Review of Camp Ticonderoga on Rochester Rd in Troy. This is Oakland county. No pictures, sorry. Atmosphere: 9/10. It is a beautiful old lodge with tongue and groove paneling, fireplaces and cute rustic vibe. Service: 2.5/10. We arrived and no one was at the hostess stand. We waited about 3 minutes before an old woman came because the phone was ringing off the hook. I said we were 3 and please no hi-top since one was handicapped. She snapped at me and said they don't have hi-tops. Well, from the door where we were standing all we could see was a HI-TOP! She very grumpily led us to a table. I asked if we could more closer to the fireplace and she was very angry and said it was for a 10 top. Um, the table sat 4 and there were open tables everywhere. We weren't even on the same level as the fireplace. So I wasn't sure what the problem was. During our time there, she stomped around like a bull in a China shop. She moved a table without clearing it, dropping the centerpiece and there was broken glass everywhere. She snapped at another patron that was trying to help her pick up the metal pieces. After we had eaten, they were still not busy, she came to us and said how are we doing on time? She wants the table for a request. Again, there were open tables all around us, even if there was a larger party, there were 5 open tables around us. The hostess gets 0/10. She should not be doing that job. Our server gets 5/10. He got the job done. Nothing special. Just the bare minimum. Food: 8/10. There were 3 of us. We each got the French onion soup which was rather blah. It was not rich, nor did it have a lot of onion. It needed seasoning for sure. Glad there was salt on the table. Two of us had the Maurice salad. It came with a muffin which was excellent. I had never had one before and thought it was very good. The other person thought it was good, but not as good as Macy's used to have. My husband ordered the Bison burger. He said it was cooked properly, but it was just OK. They serve it without any kind of dressing. He asked and received a side of homey mustard and that made it better. The homemade fries were quite good. Overall 6/10. Would I go back? Probably not for a long time. I expect better service in an establishment of that caliber. read more

Best steak and food everrr!!!! Our waiter cody the best! So kind and quick with our order the dish decorated with delicacy . Attention and love was put into our plate. The manager is the kindest, always greets with a warm smile. The view and ambiance is very nice, I recommend the outside patio where you can play golf and have fun as well as just eat and enjoy the sunset with the fairy lights making a magical statement. Absolutely horrible. The manager Iris is the rudest least professional individual I've ever met in hospitality. She has no business being in the service industry or ANY position in which she deals with humans. There was no AC during a special event for over 35 women. It had been nonfunctional for a week and the event hosts were never notified. It was 88 degrees in the upstairs area, no fans, no apology. Nothing. When confronted she threatened to call the police. The food was decent and the waitress a sweetheart but she was miserable in those conditions as well. DO NOT frequent this restaurant. Everyone was soaked with sweat including a 92 yr old woman celebrating her pregnant granddaughters first baby. Pitiful excuse for a restaurant or event venue. Too many other options to give this place your money. read more

My first time here and will likely be my last. Love Moose Preserve, and heard this place had the same owners, so thought I'd give it a try. Walked in on a Thursday, was about half full. Waited at the hostess stand (no biggie) but someone walked up to me and asked if I had been helped yet. When I told her "no", she said nothing and walked away into the kitchen. Just a strange interaction but ok. The service was quick and friendly but the food was terrible. Every entree was served luke warm, and the pot roast was terrible. Gristly and dry, with lumpy gelatinous gravy. Yuck. No one in our group of 4 was happy with their food, which was insanely overpriced for the quality. The ambiance was nice at least! read more

HOLY SHIT. How can a place go from being so good to so awful in such a short time. New ownership forgot to bring in any restaurant skills. We had 6 people and 5 different meals that were terrible plus 3 appetizers that were inedible. I felt sorry for the waitress. I knew we were in trouble when we walked in and hardly anyone was there but it still took 10 minutes to sit. I can't see this place making it, we won't ever go back. One entre was overly salty. But she never checked on us, so we took it to management and they took it off the bill. Our server was in her third day and could not figure out how to refill our beverages. Our nine drinks were empty or almost empty before we asked for refills. She carried her purse on a strap that hindered her serving the food. Who carries their purse while serving?? Too bad. It could have been good. I was sadly disappointed. Where do you start? I had came here years ago with friends and then a friend had her rehearsal dinner here. So not a regular but enough to know what I thought I was getting into. This has Moose Preserve style written all over it.. just more dusty. The interior needed some updating.. Even as a comfy cabin type restaurant, it needed a good cleaning. Onto the food. I got a Maurice since that seems to be my thing lately. It was ok. We also got the meatloaf. Again, just ok. Nothing fantastic about the meal. I even tried to round out my dinner with creme brûlée.. (I always ask if I can tap, tap, tap on the top-- iykyk. It did, one small tap. Total disappointment. One word for this visit: Unimpressed. Glad to try it again. What a let down! I knew there was gonna be trouble when I approached the hostess stand, and they seemed not to recognize my reservation. They sat us in a nice table anyway, but then proceeded to move us to a cramped table five minutes later, stating that they had made a mistake. Service was pathetic. My fish sandwich had a small single piece of overcooked, overly battered fried fish on a giant bun. The fries were cold. I literally got half of a pickle spear. Are whole pickle spears too expensive? Every single person at the table felt their food was mediocre at best. Expensive, too. Definitely will not be back. read more

