This RV "Resort" is located in an industrial area and seems to cater primarily to long-term…read moreresidents, with monthly rates around $1,200. We paid $270 for just two nights, which included a $30 resort fee. It definitely feels like they make their money off short-term guests like us. We stayed here only because we purchased our new RV in Salt Lake City and needed somewhere nearby. This is by far the most we have ever paid for an RV site, and unfortunately, the experience did not justify the price. Our site was not clean when we arrived, with random pieces of garbage left around. There were also lots of kids running around the park unattended. Lots of kid drama, some crying some yelling and a little cussing ha ha On the positive side, the park felt relatively safe with gated access and gate codes, and the people we encountered were nice. We RV regularly, and I would normally never expect to pay more than about $60 a night for a park like this. At roughly $135 per night for our stay, the price simply does not match the location, condition, or amenities. Incredibly overpriced for what you get.

I specifically stayed at the Pine Grove Camp Site. It has a lot of large mature trees, 4 bathroom facilities, plenty of camping areas, and an extremely large fire pit/picnic area. It's in walking distance to both Doughnut Falls and Dog Lake, plus it's a short drive to Solitude, Brighton, and many other beautiful trails. We arrived here on Friday and stayed two nights with a large group. The event brought out a lot of people for the daytime, but most people opted to not stay the night. This meant we had more than enough room to camp and have our own space. We picked a spot a little ways up the trail which made us a little too far from the bathrooms, but we weren't disturbed by anybody who woke up early or stayed up too late. Big Cottonwood gets extremely busy and this campground offers a few other group campsites. However, this campground was secluded enough that you were never bothered by the hustle and bustle of others and you were really able to feel like you were in the great outdoors. The campsite says that it can hold 100-125 people. The large picnic/fire pit area can definitely hold this many, but I feel like that many people camping could get pretty cramped. Our group was mostly couples so that would be close to 50-60 tents. I could see it working with families where you'd only need 20-30 tents. We definitely enjoyed the site though and would happily come back.

As soon as I walked in to check in I could see this was a beautiful KOA. It has a large store with plenty of snacks, pool & hot tub. There are a lot of games & courtyards for the kids to play. The bathrooms were clean and maintained. Full grown trees provided plenty of shade. A true oasis in the heart of the city.

Doesn't hurt to ask, right? So I called and said we were thinking about reserving a night there, but wanted to check if they had any available places for short-term storage afterwards, as we would be staying elsewhere for the next 3 nights. Woman on phone, very rudely: "Do you mean you don't want to stay here with us at all but you want to store your trailer here?" Me: "No" (repeated the same info as before). Woman, very curtly: "So we need to get you registered for a night then." Me, a little more warily: "Well we're considering it, but I just wanted to check about any available storage options you may have." Woman: "No, if you pay for a site, then you can store it here." Clearly, just asking a simple yes or no question was very harmful (to them) and their rude and hurtful reaction means that they are not interested in our business at all. A simple, kind, " No, I'm sorry we don't offer that" would have been lovely. Management may want to speak to the people who answer the phone, and re-teach what respectful interactions look like. From, the Airstream community that gives you lots of business and talks to each other about RV locations.

I accidentally booked our campsite for the…read morelower B loop which was super sunny so I would definitely recommend trying to reserve a site in the A loop or the upper B loop. The lower B loop tends to be mostly RVs which makes sense. Even though our site was super sunny, we had a nice gazebo so it's not a total loss if that's all you can get. One thing I must talk about is how great our camp host was. She was great about enforcing the speed limit and cleaning the bathrooms. I think the bathrooms at this campground were the cleanest bathrooms I've ever used while camping. We bought firewood from her but it was cash only! So definitely remember cash if you plan on having a fire! Because this campground is at a lower elevation than some of the other Utah campgrounds, it can get pretty hot in July. Maybe that's why there were so many spots open even though I waited till the last minute to book.

We love giving Luna off-leash time on hikes like this, as long as she stays on the trails and listens when we call her back or ask her to wait. After a long day of driving, we decided to stretch our legs on the Rattlesnake Trail (not my favorite name, but we went for it). The hike was 2.79 miles and took us about 1.5 hours to complete. It was rated as moderate, with plenty of inclines and beautiful views on the way up--the descent was much easier. Entry was $5, which you pay on your way out. Overall, it was a great way to get some exercise and let Luna roam in a safe, welcoming environment.

There are some campground restrooms throughout the canyon. Dogs are allowed in the canyon. Odd numbered days are off leash days and even numbered days dogs must be on leash. Bikers are not allowed in the canyon on odd numbered days although you might still see them.

