Me and my mom went to Pathfinder Ranch for a few days in the winter for a field trip and it was so…read moremuch fun! First of all, our naturalists name was Kestrel. She was amazing and made sure that we were all having a good time. We did many activities such as archery and canoeing. All the naturalists put down very strict rules to ensure everybody's safety. Here is a list of all the activities our group did (keep in mind that the activities that your group will partake in will be different depending on what your school bought): making a fire activity, compass activity, night hike, shelter building activity, rock climbing, team challenge, farm, herpetology, mad science fair, gold hill hike, canoeing, horse back riding, and archery. This is the schedule that I went through. Lights on was at 7:00 am, but some woke up earlier to shower. Then breakfast began at around 7:30 and went until 8:00, then we went to do one activity with our activity group after a 15 minute break period. After that activity we would go to lunch from around 11:45-12:30 (I don't remember the exact times those are just an estimate). Then we would go do two more activities with a 15 minute break between the two. We would have dinner around 5:15-6:00. After dinner we would have 1 hour of free time to talk with our friends or go play in the rec room (you should bring a card/board game to play with your friends, I brought twister!). After the hour (so around 7) you would do a night activity. One example of this is the night hike. After the night activity, which is normally an hour long, we went to bed. Lights went out at 9! The schedule was so compact that me and my friends were never bored. Something was always happening, and you were always having fun! The cabin situation was as you would expect for 30 or so kids in one room. It was really chaotic. I would recommend bringing some ear plugs, because the talking was no joke. In the middle of the night it was funny, but once you had to wake up at 7 to go on a 3 hour long hike it wasn't anymore. In each cabin, there were two wings where students would sleep, with one chaperon sleeping area in the middle. Each wing had about 15 bunk beds. In each cabin there were also two bathrooms, which all contained three stalls, three sinks, and three showers. The bathrooms were very clean which I and everybody else who had to use them appreciated. Now for the food. For the taste, it was a hit or miss. Here is a list of some things that we were given (I might have forgotten some): fried chicken, pizza, burgers, tacos, barbecue chicken, pasta, brownies, cookies, and s'mores. The only two meals that I didn't like were the fried chicken and pasta. I did appreciate the salad bar that they had available for any kids who didn't like the food served though. They had a system of having a kid chosen everyday from the table to serve as the "waiter" (they were called a hopper), which I liked as well. If the pitcher needed refilling or there wasn't anymore food on the table the hopper would go and take care of it. Overall, the whole experience was super fun! Though I barely got any sleep, it was a small price to pay for all the fun I had with my friends. 5 stars, will definitely never forget!!

Our group went on a two-night weekend getaway, parent and child. I was very nervous before the…read moretrip. I hadn't experienced such a trip in the US. I knew there was no cell phone service at the camp, but you could get satellite reception and send a message. There's a phone at the camp for emergencies. The camp is in the mountains; you wake up to birdsong in the morning, and at night you enjoy the starry sky. A family of deer even came to our place for breakfast that morning. Activities for the kids (the adults joined in too) included canoeing and hiking up the mountain. Don't worry, the mountain isn't too high and the hike is easy, and as a bonus, there's cell phone reception. There was also archery, swimming, and art. In the evening, we had a wonderful evening with a campfire, singing, and roasted marshmallows. The staff was wonderful. Special thanks for the snack truck. It showed up perfectly on time, just when you were already thinking about grabbing a bite. Before you could even think about it, a car would pull up next to you and offer you a snack. The singing and jokes around the campfire were also wonderful. Unfortunately, I don't have many photos without other children that I can upload to my review, but I hope the ones I have help convey the camp atmosphere. Thank you, we really enjoyed it!

My fiance and I rented out Camp Nawakwa for our wedding in late August 2019. We knew we wanted a…read moresummer camp wedding and after touring several camps in the LA area, we choose Nawakwa. We had a small wedding (about 75 guests) with a lot of young kids and babies. I could not be happier with Nawakwa as a wedding venue. The entire camp is gorgeous, as are the surrounding woods and mountains, and the ceremony site in particular was breathtaking - the photographer couldn't get enough pictures of everything. Even more important, the entire staff was tremendously kind, helpful, and friendly, from the manager Patrick ("Puzzle") to everyone who prepared our meals, ran the programs, and generally kept the camp running. Our guests couldn't say enough good things about the entire weekend. We live two hours away in Los Angeles so we weren't able to make frequent trips to Nawakwa before the wedding to see to things in person, but Patrick was extremely accommodating and communicative over phone and email so we were able to have everything in place even though we were planning at a distance. I absolutely recommend Nawakwa to anyone looking for a beautiful, rustic wedding venue that's also very family-friendly. (I'll add photos once they come back from the photographer.)

The campers and staff receive three generous meals a day. The activities prepared for the campers are challenging and exciting. I think the best part of this camp is the focus on Jesus. If its your first time just know youll be there for a couple of hours. The only con I would say is they dont allow strollers inside the buildings (theres a parking area for them in the front if needed). So if you have a baby make sure to bring a baby carrier. I value that the school follows a set curriculum and that my daughters are also learning Spanish. The structure is wonderful, and I appreciate how their learning at school reinforces the values and teachings we focus on at home. In full transparency, the beginning was a bit challenging. Since my girls were only two at enrollment, they were frequently sick during the first six months and missed quite a bit of school, which required me to rely heavily on my mother-in-law during that time. I also felt that the two-year-old classroom experienced a higher level of staff turnover, making it difficult to keep track of who their teachers were. That said, now that my daughters are older, there is much more stability in their current classroom, and they are truly thriving. Overall, I am very happy with the school and the growth I have seen in my girls. Special shout out to the amazing Miss Nay and Miss Tiffany! My girls adore you!

The one in picture in a past post is the easier one closer to camp. The first river tho is a danger, it is all loose big rocks and hidden dips. Water was not so deep but no flat grounding. I had a sedan and rock punctured my transmission pan. Now my car is stuck in big bear for few days at a auto garage to replace pan. Unless u have at least 8" clearance i wouldnt drive to this camp, wish i knew as its a costly repair and car stuck on mountain. I can give feedback from the girls as there was alot of complaints but really just wanna warn others in sedans.

Options are available for one week, two or even eight weeks. My kids, who are 6,8,9, loved it. They got to bike ride in nature while observing bugs and insects, lizard hunting, fencing, climbing, archery, ziplining, watersliding and horseback riding. Pretty much everything that they won't be able to do with me. O.O I was surprised that my 6 yrs old loved it and none of my kids were excited of me picking them up. Lol. The owner, "Crazzy" Craig, was very pleasant and responsive to phone call. He would give me update for the first three days by phone if we called him. There were lots of paperwork in the beginning and we need to send $500 deposit for each kid, with remaining balance due on the day of. They only accept check or cash. All the counselors were friendly and sweet. The kids got option to prefer top or bottom of the bunk bed and they would be placed together with other kids that was about the same age as them.