The last I visited Camp Ticonderoga I had a buffalo burger and got ill. I am wary about returning here

We went here for our company Christmas dinner. We had the igloo, there was already issues with booking the igloo; our office called months in advance and when we called to confirm they had no clue what we were talking about. We had never been there before and when we walked in the host or waitress (not sure of her title) was very nasty when my coworkers were asking where the igloo was. Instead of walking us to it She aggressively pointed towards the patio and yelled "it's that way". As we opened the door 2 carry out containers blew on the ground they did not pick them up. In fact as I went to the bathroom I seen the same 2 carry out containers back on the ledge to be given to a customer. The waitress forgot our waters, when the appetizers (terrible btw) were brought out the server dropped a frying pan onto my coworkers drink and had the whole table wet the entire time, and when they brought out the food it was terrible. I don't think there was one person that finished their meal and only 1 person took home a box (she said it was not good at home either). Overall this place was very bad. What's happened? The same Maurice salad I've gotten for years is not the same. Everyone (6 of us) said the food was mediocre at best. And when the plate of cookies arrived the consensus was "what happened to the delicious homemade warm chocolate chip cookies ?!" Now they're served cold and straight out of a package. They may be a little bigger than they were before, but no where as good. Everyone took one bite and left the rest of the cookie untouched. Never would have been a crumb left previously. Sorry to see the new owner and new management cheapen up the quality of the food. read more

There aren't many places where you can get this much log cabin ambiance and great room ceiling height and fireplaces for a casual dinner, so this is always a standout spot for me. Aside from the cozy Grand cabin ambiance, the food is delish and fresh with a great local and seasonal beer selection on draft at all times. The food themes definitely lean toward the wild hunt category with options like venison chili and bison burger. However, there are options for vegetarians as well, but don't try to push too far into the vegan category unless you just want to stick with salad and beer (vegans still drink fermented yeast microbes, right?!) Great for a date, after work drink by the fire, or indulgent gooey chocolate chip cookies to share with friends as a night cap. Give the kitchen some time- this isn't fast food- it's freshly made. read more

Food was bad. I had a chicken quesadilla that had overcooked dry chicken. It was awful. I was with others and didn't want to make a big deal over the tasteless food. I did want to give feedback and tried calling the phone number and speak to a manager, but that didn't work when I chose that option on their phone system. read more

My family, friends, and I always have great food and service at Camp Ticonderoga in Troy, MI. We enjoy the warm atmosphere.

Ticonderoga used to be one of our favorite places to eat but not after today! I'm guessing we probably won't be back there at all after Father's Day was ruined there. First, we waited 20 minutes for someone to even greet us at the door and get us seated (and we had reservations). Then the server took another 10 minutes or more to even come to the table to take drink orders. When she finally showed up, we ordered drinks and a couple appetizers..hot pretzels. Then she went away...for a LONG time. She eventually came back to take our orders...still no appetizer, though. When we FINALLY got our appetizer, about 45 minutes later, it was served WITH our food order. So...?? We all ate appetizers WITH our meals. Ridiculous! Anyway, not only have they raised their prices quite a bit, but the food quality and the service (definitely) has really gone downhill. I was disappointed that my fish and chips was supposed to be cod and only one piece was. The other two pieces (tiny BTW) were definitely perch and definitely not what I ordered. Since 3 out of 5 of us had the fish, oh well. Anyway...it was good while it lasted, but I think we're all done with Ticonderoga...unfortunately. The restaurant is located on a golf course. It has a nice covered patio. Food is typical bistro fare. The interior is designed to look like a lodge of hunting camp. When you walk in you see a wall of dog pictures. I assume the owners must be dog lovers . Not a bad place to grab dinner or lunch. Camp Ticonderoga is a cool place. I love the lodge vibe of the restaurant and the menu reflects that same with things like Buffalo, salmon, steaks, and I think even venison. The food is good. I've ate there many times. Most recent visit I had the Maurice salad which was excellent. I think the prices are fair and the staff is friendly Although I've never sat outside, they have a nice outdoor patio area too. The restaurant sits on a golf course so the view is very nice. First of all, the people that work here are awesome! Our waiter was great and took great care of us. Everyone else, from the hostess to the people who brought out the food were so nice. The decor was really nice too. But the food.....not so good. Started with a French onion soup, it was nothing special. But the perch entree was just awful! 4 small pieces of thin, DRY fish. It was incredibly bad. The beans it came with were nice, but with that fish anything was good! The plate also came with a ton of fries, which were fine, but I still can't get over how bad the fish was, thankfully there was very little of it. My wife's Caesar salad was bland according to her. We didn't complain but our awesome waiter comped us out to go carrot cake we ordered. The piece we got, which according to the menu was $10, was incredibly small and looked funny. I felt uneasy about trying to it because it looked so strange. My forkful was not good. I know this place is under new ownership, and we LOVE its old sister restaurant Moose Preserve, but this experience was a huge disappointment. read more