Great experience here at Antelope Island State Park. My friend and I visited in the late afternoon…read moreafter arriving at the airport around noon, and checking out Golden Spike National Historic Site. The day had been quite rainy, and the timing worked out perfectly as the skies cleared up later in the day. Just a quick heads up! At the time of writing, there is no potable water available on the island. Bring your own and bring plenty of it. Also there is an entry fee to cross the causeway to get onto the "island" which really isn't an island anymore because of low water levels. There is an AM station that provides information updates as you enter - make sure to check in out and stay in the know. Because we hadn't brought much water with, we decided to keep our hiking to a minimum. We were also just off the plane from the east coast, so decided to take it easy with hiking our first day at the elevation. Our first stop was at Ladyfinder Point - we took the short trail out to the point for some views! Then after that, we really wanted to get down to the water so we made our way over to Bridger Bay Beach access. From the parking area to the water is a bit of a hike given that the water levels are so low. We parked near the first bathouse and made our way down through the sand. I had opted for sandals, but the flipflops made navigating the san difficult, so I went barefoot which was a bit uncomfortable because the sand it quite coarse. But, as we got further out the sand is more compacted and the sandals were ok. About halfway out to the water, we noticed a bison in the distance. It was walking south quite a bit away from us, so we continued north to the water and kept a really good distance. Down near the water, be prepared for MANY bird carcasses and the brine flies got pretty thick as you near the water. Just keep going because it is worth it. We stood in the clear waters of the Great Salt Lake and enjoyed the breeze and setting sun. It was well worth it to go all the way down. After a short stay by the water we headed back. It was at this point that we noticed the Bison from earlier had headed in the direction of the trailhead near the showers. We again kept our distance and had no issues, but our concern was growing. We made a bit of a detour to give the bison a wider berth, but at this point he was clearly moving toward the same point we were headed to. Keeping eyes on him and picking up speed we made it back to the shower building and rinsed our feet. Meanwhile, the bison continued to make his way up the beach stopping occasionally and then continuing on. We had retreated a bit behind the concrete walls of the shower building as the bison continued walking toward us. At one point I finally decided that we should probably get to the car. Which we did... After getting in the car and preparing to depart, we turned our head and lo and behold - but who should appear. That bison! He popped up out of the trail and began scratching himself on the shower building walls were we had been standing moments ago. Then he stopped, stared at us and we had a moment of panic that the rental car might get some damage. Luckily, the bison was not in the mood for a confrontation and he lumbered through the parking lot acros the road and up the other side of the hill, scratching his head on some low trees. Honestly, it was a bit of a anxiety-inducing experience yet thrilling at the same time. After our little encounter, we made our way toward Buffalo Point where we hiked up to Altar Rock and back. On the drive up we saw the island's namesake - two young antelope cavorting around the open spaces like two kids without a care in the world. It was entertaining and memorable for sure! The hike to Buffalo Point was a short but rewarding little hike and it was perfect as the sun was starting to set. Not wanting to hike back in the dark, we didn't stay out until true sunset, but we did get some great photos and made our way back. Apparently the park has a Dark Sky designation, and we had toyed with the idea of staying until dark, BUT the skies had grown overcast again, and after a long day of travel we made the decision that we needed to get an In-N-Out burger for dinner and head to the hotel to rest and prepare for our long hike the next day. Antelope Island was a great choice, and I am so glad we experienced even just a small percentage of the island. It was well worth it and I would definitely go back!

It's so spacious, feels secluded, and is just perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. It's honestly my favorite campsite I've ever stayed at. Unfortunately, other people seem to know how great it is too, which makes it really hard to reserve. So I'll be gatekeeping the site number... sorry! We always have such a great time here and can't wait to come back.

What a stunning campground! So many beautiful sites, and so close to SLC! It made for a great…read morestaycation for my husband and I. We had site 64, which was at the very end of the campground in a small loop with bathrooms in the middle. There were 3 sites in the area, and our site was extremely private due to the trees and because you have to go down a set of stairs to reach the table and fire pit. We parked our trailer at the top, which ended up being great, but I'm not sure if the site has a tent pad or not. Our site was tucked among the trees and had hiking trails leading in multiple directions behind it. It was clean, but the bathroom was full of those gross sewer flies (which maybe can't be helped?). The sound of the flowing river was extremely soothing and even drowned out the sounds from our [super drunk] neighbors. I'd highly recommend checking out the pictures of each site on the recreation.gov website. There are many beautiful and private sites, but many that weren't as private or level (if that matters to you). I'd also recommend booking as soon as the reservation window opens, which I think is in January, for the best sites and dates. The campground is almost always completely full as you get closer to the summer months. This is my new favorite spot for sure, can't wait to return next year!

The shower situation is unacceptable. Both Men's and Women's shower facilities have three stalls…read more In both areas 1 stall is broken and out of service. The remaining two are just horrible. Low water pressure and lack of temperature control make for a less than satisfying shower. The lines were long. I noticed in older reviews that there were complaints about the showers too. They apparently do not respond to the reviews or customer concerns. Overall, the property is nice and the staff were friendly. The camping situation is just not for me. The trailers are packed in so tight that I worried about being able to pull my trailer out when it was time to leave. We ended up waiting for others to leave to allow for more room to maneuver. I'll visit again for a day trip but I'll camp elsewhere.

Turns out you can bring your own. Doesn't say that anywhere on their website site that you need to provide your own things to try and enjoy this park. The park opened up at 10am, and we played all day, coming back to camp for lunch and dinner. There is a walkway to get back into the gates of the park, and an exit which puts you right into the campground. Park closes at 10pm most days. We stayed a second night and then check out is before 11. They have an on site RV dump so you can drive home dry. Quite hours from 11pm-7am. Little store for essentials if you forget anything such as ice, and s'mores. Fire pits have to be 1foot off the ground, but permitted. We will definitely be back next summer!

The water used to be clear, but it is murky with engine oil and gas. It would be fun to swim , kayak, paddle board etc, however since DNR ranger's wink and nod at Jet-skis, speed boats and other motorized floating vessels which have taken over the swimming area, it's dicey at best to do those activities from the beach. There's a huge empty dock adjacent to the beach where boats and jets skis are supposed to dock, but a ranger told us, "too bad so sad, if you don't like it, don't come to the (pay to get in) beach.
