    On June 7, 2025, my husband, son (and his significant other), and I visited Camping World in Mesa, AZ. We'd been researching campers online and wanted to view a few in person--one for us, and one for our son. From the beginning, we were upfront: we were browsing and needed to explore options before deciding. We were paired with Steven, a new sales associate who was fantastic--honest, patient, respectful, and low-pressure. He was the best part of the entire experience. While there, we saw a 2025 Forest River Campsite Ultra 19KB. It had everything we wanted--even if it was pricier than we intended. We let them know we had our own financing and shared details on our 2022 Forest River pop-up (like-new, fully loaded) as a trade-in. Steven returned, visibly uncomfortable, and said they'd only offer $9,000. That was a huge red flag--the trailer was worth much more. We stayed calm and said we'd likely sell it ourselves. Before leaving, we spoke to Jacob, the sales manager, and complimented Steven's professionalism. Jacob asked what would make the deal work. After a brief conversation, he offered $15,000 for our trade and assured us they'd honor that deal when we returned. We were excited and ready to move forward. Because of Father's Day, we waited until after the holiday and followed up on June 21. We texted Steven--only to find out he no longer worked there. He kindly referred us to Hayden, so we followed up with him and explained the deal. That's when things unraveled. Hayden told us the trailer price had increased by $3,000--from $29,999 to $32,999. We reminded him that Jacob had said the price was based on time on the lot and that we had a deal in writing. Hayden suggested other models, including a Cougar and an Eddie Bauer Heartland--both nice but not what we wanted. We were still focused on the Campsite Ultra. Then came the real insult: after speaking to three different managers, Hayden said our trade-in value was now only $13,100--not the $15,000 we were promised. We showed them the written deal, but they refused to honor it, saying it "shouldn't have been offered." We politely walked out--and told them they didn't just lose one sale, they lost two. Later that day, we went to another nearby RV dealer in Mesa. The experience was completely different. When we showed them Camping World's offer, they immediately matched the $15,000 trade-in. We found a better camper for ourselves--an upgrade from the Campsite Ultra--and yes, it was more expensive. We also bought a second camper for our son--also a nicer, better-built unit than what he was looking at. We left with two campers we love--and were treated with respect and transparency the entire time. That dealer earned our trust (and thousands of dollars) because they listened, honored their word, and didn't play games. Final Thoughts: Camping World Mesa was unprofessional, misleading, and inconsistent. What started as a promising experience with an excellent salesperson turned into a frustrating and disappointing ordeal due to poor management and questionable tactics. We won't shop there again--and we wouldn't recommend this location to anyone. Mesa has better RV dealers. Do your research, know your trade-in value, and take your business somewhere that respects you. We'll also be sharing the paperwork from both offers so others can see exactly what happened. You've been warned.

    I love this place! I used to be an REI loyalists but lately my activities are getting much more…read moretechnical and REI doesn't seem to be able to supply all the gear I need. I came here a few days ago looking for vertical ascend gear out of caves. I was greeted by Jason and he was really helpful and knowledgeable. I needed very specific gear, and Jason was very patient with me and showed me where I could find sit harnesses, chest harness, chest ascender, hand ascende, foot loops, etc. I didn't find exactly what I needed but got a good idea on the things I need to build a personalized vertical gear set for myself. And of course, while I was looking for cave gear, I wandered around looking at all the fabulous gear they have, I was like a kid in a candy store. I could spend hours in here. I started looking at hydration packs as I need to replace mine and found a very nice military edition and will come back to purchase this soon. I also saw plenty of Petzl bags, and very tempted to purchase another. They also carry so much Petzl gear, you will be in heaven here. Also, some great hiking shoes and some sleek, but we'll performing water shoes. I then wandered into kayaks and Jason even showed me the Padillac they have! I've gotten into paddleboarding and kayaking for the summer and now want one of each! This place rents them and sells them. I then went to check out some wetsuit gear, and they have a really nice selection of wetsuits, gloves, booties, etc. I really love this place and it is definitely gonna bankrupt me, but so worth it. High quality gear, more extensive selection than REI and the staff here know what they are talking about. If you need something specialized, this is the place for you. I'll be back here soon!

    The Hiking Shack had a nice assortment of hiking goods - not a ton of hiking boots/shoes options…read more However, I got two pairs of shoes and I was happy with my choices! The gentleman that helped us was, interesting... he YELLED across the store for some extra help. A little unprofessional and then when he did get to my group (there were 3 of us buying shoes) he proceeded to tell us his whole life story. I did appreciate the time he took to measure our feet and have us try out multiple sizes and styles. That being said the shoe I liked didn't come in any other colors despite the display having other color options. I would love to support this store seeing that there are lots of other larger competitors like REI. But I wish they had a few more options/colors/sizes.

    We had a true emergency with our RV while traveling from out of state. Our trailer stabilizers were…read morestuck and wouldn't detach from our truck, threatening to derail our entire vacation. I called and spoke with Ali, who immediately told us to bring it in. From that first conversation to the end of the service, the entire team was outstanding. They went well above and beyond locating a hard-to-find part hours away and doing whatever it took to get us back on the road quickly. Thanks to their expertise, quick thinking, and incredible dedication, we were able to continue our vacation without missing a beat. The level of customer service was exceptional, and the pricing for an emergency service especially considering how far they were willing to go was more than fair. You truly saved our trip.     The quality and timeliness of the work were good, but the company's accountability and customer…read moreservice were disappointing. While my RV was being serviced, the battery disconnect switch was left in the "on" position, which caused the battery to die. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. One employee even apologized and acknowledged that the switch should have been turned off. However, the service advisor made no effort to correct the issue after it was confirmed that the battery would no longer hold a charge. Instead, she offered to sell me a replacement battery and still charge me labor for the installation. She also stated that I was lucky she was not charging me simply to test the battery, because according to her, the company charges for everything -- even basic battery testing. We spent a lot of money on our repairs so it is really disappointing that they could not offer any solutions for their mistake. In the end, it is not right that they made the mistake of leaving the switch on, and I was expected to pay the full cost of a battery and the "labor" to fix it. (For those that are wondering, the batteries health and performance were great when I brought it in). In the end, the experience left me with little confidence in the company's accountability or commitment to customer service.
