Pros: Walked in and the aroma was great! We came in before the dinner rush. Seated immediately by friendly staff. Menu was extensive. Waitress was friendly and very attentive even after the place got busy. She got our special requests correct the first time! I had pork chili verde and he had texano quesadilla, both with rice and beans. Got a side of guacamole. Food came fast, was hot temperature and spiciness, tasted great! I decided to drop on for lunch and I have a new favorite spot. To start, I always appreciate a high health dept score (99). Seated quickly by friendly gentleman who was very attentive. I had a number 8 lunch combo which was a chicken enchilada, cheese enchilada and a beef taco. Each was very good and honestly probably the best I have had in Lexington. My first observation was that the food was NOT greasy as many Mexican restaurants can be or it seems that way to me more often than not. Salsa was really good with the right mix of cilantro, garlic and onions. Cheese dip was super too. Not watered down like so many and was excellent quality. I have been twice for lunch. Impressed with the atmosphere but the first go round the food was pretty bland for mexican. The second time around I tried the taco salad but it was more like taco soup. There are a few things on the menu they may be getting right but out of the five meals that I have seen served to me and my companions. I would only order one. There are too many other mexican restaurants in town that get it right. As a side note, I sent an email through their website to let them know about a problem with our waiter (Standing over us when he presented our bill to be paid right away, then telling us he gave us the wrong bill and came back with less change than the tab he gave us originally) NO RESPONSE from management! I'd truthfully give this a 3.5 star review, but a three star is more accurate than a four star rating. Their chips and salsa were not overwhelmingly amazing and their white sauce that they also give you with the chips is not queso-- it's an odd sauce and I really did not enjoy it at all. The margarita was absolutely fantastic and had fresh fruit it also was very pretty and I was not disappointed with it!! However, I did ask for it frozen (was given a choice) and they served it on the rocks.. no compensation for that, which is not necessary at all, but is also a sign of good customer service. There wasn't a wait and the atmosphere and seats are comfortable. They do have Wi-Fi and everyone working was polite. Plenty of free parking as well. First time coming to this place and walking in the door it was very nice compared to the last few restaurants it has been. It has a very modern feel for a Mexican restaurant. We got seated and hey brought salsa like every other Mexican place but they also brought a bowl of another dip that was white. I had to ask what it was because I knew it was not a cheese dip. They said it was a mayonnaise base with pepper that actually tasted pretty good with the chips. We ordered the fajitas altos which came with steak, shrimp, chicken and chorizo along with peppers and onions. We also got the el volcanito which was a burrito shaped like a volcano. The amount of food you got with your meal was huge and well worth the money. We had plenty of left overs to take with us. The drink prices are very reasonable as well. The only downside is that the service was pretty slow and kept having to remind the waiter for things that we ask for or needed. read more

Restaurant is not ready for takeout despite having curbside pickup. Waited 20 minutes, went inside (with my toddler) and was brushed off by the hostesses and ignored at the bar. Finally got someone to look for my order- it was never completed. Then they asked me if I would wait inside instead of going back to my car-- with my toddler in pajamas. Went back to my car, waited another 20 minutes. Still nothing. Got the kid back out, went back inside, and my order was still not done. And it was only an order of two tacos and a cheese quesadilla. Got home and my order was incomplete and cold. Disappointing as the food was good once I reheated. But they are definitely going through major growing pains as a new restaurant- I would stay away until the kinks are all worked out. If it is busy at all, you will have poor service. read more

While the food was fresh & very tasty, it didn't taste like the Mexican food that we've come to know & love. The tortilla chips were served with a fresh chunky medium-heat salsa as well as a sweet 'dressing'- per what the server called it. Not being a big fan of fresh tomatoes, I didn't care for the chunky salsa & I wasn't sure how the sweet "dressing" was intended to eat, as it didn't go well with tortilla chips. Our meals were "interesting".... The rice didn't have much of a flavor & didn't taste anything like the varieties Mexican rice that I've had. The refried beans & chicken were very good. I had asked for the peppers to be cooked extra well. They weren't. The service was good, even though our server appeared to be new at waiting tables. Because the quality of the food was so fresh & very good, I would definitely eat here again- just not when I'm in the mood for Mexican. read more

Ehh... nothing special. Food was okay. Someone recommended the hot salsa, wasnt hot at all. Also served some white salsa that was supposedly hot, wasnt spicy at all. It's a typical Mexican restaurant, not very authentic and nothing special. The fajita chicken strips were tiny little pieces, the fajita skillet wasnt even hot to touch so there wasnt the usual sizzle occurring when brought to the table. The food was Good but not over-the-top, although we should of spent more time studying the menu (our fault). The atmosphere was nice and not to loud for conversation. The restaurant was comprised mostly of booth type seating which was difficult entry and exit with some of the ordinate table legs. My family and I went to Campestre on March 6, 2021 for dinner at 6pm. The restaurant was already pretty busy with at least 50% or more of the seats filled. The current limit for Kentucky restaurants indoors is 60%. After we ordered and got our food, the entire restaurant filled up with every chair and table being used. Our table was three feet from others near us. We were not happy about the management's decision to endanger their customers and us in this way. We will never return to Campestre because of this. read more

We have eaten there several times, and liked it better each time. Huevos con chorizo, street tacos, chipotle burrito, tacos de asada are some of the things we have found memorable. Epically Awesome Mexican Restaurant. Lexington has been in need of this place for years. An untouched jewel. Entered at around 9 pm on a Saturday, sat at the bar. Friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere. Delicious food. The chips and salsa come with a secondary sauce that is excellent and I have not seen in the US. It is a nicer Mexican than the standard but it is not much more expensive. I imagine it will become exceedingly popular but until then, enjoy this wonderful place. read more

By the look of the restaurant I was super excited to try something fresh and new. Everything is very modern and clean. We were greeted at the door by all the staff. Very welcoming. There went that many people there except the bar. We went at 8:30 on a Saturday night. When the chips came out the were warm. They came with salsa and a white sauce. The white sauce was said to be a mayo dip. It was on the sweet side. Not really my cup of tea but not horrible. The salsa was nothing special. The chips were ok. I ordered the street tacos with carne Asada and my husband ordered the you pick combo with a chili Reno and a chicken enchilada rice and beans. The food came out hot and fresh and presentation was good. That's kinda where it needed my steak tacos were very bland. They didn't have much flavor. The steak wasn't seasoned and the lime didn't help anything. My husband didn't like his food either and let me try it. The rice was the worst rice I've ever tasted. No flavor.. over cooked and soggy. The beans had no seasoning and were very bland. I didn't taste the enchilada or the Reno but my husband said they were edible but not the best either.