Went here for dinner. We used to more often and always had a good experience. This tim I ordered the ribs as usual but they were tough as nails and a struggle to cut through with the provided knife. Had lunch at Camp Ti today, have been eating here for 50 years. Was informed Camp TI is under new ownership . We ordered a drink during Happy Hour where the word menu stated, well drinks, beer and Alex wines half off. From this menu under WINES in bold black letters, the 1st wine listed was Alex Prosecco. We all ordered Maurice salads as well. When our bill came our prosecco was full price($11). we explained to the server, that alex wines were half price, as listed. She went to check and came back saying her manager said Prosecco was not a wine , although it was listed under the WINES list. We asked to speak with the manager . She came over immediately saying Prosecco was not a wine. We were trying to point out it was very misleading as it was the first wine listed under wine. She did not have good customer service or communication skills. I was a manager for 25 years and she was rude and short and did not even attempt to recognize our concern. She was not pleasant and very prickly. She left and we asked our server, Katia, for the managers name. She said she could not give us her name. So we asked to have her return as we wanted to file a complaint to her boss. She returned said her name was Iris, no apology , no kindness and rude tone and body langusge. We asked for her bosses name, and number. She said the owner was Steve and the only one above her and the number she gave us was to the bar as we heard the phone ring when we called and were told Steve could not be reached. Obviously we won't be returning. Wanted Steve to know his general manager lacks the abilities to deal with the public professionally and appropriately. The server Katia was lovely and did a great job! The salad was smaller than before new owner and did not have a muffin as it did previously and was also standard on the Hudsons Maurice salad ( the original Maurice). The salad was good. Also FYI PROSECCO is listed as a white wine on google. read more

Horrible service. Food took over 30 minutes for a salad with chicken and a sandwich. The portions were fine but my daughter couldn't even mix up the ingredients in her salad and there was no room on the plate. It was ridiculous. You guys have no idea what you are doing and every other table was complaining as well. It was 1:30pm on a Tuesday so it wasn't that busy either. And the meals were way too expensive to boot. $50 total with for a sandwich and salad at lunch???? That's a joke. NEVER going again. Avoid this place. read more

