I don't shop at Bass Pro shops often, but I do enjoy walking around them. The stores are huge and they carry lots of outdoor gear. Bass Pro and Cabela's are sporting good retailers that sell outdoor equipment for camping, hunting, fishing and other outdoor reactional activities. I am a big outdoor enthusiast and live next door to this Bass Pro Shop in Mesa. Most of my outdoor activities include camping, running, skiing and kayaking. Bass Pro Shops have been around for many years and recently acquired Cabela's. This Bass Pro Shop is called Outdoor World and has an aquarium, shooting gallery and animal displays. It adds to the fun of walking around these stores and gives you that feel that you are outside. The prices aren't anything special. But I like that you can find a lot of outdoor apparel and gear all in one stop. Bass Pro Shops supports conservation efforts throughout the U.S. The Islamorada Fish Company Restaurant that was here closed a few years ago. read more

On 12/21/24, I had a very disappointing experience at the Bass Pro Shops in Mesa, Arizona. During my visit, my mom was waiting in line to use the restroom along with several other customers when a mom and her child walked straight past everyone and cut through the entire line. It was extremely rude and disrespectful to everyone who had been patiently waiting their turn. What made the situation even worse was that no one from the store seemed to address it or manage the situation, even though the area was busy. Basic courtesy and respect for other customers should be expected in a public place, and unfortunately that wasn't the case here. While the store itself may be popular, experiences like this leave a really negative impression. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed with how the situation played out. I hope that some day, this issue gets addressed and resolved. Needless to say, I won't be coming back & would highly recommend staying away from this location. read more

Mental note to self, if I ever need to hit Bass Pro Shops do it on a Monday night around 8:00. They don't close for another hour or so, and man this place was deserted of customers. Score one for those of us who don't like crowds, cause you know ... people. Second mental note so self, if I ever need to pick up a Yeti this is the place to go. When I walked in I asked the girl at the front door where I could find pepper spray and she said go down the main aisle and hang a left at the Yeti. At first I was looking for a big stuffed Yeti (think Big Foot) before seeing the Yeti thermos display stand. Shut up, I'm cute, not smart. And they do have all manner of stuffed animals around the store, so was my thinking really that off? Anyway I was about to hang a left at the Yeti display when I glanced back and saw that it wasn't the only Yeti display in sight. Yeti hydros were everywhere; on the end caps, in the aisles, tucked on tables here and there. Telling somebody in Bass Pro Shops to turn left at the Yeti is like telling somebody lost in the forest to turn left at the pine cone. Aside from the navigational mishap, I found what I needed without too many further mishaps. I only had to ask two other employees for directions, which fortunately didn't involve thermoses or mythical creatures. The place was not busy so I wasn't getting jostled around to the point that I felt like I needed to test out my pepper spray indoors. Parking places are super easy to find at 8:00 pm. Front row baby! Very strange experience trying to buy a boat. The salesman are obviously not on commission. And don't really care if a boat is sold or not. Also, if you want to pay cash, they act like it's almost a sin. Very poor experience with Bass Pro Shops. I purchased a hat that turned out to be defective and already coming apart. Instead of resolving the issue in a simple, customer-friendly way, I was directed into a return process that required multiple steps just to send back a $29 item. When a company sells defective merchandise, the responsibility to make it right should not fall on the customer through a burdensome return process. A simple pickup or straightforward resolution could have fixed the situation immediately, but that option was not offered. At some point the effort required becomes greater than the value of the product. That's exactly what happened here. I eventually gave up, disposed of the defective hat, and absorbed the loss. I don't know whether this was a limitation of the representative or company policy, but either way it reflects poorly on Bass Pro Shops' customer service. Selling defective merchandise and then placing the burden on the customer to fix the problem is not good business practice. read more

Love this location. They always have a great variety of firearms, ammo, & gear. The team members are always super helpful. My kids love to walk around & check out all the taxidermied animals, huge fish tank with waterfall & creek that is stocked with live fish. They also always have fun family friendly free events like getting photos with Santa, The Easter Bunny, & Halloween photo ops. It's also in a great location (right off the 202N) & there are tons of other stores & restaurants close by. read more

Why did the fisherman bring a ladder to Bass Pro Shops? Because he heard the fishing gear was on another level! Bass Pro Shops is a great place for outdoor lovers. They have a lot of items like fishing gear, hunting tools, camping stuff, and outdoor clothes. The store is fun to visit with indoor waterfalls, fish tanks, and animal displays. The staff is helpful and friendly. While wondering, we saw many epic deals and even bass slippers. But these did not make it into our cart. It's been a while since we went to this Bass Pro Shop. It has been rearranged a bit since our last visit, but the immense array of merchandise is still there. We appreciated the greeter that directed us to the two areas we needed. And I appreciated the benches available for those of us who need a break while the spouse is getting information. We encountered at least four staff members who really went out of their way to get us the information on products we were looking for. It was a great visit. I had to go back today to exchange a pair of winter snow boots for a larger size. The customer service lady was very helpful in coordinating my exchange. When I went upstairs to locate my boot and arrange for a bigger size I couldn't find it out on the display wall. So I asked a salesperson about it, showed her which one I had. She said they pulled it off the wall because they only had a couple left! Insert panic mode on my part! I went to Bass Pro Shop earlier in the year. I wanted to get an estimate to have 3 new batteries, a fish finder, and a 3 bank onboard charger installed on my boat. It's a 2000 Javelin Renegade FS20 that is in great shape, always garaged. The guy at the service department was hesitant to do the work and threw out a ridiculous labor charge for the fish finder. I installed the last fish finder in 30 minute. He had 3 hours labor for that. I emailed BPS twice last week. I wanted to see if they could supply and install 3 marine batteries and a 3 bank charger. I haven't heard back from them. I'm done with this clown show. Is it too much for someone to get back to you? They don't even deserve 1 star. read more

