me! Diane Hutchinson gave us a beautiful tour of both options and since our wedding was intimate (60 guests) we decided that Ian's Chapel would fit everyone perfectly! BONUS! If you want an outdoor wedding, there is a magnitude of ceremony option locations! We booked a year in advance, and on a Monday which turned out to be the best idea ever financially! Ashley Rousseau seamlessly answered my questions revised our proposal a few times. We were set free to start the planning process and Sabrina Read was our Manager on Duty and she helped us perfect our wedding day for the remainder of the planning process. Big Kudo's to Sabrina for going above and beyond and gathering as much history as she could for us so we could prepare a history blurb to our guests for cocktail hour. I booked one onsite cottage for me and my girls to get ready in! We showed up day-of, grabbed yummy breakfast food & coffee from their breakfast buffet and took it back to our cottage. The cottage girls also brought a lovely fruit tray to our cottage while we got ready! Since Camp Lucy is in the country, we all stayed at the Austin Marriott South (free shuttle to downtown for our guests) and my husband and I booked a private bus for our guests to safely get to-and-from Camp Lucy. It was a perfect decision and all transportation companies are aware of Camp Lucy's location as well as that uphill climb! You really can't go wrong with booking here, we couldn't not be happier with our decision and our guests continuously tell us how beautiful our wedding day was! read more

The good is that this venue is really pretty and gorgeous for a wedding. Be very aware though that it is very pricey and the price does not stop with the very high booking fee. You have to use their florist, their caterers and their rentals. It all adds up to a very expensive venue. They say the chapel can hold 200 people but make sure you really investigate that - I just don't think it is possible. It is all business here - no warm and fuzzy wedding feelings from the staff like some other places I visited. Also be sure to read the contract very carefully before you sign it. They have cottages out there which are nice but expensive and there is absolutely nothing to do out there and it is really far from everything. No pool, hot tub or anything. At the end of the day, your wedding is the most important and expensive day you will probably ever have and there are better places in the hill country to have it than here. read more

Sacred Oaks at Camp Lucy is a magical, fairytale venue! The setting is beautiful, elegant, and simply enchanting. We were blessed with the most beautiful weather, for February. The staff at Camp Lucy went above and beyond to make everything perfect! When I first heard of Camp Lucy, all the reviews talked about how wonderful the food was. The food is amazing, our guests were so impressed by the dinner being gourmet and so wonderful. The staff was flawless and did everything in their power to accommodate any requests. Shelby, our onside manager, took such good care of us and kept on top of everything. They worked beautifully with our wedding planners, and did everything they could to make sure the evening went as planned! I would have ten more weddings here if I had anyone else to get married - this place is fabulous!! It has the entire package, beautiful ceremony space, gorgeous outdoor spaces, patios, and the inside venue is amazing! Even the brides and grooms room are above and beyond - a great place to hang out! Our guests were enchanted by the drive up to the venue and then what a treasure was hidden in the hills.