OMG! What a disaster! I guess I just follow the trend here and give my 5 cents to it. Unfortunately, I have to give it one star to do my review, this one is off the scale to the left at minus -100! - The host: she admitted that she was new. Well, she chose definitely the wrong profession. The outside deck was not recommended by her due to bees. Why is nobody taken care of this issue? We were seated inside and the table needed to be cleaned before we could sit down, restaurant occupation at that time 30%. All the tables around us looked like a bomb exploded and nobody seemed to bother. - We waited 15 min until we asked the waitress from the next table to get us a waiter; as it turned out she was the one. - The waitress: like the host, she picked the wrong profession or had already reached the top of her carrier ladder. Her attitude was unreal, she spilled water all over us, cussed while finally taking our order. After we finished our dinner, she made all attempts to get us out and pay as quick as we can. Also, her overall waiting skills desired pretty much everything. - The restaurant over all: not clean, cleaning supplies staged in clear view next to and on top of condiments. I really wonder what the kitchen looks like, maybe the health department should schedule an unscheduled inspection. - The food: I would call it average but definitely downgraded from the previous owner's greatness. Overall, we were coming here for years and loved it; unfortunately, this came to an end yesterday evening. We will not be back! The place is doomed under the new ownership. We have visited this establishment many times prior and always been five stars . We made reservations for 5:30 Christmas Eve. The employee at the hostess stand, said they were triple booked so we would have to wait a little while. Finally sat down at 6, escorted up stairs , which they generally don't have seating she said only for catered events Our waiter asked for our patience , he said the kitchen was way behind and not enough bartender's . he also said it's hard because he has to go up two flights of stairs to bring everything. We had two children with us under the age of seven and were finally served our meal at 8:30, which mostly was cold and underwhelming . They no longer serve a muffin with the Maurice salad. He told us it was because of food cost. ‍ He apologized, but it should've been brought to management's attention how long we waited and should've been compensated or offered a free plate of cookies, especially for the children , whom had very cold noddles I understand that they have new management and menus service has changes accordingly . Oh my goodness did we love this place. Enjoyed a cozy Valentine's Day dinner here; perfect, wintery ambiance that gave us the vibe like we weren't even in Michigan. I ordered the salmon, my boyfriend ordered a bison-meat loaf monstrosity that took him 3 meals to finish off. It's awesome when the food is a good price, and there's still leftovers from a heart meal. The staff was very friendly. We can't wait to go back! P.S. they do their own house version of a Bloody Mary (Bloody Moose) and did that make me feel all warm and wonderful inside. It's a MUST order if you're a Bloody Mary fan. read more

Food was greasy. Patty melt was cooked okay but greasy. Onion soup had some weird flavor not sure if it was the cheese or croutons.

This has been a family favorite for years, but disappointed in a few of the changes. The unique and yummy curved french fries are gone, replaced by generic fries. Salmon sandwich is gone, some of our meals had smaller portions than in the past. The jerk chicken pasta is still excellent, but they no longer give a side of garlic bread with it. Sometimes it is the little things that drop a favorite location a few pegs down on your list. The chocolate chip cookies have had a change in pricing, order portion, as well as flavor. I did appreciate our waitress letting us know about the cookie portion change. She was very attentive, kept our waters full and thanked us for coming in. The atmosphere inside is still excellent, a cozy feel for dinner. read more

We had a wedding reception for my granddaughter at this place. When we arrived the place was dirty there was a person there but she didn't know what to do. The upstairs room where the reception was sweltering,the beer was warm and flat. She ordered fettuccine Alfredo and got noodles w butter and Parmesan cheese ( no sauce ) and dried out chicken strips. We have gone to CT for over ten years. However, the service has gone downhill. Tonight, the staff sat us on the patio during a storm warning. When we asked to move to an inside table, we were told we would have to wait an hour over the 20 minutes we'd already waited, despite the fact that there were multiple empty tables and no line. We had called ahead because we were a group of 11 but were told we they don't take reservations on Sunday and to just come in and wait in the standby line, but then when we arrived were treated like our party size was a problem. When it started STORMING we asked again to be moved indoors to one of the multiple empty tables where -- coincidentally -- they sat other smaller groups from the patio. We had 2 babies with us and felt the patio during a lightening storm was unsafe. I asked to speak the manager, who refused to reseat us indoors. She told us we were welcome to wait but it could be up to an hour (?!) despite there being only one group remaining in line. I asked for her name, she refused to give it. I asked the greeter what the manager's name was and was told she didn't know. We left and went to a different restaurant where we spent over $300 for our large group. We will not be bringing our business back to CT for the foreseeable future, if at all. We love supporting small independent restaurants but the service today at CT was absolutely appalling. read more

The only gluten-free options are their salads, in this day and age you need to have dietary options. And the first drink I ordered from their drink list they couldn't do since they did not have the ingredients. So I ordered another and received that one, but they charged us for both drinks. Food was not that good. We had 2 children with us their buttered noodles and Mac n cheese were drying cold. The restaurant was not crowded at all. We will not be going back. read more

Decided to try this place after pasing it by over the years. We walked in and the staff are arguing in front of us while we waited to be ackowledged. We were the only table in the entire place and service was extremely slow for some reason. Ordered cocktails and it looked like the glasses were never washed. They were filthy. We ordered appetizers. The steak bites were cold and they forgot the bread that came with it. Brussel sprouts were the best thing of the night and even they were not satisfying. The highlight of the experience was when the staff had a full-blown shouting match across the room that almost got physical. It was intense and this was happening the entire time we were there. Our bill came and they overcharged us for the appetizers and then they couldn't figure out how to correct it. Disappointing experience and will not be coming back. read more