Great store to shop for outdoor items. My husband, myself and our two dogs had so much fun at this store. The people working in this store were very nice and helpful. Big selection of shirts, jackets, and anything else you can think of. Huge store, and I mean HUGE. I've never seen this store in this size. The wife and I were at the gun counter. We has some questions about a couple items. If they are busy, you have to use the QR code to add your name and wait. We did and waited, and waited. There is a timer that shows how long you're waiting. After 6 minutes, an employee walked by the wife and went to help a man and his son. There were no other names on the wait list. Didn't even say anything to us at all. I also know that those two other customers were there AFTER us. I told myself that when it gets to 29 minutes that we would leave. At 25 minutes, a guy called out the wife's name. When he came up to us we asked what is the purpose of having put our name in the system only to have an employee walked by and not acknowledge my wife at all and help someone else who was there and not on the list. The guy seemed bothered at the other employee helping the others. However, the guy who helped us was very nice and helpful. His name is Remington. Appropriately named for the gun counter. Other than the wife being ignored and how long we waited, we ended up buying some ammo and a red dot site and again Remington was very friendly and helpful. read more

A really big, and I learned from a staff person iirc, one of biggest Bass Pro Shop in the country. This one is centrally located in Phoenix Metro, specifically in Mesa close to the Salt River and just a little ways away from Tempe. It's an outdoorsman's paradise, but can also be a kid's fun place for a couple of hours. We enjoyed walking through the store, looking at all the displays, the fish tank, the taxidermy animals, and marveling at how big the place is. Of course they're trying to sell things, most of which we don't need, but we had fun window shopping, and the selection of merchandise is incredibly wide, and there are some pretty good sales throughout the store. Overall, we enjoyed the visit and they even have some little events for kids on certain days of the week for an hour or so in the afternoon. They have a calendar for that and I think they usually coincide with a school break like when we went it was in the summer so maybe that's why they offered those little free workshops. I needed to pick up an item that I had ordered online to the store, and I was surprised at how large the store was. They did have an option to do curbside pick up which maybe I should have done but I took the opportunity to explore the store and look around. Thankfully there wasn't a lot of people in the huge store. Otherwise I would have needed to walk out and do curbside pick up instead. I had accidentally went into a customer service line which might've just been to pick up firearms, but thankfully an employee noticed that I was standing in the line and wanted to know if I was there for picking up a firearm and I told him no, so he directed me to another location in order to pick up my item. The employee was really nice, and I appreciated that he was able to help me out without me even needing to ask him. they have a huge variety of hunting and camping equipment. I saw a lot of fishing poles and kayaks or canoes. There was a large aquarium at the front as well as a Christmas tree where people were taking photos. There were also stuffed ducks and other stuffed animals like bears and foxes or coyotes. At the exit there was a lot of candies for sale. 10/23/24 I was denied a firearm . I challenged this and submitted fingerprints to the federal bureau of investigation. On 11/12/23 the FBI cleared my background and gave me an AMD number. If over 30 days passed, a new background check with my AMD number would be needed to process it, if 30 days did not pass, another background check wouldn't be needed. I visited Bass pro on 11/16, and 11/18 before expiration and was told that I would need to speak with Levi or James who was not there in order to pick up the firearm that I purchased . I asked when they would be there and they told me they did not know and told me to look on bass pro site for the email. I emailed the general manager Levi on Saturday November 23rd and he never responded. I even left a voice message that he never called back. I was finally able to speak to Chris, the firearm manager and was told that I needed to call the FBI and get a second AMD number because Bass pro policy is different from the FBI. I called the number listed on my firearm related challenge twice and was told both times that the FBI do not issue 2 AMD numbers, that the store needs to submit another background check and use to use the AMD number that was previous given and that Bass pro needs to read the paperwork. The FBI fire-arms challenged department called Bass pro and spoke with someone named Tyler and concluded that the policy is once an AMD number is given , a new background check should be submitted and of everything came back okay , I could pick up my firearm that o ordered. The FBI department assured me that maybe Bass Pro were confused about how this process works and may need more training on the issue but nothing was holding me back from picking up my firearm. I spoke to Chris again and he told me that he wasn't sure why I was calling back that he already told me that I needed to call the FBI for a new AMP number and that Bass Pro policy is they cannot do a second background without another AMP, even though my certificate said otherwise. I called the FBI again and they called Nass pro for the second time to explain the fire arm related challenge certificate . Bass Pro employees need to be properly trained when someone is denied by the FBI. Not everyone that is denied has a record. No one should be wasting their gas, getting ignored, and receiving false information because workers do not understand the process. I finally received a call from Bass Pro to pick up the firearm that I purchased, which the original that I wanted was sent back and I had to reorder a new one due to the store not responding and giving me false information about their policy regarding devices firearm issues. While picking up my gun, the store manager Levi told me that he didn't respond to me because typically when people are decked the first time, the FBI does not clear them for a gun. I felt that I was stereotyped to have a record because I am black and that he failed to respond to my calls or email and was another reason that I received the run around and push back that I did. I forgot to mention that I was also told that even if I was cleared by the FBI if Levi felt that I was not safe or will put anyone in harm's way he could still deny me. That comment could have been kept . I will never be shopping at Bass pro again , poor customer service and mediocre communication skills. If I could give zero stars I would! I forgot to mention when I made it to the store, I scanned the QR code to put my name in the queue and Cody removed my name without calling me (I was standing there the entire time) and called someone by the name of Joshua before me.
